LUCHA BROTHERS vs. IMPERIUM : The Lucha Brothers and Imperium are two of three teams that will compete to become the first NXT Tag Team Champions at NXT TAKEOVER: BROOKLYN. The other team, #DIY, beat the Lucha Brothers in tag team competition two weeks ago and lost to Imperium last week. Imperium was looking to build more momentum going into TAKEOVER, while the Lucha Brothers were looking to get over their loss to #DIY and even the ledger against their TAKEOVER opponents. It was a hot contest with several nearfalls. The pivotal momentum came when Aichner lifted hopped onto the top rope to go for a double-springboard moonsault only to see Rey Fénix run over and hop onto the rope, taking him down to the mat with a Spanish fly! Marcel Barthel tried to break up the pinfall but Penta El 0M cut him off with a slingblade. Aichner managed to kick out, but after Penta tosses Barthel from the ring, he and Fénix executed their diving double-foot stomp spiked package piledriver to get the win. (14:40) Winners: Lucha Brothers
Pete Dunne was doing an interview about the reasons why he doesn’t like Adam Page, which include getting hit with the Buckshot Lariat when he was Page’s tag team partner and the moment he first him, when Page showed up with an couple of bottles of beer in hand. He said he wanted to share a beer with Dunne as offer of peace. Dunne asked if Page was an idiot. He took a swig from one of his bottles, said he isn’t but Dunne is, then threw his spare bottle past Dunne’s head before smashing the other over his head. Dunne fell like a ton of bricks. Page said the time for playing nice and friendly was over. If Dunne wants a real fight, Page is going to give it to him. It could have been a beautiful friendship, but Dunne didn’t want that. Now, he’s getting a bitter enemy, and at NXT TAKEOVER: BROOKLYN, Page will make Dunne regret that decision.
EMBER MOON & NIKKI CROSS vs. IICONICS : Nikki Cross gave Peyton Royce a cannonball dive off the ring apron. Back in the ring, Ember Moon executed the Eclipse on Billie Kay and pinned her to get the win. (6:53) Winners: Toni Storm
A video promoting the NXT Women’s Championship title match at NXT TAKEOVER: BROOKLYN was shown. The video featured Tenille Dashwood and Toni Storm, showing the paths they both took to get to the finals, and comments from both women about how they intend to become the first NXT Women’s Champion and what it would mean to them to win it.
DOMINIK DIJAKOVIC vs. SANTOS ESCOBAR : A distraction by Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde allowed Santos Escobar to take control of the match. After he knocked Dominik Dijakovic out of the ring, Escobar hit him with an Arrow From the Depths of Hell. He came back into the ring and distracted the referee while Mendoza and Wilde double-teamed Dijakovic on the outside. In spite of all this, Dijakovic managed a comeback that included executed a springoboard corkscrew moonsault onto Mendoza and Wilde to take them out of the picture, and culminated with him executing Time to Fly followed by Feast Your Eyes on Escobar to get the win. (11:38) Winner: Dominik Dijakovic
Following his win, Dijakovic took the microphone and said that has beaten every member of Legado del Fantasma, and in decisive fashion. This proves that Dijakovic should be featured on NXT TAKEOVER: BROOKLYN, except he isn’t booked. With only four matches on the card, there’s space for one more and he wants it. He asks who wants to step up for a big day. The challenge was answered by “The Bastard” PAC! He came out and said that he just finished signing his NXT contract with his old friend William Regal and he’s itching to get in the ring. Takeover: Brooklyn is the next event on the NXT calendar, so that’s where he will make his debut, and when he does, Dijakovic will regret he made an open challenge. Dijakovic said he has n regrets and that beating someone with the notoriety of PAC is exactly what he needs to set himself up to become the top contender for the NXT Championship. In Brooklyn, PAC is going to Feast his Eyes on Dijakovic!
This week’s show ended with the contract signing for the NXT Championship title match at NXT TAKEOVER: BROOKLYN between the champion WALTER and the challenger Kevin Owens. William Regal left his spot at the commentary table to preside over this ceremonial contract signing. Owens came to the ring first, thanked William Regal for giving him this match, and told the entire world that there is no better fighter on the planet than him. That’s why he’s known as a Prizefighter. When it comes down to it, he always gets the job done. WALTER is going to have to learn that the hard way. Next, WALTER came to the ring accompanied by Alexander Wolfe. WALTER said that he is disgusted at the choice of opponent for his first official title defense. He things NXT can do better than this ingrate. WALTER said that Owens isn’t a wrestler and that he revels in being called a fighter is a disgrace to the sport that he so dearly loves. Owens said that WALTER needs to get the stick out from his ass before he put pun to paper and then flipped the pen at WALTER’s chest. WALTER flipped the table over on Owens. They brawled. Owens started to get the upper hand when Wolfe started to hit him from behind. Owens turned around, kicked him and gave him a stunner. However, WALTER then ran him over with a big boot. He grabbed Owens and gave him a release German suplex. Then, WALTER set the table back on its legs, picked up Owens and powerbombed him through it! He picked up the contract and the pen, signed his name to the contract and tossed them down on Owens. WALTER picked up his title and left the ring. The thing we saw was an unconscious KO laying in the rubble of a broken table with the contract for the main event of NXT TAKEOVER: BROOKLYN laying on his chest.
