Dark Matches.
1. 4 Women Tag Team Match. Wendi Richter & Tegan Nox beat Taeler Hendrix & Mschif. Nox nails the win with the Shinning Wizard on Mschif for the pin. Lots of tagging from both teams in an exciting tag contest.
2. 4MTTM. Wild-eyed Southern Boys (Steve Armstrong & Tracy Smotherns) fall to the British Bullies (Les Thornton & Tony Charles). Thornton with the pin on Smotherns and illegal switch & knee drop onto Tracey's back. Fans appeared stunned by the change of heart by the formerly popular British duo.
Pay-Per-View Show
The Mattmania Pay-Per-View kicks off with announcers Gordon Solie & Rick Stewart at the announcer's desk with interviewer Charly Caruso. Solie welcomes the fans to the new era of the NWA in the New Year 2023. They immediately go to the ring for the first match of the PPV.
1. Single Match. Danny Hodge suffered a rare loss to The Great Kabuki w/mgr. 'Playboy' Gary Hart. (14:53). Hart distracted Hodge long enough to nail Danny with a kick under his chin for the loss.
Caruso backstage interview with Mr. Wrestling 1# & 2# about facing the America-hating New Zealand Sheepherders one more time. The masked fan favorites plan on coming out on top one more time.
2. Ordered Back 4 Man Tag Team Match. Mr. Wrestling 1 & 2 beat the New Zealand Sheepherders (Butch Miller & Luke Williams). (16:23). Mr. Wrestling 1# finally was able to lock the sleeper on Williams after 2# knocked Miller through the ropes with a running knee lift to the floor. Both Wrestling's had their masks badly torn by the Sheepherders during a very wild match that saw the Sheepherders consistently double-teaming the fan favorites in their corner.
Caruso interview with 'Playboy' Buddy Rose who is supporting a cast on his hand. The Playboy says he has an injured hand & cannot wrestle. He is going to the ring to prove he should not have to wrestle the Cowboy.
3. Lumberjack Rules Match. (Includes Can-Am Express as lumberjacks). 'Cowboy' Bill Watts, supporting a bandage on his forehead from last night, pinned 'Playboy' Buddy Rose with the Oklahoma Stampede. (11:15). After stalling by the Playboy, claiming he hand was injured. Watts grabbed the wrist & banged it repeatedly into the turnbuckle until the cheap plaster broke to reveal Rose's lie. Rose consistently bailed from the ring but was thrown back by the lumberjacks. A low blow from the Playboy slowed the Cowboy down temporarily but he came back to beat the stuffings out of Rose before pinning him.
Caruso backstage interview with Anna Jay who is still bitching about facing Kana for the inaugural United States Women's Belt. Anna says winning the belt will force Mandy Rose to defend the NWA World;s title against her so Anna can get her belt back.
4. Inaugural NWA United States Women's Title Match. Kana (in Muta style makeup) submitted Anna Jay with the Kanalock to win the US Belt. (15:54). Jay jumped Kana at the bell with punches & kicks in an attempt for a quick victory, but it didn't work. Anna tried injuring Kana's arm by banging them against the ring post. While Jay was yelling at the referee, Kana mounted a speedy counterattack on Anna with punches, kicks & butt bumps. Kana damaged one of Jay's arms with a series on knee drops, rendering her applying the Queenslayer ineffective before putting Anna away.
We go back to the desk with Solie & Stewart with comments on the first four matches before going to the 10-minute break with highlights from last night's NWA card from Charlotte.

Highlights include NWA World's Tag Team Title Match. (Champs): Kenta Kobashi & Mitsuharu Misawa w/mgr. 'Playboy' Gary Hart retain belts retain title over (Challs): Jack & Gerald Brisco. Misawa pinned Gerald after a short-armed lariat.
Solie remarks that the Brisco Brothers have a chance to win the inaugural United States Tag Team Belts tonight.
Next clip features the NWA World's Heavyweight Title Match. (Champ): Greg 'the Hammer' Valentine w/mgr. James J. Dillon retaining his title over (Chall): 'Universal Heartthrob' Austin Idol by submission to the figure -four leg lock.
We begin the second half of the PPV.
5. Inaugural NWA United States Heavyweight Title Match. Don Muraco lost to Bob Roop w/mgr. James J. Dillon. Roop with Shoulder Breaker on Muraco with an assist from NWA World's Heavyweight Champion Greg 'Hammer' Valentine. (16:33). Back-n-forth match early on between Roop & Muraco. The match turned in Roop's favor when Dillon distracted the official to get Bob a breather outside of the ring. Muraco followed Roop but was attacked from the crowd by Valentine wielding a chair. Greg nailed Don on the shoulder with the chair before heading back into the crowd. The referee turned but missed it. Muraco got back into the ring where Roop went to work on the injured body part, setting him up for the shoulder breaker.
Caruso backstage interview with the Brisco Brothers who state they came so close last night to winning the NWA World's Tag Team Belts. They have the confidence they can win the United States Tag Team Belts tonight.
6. Inaugural NWA United States Tag Team Title Match. The Brisco Brothers (Jack & Gerald) defeated Dillon Dynasty's 'Dirty' Dick Slater & 'Ace' Bob Orton Jr. w/mgr. James J. Dillon. (18:02). Jack with the figure four on Orton Jr. to win US Tag Team Belts. In the closing minutes, Jack & Gerald trapped Orton Jr. in their corner. The Brisco's tagged in and out repeatedly, leaping over the top rope onto Orton's leg which was held by the other Brisco. The maneuver gave the Brisco's the win. Earlier in the match, Slater & Orton Jr. isolated Gerald in their corner & worked him over pretty good until a miscue by Slater allowed Gerald to tag Jack who had the heels on the defense. JJ pitched a fit ringside the Brisco's turned the tide against his team. After the match, JJ had words with Slater while Roop had come down to help Orton Jr. back to the dressing room.
Caruso backstage interview with the NWA World's Junior Heavyweight Champ Finn Balor in Demon makeup. Balor says he is going to show Chris Benoit what a real champion is when the stomps a mudhole in the Crippler in a few minutes.
7. NWA World's Junior Heavyweight Title Match. (Champ): Finn Balor dropped the title to (Chall): 'Crippler' Chris Benoit by submission to the Crippler Crossface. (16:55). Balor came out as his Demon alter ego, but it didn't deter Benoit. Even after the bell rang, the two had a stare down before the challenger took the champ down with a takedown. The champ utilized his fast pace, high moves while Benoit grounded Balor when the opportunity came up. Beloit took it to Balor twice trying to lock the champ in his pet hold but was unable to. Finn In the final seconds, Balor dropkicked Benoit into the turnbuckle with Chris collapsing on the mat. When the champ went up for the Coupe de Grace, he slipped & fell hitting his side on the ring. The challenger rolled over on to lock in his finisher to win the belt.
Caruso backstage interview with an angry Ole Anderson & his brothers say the time is now to put away Brody & Hansen & that other Texas nut Murdoch. That is a guarantee.
8. Texas Tornado Rules Six Man Match. No DQ Rule Waved. One Fall to a Finish! Dick Murdoch, 'Bruiser' Brody & Stan 'Lariat' Hansen vs. The Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Gene, Lars & Ole Anderson). (6:31). Brody pins Ole with a leg drop in a bloody brawl. The Andersons (wearing street clothes, taped fists & real boots) hit the ring first followed by Brody (w./chain, Hansen (w/bullrope) & Murdoch (w/chair). The brawl is one. It's Dick vs. Gene, Lars vs. Stan & Ole vs. Bruiser to kick it off. The six are going at it hot and heavy. Murdoch gets throw over the top rope to the floor followed by Gene who posts Dick, taking him out for a few minutes. They use Hansen's rope to tie him in a corner after throwing a powder in Brody's face. Then it is 3 Andersons on Brody who is fighting like a madman. Dick is up ringside punching at the invisible man. However, Stan has got loose & tossed Lars over the top rope into the fists of Dick who found a visible punching bag. Hansen lariats Gene & drags him into the corner as Brody punches Ole until he collapses on the match. Then Bruiser hits the leg drop for the 1-2-3. Murdoch crawls back into the ring with his partners. Meanwhile, the banged-up Anderson Brothers stagger back to the dressing room.
In the final moments, Gordon & Rick are joined by Charly to run down the finishes of the card before announcing the next PPV is set for Saturday, Feb. 18. Mardi Garas Mayhem will be held at the Superdome in New Orleans, La. Appearing on that cared will be all three UWA World Champions who will be defending their titles on this card.
