AEW Collision
Jan. 27, 2024
Following the intro video, we get a brief video showing Jade Cargill’s AEW Women’s Championship win at Fyter Fest in 2022, with a graphic for tonight’s Universal Women’s Championship Celebration.
Coach and Paul Heyman are on commentary and run down the tournament. Heyman notes that it’s all a foregone conclusion: Wardlow is going to win, and then he’s going after some gold. They go straight to the ring for the first match: Jon Moxley vs. Kevin Nash
Match 1 - Owen Hart Tournament 2nd Round (Men’s)
Jon Moxley (7-5) vs. Kevin Nash (4-1)
- Nash has the clear power advantage early, but Mox doesn’t give up and hits a bulldog from the middle rope for a nearfall. Nash goes out for a breather, and Mox dives through the ropes onto Nash, not letting him rest.
- Nash later goes for the Jackknife, but Mox punches him down and lands on top, knocking Nash’s air from his lungs. He lifts Nash up and hits the Paradigm Shift to get the win in 10:38. Mox will face the winner of Kenny Omega vs. Scotty Flamingo in the finals.

Match 2 - Owen Hart Tournament 2nd Round (Men’s)
Hook (21-5) vs. Dean Malenko (14-13) w/ Jake Hager
- Hook and Malenko exchange a variety of submission holds and work largely on the mat in the early part of the match. Hook catches Malenko with a T-Bone Suplex, but before he can keep going, Hager pulls Malenko from the ring to recover. Hook hops on the top rope and hits a diving crossbody on both Malenko and Hager.
- He keeps the pressure on the outside until Malenko reverses a whip, sending Hook into the steps. Malenko signals to Hager to take the top steps off, then Malenko hits a piledriver on Hook on the bottom steel step. Rolls Hook in the ring, but it only gets 2.
- More back-and-forth, and Hook locks in the REDRUM! But Malenko is too close to the ropes. While the ref checks on Malenko, Hager hops on the apron and gets Hook’s attention. While they’re jawing, Malenko pops up and rushes over to Hook, knocking him head-first into Hager. Malenko rolls Hook up. Kick Out at 2. Malenko argues with the ref, while Hager slides in and chokes Hook.
- The outside interference continues, and Hook can’t overcome the numbers game as Malenko hits another Piledriver and goes for the pin, getting the win at 14:59. Malenko will face the winner of Wardlow vs. Miro in the semi-finals.

A final highlight reel, showing more of Cargill’s victories - defeating Alexa Bliss to go to 25-0 at Fyter Fest 2023; Double or Nothing when she retained the Universal Championship in a four-way, only for Bianca Belair to attack and brawl with her, allowing Paige VanZant to become AEW Champion; and finally some highlights of her previous battles with WCW’s Charlotte Flair, also retaining the Universal Championship.

Match 4 - Owen Hart Tournament 2nd Round (Men’s)
Kenny Omega (8-2) vs. Scotty Flamingo (9-8 overall; 1-0 as Flamingo)
With Flamingo waiting in the ring, Kenny Omega makes his entrance. As he’s headed down the aisle, someone jumps the barrier, rushes up the ramp and spears Omega! It’s Goldberg! He hits the Jackhammer for good measure, then asks for a mic. “It’s taken a little longer than I’d like, but Kenny Omega: You’re next!”
Coach reminds the fans that Goldberg was supposed to face Omega at Winter is Coming, until a car driven by a “mysterious” driver crashed into Goldberg and put him out of commission.
Omega wants to continue with the match, but Flamingo is able to get the win with a Piledriver after 5 minutes. Flamingo will face Mox in the next round of the tournament.

Jade Cargill’s Championship Anniversary Celebration
Cargill takes her time on the entrance, soaking in the celebration. The ring is decorated with an arch, a banner and balloons. She gets to the ring, where Taz is standing with a plaque. He congratulates Cargill on being Universal Women’s Champion for a full year — officially tomorrow — and for her nearly two undefeated years as an AEW star. He hands her the plaque and a mic, then gets out of the ring and heads to the announce desk to call the next match, since Heyman will be ringside with Wardlow.
Cargill - “From the day I stepped foot in an AEW ring, I knew I was better than all the women in the back. Hell, I knew I was better than all of the women in the world. And I’ve proven it. I am that b****. And I am unstoppable.” Bianca Belair’s music hits, and she comes down to the ring and walks around Cargill. She pulls a pin from her hair and starts popping the balloons before coming face-to-face with Cargill.
Belair - “I’m not out here to deny that you have been the top dog around here for a long time now. But I am out here to tell you that the EST is ready to take the mantle and knock you off your pedestal. I’m going to be the 1 in your soon-to-be 39-1 record.
Cargill smiles. “If I recall correctly, you’ve already tried once before to end my reign and my streak. It’s because of you that I don’t still have the AEW Women’s Championship around my waist as well. So I’ve still got a bone to pick with you. Nobody is standing in the way of me getting to 40 wins and 0 losses. Nobody is taking this championship from me. When I’m through with you, you won’t be the EST of anything. You’ll just be the HAS BEEN.”
Cargill shoves past Belair and leaves the ring, carrying the belt over her shoulder and her plaque in her arms.

Main Event - Owen Hart Tournament 2nd Round (Men’s)
Wardlow (4-0) w/ Paul Heyman vs. Miro (5-1)
The match starts with both men exchanging strikes and power moves, trying to gain the upper hand. Wardlow hits a dropkick and a German suplex. Miro responds with a clothesline and a Samoan drop, followed by a kick to the face. He goes for the Game Over submission, but Wardlow reaches the ropes.
Miro tries to keep the pressure on Wardlow, but Wardlow counters with a spinebuster and a knee strike. He climbs to the top rope and attempts a swanton bomb, but Miro rolls out of the way. Miro hits a superkick and a Machka kick, then covers Wardlow for a near fall. He argues with the referee, then picks up Wardlow for a powerbomb. Wardlow slips out and takes Miro’s knees out. He then hits a F-10 and pins Miro for the win at 12:27. He’ll face Dean Malenko in the semi-finals.
