AEW Dynamite - Nov. 23, 2022
The show starts with Jade Cargill’s music, and out walks the undefeated AEW Women’s Champion, wearing the belt around her waist and a scowl on her face. She gets to the ring and grabs a mic. “I am in no mood for pomp and circumstance tonight. I pride myself on being the baddest b**** on the planet, and for two straight events, my efforts have been thwarted. Yes, I’m still undefeated. And I’ve got this belt around my waist. But my win on Sunday was tainted by Ronda Rousey. Ronda, get your a** out here and explain yourself.”
Rousey comes out to the ring and grabs a mic with a smirk. “There’s not a whole lot to explain, Jade. Paige VanZant cost me my shot at the UWA Women’s Championship, so I cost her the chance at the AEW Women’s Championship. If I’m being honest, I also saw dollar signs. I’m here for the money, Jade — and the person who pins you first is in line for a big payday. I’m going to be that person.”
Paige VanZant comes out next and immediately attacks Rousey. They brawl on the stage until security separates them and moves them to the back.
Cargill - “Quite frankly, I don’t care who I face. I just want to be able to slam them to the mat and assert my dominance. So once the two of you figure it out, or if Tony gets a clue, let me know.”

Match 1 - Brian Cage (6-3) w/ Cesar Duran vs. Xavier Woods (2-0)
Woods can’t hang with Cage, as the larger man puts the tag team star away with the Drill Claw at 6:48. After the match, Duran motions that Cage should inflict more pain, but the pair back off when Big E and Kofi respond.
—
Gable Steveson is backstage with Coach. He calls Hager a coward and says that Tony should grant him another rematch. Hager walks up and tells Steveson that he agreed to the terms of the match, and he should be happy that he got his 15 minutes of fame. Gable Steveson’s brief time as an AEW fixture is over.
As Hager walks off, he bumps into Samoa Joe, who smirks and says the All-Atlantic Championship looks pretty good. But it would look a lot better if Joe was carrying it. Hager slinks off as Joe and Steveson look after him.
—
Rob Van Dam and Sabu are chatting backstage with Dean Malenko. (well, RVD is. Sabu is pacing around.)
RVD - “Dean-o! When are you going to leave that dweeb behind and turn back into the Iceman? You need to reignite your fire, man.”
Before Malenko can respond, Peter Avalon walks up and tells RVD to mind his own business. Avalon is the reason why Malenko didn’t retire earlier this year, and they’re going to win the tag team titles soon.”
RVD laughs and tells Avalon to prove it tonight. If Malenko and Avalon can beat RVD and Sabu, he’ll back off.

A number 1 contender match for the AEW Women’s Championship is announced for next week between Paige VanZant and Ronda Rousey.
—
Match 2 - Hurricane (1-3) vs. Shawn Spears (8-4) w/ JBL
Spears pins the Hurricane after a C4 at 4:29.

When we come back from break, the entrance tunnel has a Super Bowl-style blow-up coming out of it, with a star and “MVP” on the side. “I’m Comin’” plays and out walks AEW’s newest star, Montel Vontavius Porter. He saunters to the ring and grabs a mic.
“My name is Montel Vontavius Porter, and I am the new MVP of AEW. I’m here to show that if you work hard and you’re blessed with a little bit of God-given talent, you can accomplish anything in this world. And, man, if I don’t feel like a million bucks with this welcome.” He gets cut off by Sammy Guevara’s music, and he walks out with Tay Melo.
Guevara - “You know, when I heard we had a new up-and-comer coming to AEW, I was intrigued. I love mixing it up with all sorts of guys in the ring. And then I saw the hoopla that Tony was making of you; and this nice entrance, complete with fireworks. And I got a little bit pissed off. Here I am, a homegrown AEW talent, sitting at 11 wins and 4 losses. And my lady here is 8-and-1. And what do we get? Absolutely nothing! Hell, we weren’t even booked for Full Gear. And she should absolutely be in contention for the Women’s Championship. So I’m here to tell you that I’m coming after you. The Spanish god will make an example out of you and show all of these fans and the boys in the back that they’ve overlooked Sammy Guevara for the last time.”
MVP takes off his track jacket and waves Guevara to the ring, but Melo whispers to Guevera and the couple walk to the back, flipping off MVP and the crowd.
—
Match 3 - RVD & Sabu (1-0) vs. Dean Malenko & Peter Avalon (2-2)
RVD pins Avalon with the Hollywood Star Press at 7:10. After the match, RVD extends his hand to Malenko, who shrugs and goes to check on Avalon. Avalon low blows Malenko and quickly runs away from RVD and Sabu.

Raven comes to the ring next, sporting a black eye and a bit of a limp. He grabs the mic.
“I am often the one who is pulling strings, manipulating others into doing my will. However, I’m at a loss as to what Hook was thinking on Sunday when he laid out both Malakai Black and I. Quite frankly, I want some answers. Hook, get out here and give me some answers.”
Hook doesn’t appear, and Taz gets in the ring instead.
Taz - “Raven, my man. Hook isn’t here tonight. Hell, I still haven’t seen him outside of when he attacked you and Black. But he’s been scheduled for a match next week. If he doesn’t show up, Tony is going to suspend him without pay. You hold a lot of blame for what he’s doing, Raven. You and Black, both. You’ve gotten in his head and he’s lost his way.”
Raven turns on Taz and gets in his face. “You think you don’t share in the blame? You think having a domineering father who is a legend in this business isn’t playing a part in all of this?” Taz slaps Raven, and Raven thinks about attacking back, but decides not to. He leaves the ring, with Taz looking onward.

Match 4 - Velvet Sky (1-1) w/ The Beautiful People vs. Serena Deeb (6-4)
Sky almost gets the pin on Deeb after Madison Rayne tripped Deeb up, but she reversed a roll-up attempt to get the pinfall at 6:12. After the match, Love and Rayne join Sky in a beatdown of Deeb, which brings out Alexa Bliss. It’s 3-on-2 in the ring when the lights go out.
They come back on and Bliss is alone in the ring. The other four are gathered on the outside, but Bliss isn’t alone in the ring. There’s another woman there, face in white with cracks running around her face, with a dripping red mouth and yellow eyes. Coach on commentary - “Who the hell is that!? Is…is that Lily, come to life?”
The Beautiful People book it to the back, while Deeb seems conflicted about what to do.
Bliss tells the newcomer that she didn’t mean to offend her. She tries to back away, but the other woman grabs Bliss by the hair, pulls her close and headbutts her to the mat. Deeb slides in to help, but catches a boot to the gut and hits a snap DDT. The newcomer crawls over to Bliss and the lights go out. When they return 30 seconds later, Deeb is alone in the ring and Bliss and the newcomer are nowhere to be found.

The AEW World Champion Cody Rhodes walks out to the ring to cheers and grabs a mic. He thanks the fans for being behind him, and puts Brian Cage over as a tough opponent. He says he was confident that he would defend the title at Full Gear, but it was closer than he’d like to admit. Rhodes gets interrupted by Jeff Jarrett’s music, and he walks out with the rest of The Apex, who look a little worse-for-the-wear.
Jarrett - “Sunday was an awful, awful day for AEW and the Apex as a whole. But don’t you think I’ve forgotten about you, Cody Rhodes. Things didn’t end quite how we’d hoped they might on Sunday, but the Chosen Bros had help. Hell, it was 7 on 5! I know I wasn’t the only one who saw Hurricane come out from under the ring, or Cactus Jack run out from the back when it should have been Dude Love…” Matt Riddle and Jeff Cobb appear on the screen, beside Mick Foley.
Riddle - “The joke’s on you, Mr. Double J, sir! Cactus Jack and Dude Love are the same person. It’s starting to feel like our business might not be quite finished, Jeffrey.”
Jarrett - “I’m not getting back in the ring with you, Matthew. I’ve been around a helluva lot longer than you have. I’ve been wise to Mick Foley’s tricks for years. He and I can settle our differences later. You’ve got your hands full with Beer Money. For now, I’m done with you, and I’m going back after my championship. I’ve never even been pinned for it.”

Main Event - 4-way tag for a shot at Tag Team Titles at Winter is Coming
Chosen Bros vs. Beer Money vs. Natural Selection vs. Jurassic Express
One representative from each team is legal at all times. Normal tag rules apply otherwise.
Beer Money steers clear of the Bros at first and goes for Jurassic Express, while Natural Selection squares off with the Bros.
The match eventually devolves into chaos. In the end, Cobb hits the Tour of the Islands on Alexander, but the fall is broken up by Roode. The Bros and Beer Money brawl to the outside while Luchasaurus goes for the pin! Benjamin breaks up the fall and starts to unmask Luchasaurus, who freaks out and tags Jungle Boy in before rolling to the outside. The ref is distracted by Beer Money and Chosen Bros brawling on the outside and misses Benjamin kicking Jungle Boy square between the legs and faking a tag to Alexander. Benjamin hits the T-Bone Suplex and goes for the pin as Alexander gets the ref's attention. Natural Selection earns the title shot with the pinfall at 16:10.
