N.W.A. Project Revival
Live from the Greensboro Coliseum
Greensboro, North Carolina
*After the opening video package, set to the tune of "Midnight Rider" by The Allman Brothers concludes, the light come up and we see N.W.A. President, the legendary Sam Muchnick standing center ring with a microphone in his hand.*
"Tonight, I proudly stand here, having been bestowed the honor of guiding the National Wrestling Alliance on the first steps toward it's return to glory. Tonight, the ghosts of legends past collide with the ring warriors of the present to present to you; N.W.A. Project Revival!!!! Tonight, we will see the crowning of a new N.W.A. Television, a new N.W.A. National Champion, a new set of N.W.A. Tag Team Champions, and in the Main Event, a new N.W.A. World Heavyweight Champion!!!! Tonight, a new era of the N.W.A. begins anew.........................................."
Before Muchnick could finish, the lights suddenly went out and were replaced by a red strobe light effect and the sounds of "Paint it Black" by The Rolling Stones. A red spotlight focuses on the entrance way as Father James Mitchell steps on to the stage. After a minute, the lights come back up to find the other 3 sides of the ring surrounded by Kevin Sullivan, Luna Vachon and Mordecai. Father James Mitchell makes his way into the ring and grabs the microphone from Muchnick.
"Shut your mouth you ancient fossil, nobody broke you out of the retirement home to hear you ramble about "the ghosts of legends past", or it's "return to glory". Your N.W.A. is dead old man! What you need to be talking about is MY vision for the N.W.A.. Screw the past, and to hell with tradition! My N.W.A. will be a much darker, violent place, and it will be led there, kicking and screaming by me and my House of Night!!! We will warp the N.W.A. towards our twisted vision and there is nothing anybody can do about it. Phase one, begins with you Muchnick. I noticed that in all the matches scheduled tonight to fill the title vacancies, none of them seem to include any members of my House of Night. Your fear and ignorance of our mission is clear, and that makes you a roadblock on our road to destiny, and it is time for us to clear the road!!"
Mordecai jumps in the ring and proceeds to grab Sam Muchnick by the throat, but before he can do anything else, the music of Jerry "The King" Lawler plays, and The King slides into the ring and goes right after Mordecai as Muchnick rolls out. Lawler gets some shots in on Mordecai, but is quickly overcome when Kevin Sullivan and Luna Vachon hit the ring. After a short beatdown, Mordecai hold up Lawler as Sullivan produces the dreaded Golden Spike from his trunks. Just as Sullivan is about to hit Lawler with the spike, security hits the ring and breaks everything up. As the House of Night makes their way up the aisle, Lawler speaks to Muchnick, who grabs the microphone.
"Mitchell, since you and your goons seem to be in the mood for a fight, I'll tell you what I'm gonna do. I don't care which one it is, you decide, but one of your minions will go one on one tonight with Jerry "The King" Lawler!!!!"
The ring crew cleans up from the brawl as Gordon Solie and Jim Ross make their way to the announce desk to welcome us all to N.W.A. Project Revival.
Match # 1
Nick Dinsmore -vs- Al Snow
2 of the most underrated mat technicians open tonight's show with a mat classic. After about 12 minutes of innovative offense and brilliant reversals, Dinsmore reverses a Snowplow attempt with a tight, inside cradle for the 3.
Winner: Nick Dinsmore
Match #2
The Blond Bombers (Pat Patterson & Ray Stevens) -vs- Original Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Randy Rose)
Great old school action with the Express trying to wear down the Bombers, and The Bombers picking a body part and chipping away at it. After a missed Rocket Launcher by the Express, Ray Stevens hits his Bombs Away finisher (top rope diving kneedrop) to pick up the victory in about 15 minutes.
Winners; The Blond Bomber
Match #3 for the vacant N.W.A. Television Title
"The Total Package" Lex Luger -vs- Alexander Hammerstone (With Downtown Bruno)
2 musclebound powerhouses collide for the vacant Television Title. Power moves aplenty in the one as each man struggles to strike the strongest blow. Luger looked to put Hammer down with the running forearm smash, but Downtown Bruno hooked Lex's leg as he hit the ropes, providing just enough of a distraction for Hammerstone to hit the Nightmare Pendulum for the upset victory in 11 minutes.
Winner (And new N.W.A. Television Champion): Alexander Hammerstone
Match #4
Jerry "The King" Lawler -vs- Kevin Sullivan (With Father James Mitchell & The House of Night)
Immediate action in this one as Lawler goes straight at Sullivan with reckless abandon. Sullivan is bleeding almost immediately from Lawler's barrage of punches to the head. Lawler sets up for the piledriver, but The House of Night hits the ring, causing a disqualification at the 6 minute mark followed by another beatdown. Father James Mitchell stands over The King's limp body, produces an N.W.A. flag with the words "House of Night" spay painted over the logo in blood red letters, and covers Lawler's body with it before leaving.
Match #5 (For the vacant N.W.A. National Title)
"Big Cat" Ernie Ladd -vs- "Big" John Studd
In this true Battle of the Giants, Studd would repeatedly target Ladd's back in an attempt to soften him up for the backbreaker finisher, while Ladd would try and use his speed advantage to avoid Big John's attacks and tire him out. Studd would eventually manage to get Ladd up in the backbreaker, but The Big Cat would slide out and hit his Big Boot finisher on Studd. Big John would not go down however, forcing Ladd to hit another Big Boot, causing Studd to bounce off the ropes into a 3rd Big Boot for the finish at the 14 minute mark.
Winner (And new N.W.A. National Champion) "Big Cat" Ernie Ladd
Match #6
The Soviet Empire (Ivan & Nikita Koloff & Nikolai Volkoff) -vs- The Nation of Devastation (Mark Henry, Junkyard Dog & Bad News Brown) W/ "The Dr. of Style" Slick
Controlled chaos at it's finest as this rapidly devolved into gang warfare. The Soviet Empire picked up the victory after Nikita nearly beheaded JYD with the Russian Sickle clothsline after 9 minutes
Match #7 (For the Vacant N.W.A. World Tag Team Titles
The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) W/ Cpt. Lou Albano -vs- The Minnesota Wrecking Crew ( Gene & Ole Anderson)
The Road Warriors were taken to task like never before, as the Wrecking Crew's methodical, joint manipulation based offense, played perfect foil to the Warrior's high impact, blitzkrieg style attack. After 22 minutes of intense back and forth action, The Road Warriors managed to hit the Doomsday Device on Ole for the win.
Winners (and new N.W.A. World Tag Team Champions) The Road Warriors
Match #8[Main Event] (3 Man Elimination Match for the vacant N.W.A. World Heavyweight Title)
Bruno Sammartino -vs- Gunther -vs- Brock Lesnar
3 great technical powerhouses go to battle for the right to wear the famed 10 pounds of gold. Gunther would be the first elimination after being pinned by both of his opponent at the same time, but it would not come without a fight. After a backbreaker slam from Sammartino AND an F5 from Lesnar, Gunther still attempted to kick out, but the combined weight was just too much to move. 1 on 1, Bruno took the fight straight to the Beast, who countered with a flurry of German Suplexes. Sammartino, sensing he needed to do something big to put down Lesnar, climbed to the top rope, only to be caught and deposited right on his head and neck with an Avalanche German Suplex. One thunderous F5 later, and The Beast would stake his claim to The World Heavyweight Title after 39 minutes.
Winner (and new N.W.A. World Heavyweight Champion) "The Beast" Brock Lesnar
