Vince McMahon made a surprise appearance. He came to the ring to make a big announcement concerning the future of WWE television programming, saying that the original brand split was not functioning as he had hoped and has been scrapped. RAW and Smackdown will no longer be separate and distinct WWE brand TV shows. On the other hand, a new brand for young and upcoming superstars is launching this Wednesday in the Mash-Up Wrestling Event Center. It will be called NXT, emanating each week from the Full Sail Live venue at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. He urges everyone to tune it to see the stars of tomorrow compete in a battle royal for the NXT Championship beginning Wednesday, February 17!
BAM BAM BIGELOW vs. ELIAS : Bam Bam Bigelow had a score to settle with Elias as he held him responsible for his elimination from the Royal Rumble match (Elias swung a guitar at Keith Lee, who moved out of the way, causing it to smash on Bigelow’s head). Bigelow made good on his vow to get revenge. He treated Elias to a punishing series of power moves on his way to executing Greetings From Asbury Park and pinning him for the win. (7:18) -- Winner: Bam Bam Bigelow
BETH PHOENIX, BIANCA BELAIR, MICKIE JAMES & RHEA RIPLEY vs. JAZZ & THE RIOTT SQUAD : This hot, fast-paced, action-packed eight-woman tag team match saw Ripley and Jazz continue their hostilities from months prior and brawl away from ringside, into the crowd, and eventually into the backstage area about halfway through the match. As the match was coming to a close, Ruby Riott gave James a Riott Kick, Belair gave (11:50) -- Winners: Phoenix, Belair, James & Ripley
Hulk Hogan joined Rowdy Roddy Piper on the Piper’s Pit, where Piper asked him to comment on the attack by Roman Reigns on last week’s episode of RAW. Hogan felt blindsided and betrayed. Two months ago, when Imperium put Reigns on the shelf, Hogan vowed to get revenge for the Big Dog and he finally did it at the Royal Rumble. He said he couldn’t understand why Reigns turned on him. Paul Heyman crashes the set to give Hogan and the WWE Universe some breaking news. Roman Reigns has hired him as his personal advocate and counsel, and he wishes to inform us that his client will give his justification in a tell-all interview on Smackdown on the most must-see interview segment in all of wrestling: MIZ TV! Piper gets angry and threatens to hit Heyman and tells him he’ll never be welcome on his show ever again. Heyman backs away from Piper, but tells Hogan that he’ll want to tune in to MIZ TV to hear what his client has to say about the Hulkster.
LUCHA BROS. vs. WORLD’S GREATEST TAG TEAM : This was a hard fought tag team contest until Jim Cornette, who joined commentary to talk about his business partnership with the World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry, got up from the commentary table and slid his tennis racket into the ring to Charlie Haas, who hit El Penta 0M right between the eyes with it. That made it easy for he and Benjamin to put the double team on Rey Fénix. Haas held him in position for a Shelton Benjamin superkick and gave him a bridging German suplex for the win, thus qualifying for the WWE Tag Team Championship tournament. (12:40) -- Winners: World’s Greatest Tag Team
In a backstage segment, cameras caught Kevin Owens making an unscheduled appearance, getting past security to confront WWE CEO and Chairman of the Board Vince McMahon, who was just about to get into a limo to leave, about his status with the company. He demanded to be reinstated from his indefinite suspension. McMahon told Owens he was in no position to make such demands and that no one gets away with putting him on the spot like that, so on the upcoming Friday Night Smackdown, Kevin Owens will have a chance to win back his job and even qualify for a spot in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match in a match against the man that beat him in a Street Fight at the Royal Rumble – Rowdy Roddy Piper! But there is one catch. If Owens loses, he’ll remain suspended indefinitely until his contract runs out.
IVORY vs. BAYLEY : Bayley raked Ivory’s eyes, blinding her long enough to put her in an arm trap and execute a headlock driver to secure the victory. With the win, Bayley became the first woman to qualify for a spot in the women’s elimination chamber match. (6:08) -- Winner: Nikki Bella
EDDIE GUERRERO vs. BRAY WYATT : With help from Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, Bray Wyatt had Eddie Guerrero in position for Sister Abigail. However, the lights went out and a gong rang throughout the arena. When the lights came back on, The Undertaker was serving up big fists to Harper and Rowan. The distraction allowed Guerrero to free himself, give Wyatt a brainbuster and floatover for quick pin from which Wyatt was too late to kick out. After The Undertaker dislodged the ringsteps by whipping Rowan into them with full force, he put Harper through the commentator’s table with a Last Ride. The Undertaker and Bray Wyatt, who was still in the ring, locked eyes on each other for an intense staredown as the show came to an end. By getting the win, Guerrero became the first man to earn a spot in the men’s elimination chamber match. (13:17) -- Winner: Eddie Guerrero
