The show started with Triple H coming down to the ring to cut a long promo about his lose to Kevin Owens at Hell in a Cell the previous night. He made several excuses and claimed that Owens got lucky. On any other night, Triple H would come out on top because he is the Game and he is the King of Kings. Finally, Vince McMahon has heard enough of it. “No Chance in Hell” cuts off Triple H. Vince comes out and says that he warned Triple H what would happen if he failed to win last night. He put the power in his hands. Now, he has to reinstate a man who was previously banned from WWE and add a bunch of other talent to the roster because Triple H couldn’t get the job done. All that money in new salaries he has to pay out has to come from somewhere. He’ll cover a portion of it by taking Triple H off the books. Triple H pleads for him not to do it, but Vince does (and he doesn’t even care that they are family): “Triple H! You’re fired!”
DUDLEY BOYZ vs. BEER MONEY INC. : After fighting each other inside Hell in a Cell the night before, these two teams picked right up where they left off. “Glorious” Bobby Roode and “Cowboy” James Storm sought revenge for Bubba Ray and D-Von putting them through tables. It didn’t look like they were going to get what they wanted. Roode received the What’s Up! Diving heabutt to the junk and Storm was given a Bubba-Bomb on the ring apron. However, JBL grabbed Bubba Ray’s foot and he got down and got into a shoving match with JBL. The referee got in the middle to break it up. Meanwhile, “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase knocked out D-Von with a stiff right hand while wearing his loaded glove. Roode picked him up and gave him a Glorious DDT and then pinned him for the 3-count. (11:17) -- Winners by Pinfall: Beer Money Inc.
Mean Gene Okerlund found Triple H throwing his gear into the backseat of a rental car. Mean Gene asked him for his reaction – his final words – after getting fired by his father-in-law. Triple H said that firing him was a huge mistake that Vince will come to regret.
MONEY IN THE BANK QUALIFIER: TONI STORM vs. BIG SWOLE : After giving Big Swole a diving leg drop from off the top rope, Toni Storm executed Storm Zero on her to defeat the newcomer and earn a spot in the Money in the Bank match. (5:53) -- Winner by Pinfall: Toni Storm
CHAD GABLE vs. NUNZIO : Nunzio had Johnny “The Bull” Stamboli and Chuck Palumbo with him to try to help him in his debut. However, Chad Gable had Jason Jordan in his corner. He dealt with Stamboli and Palumbo. Nunzio tried to get Gable in a Fujiwara armbar, but Gable escaped and gave him Chaos Theory to get the win. (7:12) -- Winner by Pinfall: Chad Gable
Mean Gene Okerlund had an exclusive interview with Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, who was making his first official appearance in WWE. Heenan said that it is now official. He has obtained his managing license to work in WWE. He said that he has come to the big time to get rich and share some of his earnings with the men who will make him rich. He claimed he was the smartest man in the business and that he would soon assemble a roster of clients that will prosper under his guidance and leadership. Over the course of the summer, he will be scouting out talent, and when the time is right, he will reveal who he brings into the Heenan Family – and, Gene, you’ll know who they are because they’ll all be wearing gold around their waists!
MONEY IN THE BANK QUALIFIER: BRIAN PILLMAN vs. BRIAN CAGE : Brian Pillman executed a swinging neckbreaker on Brian Cage and pinned him for a 2-count. He followed that up with an Air Pillman attempt. Cage caught him in mid-flight and countered with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Cage nailed Pillman with a discus clothesline and then gave him the Cage Breaker powerbomb. He covered him for the 1-2-3. (12:38) -- Winner by Pinfall: Brian Cage
Vince McMahon stood in the ring with the WWE United States Championship title belt. He announced that since NXT was now closed, the NXT titles were defunct. Harlem Heat defeated #DIY and Rhea Ripley defeated Tenille Dashwood. In his eyes, this proved the superiority of WWE superstars to the NXT roster. However, the NXT Champion, WALTER, was not defeated at Hell in a Cell. In fact, he beat the Phenom to successfully defend the title. He was very impressed and so he decided that the only remaining NXT Champion shall become the inaugural WWE United States Champion. WALTER came to the ring joined by Imperium for the official title belt ceremony. The Undertaker also came to the ring. Tensions rose but quickly subsided when The Undertaker put WALTER over by calling him a hell of a competitor and offered his hand in a show of respect. WALTER shook his hand, then The Undertaker left. WALTER said that no one could defeat him for this title. There is a limit to what WWE superstars can achieve and the always reach their limit when they enter the ring with WALTER. As if on cue, “Limitless” Keith Lee came out and disagreed. He challenged WALTER for his title, saying that he’ll prove WALTER wrong, and then he’ll bask in his glory.
“MACHO MAN” RANDY SAVAGE vs. ANGEL GARZA : Randy Savage made his WWE debut in grand fashion by pinning Angel Garza for the win after giving him his patented diving elbow drop from off the top rope. Garza had a short-lived advantage after he ripped his pants off and threw them in Savage’s face, but that only served to make this wild beast of a man’s blood boil. Jim Cornette was on commentary during the match and he had high praise for Savage, saying that he was exactly the kind of wrestler who belonged in his World’s Best faction. (4:56) -- Winner by Pinfall: “Macho Man” Randy Savage
MICKEY JAMES vs. NIKKI BELLA : Mickie James executed a hurricanra on Nikki Bella that got a long 2-count. Brie Bella tried to interfere but James gave her a Mick Kick. Bella charged at her for a clothesline but she ducked it and gave her a snap German suplex. Next, she executed a Mickie-DT and covered her for the win. After the match, James looked into the camera and said that she was coming for Ripley and her title. (9:33) -- Winner by Pinfall: Mickie James
Mean Gene Okerlund was standing by with #DIY. He wanted to know what was next for the team now that they are full-fledged members of the WWE roster. Johnny Gargano said that they were going to train extra hard and get back to becoming the number one contenders so they could get another shot at the WWE Tag Team Championships. Tommaso Ciampa said that wasn’t going to work for him. They had a good run together, but it is time for Tommaso Ciampa to head out on his own and make a name for himself. Gargano was taken by surprise and asked if he has fully thought this through. Ciampa said that he had and his decision was final. He shook Gargano’s hand and then walked away.
BEST FRIENDS vs. LEGADO DEL FANTASMA : Santos Escobar lifted Orange Cassidy up for a brainbuster but he did a corkscrew out of it and executed the stun dog millionaire instead. A dazed Escobar fell back into his corner. Raul Mendoza tagged in and charged at him. Cassidy did a somersault evasion and hit him with an Orange Punch. He picked up Mendoza and gave him Beach Break. Cassidy pinned him and his friends Trent Barreta and Chuck Taylor stood guard to keep Joaquin Wilde from breaking the count. (7:02) -- Winners by Pinfall: Best Friends
Vince McMahon was walking towards a parked limousine when Eddie Guerrero showed up and told him he wanted a rematch against Ricky Steamboat for the Intercontinental Championship. He argued that last night’s result was unfair and Steamboat didn’t pin or submit him, so he deserves another shot at the gold. McMahon said that he did throw a boot at him, knocking him off the top turnbuckle. That seemed fair grounds for the referee to disqualify him. Guerrero argued that a boot isn’t a foreign object as he wears them in all his matches. 99% of wrestlers wear boots. McMahon considered the request for a moment and told Eddie that he could have his rematch if we could defeat a mystery opponent next week on RAW.
MONEY IN THE BANK QUALIFIER: STING vs. THE MIZ : The Miz had help from John Morrison, who provided a good distraction to get him the advantage, but when he executed the Skull Crushing Finale, Sting kicked out of the ensuing pinfall. The Miz was frustrated and took his anger out on the referee. He slowly and methodically worked on Sting’s knees before applying a figure four leglock. Sting refused the quit. The Miz got help from Morrison, who reached in and locked hands with The Miz for added leverage. The referee spotted it and kicked their hands apart. Sting turned the hold over and The Miz cried out in pain. This was the turning point that allowed Sting to rally with clotheslines, Stinger splashes and a powerslam, which he followed up with the Scorpion Death Lock. Morrison got on the apron to distract the referee from seeing his friend tap out. Sting released the hold and grabbed Morrison by the hair. The Miz cut Sting down to size with a chop block and tried to go for a DDT, but Sting held onto the middle rope. He got to his feet and hit a dropkick and then the Scorpion Death Drop. 1…2…3! (14:48) -- Winner by Pinfall: Sting
