AEW Dynamite
Aug. 9, 2023
We start the show by seeing Dean Malenko arrive at the arena with a police escort. He tells them to keep an eye out for Miro and Ken Shamrock. He’s paying them big bucks to keep Shamrock and Miro away from him.
Match 1 - Alexa Bliss (7-5) vs. Angelina Love (5-5)
Bliss gets the win with Twisted Bliss at 5:18 and talks after the match about next week’s Summer Smash, which is filled to the brim with female talent…except it’s missing The Goddess, Alexa Bliss.
She gets interrupted by Beth Phoenix, who hasn’t been seen in AEW for a couple months. Phoenix says that she and Bliss are tied together. She helped rescue Bliss from under the thumb of Abadon, and then they all disappeared while the rest of the women’s division moved on. Phoenix says it’s time for them to stick together and show the rest of the women’s roster why they should fear the Goddess and the Glamazon. Bliss says she’ll think it over.

We see the same video from last week, showing palm trees and a Miami Vice-like theme song. As the camera pans down a highway lined with palm trees, it eventually runs into a pitch-black semi-truck that is speeding along the highway. It passes a sign for Chicago, Ill., which is where All Out is being held on Sept. 9.
—
Match 2 - Homicide (0-3) vs. Karl Anderson (0-0)
Anderson gets the win with a roll-up in 6:38.
—
Matt Riddle - one half of the AEW Tag Team Champions - is playing Dance, Dance Revolution in his dressing room when there’s a knock at the door. He asks Jeff Cobb to grab the door, and he does…and in walks Johnny Grunge and “Flyboy” Rocco Rock of Public Enemy! Riddle looks starstruck and stops moving, causing his game to end.
Grunge and Rock say they’re sorry, they thought they were knocking on the tag team champions’ door. Cobb replies that they’re in the right place. Grunge and Rock look at each other, then back at the champions and shrug. They say that they’re coming to AEW, for at least a little while, and they have a tag team title match in 2 weeks. Public Enemy leaves and Riddle has a big smile on his face while Cobb scowls at him.
—
Match 3 - MVP (6-4) vs. Wardlow (1-0) w/ The Apex
Wardlow gets the win with a powerbomb symphony in 7:48. He grabs the mic afterward and says that he’s going to do the same thing to Roman Reigns next week at Summer Smash.
—
After the break, Dean Malenko comes out to the ring with his police escort. He talks about recent events with Ken Shamrock and Miro. He knows he’s gotten under both of their skins, but there’s only so much of him to go around. So, he’ll make them a deal — Miro and Shamrock beat the snot out of each other next week, and Malenko will face the winner at All Out. But if either of them put a finger on Malenko in between now and All Out, he will win via forfeit at the pay-per-view.
—
Match 4 - Rob Van Dam (4-2) vs. The Butcher (0-3)
RVD gets the win with the Five Star Frog Splash in 4:49.
—
Cesar Duran and Natural Selection are backstage. Brian Cage is standing with the International Championship Belt. Duran says that last week was just a taste of what Cage is going to do to Big E during their International Championship match next week. Cage is a dominant champion, and he’ll continue to exert his dominance over the AEW roster. And once Cage beats Big E, Natural Selection will be officially finished with the New Day.
—
Match 5 - The American Wolves (7-9) vs. Jurassic Express (9-7)
The Wolves get the win following a low blow from Richards to Jungle Boy, and a super kick, in 8:49.
—
Jade Cargill comes out to the ring with the Universal UWA Women’s Championship prior to her tag team match. She talks about her upcoming cage match with Charlotte Flair this weekend, and says she won’t complain about having to defend the UWA Championship 4 days later against Bianca Belair. Belair says she’s the EST? Cargill is the true measuring stick, and will be here long after Belair is broken down and beaten up.
—
Main Event - Jade Cargill and Tay Melo w/ Sammy Guevara vs. Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks
Both pairs of future opponents get chances to shine against each other. Every time Cargill goes for her Jaded Finisher, she gets interrupted. Eventually, she and Belair brawl away from the ring and through the crowd, while Melo and Banks are in the ring. Guevara tries to distract the ref, but Hook comes running from the back and takes Guevara out with the TNT Championship! Banks gets kicked by a big kick from Melo, who gets 2. Banks fights back and wins with a Bank Statement in 14:49. She poses after the match and looks longingly at the TBS Championship.
AEW Rampage
Aug. 11, 2023
The show kicks off with AEW World Champion Bill Goldberg coming to the ring. He talks about being the longest tenured AEW World Champion, and the winningest. Goldberg says he knows Cody Rhodes is next, but it doesn’t matter who’s next. Goldberg winning is inevitable.
He’s interrupted by Cody Rhodes, who says the clock is ticking on Goldberg’s title reign. In about four weeks, the belt is coming back to Rhodes. Goldberg says the only thing that is ticking is the time left on Rhodes’ wrestling career.
Suddenly, the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega rush out from the back and attack Rhodes and start a beatdown. This lasts until Harley Race and Dustin Rhodes run out from the back. Race gets the mic and says the six of them need to settle this in the ring next week. Omega agrees and asks if Race remembers him. Race looks at him with a questioning look, but the Elite walk off.
—
Match 1 - Jake Hager (11-7) vs. Miro (3-0)
Miro gets the win after a hard-fought back-and-forth match, at 9:58. He says he would run through a brick wall to get another shot at crushing Malenko.
—
Match 2 - Ken Shamrock (1-1) vs. Sabu (2-0)
Shamrock gets the win with an ankle lock in 9:41.
—
Mick Foley (as Cactus Jack) is backstage with Taz and Raven before their match. He tells them to be careful with Black and Wyatt. He feels like they have something up their sleeves, but he’ll have their back if needed.
—
Main Event - Malakai Black and Bray Wyatt vs. Taz and Raven
The match ends after Raven hits the Evenflow DDT on Wyatt and the lights go out. When they come back on, Black and Wyatt are gone from the ring, and Raven and Taz are wondering what’s happening. They go out again, and maniacal laughter is heard. When the lights return again, two masked figures are in the ring. They attack a stunned Taz and Raven until Cactus Jack runs out. The lights go out again, and when they come back on the two figures are gone, and Taz and Raven are out in the middle of the ring.
