AEW Rampage
Dec. 8, 2023
Cody Rhodes starts the show in the ring, sitting in much the same way as Malakai Black on Dynamite. He wants to give everyone a history lesson. It’s been his dream since he was a little boy to become World Champion. Finally, in AEW, he’s had that opportunity. A few people have stood in his way on his road to becoming a two-time World Champion: There was Jeff Jarrett and later Bill Goldberg. But before either of them entered the picture, Malakai Black struck and denied Cody the shot at becoming the first AEW World Champion. Everywhere Cody turned in early 2022, Black was there to kick him in the face. Then Black beat him in the ring; and then again in the cage before Rhodes beat got Black in a fair, brutal fight: a dog collar match.
The American Nightmare isn’t one to back down from a fight. And this will be a helluva fight.

Promo for tonight’s main event: Scott Hall vs. Shelton Benjamin

Match 1 - Britt Baker (4-2) vs. Michelle McCool (7-10)
Baker gets the win with the Lockjaw at 7:21.

Rey Mysterio comes out to the ring next. He takes a moment to go to ringside, where he finds the young fan that Malenko made fun of last week. Rey says he brought the fan and his family here this week to show them a better time. He talks about his legacy and says it’s been a great year in AEW. He looks forward to putting Dean Malenko in his place as he heads onto his next adventure.
Malenko interrupts and talks about their time, nearly 30 years ago, when all the young kids wanted to dress up like Rey Mysterio Jr. All of these kids idolized him just because Rey could do a few flips. All while real men like Dean Malenko carried the WCW cruiserweight division on their backs, and Rey got the adoration. Well that time is over.
While Malenko is talking, his masked henchman slides in the ring and attacks Mysterio from behind. He hits a powerbomb and then stands over Mysterio and unmasks to reveal Jake Hager! Malenko reveals that Mysterio has a match next week against Hager, before Malenko and Mysterio face off at Winter is Coming.

After coming back from break, we see a shot of a beach as some uptempo early-90s sounding music plays. As the camera pans, a surfboard is sticking out of the sand.
—
Pat McAfee and Coach hype up Winter is Coming and announce the Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royale, featuring the return of Hook and 9 other AEW stars. The winner of the battle royale will face Sammy Guevara in January for the Dynamite Diamond Ring and TNT Championship.
—
Match 2 - Los Parks (5-12) vs. The Acclaimed (7-7)
The Acclaimed get the win when Anthony Bowens rolls up LA Park at 9:49.
—
Jeff Cobb is backstage pacing. He says he’s having deja vu because he got rid of one stoner in Matt Riddle and another in RVD has surfaced. Cobb says he’s ready for his next challenge, and if he has to go through Rob Van Dam to get there, he’s fine with that.
—
The Beautiful People, led by Alexa Bliss, come to the ring for a chat. Bliss talks about making the AEW Women’s Division Pretty Again, and Sasha Banks just isn’t cutting it in the beauty department. That’s why Tony Khan agreed to Banks defending the TBS Championship against Bliss at Winter is Coming.
Banks appears on the screen and says she’s not in the arena tonight, but she’s had Tony Khan Zoom her in for this. She doesn’t care which member of the Beautiful People she faces, but she wants to take someone to the bank next week on Rampage. She doesn’t want to wait two weeks; she wants some revenge sooner.

Main Event - Scott Hall (2-0) w/ Kevin Nash vs. Shelton Benjamin (2-3) w/ Cedric Alexander
Alexander tries interfering in the match, which draws Kevin Nash over. Nash jackknifes him through the announce table! This distracts Benjamin, allowing Hall to score the win with the Razor’s Edge at 11:49.
After the match, Brian Cage rushes down to ringside and starts throwing punches with Kevin Nash. The two men are eventually separated by security.
Tony Khan comes out to the stage and announces that Cage has been trying to dodge defending the AEW International Championship in actual AEW for months now, while he keeps defending it against non-AEW wrestlers. It’s time to put a stop to that: Cage is defending against Kevin Nash next week on Dynamite! The winner is AEW International Champion — and will get to travel to Australia for WCW’s Starrcade International event!
Cage throws a tantrum and starts tossing security personnel, while Cesar Duran is nearby and tries calming him down as the show goes off the air.
