Tonight’s show began with Kamille York of CCW’s York Foundation coming to the ring to tell the fans here in the professional wrestling Mecca of the world, Madison Square Garden, that its prophet, the UWA Universal Men’s Champion Nick Aldis, who was scheduled to be here tonight, will not be making an appearance here tonight. She said that she came with a message from her client: Blame Daniel Bryan. This brought out Daniel Bryan, who received a warm reception from the WWE Universe. He said that it was an honour and privilege to compete in the main event of WrestleMania II for the biggest prize in wrestling, the UWA Universal Men’s Championship, and said that he would take great pride in representing the UWA as the best wrestler in the universe, which is apparently something that Nick Aldis can’t be bothered to do. Kamile defended Aldis, saying he was the best wrestler of all-time, and Bryan said that he planned on taking his title just four weeks from now. Then, Nick Aldis snuck into the ring, unannounced, and when Bryan turned to leave, Aldis hit him in the face with his championship belt. He put the belt on the ground and gave Bryan the Treasure Chest onto the face of the championship! Aldis and Kamille left without Aldis saying a single word.
Lucha Bros. defeated Beer Money Inc. by pinfall at 10:41 when Penta El 0M pinned “Cowboy” James Storm after he and his brother executed the package piledriver diving double-foot stomp combo on him.
Mean Gene spoke to Rowdy Roddy Piper and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin about teaming together for the first time ever tonight to take on the WWE Smackdown World Champion Sting and John Cena in tonight’s main event – Live at the Garden! Piper said he couldn’t have a better partner in the world in Austin as he is the only man in the company he respects because like him, he fears no one, and he understands that you cannot draw any lands in the sand when it comes to going after what you want, whether that is a championship or simple sweet revenge. Austin said he doesn’t trust anybody, not even Piper. He don’t ask for no tag team partners, but if he needs one in order for him to get his hands on John Cena, then he may as well as have a Hot Rode hellbent on sweet revenge. And that’s exactly what he’s hellbent on. Cena has wrong him too many times over the last several months and it’s time to end it, right here, right now. Tonight, Stone Cold is fixin’ to open a can of whoop ass on Cena and there ain’t a thing anybody can do about it. Tonight, Cena’s finally getting what he deserves and that’s the bottom line ‘cuz Stone Cold said so!
Lita defeated Billie Kay of the IIconics by pinfall at 3:56 after executing a Litasault following a Russian leg sweep. Peyton Royce tried to attack Lita after the match, but Lita took care of her with a Lita DDT. Lita celebrated her win by climbing the turnbuckle to acknowledge the fans. That’s when Bayley showed up and hit her in the back with a steel chair. She pulled on the back of Lita’s jeans to throw her off the turnbuckle to the mat, then gave her an arm-trap headlock driver onto the steel chair.
Mean Gene caught up with UWA Universal Men’s Champion Nick Aldis and Kamille backstage, catching them before getting into a Lincoln Town Car to leave. Aldis told Mean Gene that he was ready to come here and speak to his legions of fans in the Mecca of Pro Wrestling, Madison Square Garden, but changed his plans when Daniel Bryan defamed him a week ago by saying that his 1-Million-Year Galactic Reign was but a Mediocre 100-Day Reign. The WWE Universe showed its true colours and disrespected him when it cheered for this pariah’s deplorable statement. Therefore, Aldis will show the WWE the same respect it showed him by refusing to appear in front of a WWE audience again until he steps foot inside the ring, in the main event on the Grandest Stage of Them All, at Showcase of the Immortals, and proves just how very mortal Daniel Bryan is by making him but an early, forgettable footnote in the long, storied, 1-Million-Year Galactic Reign of the UWA Universal Men’s Champion Nick Aldis!
Dudley Boyz defeated The Miz and John Morrison by pinfall at 8:25 when D-Von Dudley pinned John Morrison after he and his brother Bubba Ray executed the 3-D on him.
WWE United States Champion WALTER came to the ring. He said that, on Sunday, Randy Orton was just the latest superstar to try and fail to take this championship from him. He is the longest running champion in WWE. His reign has lasted for over a year, and in that year, he has defeated a who’s who list of sports entertainers. Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan, Rey Misterio Jr, Rowdy Roddy Piper, John Cena, and The Undertaker are just some of the names that entered the sacred confines of the wrestling and get beaten by the Ring General. This has left him wondering all week whether there was even anyone in this company left for him to beat. WrestleMania II is the Superbowl of Sports Entertainment, so WWE’s most decorated and longest reigning champion deserves to have a place on the marquee, but there is no one left in WWE who deserves to have his name on it with him. Is there anyone left that the Ring General has not beaten? If so, he invites them to come forward and make a case to challenge him for his championship. The hum of an expectant audience filled the arena as WALTER stood in the ring alone, in wait, for a challenger. He began to lift the microphone back to his mouth to speak when the sound of a short guitar lick reverberated through the Garden. DUN! DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN! DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN! Brock Lesnar came to the ring. He got in the ring and stood face-to-face with WALTER. He snatched the mic from WALTER’s hand without asking and said that the Ring General ain’t never tamed a Beast before, so why don’t we make Wrestlemania II a night to remember? He handed the mic back to WALTER, who said that WrestleMania II will forever be known as the event where the Ring General slayed the Beast.
Shayna Baszler defeated Ember Moon by submission at 9:19 when she forced her to tap out to a rear naked choke following the execution of the Karifuda Driver.
Mean Gene spoke with WWE Smackdown World Champion Sting and John Cena about teaming together tonight for the first time in a traditional tag team match to face Rowdy Roddy Piper and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Sting felt he and Cena are a natural fit as partners. Cena said that the two of them worked well together as teammates at Survivor Series, and even though they have been opponents, there is a mutual respect they have for one another that will make them a stronger tandem than the one they will see in the ring. Sting said that he defeated Piper at Elimination Chamber, but Hot Rod appears to be out for revenge. Piper can try as he might, but he won’t get it. Cena said that the simmering bad blood between he and Stone Cold has finally spilled over and he can’t wait to step into the ring with the Texas Rattlesnake and show him why he’s known as Big Match John because whenever the stakes are high or the headlining bout seems too big to believe, that’s when he finds another gear, and when he finds that gear, there’s nobody in this business better than he is. Well, tonight, this tag team match may very well be the biggest tag team match to ever headline at the legendary Madison Square Garden, so tonight, Austin and Piper will be in for the fight of their lives.
Johnny Gargano defeated Irwin R. Schyster by submission at 7:04 when he forced him to tap out to the Garga-No-Escape. Gargano put his patented submission hold on IRS but had to break it because the referee was distracted by John Bradshaw Layfield. Gargano went to confront JBL, who shoved him. Gargao responded with a kick to the mid-section and a forearm to knock him off the apron. IRS gave Gargano a belly-to-back suplex, then went for the Write Off, but Gargano did a baseball slide to avoid it. He took IRS down with a tornado bulldog and then reapplied the hold for the win.
Daniel Bryan spoke to Mean Gene about what happened to him at the beginning of tonight’s show. Bryan said that Aldis didn’t prove anything to him with his little sneak attack other than that he’s a champion scared of losing his championship. And he should be! Because at WrestleMania II, Nick Aldis is going to get into the ring with Daniel Bryan and see the single the man who will cut his Million Year Galactic Reign short by about 999 874 days. Bryan said he is going to put Aldis in the Yes! Lock and make Aldis give up – give up on the match and on his title reign! That way he’ll have no one to blame for it ending but himself.
WWE Smackdown World Champion Sting and John Cena defeated Rowdy Roddy Piper and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin by disqualification at 13:38 when the referee saw Piper hit Sting in the face with the ring bell. This was a hot main event that saw the action spill outside the ring with all four men brawling early. The referee got the participants back into the ring and things settled down through the middle portion of the match, with Sting in the role of the face-in-peril. Sting made the hot tag to Cena after he countered a Piper vertical suplex, then ducked a wild lariat and gave Piper a belly-to-back suplex. Cena came in fired up and took the fight to Piper, quickly getting him in a spin-out powerbomb and dropping a Five-Knuckle Shuffle on him. Before he could pin, Austin ran in and took him down with a Lou Thesz Press. Sting came back into the ring and hit Austin with jabs and chops until he had him on the ropes. Sting went for a clothesline, Austin sent him over the ropes instead. Cena sent Austin over the ropes with a clothesline. Piper got Cena with a school-boy roll-up and a handful of jorts, but Cena still managed to kick out and send Piper out the ring. Cena followed outside, where everyone brawled. It was at that time that Piper went for the bell and rang it using Sting’s face. Piper kept up the assault and drew blood. Meanwhile, Austin caved in the seat of a steel chair on Cena’s head. Austin was unrelenting with the chair. Finally, the lights went out, a dim-purple spotlight glowed as fog rolled in and sounds of a church organ filled Madison Square Garden. Paul Bearer led The Undertaker to ringside, where he brought the lights back up and fought off both Austin and Piper. He kicked the chair back into Austin’s face and gave him a chokeslam on the floor. He gave Piper some meat hooks to the torso and throat thrusts until he was backed up to the play-by-play table, where he gave him a big boot. The Undertaker climbed onto the table, scooped up Piper and gave him a Tombstone piledriver, collapsing the table under them. The Undertaker rose to his knees, turned to face Paul Bearer and raised a hand in the direction of the urn while rolling his eyes into the back of his head as the show ended.
