PRO WRESTLING X
"PWX 9: LESNAR VS. PAGE"
From the Wells Fargo Center
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
11/25/2021
Welcome to "PWX 9: Lesnar vs. Page", live and airing on the Paramount Network!
We head ringside, where play-by-play announcer Jimmy Smith is standing with color commentator Josh Barnett. Jimmy wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, as he and Josh make note of the raucous crowd here in Philly. They talk a bit about the upcoming card before sending things over to Dasha Gonzalez, who is standing by the stage.
She sends things over to a pretaped vignette for the main event of the evening between Premier champion Brock Lesnar and challenger Diamond Dallas Page. The saga involving Goldberg being ousted and DDP replacing him is touched on. Lesnar says it never mattered who he was going to face because the result was always going to be the same: total domination. DDP says that he keeps getting knocked down but he continues to beat the odds. He says that Lesnar thinks he is Mr. Big and Bad, calling himself "The Beast", but after tonight, he says there's one thing he ain't going to be called... and that's champ, cause DDP is going to make him FEEL... THE... BANG!!!
And with that, we go back to Dasha by the stage. The crowd is chanting for DDP as she sends it back over to ringside. Barnett breaks down Lesnar and Page from a technical standpoint, with the power and technique of Lesnar versus the home run hitting ability of DDP. Jimmy Smith then sets up a graphic introducing the referees for the evening, headed by senior official Earl Hebner. We then head to the ring, where Tony Chimel is standing with a microphone.
These fans here in Philly are ready for action, we hope all of you fans at home watching on cable for the first time are ready as well!
MATCH ONE
TRADITIONAL RULES
1 Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
Brian Pillman (0-0) vs. Darby Allin (1-1)
Referee: Charles Robinson
Both guys get a very positive response to start from this smart crowd, but Pillman made sure to do enough to turn them early. Pillman was nasty to Darby, showing him no respect, spitting on him and pushing the rules as far as he could with hair pulling and choking. Darby would make a comeback with armdrags and dropkick to send Pillman to the apron. Pillman would hang onto the apron using the middle rope and Allin would dive through the ropes and execute a Sunset Flip Bomb right into the guardrail!
"HOLY SHIT!" chants break out here in the Wells Fargo Center as Charles Robinson is left wide eyed in the ring. Jimmy and Josh put over both how amazing Darby Allin is while how much that had to hurt Pillman!
Darby isn't done yet. Darby heads to the top rope facing away from Pillman. Pillman stumbles up to his feet holding the back of his head and gets SMASHED with Coffin Drop Plancha! This time Darby hits the back of his head and right shoulder pretty bad on the railing, and the fans are jumping and chanting for Darby now!
Charles Robinson is being very generous with the 10 count here, as both men are trying to get to their feet. Darby grabs a handful of Pillman's hair and rolls him back into the ring. Pillman lays prone on the mat. Darby heads up top and seems to be thinking Coffin Drop, but Pillman rushes back up and falls into the ropes, crotching Allin on top! Pillman stumbles over and climbs the buckles behind Darby. Pillman grabs Darby and attempts a Super Belly-to-Back Suplex, but Darby shifts in mid-air, landing on top of Pillman and he hooks one leg with his arm and the other with his legs, pulling him into a tight package!
ONE, TWO, THREE, IT'S ALL OVER! DARBY WINS IT!
Winner by Pinfall: Darby Allin (00:07:25)
After thevmatch Pillman goes berserk! He looks like hebmight attack Darby or Robinson, but decides against it, kicking the ropes! He then rushes from the ring and tosses the papers off of the announcer's table, yelling that this is a travesty! Josh Barnett stands up and takes off his headset. The fans get very electric for this as officials make their way out to calm Pillman down as he is cursing everyone as he is being redirected to the back.
Darby is crouching in the ring watching all of this as chants for him pick back up once Pillman exits the scene.
We go to a pre-taped segment by one of the headliners of "PWX 10", CM Punk!
Punk is standing backstage wearing a black hoodie with a smile on his face.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the ink has dried and it is official: CM Punk will be taking on Cody Rhodes to determine who the first X Division champion will be. And boy, if you listen to Cody Rhodes, the ending of that match is a foregone conclusion. He's going to win it! He has revolutionized wrestling! He's shown us all how it is done! He has shown everyone what the X Division could be and nobody can hold a candle to 'The American Nightmare'!"
Punk kind of chuckles to himself with his hands on his hips before staring back into the camera.
"Cody Rhodes... little Cody Rhodes.
"You know, you've done an admirable job, all things considered. You bought some suits, bleached the hair, started breaking the rules and you've carved out a niche for yourself. You're not just some sidekick or novelty act; you're just the son of a son of a plumber anymore. No, you're 'The American Nightmare', and you've sure done a lot of damage in your short time here in PWX.
"But Cody, that's where my admiration for your little 'reinvention' comes to an end. You've become so obsessed with getting out of your father's shadow that you are willing to hurt people severely... put guys out of action... potentially end careers. And all the while it's all just some big show for you. You want us all to buy into this persona. You want people to be afraid of you and forget you're Dusty's kid, but here's the thing, Cody: I know who you are. I know what you are, and you're a coward. You're ego has lead you down a path where you're actively tryin to hurt the boys and stop them from putting food on their table for their families.
"At 'PWX 10', December 24th, Tampa, Florida... you're not going home to your wife for Christmas. I'm putting you out of action, and I'm taking that belt, because I'm a real killer in that ring, and you know it. I'm everything you wish you were. I didn't grow up in this business; I don't have your pedigree or background or connections, I had to fight for everything... EVERYTHING I have, and it makes me stronger than you, more determined than you... and more dangerous than you.
'And I know, Cody, I know it was so hard for you growing up without a Dad there because he was on the road. But if you'd have stayed a night at my house, stepped in my shoes for a night, you'd have been begging to catch a ride back to Marietta! And 'PWX 10', I'm going to beat you like your father should've... no, no, scratch that, I'm going to beat you like my father beat me, and I'm going to teach you what being afraid is all about."
We pause for a few seconds and then get a graphic for "PWX 10: PUNK VS. RHODES", Live from the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, on December 24th, only on the Paramount Network!
MATCH TWO
TAG TEAM RULES
1 Fall, 10 Minute Time Limit
The Hardy Boyz: Matt Hardy/Jeff Hardy (2-1) vs. The Authors of Pain: Akam/Rezar (1-1)
Referee: Tim White
This match moved very quickly, as this was just pure chaos that had Tim White's head spinning. The AOP were trying to throw the Hardys around and impose their dominance, but the momentum of the Hardys and their nonstop attack had them reeling. The fans here in Philly were behind the Hardy Boyz as Jeff would take out Akam on the outside with rail walk into a clothesline as Matt Hardy would reverse a Powerbomb attempt from Rezar with a DDT! Jeff would get onto the apron and tag in to Matt, heading up top afterwards and delivering the Swanton Bomb as Matt would sling himself over the top and deliver a Pescado to Akam on the floor, leading to a three count!
Winners by Pinfall: The Hardy Boyz (00:06:11)
The fans are buzzing after that wild showing from both teams, and the Hardy Boyz are absolutely on fire! After the match, Matt Hardy takes the microphone and says he doesn't care which team wins the titles tonight, whether they have to fight the Briscoes again or whether they have to beat the Undisputed Era, they want a shot at the belts! The fans seem to be in favor of that prospect.
MATCH THREE
TRADITIONAL RULES
1 Fall, 15 Minute Time Limit
Damian Priest (4-0) vs. Matt Riddle (3-0)
Referee: Teddy Long
This was a very anticipated match between two undefeated talents. The heat between Priest and Riddle was turned up a notch after Priest cut a promo on "Rush" about Riddle and accepted his challenge, but Riddle seemed very calm coming into this. Riddle seemed to be looking to be respectful to Priest early on, but Priest wasn't having it and he would shove Riddle and tell him to bring it on! This would lead to these two having a very intense, physical back and forth, really laying in the kicks and blows to one another. Riddle would make a tactical error, missing the Floating Bro after Priest moved out of the way, leading to Priest delivering a Corkscrew Roundhouse Kick. Priest delivers the Broken Arrow afterwards, hooking the leg and he gets the win!
Winner by Pinfall: Damian Priest (00:12:55)
Priest gets on the microphone after the match and says he is done messing around with all of this bullshit. He wants respect put on his name, plain and simple. He says he has five straight wins, and he wants a title match. He says he knows nobody wants to see him in that ring, but nobody can deny him now. He is getting a loud yet mixed reaction from these fans here in Philly, while Josh Barnett has to agree with his general logic on commentary.
Before the next match, MJF makes his way out to the ring to a chorus of boos and lude chants!
MJF would take the microphone and start laying it on the fans.
"Shut your stupid, drunk mouths, cause I've got the microphone and you don't!"
The fans booing even louder now and they are near a frenzy, but MJF keeps going.
"You people have the gift of getting to watch me, and yet you boo. You ungrateful pigs don't deserve to be in the same room as Maxwell Jacob Friedman, and you certainly don't deserve to be entertained by me, but lucky for you, I've got a score to settle tonight! There's a poor little piss ant just like all of you backstage by the name of Ricochet who needs to get his ass kicked, courtesy of MJF! That's why I've sunk so low as to degrade myself, coming to the most pathetic, embarrassing city in America to perform tonight. Even Ben Simmons is desperately trying to get out of here because you fans make him want to kill himself! And looking at you all, I don't blame him! If I had to live in this hell hole, I'd put a bullet in my head in about two seconds!"
The fans are chanting, "KILL YOURSELF!" at MJF and the commentary team is trying to play it off as best they can, but this is intense. MJF is just smiling as plastic cups are being tossed into the ring at him.
"Hey, hey, don't hate me, hate God! He's the one who made you Philadelphians! But don't worry, because tonight, you get a gift from that same God! You get to watch me! And you get to see me beat Ricochet in a Falls Count Anywhere match!"
This actually turns the hostile crowd a bit and gets a pop.
"That's right, Ricochet, there's nowhere to run and nowhere to hide! It doesn't matter if it's in a ring, outside of the ring, or on the streets! I'm BETTER THAN YOU... AND YOU KNOW IT!"
With that, MJF throws off his scarf and Ricochet's music hits over the speakers. It's time for round three!
MATCH FOUR
X DIVISION RULES
1 Fall, 20 Minute Time Limit, No Holds Barred, Falls Count Anywhere
MJF (2-1) vs. Ricochet (1-1)
Referee: Mike Chioda
Ricochet starts off hot right at the bell and the place is behind him. He is rocking MJF with rights and lefts to the body and then blasts him with a Spinning Back Kick to the chest to send him flying into the buckles. Ricochet runs across the ring and then back, delivering a Leaping Clothesline into the corner and MJF is staggered! Ricochet heads to the apron and then springboards in with a Flying Clothesline! MJF rolls to the outside, and the fans are booing him loudly before getting amped up as Ricochet prepares to dive. MJF turns and Ricochet is coming over to the top... MJF side steps it, but RICOCHET FLIPS AND LANDS ON HIS FEET! MJF kicks him in the mid-section and drops him with a Single Arm DDT on the floor!
MJF buys himself some time, and Mike Chioda is now outside of the ring. Jimmy Smith notes that this is the first match of its kind in PWX, and that we are not used to seeing referees outside of the ring here. Josh Barnett says now that things are on the outside and given the rules, he is not sure this will go too much longer.
MJF grabs Ricochet by the arm and blasts it against the guard rail, before cranking on it for a few seconds. Ricochet fights out by stomping MJF's foot a few times before catching him with a back elbow. Ricochet then jumps up on the railing and then flies back and delivers an Enzuigiri style kick, but he hurts his arm on the landing. Both men are down again. MJF crawls to the ring apron. Ricochet makes his way back to his feet. Ricochet walks over to grab MJF but MJF turns and he has grabbed a chair from under the ring, hitting Ricochet is the ribs with it! MJF proceeds to hit Ricochet in the back with the chair and goes for the cover, but Ricochet manages to kick out at two. MJF chokes Ricochet with the top back of the chair and then whacks him a few more times before going for another cover, but still just a two count!
MJF attempts to lock on the Salt of the Earth, but Ricochet manages to roll out of it. Ricochet is up and tackles MJF and begins unloading on him with rapid fire right hands! Ricochet picks up MJF off the floor, grabbing him by the head and throwing him into the ring steps with authority! Ricochet holds his injured arm for a moment, but waves on the fans to cheer him on and they respond in a big way! Ricochet runs and leaps up on the apron before jumping and delivering an ASAI MOONSAULT ONTO MJF, WIPING HIM OUT ON THE RAMP! Ricochet goes for the cover, but just a two!
Ricochet lays into MJF with more right hands before trying to pick him up. Ricochet tries lift MJF up on his shoulders, maybe thinking Recoil, but his left arm is damaged and he can't hook him properly, allowing MJF to slide off and then kick him between the legs from behind! MJF then grabs Ricochet by the head and shoulder and flings him into the guard rail UPSIDE DOWN, SENDING HIM CRASHING ON TOP OF HIS HEAD ON THE FLOOR!
MJF gives the fans the double bird as they relentlessly boo him.
Ricochet rolls on the floor towards the ring in obvious agony.
MJF then walks over and tosses up the ring apron and pulls out a table! Jimmy Smith wonders aloud what kind of sick plan MJF might have in mind. MJF sets up the table, but Ricochet has grabbed the chair on the floor behind MJF's back. MJF turns and Ricochet blasts MJF over the head with it! MJF drops to his knees after impact and is on all fours. Ricochet is waving his arm and getting the fans behind him, and they are chanting, "RICOCHET! RICOCHET!" MJF pulls himself up on the table, and he might not know where he is right now. MJF turns again and Ricochet throws the chair full force, smacking it against MJF's face! MJF turns and he is laying across the table, and he might be knocked out now! Ricochet kind of stumbles over, rubbing his left arm, and then grabs MJF by the legs and lays him on the table. Ricochet lays in a few more right hands and then turns his back.
Ricochet works the crowd and then hops back on the apron. Ricochet looks behind himself on more time and then pulls the top rope... he springboards... HE SOARS THROUGH THE AIR, TWISTIN AND THEN HE FLIPS... MJF ROLLS OFF OF THE TABLE AND RICOCHET SMASHES THROUGH IT FULL FORCE, CREATING AN EXPLOSION OF WOOD PARTICLES! The fans chant "HOLY SHIT!" for a few seconds before it turns to loud booing, as MJF folds a piece of the broken table on top of Ricochet and presses it down, pinning MJF to floor as Mike Chioda makes the ONE, TWO, THREE!
MJF rolls off, half heartedly celebrating, as he looks like he just stepped out of a car crash.
Winner by Pinfall: MJF (00:15:44)
The medical team comes down and checks both men. MJF is being checked for a concussion, while they appear to be calling down a stretcher for Ricochet. We cut back to Jimmy and Josh, as they react to that grueling and violent display we just saw. Josh says that even though these fans hate MJF, he had to work for every bit of that win tonight.

PWX TAG TEAM TITLES
TAG TEAM RULES
1 Fall, 20 Minute Time Limit
Briscoe Brothers: Jay Briscoe/Mark Briscoe (2-0) vs. The Undisputed Era: Kyle O'Reilly/Bobby Fish (2-0)
Referee: Earl Hebner
This match was to crown the first ever PWX Tag Team Champions, and the fans seemed to be pretty clearly behind the charismatic Briscoe Brothers. This was a fun and very competent tag team, as these two teams would make frequent tags and go for frequent finishes. The Briscoes would use their one save when Jay would save Mark after a O'Reilly locked him into a tight Triangle Choke. Fish would save O'Reilly from a pinfall after Jay and Mark hit a Double Stomp/Death Valley Driver combo on Kyle. The Briscoes would try to end the match a couple of minutes later, attempting to set Fish up for the Doomsday Device, but Fish slides off of Jay's shoulders and shoves him forward into corner, crotching Mark on top! Fish runs and delivers a High Kick to Jay in the corner and then throws him to the outside. O'Reilly is back in and runs up the buckles, hooking Mark into a Front Chancery. Fish goes to the apron and runs, leaping up and kicking Mark seemingly in the face or forehead before O'REILLY PULLS HIM DOWN INTO A BRAINBUSTER; A SUPER VERSION OF CHASING THE DRAGON! The fans can't believe it! O'Reilly gets the three count, and we've got our first champions!
Winners by Pinfall, and NEW PWX Tag Team Champions: The Undisputed Era (00:10:12)
We go to a pre-taped segment, as we see Cody Rhodes sitting in his office at home.
"So all has been revealed now. 'PWX 10', Tampa, Florida... Cody Rhodes and CM Punk for the X Division Championship.
"And honestly, it couldn't have played out better for me."
Cody looks down, apparently choosing his words carefully before he continues.
"CM Punk is the kind of guy I really look forward to hurting when I step into that ring. He's loud, he's arrogant, he's self important... and he thinks he is the 'Best in the World'. And you know something, Punk, at one point, you were 'The Best in the World'. You won the World Heavyweight championship at none other than StarrCade, a show synonymous with my father. And yet look at you now. You're not facing Samoa Joe. You're not challenging for the World title. You're asking for a match with ME at 'PWX 10' for the, uh... 'prestigious' X Division Title.
"That seems a little low for a guy of your stature, but maybe it's not. Maybe it's not... anymore. Because maybe that's who you are now. Maybe THE GREAT CM Punk is nothing more than a gatekeeper now, and you're best days, or really, your 'Best in the World' are just behind you. And the thing about gatekeepers in sports is, Punk, is that they stand between those who can be great and those who never will be. But they, themselves, are just not that great anymore.
"Punk, that is who you are. That is the reality of this situation. You are standing between me and greatness, and that's a very scary place to be. And I am going to make it a very bad night for you. And I'm going to really enjoy doing it, because while your trajectory is leading you straight down, my stock is only going up. And while you were only heading downward anyway, taking this match with me is only going to speed up the process.
"Winning the title, that's inevitable. That's simple logic and dull math. I beat you 10 times out of 10. So that's not really what this is all about. That's not what any of this has been all about here in PWX. I've been smeared and loathed by every fan, every talking head, every old head in the business because of the way I've conducted my business here, but I'm done playing nice. I'm done kissing the asses and looking for the approval. The day I decided to stop caring what you people think was the best day of my life, and every day has been better since then. I'm done pretending this is anything other than what it is. I'm done with the pretense that this is a sport and we need to be honorable.
"Punk, you're coming into a fist fight where there aren't many rules to save you. We've all seen how you do when that is the case..."
Cody chuckles a little bit, smirking his shit eating grin.
"So everybody, be sure to tune in, because December 24th, 8 PM Eastern Time on the Paramount Network, it may very well be the last time you see CM Punk compete in a wrestling ring. But it definitely won't be the last time you see Cody Rhodes wearing gold."
Rhodes shifts now, staring narrowly into the camera with no grin.
"So for now, you have a good Thanksgiving, Punk... because it won't be a Merry Christmas."
With that, we head back to ringside with Jimmy and Josh as they take in what they just heard from Cody.
MATCH SIX
X DIVISION RULES
1 Fall, 20 Minute Time Limit, No Holds Barred, No Count Outs
"The Cleaner" Kenny Omega (1-0) vs. "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels(3-1)
Referee: Teddy Long
The fans have seen a lot and they seemed a little down for the entrance of Kenny Omega, but nothing pops a crowd quite like the sounds of "Sexy Boy" hitting the sound system! The crowd loves Shawn Michaels, as he looks as good and confident as ever. Omega looks very intense, bouncing in his corner and talking to himself, trying to psyche himself up for one of the biggest matches of his life. Josh Barnett points out that both men have a lot of big weapons in their arsenal, with Kenny able to change the tide at any time with his V Trigger while HBK can turns the lights out at any time with Sweet Chin Music.
They start off with a lock up and start trading holds, with headlock reversals, hammlerlock reversals, waistlock reversals, until Omega grabbed an armwringer and HBK grabbed the top rope and black flipped out of it and landed a right hand across his head! Michaels whips Omega and bends over, allowing Omega to Sunset Flip, but Michaels drops to his knees and grab his legs, cradling him. From there, both men trade pin attempts, before Omega backslides HBK over and then rises up and blasts him with a V TRIGGER! Michaels rolls to the outside, dazed, and Barnett says he thinks the feeling out process is over.
Omega runs at the buckles and jumps over them, springboarding off the middle buckle and hitting a Moonsault onto Michaels! The fans are giving some decent respectful applause for Omega here. Omega yells at them all to shut up before kicking HBK into the guardrail and that pretty much turns them back. Michaels crawls and lays back into the guardrail and Omega lands a few more stomps. Omega then runs across the floor and then back, attempting to V Trigger Michaels into the railing, but Michaels rolls out of the way! Omega crushes his knee into the railing and the fans are back cheering!
Michaels is back up and grabs Omega from behind, hooking his leg and dropping him knee and shin first on the steel steps. Omega is rolling on the floor and he's hurting pretty bad now. HBK works the crowd and then grabs Omega by the leg, and he looks like he is thinking about locking on a Figure Four on the floor! Michaels steps over it, but Omega kicks him in the behind and sends Michaels flying head first into the turnpost and steps!
Omega gets back to his feet and limps up and back into the ring. Michaels gets back to his feet and he is bleeding from his forehead now.
HBK is leaking now and leans against the apron. Omega reaches through the ropes and pulls HBK up and through the ropes. Michaels if halfway into the ring and Omega runs off the ropes and delivers a V Trigger to the side of his head, sending him crashing and burning back into the ring and down to the mat! Barnett says he thinks Michaels is knocked out now, and Omega goes for the cover.
ONE, TWO, THRE- NO! HBK KICKS OUT!
Omega grabs Michaels by the arm and yanks him to his feet, and delivers the Snap Dragon Suplex! Omega goes for the cover again, but Michaels STILL KICKS OUT AT TWO! Omega seems very frustrated here, pulling at his hair and grimacing. Omega grabs Michaels by the hair once more and slaps him across the face before lifting him up onto his shoulders and delivering a Fireman's Carry Roll Through, and then attempting a Springboard Moonsault off the middle turnbuckle, but Michaels gets his knees up!
Omega is hurting on the mat now, holding his ribs. Both men are back up and they are trading chops before Omega ducks a chop from Michaels and tries for another Snap Dragon Suplex, but Michaels blocks it with a hook of the leg and then turns and delivers a DDT! Michaels is up and running and Omega stumbles up, with Michaels delivering a Flying Forearm! He kips up and the fans are going crazy! Michaels does a few stomps, tuning up the band, and he attempts a Sweet Chin Music, but Omega catches it and spins him... BICYCLE KNEE STRIKE! Kind of a modified Rain Trigger there, and Omega goes for the cover!
ONE, TWO, THRE- NO! HBK KICKS OUT AGAIN!
Omega is hurting and panting, but he's not done. He lifts Michaels up and tries to lift him in for the One Winged Angel, but Michaels twists and delivers a Huracanrana to counter! Both men are back up and Omega goes for another Bicycle Knee Strike, but HBK dodges it and grabs him, delivering a Belly-to-Back Suplex! HBK kips up again and points to the top turnbuckle, and the fans are chanting for Michaels once again! Michaels heads up top and you know he is thinking Flying Elbow Drop, but Omega is back up and he rushes over to Michaels palm strikes him on the top! HBK sits back and is stunned on the top turnbuckle. Omega grabs Michaels legs and pulls them over and tries to put Michaels on his shoulders once again.
Omega pulls Michaels out of the corner on his shoulders, but Michaels reverses it again, twisting and pulling Omega down into a Sunset Flip! ONLY A TWO COUNT! Omega is back up and tries for a V Trigger, but Michaels dodges it and pulls "The Cleaner" down with a School Boy and pushes him through... SUPERKICK TO A KNEELING OMEGA!
Michaels has lost a lot of blood and is on all fours on the mat. Omega is on dream street, reaching hopelessly with his hands in the air, trying to stay alive. HBK pulls himself up on the ropes and... he stomps... and he stomps... and now everyone in the Wells Fargo Center is stomping in rhythm! Omega pulls himself up on the ropes, wide eyed and mouth wipe open, and slowly turns. Michaels side steps... SWEET CHIN MUSIC!!!
Michaels drops on top of him sort of limply, but he is fully across his upper body and Teddy Long drops down and makes the count.
ONE, TWO, THREE! IT'S OVER! HBK WINS!
Winner by Pinfall: Shawn Michaels (00:16:34)
After the match, the other members of The Elite come down and pull Omega from the ring and help him to the back. Michaels gets on the buckles and points at Cody, telling him he can't run from him forever and the fans chant, "FUCK YOU, CODY!" very loudly and the commentary team tries to talk over it as they put over how good that match was.
MATCH SEVEN
TRADITIONAL RULES
1 Fall, 20 Minute Time Limit
"The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit (2-0-1) vs. "Your Olympic Hero" Kurt Angle (1-1-1)
Referee: Charles Robinson
We have seen some really wild matches tonight, but this was not that. This was a very intense in ring affair. Kurt Angle attack Benoit's left ankle and continuously tried to submit him. Benoit was favoring that ankle clearly after Kurt Angle's teammate Charlie Haas tried to hurt him in their match on "Rush", and Angle never let up. Benoit was vicious throughout and would go after Kurt's neck, as he had vowed that Angle was "dead" going into this match and he certainly seemed to want to at least paralyze him, hitting a crazy Super German Suplex at one point that saw Angle land in a very scary way. Things really picked up as Tony Chimel announced the match had five minutes left at time limit, as both men desperately tried to seek out a hold to end things. Angle would manage to lock on the Ankle Lock and he had it dead center in the ring. As the clock wound down, Benoit screamed and screamed out, trying to reach and push Angle's legs apart, but he had him scissor locked and there was nowhere to go. The bell began to sound, but Benoit seemed oblivious to this and was tapping out, as he couldn't take it anymore. Charles Robinson would tell Angle to release the hold, but it took him about ten seconds to do so, before demanding Robinson raise his right hand.
Time Limit Draw (00:20:00)
The fans were booing now and chanting "ANGLE SUCKS!" as he threw a tantrum in the ring, demanding that he beat Benoit and protesting that he was tapping! Benoit would just favor his ankle in the corner for the first sixty second before yelling at Angle and telling him to bring it back on! Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin would hit the ring, as did The Eliminators of Perry Saturn and John Kronus, who would try to keep the men calm and from accumulating any fines. Both parties would manage to make it to the back, and the fans would applaud Benoit as they helped him hobble back to the locker room.
Standing in the ring now are PWX President Eric Bischoff and Executive Director Shane McMahon, as we prepare for the main event of the evening!
Shane gets on the microphone and thanks all of the fans here in attendance and everyone watching around the world on the Paramount Network for making this all possible! He then asks the fans to stand, as he introduces Lauren Hart, who will be signing the national anthem of the United States of America, the "Star Spangled Banner".
She enters the ring smiling as she gets mostly polite applause, and then the lights dim and we get a spotlight.
The fans applaud, and then Eric Bischoff introduces his old friend Michael Buffer, who will be doing the introductions for our next two competitors.
Michael gets a very nice pop from this Philly crowd, and then goes into it. Diamond Dallas Page gets over huge as he comes out, and he looks absolutely pumped to be here. He is standing in the corner, his legs moving constantly as he sways back and forth... and then Lesnar's theme hit, and the reaction is just MASSIVE! Boos, cheers, chants, just pure electricity, as the PWX Premier Champion Brock Lesnar made his way out. The roof of the Wells Fargo Center seemed like it might fly off at any minute.
Lesnar hands the title over to referee Earl Hebner, who hands it to Eric Bischoff.
Both men step towards the center of the ring and stare each other down as Michael finishes things off with his trademark...
Oh yeah, it's big fight time, folks! Here we go!
MATCH EIGHT
PWX PREMIER TITLE
1 Fall, 30 Minute Time Limit
"The Beast" Brock Lesnar (2-0, Champion) vs. Diamond Dallas Page (3-0)
Referee: Earl Hebner
Lesnar comes out hard and fast and pulls DDP over, and the crowd is rocking! DDP is laying down blows and he hooks himself on the ropes. Hebner tells Lesnar to break it up, but Lesnar pulls DDP off the ropes and delivers a Belly-to-Belly Suplex! Lesnar pops up and flips off the fans and they are chanting, "LESNAR SUCKS! LESNAR SUCKS!" Lesnar then tries to run and deliver a clothesline to Page, but Page ducks it and tackles "The Beast" into the corner. He delivers a series of back and forth punches and then hits a Side Belly-to-Belly Suplex of his own, going for a cover and getting almost a two count!
The crowd are chanting "DDP! DDP! DDP!" now, but Lesnar makes a comeback, driving a shoulder into Page's midsection and slamming him into the buckles! Lesnar lays into him with a series of shoulder thrusts and then pulls him out into a short clothesline! Lesnar goes for the cover now, but only gets a two count.
