Hello, everyone! The last few years these seem to have fallen by the wayside, but I say we bring them back this year, and I volunteer to head the charge. I will nominate Slade to also receive these ballots in case we run into anything tricky and it's probably best to have a couple of eyes on this to ensure fairness. So, I know we still have events planned for December, and I know I personally am not prepared to put in my promotion's ballot until after my next show, but here are the categories for your submissions. Fill out and post in this thread your nominations for YOUR promotion. Once we have gathered all submissions, I will have you all submit your votes for best of the year based on the nominations. Categories are as follows: Promotion of the Year (Which promotion was the overall best this year? Who put it all together and was the top of the class for 2023? Leave this blank until you submit your final ballot.) Writer of the Year (Who's writing the best matches or promos? Leave blank until you submit your ballot.) Booker of the Year (Who's booking the best angles and feuds? Leave blank until you submit your ballot.) *Provide up to three candidates for each category. Leave blank or exclude any category not applicable.* Male Wrestler of the Year
Female Wrestler of the Year
Tag Team of the Year
Show of the Year
Match of the Year
Feud of the Year
Manager of the Year
Promo of the Year
Angle of the Year (This could be a backstage segment or something post match, anything not a match or promo) Most Improved of the Year You can submit your promotions nominations at any time, but the cut off will be January 10th. After that, we will begin with submitting ballots. I would also suggest providing any applicable links to events or matches or whatever in your ballot so we can all have a reference. It's been a great year, let's celebrate the best of it!

Okay, so I think we've gotten all of the submissions we are going to get for this. Please send your ballots to Slade and I; Slade, I will send you my ballot and you can send me yours and we can tally everything up. Voting ends on January 15th. We have some great submissions this year, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Just a reminder to get these votes in by the 15th! We've got some really tight races, so every vote is going to count. We had a banner year, with some excellent choices on the ballot, so please let us know what you think!

2023 Year-End UWA ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS!2023 saw some of the very best and most consistent writing and promoting I've personally witnessed since I joined this group way back in 2015. I actually didn't realize it had been 9 years now until I was going back and doing some research on how these awards were handled in the past. The UWA seemed to find identity and heart this year, as we saw promotions such as WCW, AWA, and AEW really set the standard for quality and consistency, week in and week out, setting the bar high for all others to try to achieve. The fact that these three promotions were the standard bearers is reflected greatly in this year's awards, and it is what made it so difficult in some categories for the voters to find a clear consensus; there was just so much good to choose from. Also, UWA was able to pull off a successful alliance wide supershow, "Fallout", which I think we all hope to see more of in 2024. I know I have personally struggled to find that consistency this year, but I found myself looking to these great promotions for inspiration. Seeing this caliber of effort and consistently great writing and booking makes me want to do the best work I can. We've seen others, such as myself or Slade, leave and come back, and that will surely continue to happen as long as this group exists, but for now, it is clear the UWA is maybe stronger than ever at the top. I would be remiss to not mention the loss of one of our long time contributors this year, rick54. I didn't know him well, but I knew he was a kindred spirit and had a great mind for booking. I always enjoyed his content, and even if he left for periods, I always expected he'd be back with his signature brand of content and to encourage others had he always been there to do. Sadly, that day will now never come, and I do feel his absence is a great loss for this group and he should be remembered fondly. Slade had this to say when we discussed this In Memoriam: I think the same can be said for all of us. I want to thank everyone who submitted ballots and voted this year. Your contributions were greatly appreciated! After tallying up everything, and a nice little run off vote, I present to you the UWA 2023 Year-End Awards! Booker of the year baby! I'm honored to get that title and the other honors WCW netted. While we might be small, we are mighty, and all the winners showcase excellent work. Congrats to all the other winners as well. I think this was nice spread to recognize what were our top three feds last year and here's fingers crossed for us having at least four more feds being in the mix this coming year.

Thanks for putting together the vote and compiling things! It was neat to take a look back through some of the things I wrote last year, and others as well, to be reminded of storylines, etc. Definitely wasn't expecting to win match of the year (though I apparently enjoy writing Foley matches...the Mankind-Guevara steel cage match at this week's Collision is an early front-runner for AEW MOTY).
Good job by all!

Great write-up, Joe, and thanks for initiating this. Also nice to recognize Rick as such a dedicated contributor.
Even if only a few people are reading, and even fewer are voting, it's gratifying to be recognized. I'm also happy that the love was spread around so much, and I hopw that's indicative of bigger and better things for the UWA in 2024.
