HART FOUNDATION vs. WORLD’S GREATEST TAG TEAM : Jim Cornette threw his tennis racket to Charlie Haas while the referee’s back was turned, but when he turned around, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart blasted through him with a pounce. Neidhart tagged in Bret “The Hitman” Hart and together they gave Haas the Hart Attack. Shelton Benjamin entered the ring to try to prevent a pin, but Neidhart clotheslined him to the floor, then made the cover on Haas as Hart knocked Benjamin into the barricade with a suicide dive. 1…2…3! (12:33) -- Winners by Pinfall: The Hart Foundation
“Mean” Gene Okerlund interviewed the WWE Tag Team Champions, Harlem Heat, to get their reaction to comments made a week ago by FTR about wanting a shot at their titles. They said those fruit booties can have a match any time, any place. Dash Harwood and Cash Wheeler appeared and asked them for a shot at Extreme Rules. The Dudley Boyz entered the scene and said FTR hadn’t shown they deserve anything. What’s more, they want another shot at Harlem Heat, so they challenged FTR to a match tonight to decide who will challenge Harlem Heat for the straps. FTR said they don’t back down from a challenge and they’ll send Bubba Ray and D-Von back to Dudleyville empty-handed.
NIKKI CROSS vs. BAYLEY : Bayley drove Nikki Cross’s face into an exposed turnbuckle and then executed the arm-trap headlock driver on her for the win. She continued to beat up Cross after having her hand raised, prompting Becky Lynch to rush to the ring. Bayley fled the ring as Lynch slid into it, grabbing her Money in the Bank briefcase and heading for the exits. Lynch grabbed a microphone and said it was time for the two of them to have a fight. Seeing as how Bayley loves to use illegal objects and the environment outside the ring (a reference to last week), Lynch said that it’ll be anything goes when they face each other at Extreme Rules! (5:15) -- Winner by Pinfall: Bayley
“Mean Gene” Okerlund interviewed Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, who hasn’t been seen for a few weeks. Heenan said that he was really busy scouting talent, which is why he’s here. He has identified talent both inside and out of WWE to join the Heenan Family. Okerlund asked who they were and Heenan refused to tell. Now is not the right time. He’ll find out with the rest of the humanoids when the time is right.
REY MISTERIO JR. & LUCHA BROS. vs. LEGADO DEL FANTASMA : Rey Misterio Jr. executed the 6-1-9 on Raul Mendoza, then Rey Fénix and Penta El 0M executed the diving double-foot stomp package piledriver combo on him to secure the win. (10:21) -- Winners by Pinfall: Rey Misterio Jr. & Lucha Bros.
Bray Wyatt hosted an episode of the Firefly Funhouse wherein he discussed the topic of bad guys. He used to be a bad guy, but he’s all better now. The Firefly Funhouse is a happy place where there are no bad guys allowed. Here, everyone is safe from bad guys and dead guys, like The Undertaker. Abby the Witch reminds him there is someone very eager to visit. Wyatt knows who she is talking about. He wants in, but he won’t let him in. Not in here. He needs to go back where he belongs and take all the other bad guys in the universe along with him.
EMBER MOON vs. TONI STORM : Ember Moon climbed the turnbuckle and went for Eclipse. Toni Storm knew it was coming and dropped to her back to avoid it, then kipped up and hit Moon with a thrust kick to the mid-section. She hooked her arms to give her Storm Zero, but Moon escaped, swept her legs and put Storm in a Boston crab. Storm got to the ropes to force a break. Moon pulled Storm off the ropes and gave Storm a bridging German suplex for a long 2-count. She climbed the turnbuckle but this time Storm got up and ran to the ropes to trip Moon. Storm climbed to the top turnbuckle and executed a superplex. She rolled over into a lateral press but Moon kicked out at two. They got up and exchanged fists and forearm shots until they were both wobbly. Moon went for a clothesline. Storm ducked and ran to the ropes. They hit each other with clotheslines and hit the mat. When they both rose to their feet, Storm received a step-up enzuigiri kick, but then she gave Moon a superkick. Double-headbutts put them both on dream street. Moon charged at Storm, who was in the corner. Storm got a boot up, then executed a release German suplex that sent Moon’s head into the bottom turnbuckle. Moon was out. Storm dragged out of the corner, picked her up off the mat and executed Storm Zero. 1…2…3! (15:19) -- Winner by Pinfall: Toni Storm
Mean Gene asked Eddie Guerrero to comment on defending the WWE Intercontinental Championship against the former champion Ricky Steamboat. Guerrero was not worried about Steamboat. He said that Steamboat had a nice run with the title, but he didn’t have what it took to beat Latino Heat. Mean Gene also asked him about the man under the ring during his title defense against AJ Styles a week ago. Guerrero claimed to have no knowledge of it. AJ Styles showed up and said that Eddie was lying, he cheated, and he stole the win and title from him. Eddie played fake innocent, but then told Styles that he was barking up the wrong tree and he would need to go play his detective games elsewhere.
FIRE & FLAVA vs. SHAYNA BASZLER & NIA JAX : Nia Jax ragdolled Keira Hogan in a bearhug and then gave Tasha Steelz a Samoan drop. She tagged in Shayna Baszler, who came in and applied the Ace of Spades to Steelz, which made her tap out immediately. (4:06) -- Winners by Submission: Shayna Baszler & Nia Jax
Paul Heyman told Mean Gene that Sting’s title win at Summerslam was a total fluke. Once in a lifetime miracles happen from time to time. That is why there is a show on Netflix called Unsolved Mysteries. We may never know why or how Sting defeated Reigns when all logical-rational thought pointed to Reigns successfully defending the title. However, miracles are identified and named thusly for a reason – they don’t happen twice. That is why at Extreme Rules, the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, will once again take his rightful place at the head of the table when he wins the WWE Universal Championship.
TAKA MICHINOKU vs. TOMMASO CIAMPA : Tommaso Ciampa executed the Fairy Tale Ending and covered Taka Michinoku to pick up the win. (7:34) -- Winner by Pinfall: Tommaso Ciampa
“Stone Cold” Steve Austin called “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase out to the ring, saying his time was up and he needs to come give him his WWE Universal Championship title shot at Clash of the Champions (in October) or he’ll hunt him down and stomp a mudhole in his ass. DiBiase appeared on the Titantron, with the rest of the BDC, and said that wasn’t going to happen and there was no way he would ever get within a hundred feet of “The Million Dollar Man” because everybody has a price. DiBiase threw his head back and laughed, then JBL, Bobby Roode and James Storm joined in. With Austin watching them laugh on the big screen, he didn’t see Elias enter the ring from behind and smash a guitar over his head. Austin was knocked out cold and Elias was booed all the way to the back.
DUDLEY BOYZ vs. FTR : Bubba Ray and D-Von executed the 3-D on Cash Wheeler. D-Von pinned him but Dax Harwood dove in to break it up. Harwood and Bubba Ray began to brawl all over the ring. The referee tried to break it up and force them out of the ring. In so doing, he was sandwiched between them and the turnbuckles. They fell out of the ring and kept fighting. D-Von came outside to help Bubba Ray. As the fighting continued, Wheeler hit Bubba Ray from behind with a steel chair and gave him a second shot to the face. D-Von started punching at him and Harwood shoved him from behind into the turnbuckle post. Harwood and Wheeler gave D-Von the Mind Breaker spike piledriver on the floor. They send him into the ring, revived the referee, and then Wheeler pinned D-Von for the win. (14:27) -- Winners by Pinfall: FTR
