WCW Thursday Thunder episode 28 for 07.06.23
Taped from the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina
Commentary: Gorilla Monsoon and Wade Barrett
Ring Announcer: Gary Michael Cappetta
Interviewer: SoCal Val
Referees: Tommy Young, Joey Marella and Aubrey Edwards
Lady Frost defeated Amber Nova by pinfall via Ice Pick DDT at 5:55. Post match, Frost teases the crowd with a possible butt shot by pulling at her trunks.
Segment Notes
*The strip tease wasn’t planned and is part of Frost campaigning for the Playboy centerfold spot. It didn’t get a great reaction and Shane McMahon wasn’t happy with it.
*This is the second week in a row Nova has been used as an enhancement talent on Thunder. A contract could be in her future.

In pre-taped promo, Thunder Rosa put over Charlotte Flair as a great wrestler and a great champion and she hopes Flair beats Jade Cargill at Phoenix Rising for the UWA Women’s Title. However, Rosa is still the WCW Women’s U.S. Champion and she is going to refocus on defending that belt and being the best champion she can be. The WCW women’s division is a hidden gem in the UWA and she’s going to showcase it.
Segment Notes
*The August ppv might be only women, or there could be a women’s only special on Tubi.
*The promo served three purposes: hype Flair vs. Cargill for Phoenix Rising, give credit to the women’s division overall for a possible women’s only special and put Rosa over as the U.S. Champion.

Davey Boy Smith defeated “Quick Draw” Rick McGraw by pinfall via running power slam at 3:44.
Segment Notes
* Those wrestling on Thunder are usually those who have promo or other spots on Nitro, but not wrestling a match. Davey Boy Smith was involved in a dressing room segment with the Hart Foundation.
-----
Promo for Phoenix Rising on July 30 in Mobile, Alabama is shown.
-----
Tamina Snuka defeated Jayme Jamison by pinfall via Superfly Splash at 3:40.
Segment Notes
* Commentators mention how Snuka and Taya Valkyrie are vying to join the nWo.

Sir William Regal defeated Robert Gibson by submission via the Regal Stretch at 6:05.
Segment Notes
*Regal needed the win after the losses to the Southern Boys. Commentators got over how Regal was more focused and wasn’t taking Gibson lightly as he did the Southern Boys.
*It’s possible the Blue Bloods vs. Rock ‘n Roll Express could become a lower card tag feud.

Ernie Ladd delivers a pre-taped promo on Tony Atlas about their match at Clash of the Champion. Footage of it is shown in the corner as he talks. “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You’re a sick man Tony Atlas. I beat you fair and square in the middle of that ring, then you jump a man from behind and lay him out just so you can jam your bunion and crusted foot in his mouth. I don’t know what sick pleasure you get from that, Tony Atlas, and I don’t want to know. What I do know is that while I won a battle, I did not win the war and it is far from over between the two of us.”
Segment Notes
* A rematch with a stipulation is assured for Phoenix Rising.

The Pillmans (Brian Sr. and Brian Jr.) defeated Proud and Powerful by pinfall of Brian Sr. on Sanatana via double team Air Pillman at 13:30.
Segment Notes
* The Pillmans are going to get a tryout as a tag team. This was given a good bit of time for a Thunder match to try them out against an experienced team. Rumors have the Pillmans vs. Roberts and Mamba possible for Phoenix Rising.
