8/24/14 - 8/30/14
(“A Blazing Outro”)
MATCH of the WEEK
Stone Cold Steve Austin © vs. CM Punk for the World title at WCW Great American Bash -- click here --
It’s also interesting to note, that just a few days before Daniel Bryan’s big match against BCCW’s John Cena at WWE Summerslam, the AWA kingpin would be victorious in a hugely popular tag team combination with DDP on his home turf that may foreshadow his ultimate triumph. (see AWA Wed Night Warriors Week 32 -- click here --)
PLAY of the WEEK: Roman Reigns cashes in (WCW)
(At WCW Great American Bash, the Roman Empire begins with Reigns cashing in his title shot against an already-weakened and betrayed HBK. A move that resulted in the crowning of a new WCW champion, and earned Roman Reigns “Play of the Week”)
WRESTLER of the WEEK: Stone Cold Steve Austin (Mash up world champion)
(Austin stole the show with his match against CM Punk (WCW) and did what a true world champion is supposed to; tear into the territory and run a program with their top character that leaves everybody a bit better off than when they started. Congrats to Austin to retaining his title and putting on five star bouts in the process)
RATINGS POP of the WEEK: Brock Lesnar defeats Bobby Lashley
BCCW Slaughtahouse Stampede IV -- click here --
(Technically not a “ratings pop” since the Stampede was broadcast on iPPV, but it was for that experimental procedure that BCCW win this award. Brock Lesnar’s much ballyhooed bouts (rare as they have been) are drawing increasingly well, enough to allow BCCW to launch a different kind of transmission. In this case, the stream went off perfectly and Lesnar’s big win earned more ippv buys than any other mash up wrestling project in history)
TAG TEAM of the WEEK: TIE
Russians (BCCW Tag Team champions) and New Age Outlaws (WCW)
(Both set of champions retained their titles under dubious circumstances that may have spelled the end for their opponents as well. Scott Steiner turned on his own brother during the WCW title defense, and the Russians concluded their BCCW victory over the Wolves by forcing their valet to watch them violate her team)

WOMAN of the WEEK: Trish Stratus (AGPW)
(Trish is on pace to unseat Mildred Burke as the longest reigning Woman’s champion of all time, and may have the record for most “Woman of the Week” selections by yours truly. “The Big Event” does it again this week with another successful title defense, this time against Taylor Wilde.)

MATCH of the WEEK
Stone Cold Steve Austin © vs. CM Punk for the World title at WCW Great American Bash -- click here --
Punk went for the knockout shot, but it ended up biting him in the end, as he is now knocked from the Stone Cold Stunner. Austin turns Punk around and he hooks the legs of CM Punk! 1.....2....3!!! It's OVER! STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN HAS COME TO WCW AND RETAINED HIS TITLE! CM Punk gave it all he had, but we see Steve Austin put him away for good. CM Punk is on the mat and he is getting checked on by Paul Heyman on the outside of the ring, as we see in the ring is Steve Austin, and he is hosting a beer bash to end the show. CM Punk is PISSED OFF, as we Steve Austin is hoolding the title and a beer and he begins pouring beer in the direction of CM Punk and Paul Heyman as Austin keeps showing off the title and beer. Ross is going crazy on commentary for his favorite as Jesse Ventura is telling him to shut his mouth, as Austin ends the show celebrating.
