Posting a “Road to AEW Dynasty” in lieu of this week’s Dynamite and Collision…just know that there were some great promos, a fun match or two and some final build to Dynasty (seen below) -
The Road to Dynasty kicks off with your hosts Pat McAfee and Taz, running down the card:
UWA Women’s Title Eliminator Match: Jade Cargill vs. Isis the Amazon
Jade Cargill has been unstoppable in her two-plus years in AEW, capturing the AEW Women’s Championship on her way to becoming Universal Women’s Champion — a title she has held for 14 months now. Cargill remains on an epic undefeated streak of 42-0, and has even started to hear the occasional cheer despite her cocky attitude.
Here, she’s facing her latest challenge in the form of the giant Isis the Amazon, who towers nearly a foot over Cargill. Isis has won her first three AEW matches in dominant fashion, and has laid Cargill out on successive episodes of Dynamite. Can Cargill overcome this obstacle?

Sit-down interview with Dustin Rhodes, who talks about growing up as his younger brother’s role model. He wanted to be the big brother to Cody that he wished he had. Somewhere along the line, Dustin feels like he failed Cody. That’s the only explanation Dustin can think of for why Cody has turned his back on fans and family. He wants to take the title from Cody and, hopefully, snap him back to reality.

AEW Tag Team Championships: The New Day © vs. The OC
The New Day added to their decorated tag team history by defeating Natural Selection earlier this year. The OC became top contenders by winning a battle royal earlier this year, and has had a dominant run against other tag teams. Can the New Day hang onto their belts, or will the OC end their reign early?

Extreme Rules: RVD vs. Mick Foley
Mick Foley has had his share of great matches against AEW talent over the past two years, but the hardcore veteran has decided to hang up his boots for the last time at the end of 2024. On the way there, he wants to relive some of his glory days and have matches with people he’s never faced off with before. He’s starting with RVD, who despite being in the same promotion over the years, they’ve never faced off before.
RVD agreed to the match as long as it’s contested under extreme rules.

TBS Championship: Alexa Bliss © w/ The Beautiful People vs. Britt Baker
Alexa Bliss defeated Sasha Banks in December to become the second TBS Champion in AEW, and she’s held the title with the help of her Beautiful People stablemates. Here, she faces the up-and-coming Britt Baker, who made a name for herself by winning the Owen Hart Cup earlier this year. Baker worked with Kris Statlander and Paige VanZant to try to even the odds against the Beautiful People, but Statlander was unable to overcome the odds. Can Baker? This past week on Dynamite. The Beautiful People attacked Baker backstage and spraypainted “ugly” on her back.
—
AEW Women’s Championship: Sasha Banks © vs. Kris Statlander
Sasha Banks is the fourth AEW Women’s Champion, defeating Ronda Rousey in February in a submission match. After defeating Rousey again, she’s looking for her next challenger, finding a motivated opponent in Statlander, who won a gauntlet match on Dynamite. She may have had some help in the match from Willow Nightingale, who attacked Beth Phoenix and made the veteran easy pickings for Statlander. Can the former alien pull off the huge upset?
—
Brian Cage vs. Sammy Guevara
Sammy Guevara failed to capture the AEW World Championship at Revolution after Cody Rhodes got DQ’d with a low blow. JBL told him he’d have to start at the bottom of the ladder, but after a few matches against the low card, former AEW International Champion Brian Cage challenged Guevara to a match. Cage is upset that Guevara is getting the attention that he is, and vows to end Guevara’s momentum.

Barbed Wire Death Match: Scotty Flamingo vs. Jon Moxley
Flamingo and Mox’s troubles started during the Owen Hart Cup after Mox defeated Flamingo, who alleged that Mox cheated to win by hitting him with an open fist. In March, Flamingo got his win back following a shot with brass knuckles. In recent weeks, the pair has had escalating attacks against each other, including baseball bats wrapped in barbed wire, a lead pipe and, on this past week's Dynamite, a candelabra. Flamingo said that Mox needs to stop trying to take his pretty away. The future is Flamingo, and Scotty is going to make Mox suffer on the way. Flamingo viciously attacked Mox with the candelabra, then wrapped Mox’s head in barbed wire when throwing out the challenge for the barbed wire death match. Ropes will be replaced with barbed wire, and the winner must pin his opponent and keep him down for a 10-count.

The Elite (Omega & the Young Bucks) vs. Goldberg, ? & ?
This feud has been brewing for months, ever since “someone” ran into Goldberg with a car in December to put the icon out of action and avoiding a match with Omega. Goldberg retaliated and worked his way into a triple threat match against Omega and Reigns, which Omega won by pinning Reigns.
Omega and Goldberg were set to finally face off in March, but the Young Bucks attacked before the match could get started. Now Goldberg challenged the Elite to a six-man tag match with his partners yet to be named. If Goldberg's team wins, he gets Omega one-on-one with no outside interference at Double or Nothing.

TNT Championship: Dean Malenko © vs. Wardlow
Dean Malenko has had quite the turnaround in the past two years. He was on an epic losing streak, then teamed with Peter Avalon for a while before finally getting back his mojo. He captured the vacated TNT Championship earlier this year and is determined to keep a hold of it by any means necessary, which generally means getting help from Jake Hager.
After winning the title, he and Hager were on Inside the NBA and let Shaq hold the title. Shaq is now a Malenko fan and will be in attendance for this match.
Malenko should have been facing Logan Paul here, but he and Hager put Paul through a table and gave him a concussion. Unfortunately for Malenko, Paul Heyman jockeyed his latest protege into position for the title match, and the beast Wardlow is looking for his first taste of championship gold.

AEW International Championship: Nick Aldis © vs. Triple H
Nick Aldis shocked the world by defeating Triple H at WCW Superbrawl last weekend. An enraged Triple H attacked Aldis later that night and has demanded a rematch for Dynasty.

AEW World Championship: Cody Rhodes © vs. Dustin Rhodes
The battle of the Rhodes Brothers. For the second time in 6 months, they will face off. But the circumstances are different this time. Now, Cody has shown that he will hang onto the championship through nefarious means, and has openly shown contempt for his dad and older brother. Dustin criticized Cody for leaning too much on the Rhodes name, and now that he's at the top, he's trying to shed his association with the family name.
Truly, Dustin is the one who paved his own path and did whatever it took to make an impression. Dustin wants to win his first world championship and teach Cody a lesson in the process.
In recent weeks, Cody's promos have been interrupted by flickering lights and stormy weather on the screen. What does that mean? Will we get any answers during Dynasty?
