The Hart Foundation retained the WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championships by defeating The Miz & John Morrison by submission at 19:03. This was a Clash of Champions rematch between these teams. Neidhart planted Morrison into the mat with a spinebuster and tagged in Hart, who gave him a pointed elbow drop and then put him in the Sharpshooter to get the submission as Neidhart tackled The Miz to prevent him from breaking it up.
WWE United States Champion WALTER spoke to Mean Gene Okerlund about his impressive run as champion, going back to when it was the NXT Championship. Mean Gene asked him about comments made by Eddie Guerrero on Monday Night RAW. He responded, saying that if Guerrero wants to find out why he is known as “The Ring General” all he has to do is meet him on the battleground in Boston. Then, we’ll see who is the best champion.
“The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase defeated Bubba Ray Dudley by referee’s stoppage at 8:19. DiBiase put Bubba Ray in the Million Dollar Dream, causing him to go to sleep. After the match, DiBiase was joined in the ring by the BDC. He ordered a hit on D-Von, and they destroyed him. The sound of shattered glass signalled the arrival of “Stone Cold” Steven Austin who ran to the ring to take on all five men by himself. Soon, John Cena and WWE Smackdown World Champion Sting had joined him to clear the ring.
After the commercial break, Mean Gene Okerlund caught up with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to ask him why he gave Sting and Cena the double bird salute after they helped him deal with the BDC. Austin said he didn’t ask for any help and he don’t need it, and he came for a fight and them sumbitches gone and ruined it for him. Furthermore, he ain’t leaving Chicago without a fight. He wants any one of those BDC assholes to meet him in the ring tonight so he can open a can of whoop ass on ‘em. And that’s the bottom line ‘cause Stone Cold said so!
Brian Cage defeated Rey Fénix by pinfall at 10:53. Fénix executed a handspring cutter and a meteora on Cage to get some close pinfalls, but when he went for the Fire Driver, Cage slipped free, nailed him with a discus clothesline and delivered a quick Drillclaw for the win.
Mean Gene met up with the BDC, who were livid about what happened earlier tonight. DiBiase said that Austin and Cena are royal pains in the butt, but said that Sting was worst of all, and complained that he stole the title from him at Clash of Champions. JBL said that if Austin wants a fight, he would gladly give him another whoopin’ just like he did a month ago at Extreme Rules. After tonight, it’ll be the Texas Rattlesnake 0 and the Texas Multi-Millionaire 2!
Roman Reigns was escorted to the ring by his esteemed tribal counsel, one Paul Heyman, who spoke of his Tribal Chief’s acquisition of a shot at the Mash-Up Wrestling World Men’s Championship at Survivor Series by disposing of the so-called Apex Predator, Randy Orton. He claimed that the greatest prize in all professional wrestling was held by the wrong Samoan. An imposter thinks he deserves to sit at the Head of the Table, but he but a mere subject masquerading as a great warrior. Roman Reigns took the mic and said he appreciates Samoans doing great things for their heritage, but he gets deeply offended when they do things that make people question who belongs at the Head of the Table. Reigns will quash all the chattering and prove without a shadow of a doubt that he is the greatest Samoan warrior their homeland has ever produced, and at Survivor Series, he will take Joe’s title and make he bow down before his Tribal Chief.
The new WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion, Bayley, interrupted a Mean Gene interview with Ember Moon, hitting her in the back with a kendo stick and then knocking her out with her new championship title belt. Bayley said that Bianca Belair can kiss her golden butt because the Golden Role Model is now the gold standard for women’s champions. Bayley holds the original women’s championship and Belair is a poser – a pretended to the throne.
Paige defeated Billie Kay by submission at 3:58 with the PTO.
Bray Wyatt hosts an episode of the Firefly Funhouse where he hangs a picture of Rowdy Roddy Piper on the wall and talks to Ramblin’ Rabbit and Mercy the Buzzard about fancy accessories like championship belts – and of course the fanciest of them all is the Smackdown World Championship worn by Sting. Wyatt is a big fan of Sting but he isn’t. He wants a new belt and he wants the big fancy one that Sting wears around his waist. Suddenly, the door bell rings. Wyatt looks surprised. He wasn’t expecting guests. He answers the door. A short, pale-faced man in a suit stands at the door. He introduces himself as Paul Bearer, and he was a special delivery for Wyatt and hands him a letter. Bearer leaves. Wyatt thanks him and waves goodbye. He asks the fireflies if he should open it. They say yes. He opens it and reads it. I will soon return, and when I do, I will burn down your house of cards and everything in it. Rest in peace. Wyatt, Ramblin’ Rabbit and Mercy the Buzzard scream out in horror.
“Stone Cold” Steve Austin defeated John Bradshaw Layfield by pinfall at 15:43 in this Extreme Rules rematch. The BDC showed up to try to help JBL. The Dudley Boyz, John Cena and Sting showed up to act as equalizers. A huge brawl took place around the ring. DiBiase got in the ring and tried to knock out Austin with his loaded glove, but Austin ducked, kicked him in the abdomen and gave him a Stone Cold Stunner. However, after that, JBL nailed him with a Clothesline from Wall Street. The referee was out of position, allowing Cena to come in and give JBL an Attitude Adjustment. After both men recovered, they had a fist fight. JBL went for a whip. Austin countered. JBL came bouncing off the ropes looking for another Clothesline from Wall Street, but Austin took him down with a Lou Thesz Press. Back to their feet, Austin hit the kick and the Stone Cold Stunner to end the match.
