AEW Dynamite
Dec. 6, 2023
After the Dynamite opening, the arena goes fully dark. When the lights come back on, Malakai Black is sitting in the middle of the ring with a microphone. The crowd boos and cheers for Cody, as Black just sits still, waiting for the chants to die down. When they quiet down, Black speaks — He’s lost his way over the past year, chasing ghosts. He’s been biding his time, waiting for the right time to strike. Cody Rhodes provided the opportunity. Cody has been nigh unstoppable during the past two years, with a few notable exceptions: Bill Goldberg. Kenny Omega. And Malakai Black, the only man to beat Rhodes twice. Black’s star was on the rise. Then he got sidetracked by other things. But now he’s back and ready to take his place at the top of AEW.

The OC gets the win with Anderson hitting the Gun Stun on Jungle Boy in 8:40.

We see Wardlow entering the arena. He asks an employee if they’ve seen Jeff Jarrett yet. They haven’t.

AEW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey is out next. She recaps her win over Bianca Belair at Full Gear and mentions that she is on her way to becoming the best AEW Women’s Champion of all time. This brings out UWA Women’s Champion Jade Cargill, who is laughing. She mentions that she never really lost the AEW belt and is coming for it again the first chance she has.
Bianca Belair joins Cargill on-stage and says she’s tired of hearing Rousey and Cargill jaw about who the baddest b**** on the planet is. Belair was close to winning the AEW belt at Full Gear, and she wants another shot. Cargill makes a move toward Belair, who dodges and catches Cargill with a roundhouse kick, knocking her down. Belair starts walking down toward the ring. She slides in and goes toe-to-toe with Rousey, who shoves past her and leaves the ring. Rousey and a rising Cargill have a staredown before Rousey continues to the back.

Match 2 - Kris Statlander (5-1) vs. The Bunny (1-3)
Statlander gets the win with the Big Bang Theory in 3:19.

DX is out to the ring next. After the usual catchphrases, Triple H grabs the mic and says he’s got some words for Wardlow. Their paths weren’t going to cross any time soon, but Wardlow’s temper is writing checks that he can’t cash.
Triple H is cut off by LAX’s music, and Konnan grabs the mic. He says Wardlow was like the New Age Outlaws’ knight in shining armor because he saved them from getting embarrassed by LAX last week. Konnan, Homicide and Hernandez are the premier trio in AEW, and they’ve been here since day one. Konnan challenges DX to a six-man tag match at Winter is Coming.
Triple H accepts the match, then says he’s actually itching for a fight tonight. He wants to see Konnan in the ring…right now!

Match 3 - Triple H (0-0) vs. Konnan (2-2)
Konnan gets an early shot in with some early offense, thanks in part to Hernandez tripping up the Cerebral Assassin, but Triple H gets the win with the Pedigree in 9:30, after the New Age Outlaws brawl with Homicide and Hernandez through the crowd.
After the match, Wardlow’s music hits and the big man walks out. Konnan exits quickly, while Triple H stands in the ring and beckons for Wardlow to join him. Wardlow grabs a mic and says that he’s not after Triple H…last week was just a matter of wrong time, wrong place for DX. Wardlow’s fight is with Jeff Jarrett right now. Wardlow says he isn’t leaving this ring until Jarrett comes out and responds to his challenge.
Instead, JBL and Shawn Spears walk down to the ring, both carrying baseball bats. Triple H leaves after a brief staredown with JBL. Spears informs Wardlow that Jarrett is on vacation this week. Wardlow responds that that’s too bad, and he explodes into a spear on JBL. Spears responds quickly and hits Wardlow in the back with his bat. Wardlow whirls around on him, only to catch a bat to the face, knocking the big man down. Spears slides out of the ring and pulls JBL with him as they run to the back. Wardlow recovers and chases after them.

Natural Selection is backstage, standing with their championships. Cesar Duran touts Brian Cage’s upcoming trip to Australia, where he’ll be defending the AEW International Championship at WCW’s Starrcade event. He then puts over Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander, who will be defending their tag team championships against the Outsiders later this month…
In walk Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, without their Diesel and Razor Ramon gimmicks. Nash says they had to go back to where they started to get some of their mojo back. Now they’re the Outsiders again, and the AEW Tag Team Championships are about to come back home to them.
—
Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo come out to the ring. Guevara said their pride was damaged a little bit at Full Gear — not to mention their taste buds — but he’s still the TNT Champion, and Melo still has the upper hand over Britt Baker in singles competition. Guevara talks about how he’s defeated two of Mick Foley’s alter egos; he wants to get the best of Mankind next.
—
Match 4 - Big E Langston (9-3) w/ Kofi & Xavier Woods vs. Solo Sikoa (2-0) w/ The Usos
Sikoa gets the win after a hard-fought slugfest with the Samoan Spike at 14:49.

Wardlow is storming through backstage when he comes across Tony Khan, who is on the phone. Khan is heard asking when the person can get here to take care of the situation. Wardlow takes the phone from Khan’s hand, drops it on the ground and crushes it.
Khan says that was uncalled for, but he’ll let it slide because Wardlow is clearly distressed. Khan says he’ll even give Wardlow something he really wants tonight: Shawn Spears in the main event. Wardlow asks about Jeff Jarrett, and Khan says Jarrett isn’t booked right now for Winter is Coming. If Wardlow can beat Spears tonight, Khan will book Jarrett vs. Wardlow in two weeks. Wardlow actually smiles…which unsettles Khan…before walking away.
Khan pulls another cell phone out of his pocket and dials a number. He tells the person that he needs him a little sooner than he thought.
—
The Elite go to the ring next, and Kenny Omega has the mic. He addresses Goldberg warning him that he’s next. Omega says he’s the best in the world. Why would he be afraid of Goldberg? The Elite are always a step ahead of the competition, and Goldberg needs only to name the time and place, and he’ll be there.
This brings out…The Bloodline, which confuses Omega. Roman Reigns says they’ve already broken up one faction in AEW with the Apex. He has no qualms with destroying another group in The Elite. Omega says he’ll throw the Bloodline a bone. He’s got his hands full with Goldberg right now. But The Young Bucks? He asks them if they want to get Ucey. They nod their heads. But as the Bloodline walks down the ramp and gets in the ring, The Elite slide out and scamper up the ramp.

Match 5 - Rob Van Dam (4-2) vs. Johnny Grunge (0-0)
Van Dam gets the win the Five Star Frog Splash in 8:30. After the match, RVD grabs the mic and talks about Jeff Cobb putting Matt Riddle in the hospital last week. He says it’s not cool to do a bro like that and says that Cobb is going to get the Whole F’n Show next week.
—
The Acclaimed are backstage. Max Caster raps about the tag team division needing new blood at the top, and says they’re young and hungry and ready to blow the roof off of AEW.
—
We get an injury update on Harley Race and Matt Riddle. Riddle has a herniated disc coming out of Jeff Cobb’s attack last week, and Riddle will be out of action for at least 6 weeks. Harley Race has a severe concussion following his brutal Last Man Standing Match with Kenny Omega and is also out for at least 2 months.

Main Event - Wardlow (2-0) vs. Shawn Spears (11-7) w/ JBL
Wardlow gets the win with a Powerbomb Symphony in 5 minutes. After the match, he’s yelling into the camera that he’s going to destroy Jeff Jarrett…then the camera jerks and smashes Wardlow in the face…the cameraman was Jarrett!
Wardlow is busted open and down on the mat as JBL slides in the ring. He, Jarrett and Spears work to lift Wardlow up and tie him in the ropes. Jarrett grabs a guitar from under the ring to smash over a helpless Wardlow…when “Break it Down” plays and Triple H runs out to the ring!
JBL looks wide-eyed at The Game, who rushes him and hits a spinebuster. Triple H kicks Spears in the gut and hits the Pedigree. Jarrett starts backing up and slides out of the ring with a panicked look on his face.
Wardlow gets free of the ropes and glares at a departing Jarrett as Triple H offers a handshake. Wardlow grabs his hand, then pulls Triple H toward him and hits him with a vicious clothesline. He screams that he doesn’t need any help as the show goes off the air.
