Breaking news from the office of CWF Owner and President, Bobby Heenan: after this week's main event failed to determine a single top contender for Rick Rude's Florida Heavyweight championship, "the Brain" has come up with a solution that will crown that contender next week. Dusty Rhodes, Jack Brisco, and Nick Nemeth will compete in a round-robin, beat the clock challenge, where each man will compete twice and the fastest time of victory will determine Rude's next challenger!

Buddy Murphy posted the following message via video on his Twitter after seeing the most recent episode of CWF television.
Buddy Murphy: "Leave it to Bobby Heenan to try to manipulate the facts, and try to trick the masses into believing his sorry little sob story... This whole 'woe is me' business this bloke is spewing. Bobby, you throw your weight around and make money off the backs of men who actually work for a living. Mate, nobody feels sorry for you, you sack of shit.
"And yet you drop my name like you're so sad to see me go; so sad you can't make any money off ol' Buddy anymore. Mate, you're probably more likely to make money off my damn t-shirts now than you ever were when I was with the company, because once again, I am on top of the game and it's no thanks to you!
"I am the current, reigning and defending Middleweight champion, and everybody knows my name once again! Everybody knows I am the best once again! And unlike when I was in CWF jerking curtains, begging to get noticed, I am exactly where I belong now: in the main event, working big matches, making big money, and that's what I am all about.
"Dan Severn, he's got a tall order in front of him now, because Big Money Buddy has all the bargaining chips and I've beaten two of the best in the world en route to this championship. He has to find me a worthy opponent and he's got to cut me a fat fuckin' check to put the asses in those seats. But one day, you know, I can see the biggest payday of all, the greatest rematch maybe of my life coming down the pike, because I would like nothing better than face Brian Pillman once again and remove the tarnish on my name that was left when he sent me packing from the CWF.
"So Bobby, as usual, got get fucked, and Brian Pillman, maybe one day I will show you that when I am in my element, when I am feeling like the best in the world, that is exactly what I am. You may be a good wrestler and a decent champion, but you aren't ready to face Big Match Buddy in the big time, and I would be happy to make a fuck ton of money to prove that one day.
"Until then, peace to everybody out there! And hopefully if the numbers are right and they find somebody who wants to get their teeth knocked in, you'll see me wrestling and defending my title soon."
And with that, the video comes to an end.

Bobby Heenan has scheduled yet another title defense for the CWF Southern Heavyweight champion Brian Pillman, and it's a formidable foe - the Gulf Coast Varsity Club's massive Niko Bogojevic! Will the rest of the Club help the Pan-American bronze medalist, as they did with Nick Nemeth's matches earlier this month? Perhaps Heenan is counting on that...

More news has been made available for the Heavyweight Grand Prix, scheduled to begin next week. It has been confirmed that Tommy Dreamer will be making his debut for the company. It has also been confirmed that the first round will feature a match between long time friends, partners, and rivals Rob Van Dam and Sabu!
In another big announcement, Owen Hart has declared his intention to enter the tournament with the following statement:
"All I've been hearing is a bunch of crap from a bunch of losers out there talking about how I couldn't cut it against Jushin Liger! Like any of these critics and marks could do any better!
"The fact of the matter is, I took that match on short notice and I had to drop fifteen pounds to compete with that masked bozo on his terms. I wasn't at my full strength and he and everybody knows it!
"But I'm not one to make excuses or complain, that's not the kind of guy I am. No, I'm a winner! I'm the best wrestler in a long line of great wrestlers! I am the 'king' of the Hart dynasty, and I am officially entering the Heavyweight Grand Prix... Owen Hart at full force, full strength, and I'll be taking everybody down full stop on my way to proving I'm the best there is here in IPW! You can count on it!"

CCW News and Rumors
Talent released following contract expirations
Inside sources have leaked that outside of a few key names, all other talent initially signed to the rebooted Continental Championship Wrestling only had 30 day contracts. Those contracts expired the day after Phoenix Rising.
These contracts supposedly had nothing to do with financial concerns, but with seeing what talent best fit and could be found meaningful storylines and feuds. Released were Big John Studd, Jim Duggan, Jimmy Snuka and Don Muraco. Apparently contracts for other talent has been extended to 90 days.
It is known that Studd worked the latest Superstar Saturday taping and it’s believed he will be written off in an injury angle to help elevate Kaufman’s Krew. Studd and the Natural Disasters were booked in a six man tag team match with The Bodyguards and Yokozuna. It’s unknown if other talent will have reasons given for their leaving. It’s known that all released talent has been signed by Impact Wrestling, new to the Mash-Up Wrestling universe.
To compensate managers who have lost talent, Adrian Street has been assigned to Col. Robert Parker and Tommy Rich will be managed by Missy Hyatt. Rich, Street and Vicious and Delicious were also on the chopping block, but were granted extensions.
American Alpha move to IPW, Powers of Fear come to CCW
American Alpha is projected to be written off in an injury angle as well following the tag team ladder match at Phoenix Rising. The team was traded to IPW for Haku. CCW also signed the Warlord and Barbarian from free agency. The same day, Kaufman Enterprises filed a trademark for the name “Powers of Fear,” which would appear to be a combination of the tag team names Powers of Pain, which featured Warlord and Barbarian, and the Faces of Fear, which featured Haku and Barbarian. Talks have been about the group needing a mouthpiece with Andy Kaufman and Woman floated, but it’s felt the Powers of Fear would not fit with their other clientele. A new manager or valet could be hired soon for that role. This could play into CCW looking at adding a six man tag team championship.
Name referees arrive in CCW
CCW has been using local referees for its shows, but it’s felt that ‘name’ referees could help with legitimizing CCW as a major force, improve storylines and help with boosting match quality. Tommy Young has been hired as senior official with Joey Marella and Aubrey Edwards. Marella is the adopted son of Gorilla Monsoon, the current voice of CCW. It’s believed Edwards was hired as a way to inject more females into the product as CCW lacks a women’s division.

Bobby Heenan has announced the main event for the go-home show of Championship Wrestling from Florida, taking place just one week before Bash at the Beach, and it's a curious one. The CWF Florida Tag-Team champions, Billy Jack Haynes and Kerry Von Erich, will team up with the Southern Heavyweight champ, "Flyin" Brian Pillman in a six-man match against the Fabulous Freebird contingent of Michael Hayes, Jimmy Garvin, and David Von Erich... and if Pillman is pinned or submits to any of his opponent, he'll lose the title!
