The Undertaker and Paul Bearer came to the ring where Mean Gene Okerlund was waiting to ask them the question that has been on everybody’s minds for the past week: “Why did you come to the ring to save Sting from Rowdy Roddy Piper and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin?” As Paul Bearer began to answer the question, the sound of bagpipes filled the arena and out came Rowdy Roddy Piper himself. He was fixing for a fight. He didn’t have much to say apart from that he was there to kick ass and chew bubble gum, but he was all out of bubble gum. Piper and The Undertaker threw down. Shattering glass hit the speakers, and out came “Stone Cold” Steve Austin He rushed to the ring and joined Piper in the beat down. Then, the Smackdown World Champion Sting descended from the rafters and cleared the ring with a few swings of his baseball bat. Austin and Piper wanted to keep up the fight and it was settled that tonight’s main event would be Austin & Piper vs. Sting & The Undertaker!
The Miz defeated Kenny Omega by pinfall at 8:17 after he gave him a Skull-Crushing Finale. The Miz took advantage of a run-in attack on Omega by Roman Reigns, who snuck into the ring and gave Omega a spear while John Morrison had the referee distracted. After The Miz got the win, Reigns re-entered the ring to resume his assault on Omega, which culminated with Reigns giving Omega a powerbomb through the announce table.
Mean Gene Okerlund spoke to Bayley about her attack on Lita last week. Bayley called Lita the world’s worst role model. If she had a time machine, she would go back in time and tell 10-year-old Bayley to pick literally any other wrestler in WWE to be her role model because Lita is the worst human being she has ever met. The interview ended there when Lita attacked Bayley. They brawled through the backstage area. Lita threw Bayley into a catering table before officials were able to restrain her.
WWE Smackdown Tag Team Champions, The Hart Foundation, defeated Savio Vega and Jesus Castillo of Los Boricuas by pinfall at 9:00 after Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart executed the Hart Attack on Castillo and Neidhart covered him for the 3-count.
Mean Gene Okerlund spoke to Paul Heyman, the advocate general for his Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns. Heyman revealed that Kenny Omega was viciously attacked earlier tonight in retribution for eliminating his Tribal Chief from the Elimination Chamber. His Tribal Chief was not happy about this and felt that certain measures needed to be taken to rectify the situation. Heyman was interrupted by Nick and Matt Jackson of the Young Bucks, who challenged Roman Reigns and Umaga to a tag team match later tonight. Heyman told them to be careful what they wished because wishing to face his Tribal Chief and the Samoan Bulldozer was akin to making a death wish.
“The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase defeated Randy Orton by submission at 13:50 when he made him pass out in the Million Dollar Dream. DiBiase went for a fist drop from the second rope, but Orton rolled out of the way and hit the RKO. He made the pin, but IRS had the referee distracted, allowing JBL to enter the ring and give Orton a Clothesline From Wall Street. JBL woke DiBiase, who then applied the Million Dollar Dream to Orton. With the win, DiBiase became the first superstar to qualify for Mania Mayhem (a RAW vs. SMACKDOWN 8-Man Tag Team Match).
Mean Gene Okerlund spoke to the Lucha Bros. who said they wanted one more crack at the Hart Foundation and their Smackdown Tag Team Championships, and they want it to be at WrestleMania II. The Dudley Boys showed up and told them that they too wanted to challenge the Hart Foundation for the titles on the biggest stage of them all, and suggested they have a match next week to decide who deserves the title shot. The Lucha Bros. accepted the challenge.
The Young Bucks defeated Roman Reigns and Umaga by pinfall at 12:07 when Nick Jackson pinned Umaga. Nick and Matt were the underdogs. Reigns and Umaga dominated for much of the match. However, when Matt pulled Nick out of the way of a stampeding Tribal Chief, the referee received a spear. This allowed Kenny Omega to hit the ring and help Nick and Matt turn the tide. After Reigns was knocked out of the ring with a Superkick Party, Omega dove over the top rope with Rise of the Terminator to incapacitate him. Then, Omega joined the Bucks in executing a triple V-Trigger on Umaga to knock him out cold. The referee was revived and counted the fall in short order.
A video package highlighting last week’s surprise arrival of Brock Lesnar in Madison Square Garden aired. The replay showed the moment he challenge WALTER for the Smackdown United States Championship, and WALTER accepting. The video package ended with a pre-recorded video statement from Lesnar, live via his ranch in Saskatchewan, where he said that he was coming to make his in-ring debut on Smackdown next week.
Becky Lynch successfully defended the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship versus Paige when she defeated her by pinfall at 10:43. Lynch escaped a Paige-Turner attempt moments before executing the Manhandle Slam to get the win. Following the match, Shayna Baszler came to the ring. She didn’t attack Lynch. Instead, she told her that she could attack her and permanently disfigure her before their match for the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania, but she’d rather do that in front of 80 000 people. Lynch said Baszler didn’t have the balls to try it, which led to Baszler coming at Lynch. They brawled in and out of the ring until officials came to break it up. Baszler broke free from security personnel and got the last hit in, giving Lynch an overhead belly-to-belly on the floor.
Mean Gene Okerlund spoke to Johnny Garganoabout getting his win over IRS last week. Gargano said it was hard work and determination got him to WWE, and it was hard work and determination that would get him to the top of WWE. John Bradshaw Layfield showed up and told Gargano his win was fluke. He knows it, Gene knows it, heck the entire WWE Universe knows it. Next week, he’ll prove it when he sends Gargano straight to hell with a Clothesline From Wall Street, and join his Billion Dollar Corporation associate “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase in Mania Mayhem.
Rowdy Roddy Piper and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin defeated Sting and The Undertaker by pinfall at 16:19 when Piper pinned The Undertaker to get the 3-count. Decorum broke down in the closing minutes of this match with everyone brawling all over the ring and the ringside area. The Texas Rattlesnake executed a piledriver on The Deadman, who kicked out with authority, and then sat up immediately. Austin couldn’t believe it. He and The Undertaker threw fists. Meanwhile, Piper slid into the ring , bringing the ring bell with him. Sting caught him with a dropkick and picked up the bell. He lined up Piper for a shot from the bell and charged at him, but Piper moved, causing Sting to hit The Undertaker in the back of the head with the bell! Sting stopped for a moment, with a look of shock on his face, which allowed Austin to give him the Stone Cold Stunner at the same time that Piper turned The Undertaker over to pin him for the 3-count. After getting the win, Austin left the ring to grab a steel chair and came back. He started hitting both of his opponents while they were down, which brought John Cena to the rescue. Piper abandoned ship, content with getting the win. Cena and Austin brawled until Cena put Austin through the announce table with an Attitude Adjustment.
