CCW News and Rumors[/u]
Burchill asks for release
In a surprise move, Paul Burchill has asked for his release from Continental Championship Wrestling. Burchill was said to not be happy with the way he was being used. This was primarily the feud with Adrian Street which seemed to only exist to get Street into a pirate costume. Burchill also lost on the last episode of Superstar Wrestling to Ric Flair. Word was that this would lead to Burchill becoming a protégé or sidekick to Flair. Burchill was not happy about that, preferring to be his own man.
Vicious and Delicious released for wellness failures
Recent contract renewals with CCW also came with wellness tests. It was believed that nobody would have trouble passing, but Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton failed. Ron Fuller announced a zero tolerance policy and immediately cut Vicious and Delicious, who weren’t doing much on the roster anyway. Tests results revealed that the team, in scientific terms, “smoked a shit ton of weed.” Bagwell claimed they eat a lot of Big Macs on the road and the sesame seeds on the buns led to a false positive. Fuller told him that it’s poppy seeds that cause a false positive. Bagwell then said “fuck,” hung his head and left Fuller’s office.
Previous talent resigns, Natural Disasters also dropped
The Natural Disaster of Earthquake and Typhoon were also dropped due to CCW having a pretty crowded tag scene. On the last episode of Superstar Saturday, the Disasters were paid off by Andy Kaufman to abandon John Studd in their tag team match. The plan was to then have the Disasters do a ‘nouveau rich trash’ gimmick based on the new found wealth. However, both men weren’t keen on the idea and a mutual parting of the ways was decided.
The sudden open roster slots led to the resigning of Jim Duggan, Jimmy Snuka and Don Muraco. The three had been let go and signed by Impact, which appeared to have folded before starting. John Studd was not re-signed and it’s believed he will take some time off from wrestling to be with his family and heal from old injuries.
Muraco has been resigned to Col. Robert Fuller as a manager and Snuka will go back to Missy Hyatt. Fuller will also keep Adrian Street and Hyatt will retain Tommy Rich. It’s believed beefing up those stables will help with a proposed Gulf Coast Six-Man Tag Team Title and that an announcement concerning the new belts could be on this coming episode of Superstar Saturday.

Perry Saturn put out a statement today addressing his recent suspension.
"Dan Severn, you coward! You wanna run me out of the territory, then bring it on! I'll fight anybody you got, and if they beat me, I'll take my contract and burn it and move on! If I win, Dan, and I'm gonna win, but if I win, I want a shot at your little poster boy Misawa and his belt! That belt belongs to me, I've never lost here in IPW and I am going to be the damn champion, whether you like it or not!"

The aftermath of Bash at the Beach may be felt for several days, but 24 hours after its conclusion, it's been reported that the Gulf Coast Varsity Club kicked Niko Bogojevic off the team. That shame led him to ask for his release from CWF, a request Bobby Heenan granted immediately.

Dan Severn has responded to Perry Saturn in a video posted to IPW's Twitter page.
"Saturn, you've tried to make a disgrace of this company since day one. Your actions have been dispicable, and yet there is no doubt you are one of the best wrestlers on the roster.
"You want to fight for your job? Fine. But you're not getting paid for it. You win a match against the man of my choosing and you can get your title shot. But if you lose, you are done, gone from the territory.
"You won't be getting paid, this match won't be sanctioned, no rules, just a referee to call for the bell when one man either gives up or can't continue.
"But I'm warning you, at ShowDown: Brooklyn, you will be facing one of the craziest, wildest men to ever grace the ring, a man no stranger to a street fight and a former World Heavyweight champion. You'll just have to find out who that is when you get there.
"I would say good luck, but I don't want to be disinginuine. So see you in Brooklyn."

The following card has been announced for the next IPW taped event:
"Friday Night Wrestling 2 - Boston, MA"
Middleweight Match Sean Waltman vs. Super Crazy
Heavyweight Match Curt Hawkins vs. Ridge Holland
Lightweight Match Gran Metallik vs. Jamie Noble
Heavyweight Match Austin Theory vs. Cameron Grimes
Lightweight Match Chad Gable vs. Dragon Lee
Middleweight Match Chris Candido vs. Dean Malenko
Lightweight Match Kushida vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
Middleweight Title Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Jerry Lynn
Jerry Lynn had this to say about his title shot:
"It has been awhile since I have held championship gold, and I am eager to get in there and win the belt. Buddy Murphy talks a lot, and he has done some things, but im not impressed with his resume or his all around skills. He has a few tricks, but I know I can overcome them. I am going to wrestle my match, and he is going to have a short run with that title when it is all said and done."
The champion, Buddy Murphy, had this to say about Jerry Lynn:
"Jerry Lynn is delusional and he is lucky to be in this match. He is riding high on his latest fifteen minutes and his mouth is writing checks that his ass simply can't cash. Jerry, mate, you're nothing more than an also-ran in every so called great match you've ever had. Nobody cares about you, and nobody thinks you're winning this belt because when it comes to the big moments, you can guarantee Jerry Lynn is going to shrink. Every big match Buddy Murphy has ever been in, he has shined, that is a known fact, indisputable. I am going to shine on you, Jerry, and run right through you, hitting you harder and faster than anybody ever has, and there's nothing you can do about it. Enjoy the big paycheck riding my coat tails, because it'll probably be your last."

Gilbert vs. Idol added to Flair for the Gold
Following the latest episode of CCW Superstar Saturday on Sports Channel America, a new match was added to Flair for the Gold on Sept. 5. The program features a six-man tag team match between Hot Stuff Incorporated and Missy's Men end in a no contest due to wild brawling. Off the air, Eddie Gilbert made a challenge to Austin Idol for a return match from Phoenix Rising with the added stipulation that if he wins, Gilbert gets a night with Missy Hyatt. Hyatt and Idol countered that if Idol wins, then Gilbert has to wear a dress for a month. Challenge accepted.
Gilbert commented, "And it's not going to be a hot night of hot love making with Hot Stuff when I win the match. I'm going to make Missy Hyatt clean my gutters, sweep the floors, grout my bathroom and whatever else I can think of. I agreed to their silly counter, because there is no way I can lose. But, if I do, you know I'll look way better in a dress than Missy ever could."

CWF ran their first house show since Bash at the Beach, and it featured a number of wrestlers who did not participate on the PPV card, including the recently acquired Lightning Express. However, CWF owner Bobby Heenan seemed to be in a foul mood, perhaps because his champion, Rick Rude, failed to win the MUW World title... but who knows. Citing a roster cap crunch, he pitted Tim Horner and Brad Armstrong against each other - in a loser leave town match! When both men protested the conditions, Heenan countered that if they didn't do it, he'd trade them out of the territory in separate deals, so with great reluctance, they worked against each other. It was a very scientific contest, and in the end, Armstrong won by reversing a sunset flip.

Hayabusa vs. Shane Helms

The following statement has been made via video on Twitter from Perry Saturn regarding Dan Severn's offer for ShowDown: Brooklyn to face a mystery opponent in an "Unsanctioned Street Fight" putting up his contract for a potential Heavyweight title shot:
"People think I'm stupid because I do things my own way and I don't give a fuck what anybody thinks. They think I am stupid because I don't follow their rules and don't give a damn. Well after all these years of being seen as some damn tag wrestler or undercard guy, look at this. Who's stupid now, Severn!? You're offering me a title shot if I beat the crap out of some chump in Brooklyn and you're waiving the rules!? Boy, you must like me after all.
"I don't care who it is that you've got. Throw anybody you want at me. I am ready for this fight. I don't give a damn about not getting paid, and you know it. It's a respect issue, and I have had to play the game this way to get some damn respect. You want to put some poor unsuspecting bastard in front of a highly motivated and dangerous Perry Saturn, then the blood is on your hands, boss!
"Say hello to you're next champion and if you don't like it you can kiss my ass!"
Severn would reply with simple Tweet in text.
"We will see about that. *revolver emoji* *revolver emoji*"
Take from that what you will.

Breaking news from the CWF - Michael Hayes, Jimmy Garvin, and Ray Gordy have all been released by Bobby Heenan! The reason for the mass exodus is unclear - whether it is injury-related, fear, embarrassment, or something else, "the Brain" has not elaborated on the move; nor has the lone man left in the Freebird stable, David Von Erich.

Tom Colohue of Sportskeeda is reporting that the original plan for the Unsanctioned Main Event of ShowDown: Brooklyn has been scrapped for unknown reasons. It was believed Mick Foley would be reprising his Cactus Jack gimmick at the show as a surprise opponent of Perry Saturn, but that has evidently fallen through.
He is reporting that there has been rumblings of a slight format shake up as well, as wrestlers contracted to the company are unhappy with the current set up. Whether that had anything to do with the change in the main event is unknown.
