NWA Championship Wrestling Sept 5, 2020, Saturday TV Taping
Before the show opens on the set, we see the final seconds of the MSD World's Heavyweight Title Match last Sunday night between challenger NWA World's Heavyweight Champion Nick Bockwinkel w/mgr. James J. Dillon & MSD champion A.J. Styles. Bockwinkel was hit the the Styles Phonomenal Forearm for the defending champs victory. However before executing the move, it appears Styles was doing something with the arm band before executing the move. After the pin fall, Bockwinkel is bleeding from the forehead & Dillon is hoping mad & accusing the MSD champ of loading the elbow pad to win the match. Now we fade to...
The team of Gordon Solie & Jim Ross in front of the huge NWA Logo for the new episode of NWA Championship Wrestling. Gordon & Jim welcome the fans NWA Championship Wrestling. They briefly discuss what happened last Sunday night in St. Louis, especially the controversy in the MSD World's Title Match. Gordon adds they also had three NWA title changes at the PPV. In a wild NWA World's Tag Team Title defense, the champions MVC Terry Gordy & Steve Williams managed by 'Playboy' Gary Hart were defeated by manager James J. Dillons' tag team of Tully Blanchard & Arne Anderson in a pre-match attack by the challengers. 'Gentleman' Chris Adams with his valet Sunshine defeated World's Junior Heavyweight Champion Yoshihiro Tajiri for that belt with the superkick. And the lovely Sunshine can be was a major distraction last Sunday night. Jim adds that United States Women's Champion Cherry Bomb dropped the title to her rival Rosemary under very dubious means. Although the referee did not see it, it appeared Rosemary hit Cherry Bomb in the throat with a foreign object. Whether any action can be taken now is questionable.
Solie says the only man who can answer that is coming out now -- NWA Commissioner Jim Barnett. After exchanging pleasantries, Barnett informs them that it appeared in Mr. Bockwinkel & Miss Cherry Bomb's matches, there was use of a foreign object. However, the referee's decision must stand. We cannot go back & reverse decisions based on replay. And in the tag team title match, the pre-match brawl, while it affected the out come of the match, was not part of the match itself once the bell rang. We can levy fines & suspensions for the pre-match actions, there is little else we can do. For the record, Mr. Dillon & I had a real heated discussion behind closed doors. He knows how unhappy I was with what happened last Sunday night before that tag match. In fact I also had a meeting with other managers Rock Hunter & 'Playboy' Gary Hart about these attacks by members of their stables in matches that do not concern them. They have been reminded of the rules & they will be enforced. I will protect the integrity of the NWA.
We go to the ring with announcer Mike McGuirk for the first match of the day.
First Match. Single Match. 'Original Nature Boy' Buddy Rogers w/mgr. Bobby Davis submitted Robert Roode with the figure-four leglock. (6:33).
After the match, Gordon & Jim welcome Dillion & his Dynasty including the World's Heavyweight Champion Nick Bockwinkel, World's Tag Team Champions Arne Anderson & Tully Blanchard & United States Heavyweight Champion Greg 'Hammer' Valentine. Dillion says they have all the major belts in his stable. Ross reminds him they don't have the World's Junior Heavyweight Belt held by Chris Adams. JJ just smiles. Nick says the next time he meets AJ Styles he is going give him a wrestling lesson he will never forget. Arne & Tully tells MVC, the Assassins, the Rock n Roll Express & the others to get in line if they want a shot at the best tag team in the MSD universe. Valentine adds that he is done with Roddy Piper & he has better competition to meet in the NWA.
