WCW Monday Nitro episode 45 for 11.27.23
Live from the Dorton Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina
Commentary: Gorilla Monsoon and Wade Barrett
Ring Announcer: Gary Michael Cappetta
Interviewer: SoCal Val
Referees: Tommy Young, Joey Marella and Charles Robinson
L.A. Knight is in the ring with an nWo shirt in hand. He said he had an offer for Bret Hart last night after beating him at the ppv. It’s said when you’re nWo, you’re nWo for life and Hart was once nWo and can be again. Tell his family to shove it, tell Hulk Hogan to get bent and put on the shirt he was born to wear, the black and white, not the pink and black.
Bret Hart comes out and gets into the ring. If anybody knows their wrestling history, they know he was in the nWo. And they’d also know it was the worst time of his damn life. The nWo isn’t all for one and one for all, it’s all for whoever is on top and everyone else jockeying for position. Now, he doesn’t like how the match ended last night and Hulk Hogan getting involved, but he likes Knight and nWo even less.
Knight acts like he’s going to say something and then just blasts Hart with the WCW Wild Card Title in his hand. Both factions run out and it’s fighting in the aisle and around ringside. Shane McMahon comes out with security to try and get order. He books the nWo to put the WCW Trios Titles on the line in the main event against the Hart Foundation.

SoCal Val has “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes on the interview stage. He’s holding a big, thick bullrope. “Last night at Capital Combat, baby, the American Dream did not tell a lie. I said my heart would never give up and it never did. My body is a different matter, daddy, and Big Dust admits that. Steve Austin made me bleed my own blood and while I never submitted, I never said quit, I never said no more. My body gave out before my brain and my heart. That’s only one of three and that’s no good, baby.”
“Austin said last night that we’re both from Texas, baby, and he knows of only two things that come from Texas. Well, I know of two more. The Texas Death Match and the Texas Bullrope Match. This here bullrope in my hands has always been more my thing Austin. And I can’t wait to wrap it around your scrawny throat and drag you around the ring with it, baby, at Starrcade International.”

Rhea Ripley talks with Shane McMahon in the back. He figures she wants another shot at the WCW Women’s Title held by Wendi Richter. No, she wants Charlotte Flair tonight for interfering in her match last night with her number one contendership on the line. Winner faces Richter at Starrcade International.

One Man Gang with “Number One” Paul Diamond squashes “Big Cat” Ernie Ladd by pinfall via 747 Splash at 1:47. Diamond orders OMG to give Ladd three more splashes. Referee Tommy Young threatens to reverse the decision, so Diamond calls him off. Ladd is stretchered out.

SoCal Val has Jake Roberts on the interview platform about his issues with Brian Pillman Sr. from WCW Saturday Night Special. “Brian Pillman I didn’t teach you anything you didn’t already know, just what you’ve forgotten. You used to be a loose cannon and you almost were again, but your son is holding you back. Lesson number one I’m going to relearn you is if you don’t look out for number one, you’re just number two.” Roberts will face Pillman Jr. after the break.

Brian Pillman Jr. comes out in a neck brace from being thrown off the stage at Saturday Night Special by the Snake Pit. He still wants to wrestle Jake. However, Pillman Sr. comes out and won’t let him. He’ll face Roberts again.
Jake “The Snake” Roberts defeated Brian Pillman Sr. by count out at 5:55. Black Mamba and Copperhead come out and attack the younger Pillman at ringside, drawing his dad out to help. Brian Sr. is overwhelmed by the number and eats a chokeslam by Mamba on the floor. Roberts gets in his face and says “lesson two, don’t fight someone else’s battle. Stick to your own or what was meant for them, you’ll have to suffer.”

The Stud Stable are on the interview stage with SoCal Val. Col. Robert Fuller says Robert Roode didn’t claim the U.S. Title at Capital Combat, but his quest for gold isn’t over. Perfectly Wonderful is the greatest tag team in WCW today and the greatest tag team he’s ever managed. Austin then talks trash on Dusty Rhodes. He knows about the Texas Bull Rope, he’s just as Texan as Dusty and if Rhodes is so stupid he wants to prove who is more Texan in Australia, then let’s do it and he will win and retain the title belt and that’s the bottom line because Stunning Steve said so.

Magnum TA defeated “Lethal Weapon” Steve Blackman by pinfall via belly to belly suplex at 7:45. This match came from Magnum hitting Blackman while security tried to break him and Jericho up at Saturday Night Special. Jericho runs out and attacks Magnum after the match and they brawl off.

SoCal Val has Hulk Hogan on the interview stage. “Let me tell you something, brother. L.A. Knight, dude, you’re going to get yours eventually, brother. The nWo is going to get theirs, jack. And I’m going to get myself reinstated and hopefully have a hand in all of you getting your asses handed to you, brother. As for Bret Hart, brother, I’ve been nothing but a brother to him, brother, even more than his own brothers, brother. Things didn’t work out at Capital Combat, but all the Hulkster wanted to do was help him out, brother. And I’m going to tell you one more thing, brother, the pink and black is superior to the black and white, dude.”

Shane McMahon leads security against Magnum and Jericho to break them up. He tells them to keep their hands off each other until Starrcade International or he’ll suspend the instigator. Also, Jericho isn’t the UWA Universal Men’s Champion anymore, so that means he’s available whenever to wrestle and he better have his working boots on next week for Nitro.

Out in the ring a sort of talk show type set has been created. Maury Povich is in the ring and recaps the situation between Charlie Dempsey and William Regal. Regal denies being Dempsey’s dad, but Dempsey got some of his blood for a DNA test at Saturday Night’s Special. Dempsey is in the ring already. Regal and Dave Taylor come out.
Povich reads the results and says where it comes to Charlie Dempsey, William Regal, you are…not the father. Everyone seems shocked, except for Regal who plays to the booing crowd wanting redemption. However, they compared Dempsey’s blood to a DNA database and did find Dempsey’s father…it’s David Taylor.
Regal and Dempsey both stare at Taylor. Yeah, back in the day he used to tell women he was William Regal so they wouldn’t come looking for him after a one night stand. So, Taylor believes that totally checks. Dempsey and Taylor awkwardly hug and Regal says now all this has been settled, let’s never speak of it again.

“The Queen” Charlotte Flair defeated Rhea Ripley by submission via figure eight at 12:23. Flair retains her number one contendership and post match makes belt motions around her waist.

“The Ultimate Olympian” Kurt Angle is with SoCal Val on the interview stage. He’s finally done with that musclebound meathead the Ultimate Warrior and drove him out of WCW. But there are a lot of other musclebound meatheads out there in the UWA, like Brian Cage in AEW. Supposedly, he’s taking on all comers for his AEW International Title. Starrcade International sounds like the perfect time to put that title on the line and Angle challenges him for Dec. 24 in Sydney, Australia.

The nWo (Will Hobbs, Mike Bennett and Killer Kross) retain the WCW Trios Titles against the Hart Foundation (Bret Hart, Owen Hart and Jim Neidhart) by pinfall of Hobbs on Neidhart via spinebuster at 13:39. Everyone fights after the bell. McMahon comes out and calls for order again. If they want to fight like that, okay, let’s do it. At Starrcade International in Sydney, Australia, it’s going to be the Hart Foundation vs. the nWo in…WarGames!
