WWE CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND MATCH: REY MISTERIO JR. vs. RAUL MENDOZA : Rey Misterio Jr. executed the 6-1-9 on Raul Mendoza, which set him up for the West Coast Pop. Earning the 3-count pinfall victory, Misterio advanced to the quarterfinals of the WWE Cruiserweight Championship tournament. (10:36) -- Winner by Pinfall: Rey Misterio Jr.
Mean Gene interviewed Brian Cage, who said that things didn’t go his way at Money in the Bank because of that fat tub of lard Kevin Owens. Cage said he wants to take out his frustrations on Owens for preventing him from getting the Money in the Bank briefcase and challenged Owens to a match next week to show him and the rest of the world why you don’t get in the way of Brian Cage – because he’s not a man, he’s a machine!
TONI STORM & EMBER MOON vs. THE BELLA TWINS : Ember Moon executed the Eclipse on Nikki Bella and pinned her for what she thought would be the win, but Brie Bella broke up the fall and gave Moon a Bella Buster. Both women tagged out. Storm got the better of Brie after the double hot tags, as she executed Storm Zero and pinned her for the win. (10:20) -- Winners by Pinfall: Toni Storm & Ember Moon
WWE CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND MATCH: SHO FUNAKI vs. TOMMASO CIAMPA : Tommaso Ciampa executed the Fairy Tale Ending on Sho Funaki and pinned him to advance to the next record of the tournament. (6:51) -- Winner by Pinfall: Tommaso Ciampa
Mean Gene Okerlund met up with “Macho Man” Randy Savage to ask him what it feels like to be the most hotly sought after talent in WWE, and what he discussed with Paul Heyman last week. Before Savage could even answer the question, Jim Cornette showed up to pitch him on joining his elite stable of the World’s Best. Cornette ushered the Macho Man off camera, saying that it would be better to talk in private, and that he should come to the World’s Best locker room to meet the calibre of talent he represents and to hear from them what being one of the World’s Best could do for you.
WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH: JASON JORDAN vs. WALTER {c} : WALTER executed a burning lariat, followed by a folding powerbomb to put away Jason Jordan and successfully defend his title. (9:13) -- Winner by Pinfall: WALTER
After the match, WALTER got on the mic and said that Jason Jordan is supposed to be a great American hero. Although he wraps himself up in the colours of the flag, he doesn’t represent his country well. If this is the best hero America has, then the United States Championship will remain around the waist of this Austrian Ring General forever. Is there no better American hero in this business? YOUR TIME IS UP, MY TIME IS NOW! YOU CAN’T SEE ME, MY TIME IS NOW! It’s John Cena and he sensed that WALTER was just begging him to come out here. If he wants a challenge from the best America has to offer, then here it is. Cena wants to the win the WWE United States Championship at Summerslam. So what do you say, commandante? WALTER says that he would love to show the world that the Ring General is better than John Cena, but he doesn’t see peak Cena. He sees rusty I-just-returned-from-making-my-latest-crappy-action-movie John Cena. He doesn’t want there to be any excuses from Cena that he wasn’t ready, so he tells him no. Cena says he was born ready and he’ll prove it by wrestling right here, right now. It is then decided that if Cena can beat WALTER’s right hand man, Alexander Wolfe, he’ll give him a shot at his gold. Cena accepts, so we have:
JOHN CENA vs. ALEXANDER WOLFE : John Cena executed the Attitude Adjustment and pinned Alexander Wolfe to seal the deal. Cena fought off interference attempts from both Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel on the way to scoring this victory. He will now challenge WALTER for the WWE United States Championship at Summerslam and pledges to bring the title home to the USA! USA! USA! USA! (7:24) -- Winner by Pinfall: John Cena
Mean Gene Okerlund interviewed Ricky Steamboat about successfully defending the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WWE Money in the Bank against AJ Styles. Steamboat was humble in victory, acknowledging what a great competitor Styles was. Steamboat said that his talent and skills spoke for themselves. He said he was at the top of his game and that is why he remains the champion. When asked what was next for him, he said he wasn’t sure, but that he won’t back down from a challenge. Daniel Bryan entered the picture and said that he wants to challenge Steamboat for the title. Eddie Guerrero showed up and said that Bryan was beat fair and square at Wrestlemania. Guerrero said that Steamboat only kept his title against him because he fell off the turnbuckle. Bryan said Guerrero failed to mention he threw his boot at him. While they were bickering, AJ Styles showed up. They asked what he wanted. He said he came to congratulate Steamboat for beating him, but said if they ever face each other again, he would walk out the champion. More bickering ensued. Guerrero pushed Bryan, who pushed him back. Styles and Steamboat tried to get in the middle but got dragged into a tussle that required several officials to break it up.
WWE CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND MATCH: CHAD GABLE vs. NUNZIO : After breaking a Fuijwara armbar by getting his foot on the bottom rope, Chad Gable reversed a whip attempt, causing Nunzio to get a forearm to the face from Johnny “The Bull” Stamboli. Gable then gave Nunzio an overhead belly-to-belly suplex and applied an ankle lock to Nunzio. Gable shouted at the referee, who had been distracted by Chuck Palumbo, and he turned around to see Nunzio tapping out. (10:14) -- Winner by Submission: Chad Gable
BECKY LYNCH vs. BILLIE KAY : Becky Lynch executed a Bexploder Suplex on Billie Kay before fending off an attempt at interference by Kay’s IIconics teammate, Peyton Royce, giving her a Manhandle Slam. She then put Kay in the Dis-arm-her to get the quick win. After the match, Lynch was attacked by Bayley, who hit her in the back of the head with her Money in the Bank briefcase before planting her into it with an arm-trap headlock driver. (4:19) -- Winner by Submission: Becky Lynch
Mean Gene Okerlund was standing by with breaking news from WWE Chairman of the Board, Vince McMahon, who decided that at Summerslam, Ricky Steamboat would be defending his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Daniel Bryan. However, next week, Steamboat and Bryan will join together as a team to face Eddie Guerrero and AJ Styles, and if Guerrero and Styles win, then they too would challenge Steamboat for the title in a fatal fourway match. After making this announcement, Kevin Owens told Mean Gene he needed a moment of his time. He told Mean Gene that next week, he is going to KO The Machine!
WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS #1 CONTENDER’S MATCH: DUDLEY BOYZ vs. LUCHA BROS vs. WORLD’S GREATEST TAG TEAM : Bubba Ray and D-Von executed the 3-D on Penta El 0M. Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas executed their superkick into a bridging German suplex combo on D-Von Dudley. Rey Fénix and Penta executed the diving double-foot stomp package piledriver combo on Benjamin. Although each team pulled off their finished in the last five minutes of the match, none of the teams were able to secure the win. Decorum broke down as they brawled outside the ring. Benajmin and Haas got some chairs out and started hitting everyone with them. The Dudley Boyz responded by bringing out the tables. They would put Penta through a table with Bubba Bomb from the ring apron. While digging for tables under the ring, a large ladder came out from under the ring. The last thing to happen was Rey Fénix climbing to the top of it and executing a diving corkscrew plancha onto Bubba Ray, D-Von, Benjamin and Haas as they brawled on the floor down below. With no winner declared, the show went off the air with Mauro Ranallo, Michael Cole and Tony Schiavone asking what this result would mean for the tag team division. (18:38) -- No Decision
