CCW Superstar Saturday on SCA, episode 7
The camera pans the Andy Kaufman Studios in Dothan, Alabama, and then comes upon the commentary team of Gorilla Monsoon and the Honky Tonk Man.
GM: Welcome to the latest edition of Continental Championship Wrestling’s Superstar Saturday on Sports Cannel America. I’m Gorilla Monsoon and by my side is the one and only Honky Tonk Man.
HTM: We are rocking and rolling today, Gorilla. We have three qualifying matches to crown a new Gulf Coast Six Man Tag Team Champion with the winners advancing to Flair for the Gold on Sept. 5.
GM: And speaking of Flair, he and AJ Styles will go at it face-to-face via satellite. The Nature Boy will be going after Styles’ MUW Men’s Title at the show. And August has not been a calm one for Styles.
HTM: AJ Styles might be a fighting champion, but there’s a limit for anybody. You fight too much and you have the fight beat out of you eventually. I predict Styles hits the wall against Flair on Sept. 5.
GM: Also today we have Marty Jannetty versus Pat Tanaka. The Midnight Rockers and Badd Company will be squaring off for the Gulf Coast Tag Team Titles at Flair for the Gold. Randy Savage will also be wrestling “Sweet” Stan Lane. In what has become a surprising grudge match, the Midnight Express at Flair for the Gold will meet Savage and Steve Austin, known as Stone Cold Madness.
HTM: I’m still not calling them that.
GM: Now, let’s go to the ring for our first bout.
Vs.
Six Man Tag Team Title Qualifier: Stud Stable (Don Muraco, Big Show and Adrian Street) with Col. Robert Fuller vs. Ronnie Garvin and the Fantastics (Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers)
Referee: Joey Marella
Garvin starts out and wants Big Show, but gets Muraco. Muraco uses his power to dominate. Garvin falls into his corner and tags Fulton. Fulton and Rogers use quick tags and their speed to befuddle Muraco. He tags Big Show. Show grinds the Fantastics to a halt with his massive size and appears to be playing with them. Show choke lifts Fulton and throws him into the corner, demanding he tag Garvin. Garvin comes in and Show tags out to Street. Ronnie wins a slugfest, but gets caught in the wrong corner and Show nails him from behind. Adrian nails the Street Sweeper (full nelson legsweep), but Rogers breaks up the pin. Garvin tags Fulton. The heels use quick tags and work Fulton over with lots of cheating. Garvin gets frustrated and drops off the apron to the floor. He runs around the outside, blows by Fuller and drags Show off the apron by the leg. Muraco comes off the apron with a double axe handle. However, this leaves Street alone in the ring with Fulton and allows him to tag Rogers. They befuddle Street with a double crisscross, Fulton drops to all fours, Rogers hits a crossbody and Streets trips over Fulton. Rogers gets the pin. The Fantastics then dive out onto Muraco and Show post-match to save Garvin. Fuller claims this isn’t over.
Winners: Ronnie Garvin and the Fantastics by pinfall of Tommy Rogers on Adrian StreetCommercial
Ric Flair in a suit and dark sunglasses is at the commentary position with Monsoon and HTM.
GM: Ric Flair, on Sept. 5 at Flair for the Gold you will get your hands on AJ Styles for the MUW Men’s Title, but right now you will get to talk to him live via satellite.
A split screen comes up with Flair on one side and Styles on the other. Styles is in his wrestling gear and has a blank background behind him.
RF: Styles, you should be in this studio right now, looking me right in the eye. But, all these fans know you’re a gutless coward and you want no part of the Nature Boy. That’s why you’re not here and you’ll only show up at Flair for the Gold because of contractual obligations.
AJ: You got one thing right, I’m only showing up because of contractual obligations. I would never lower myself of my own choosing to go to CCW. I’m not in that studio today, because I couldn’t find Dothan, Alabama on a map. I’ve been wrestling all over the world, week in and week out, beating the best wrestlers of Mash-Up Wrestling. Meanwhile Space Mountain is giving its last ride before closing in the only backwater that would still have you.
RF: Hey, as I like to say, Space Mountain might be the oldest ride in the park, but it still has the longest line. I heard you say your grandma still drops her panties for the Nature Boy. Woo! Well, that’s damn true and so does your wife, your sister and your mom. I would have been your dad, but the Oakland Raiders beat me to the party. Woo!
AJ: You talk all you want Flair, because that’s all you are anymore. You’re all hot air. You may have CCW and its 10 fans fooled into thinking you’re still something…
RF: Hey, shut up, skinny boy. There’s an adult talking here, so you better listen. You insult me, fine. You insult the company I work for and all our great fans, that’s another matter. I make a simple challenge to you, to be the man you have to beat the man. So do that or don’t come Flair for the Gold.
AJ: You’re a broken record, Flair, saying the same thing over and over again and ain’t nobody clamoring for your greatest hits anymore. I’ll come to CCW at Flair for the Gold on Sept. 5, beat your sorry ass and move onto bigger and better things. For CCW this will be greatest night in the history of the territory. For AJ Styles, it will just be another Sunday.
Styles turns his head slightly and yells “cut the link!” We go back to full screen.
GM: Some sterns words from AJ Styles, the MUW Men’s Champion.
RF: That’s a title I’ve held before and will again. It turns my stomach to see what MUW has become with Styles at the top of the ladder. CCW has launched a new era for MUW and that will be cemented come Flair for the Gold when I knock that punk off his perch.

Marty Jannetty with Shawn Michaels vs. Pat Tanaka with Paul Diamond
Referee: Aubrey Edwards
Jannetty is ready to lockup, but Tanaka jaws at him. He slaps Jannetty in the face, who is stunned. Pat goes on talking and then shoves Jannetty in the chest. Marty shoves back harder, knocking Pat down. Tanaka pops up into an armdrag, pops up again into a dropkick and rolls to the floor. He talks with Diamond. Marty goes over to Michaels who tells him he’s got this. Tanaka comes back in. Jannetty goes over to the ropes, and Pat meets him with a shoulder through the strands. Tanaka takes over with strikes. He whips Marty into the ropes and they do a crisscross sequence that ends with a hiptoss by Jannetty. A scoop slam leads to a fist drop off the ropes and a quick two count. Jannetty works a rear chinlock. Tanaka works his way up and elbows out. Back into the ropes, Jannetty tries a rana, but Tanaka catches him for a powerbomb and a two count. Tanaka rolls Jannetty over and works a Boston Crab. Jannetty crawls for the ropes. Pat pulls him back into the ring. He crawls again. Diamond reaches through the ropes and punches Marty in the head. Edwards warns him. Michaels runs over and brawls with Diamond. However, Jannetty can’t take anymore and taps out.
Winner: Pat Tanaka by submissionCommercial
Santa Claus, obviously Jim Duggan with his beard half hanging off and chanting “ho!” instead of “ho, ho, ho,” is in the stands with a big red sack. He’s passing out Jolt Cola to the fans.
HTM: What is that idiot Jim Duggan doing, it’s late August, not Christmas.
GM: Well, Honky, any day can be Christmas with the gift of Jolt Cola. It’s all the sugar and twice the caffeine of other sodas. It’s also the sponsor of Flair for the Gold.
Duggan makes his way down to the commentary position. He shoots a thumbs up into the air and calls “Ho!” with the fans shouting back.
JD: Merry Christmas, Gorilla, and even you Honky Tonk Man. Here’s some great Jolt Cola for you.
HTM: Don’t you think you should be getting ready for your six man tag match against the Powers of Fear.
JD: They’ve got no power and I’ve got no fear.
HTM: You’ve also got no brains.
JD: You know why, I’ve got no fear. Because I couldn’t ask for two better partners than Strike Force. I know a lot of people last week thought it was odd that Tito Santana and Rick Martel were announced as my partners before their match with Badd Company. If they won that match and we won here this week, they would have had two matches at Flair for the Gold. And you know what they told me, “Hacksaw, we’ll take them both because we’re hardcore.” And I know they…
Duggan is cutoff by Haku, Barbarian and Warlord rushing the stage and pummeling Duggan, still in his Santa Claus suit. They drag him to ringside. The fans cheer and Martel and Santana run out to even the odds.
Vs.
Six Man Tag Team Titles Qualifier: Powers of Fear (Haku, Barbarian and Warlord) vs. Jim Duggan and Strike Force (Rick Martel and Tito Santana)
Referee: Joey Marella
This is pretty much a brawl from start to finish with various combinations taking turns in the ring and fighting on the floor with no tag. Referee Joey Marella just kind of lets it go. Strike Force hits a double team dive out onto Warlord wiping everybody out. Duggan gets isolated in the ring with Haku and Barbarian. Double big boot sets up the double top rope headbutt for the finish.
Winners: Powers of Fear via pinfall of Haku on DugganCommercial
GM: We know two teams advancing to the Golf Coast Six-Man Tag Team title match at Flair for the gold the Powers of Fear and Ronnie Garvin and the Fantastics. We’ve got one more match to go…wait, I’m being told there’s an altercation in the back we need to go to.
The camera cuts to a hallway where we find Big Bubba Rogers and Vinnie Vegas fighting with Scott Steiner and Rick Steiner. The Bodyguards are set to face the Steiners for the Southeastern Tag Team Titles at Flair for the Gold. Vegas lifts Rick by the throat and throws him into a metal case on wheels that rolls back. Scott blocks a powerbomb attempt by Rogers with a Frankensteiner onto the hard floor. But Vegas hits him with a clothesline as he stands. Scott is choke slammed through a craft services table. Food goes flying everywhere. Vegas picks up a bottle of Jolt Cola from the wreckage and takes a long drink while making sure the label is toward the camera. Rick nails Vegas in the back and pushes him out of frame. We cut back to Gorilla.
GM: The Bodyguards under the tutelage of Andy Kaufman are looking to soften up the Steiner Brothers before their Southeastern Tag Team Title match at Flair for the Gold. We have to go to our next match, but be sure we’ll keep up with what’s going on in the back.

“Macho Man” Randy Savage with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin vs. “Sweet” Stan Lane with Bobby Eaton
Referee: Aubrey Edwards
Before the match starts, Austin goes after Eaton and chases him to the back. Savage is aggressive on a lockup and takes Lane to the mat early. Stan fights out to his feet. Savage backs him up into the ropes, whips him off and hits him with a back elbow. He drops the knee and covers for two. Savage pulls Lane up, who suckers him with a shot to the throat. Edwards warns him. Lane gets a hip toss and works a chinlock. Savage works up and shoots Lane off into the ropes. Stan tries a crossbody, but Randy ducks and he wipes out. He goes into the ropes and catches Lane as he stands with a hooking clothesline. Scoop slam leads to a knee drop. Savage goes up top. Eaton runs out, jumps on the apron and crotches Savage. Austin runs out, knocks Eaton to the floor and is on top of him with a flurry of punches. Lane pops up top for a superplex, Savage knocks him off, hits the elbow drop and gets the pin. Eaton and Lane run off. Savage points at Austin and Austin points back to symbolize they have each other’s backs.
Winner: Randy Savage by pinfallCommercial
Vs.
Six Man Tag Team Titles Qualifier: Hot Stuff Incorporated (Eddie Gilbert, Wrath and Mortis) vs. Missy’s Men (Austin Idol, Tommy Rich and Jimmy Snuka) with Missy Hyatt
Referee: Tommy Young
Gilbert and Idol start off. Gilbert shoves Idol down and gyrates for Missy, who acts disgusted. He tags Wrath. Gilbert continues to jaw at Missy from the apron and making inappropriate gestures toward her. Snuka has had enough and flies in out of nowhere to take Mortis and Gilbert off the apron. They fight on the floor and Rich joins in. Mortis comes off the top turnbuckle onto the whole pile on the floor. Kane comes out to help his stablemates, but he’s cutoff by the Ultimate Warrior and they fight. Then the Bodyguards and Steiners fight out. Idol is just now recovering in the ring. Gilbert sneaks in with a low blow and rolls Idol up from behind even though he’s not the legal man. Warrior comes in and scares Gilbert. Kane comes in and nails Warrior from behind. Idol tries to help, but is choke lifted. Snuka and Rich chop block Kane to free Idol. Now everyone is in the ring and Tommy Young just throws everything out.
Winner: No contestCommercial
GM: We’ve been told because of the wild fight we saw before the break that Missy’s Men vs. Hot Stuff Incorporated has been declared a no contest and because of that, neither team will advance to the Six-Man Tag Team Title match at Flair for the Gold. It will be Haku, Barbarian and Warlord of the Powers of Fear straight up against Ronnie Garvin and Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers of the Fantastics.
HTM: Missy Hyatt injected herself where she shouldn’t have.
GM: She injected herself? Gilbert was being quite lude to her on the apron. I doubt we’ve seen…
Monsoon is cut off by Dave Bautista, the Southeastern Heavyweight Champion, entering the studio and putting his fist through the desk. Woman is behind him and is trying to calm him down. Monsoon backs up to Honky Tonk Man’s side of the desk.
DB: I win the Southeastern Heavyweight Title at Phoenix Rising and for the last three weeks I’ve been sitting around twiddling my thumbs in the back. I’m the number one man here in Continental Championship Wrestling. Not Randy Savage, not Steve Austin and damn sure not Ric Flair. It’s Dave Bautista!
Bautista overturns the desk Monsoon usually sits at. Yokozuna then lumbers out with Andy Kaufman, still wearing a neck brace. Woman is trying to calm Dave, but to no avail. Monsoon and HTM cut out and Bautista kicks over the other desk.
AK: You will pay for those desks, my friend. Those were good quality desks straight from Sears.
DB: Yeah, what about this wall? Where did it come from?
Bautista shoves a back elbow into the partition with the CCW logo on it that acts as a backdrop to the commentary position. It topples over. AK: That’s it. Get him my Yokozuna.
Yoko trots forward. He blocks a punch from Dave and hits a double throat thrust. Bautista goes down to one knee, but punches Yoko in the gut and starts fighting back. Woman begs for them to stop and Kaufman laughs maniacally as we fade to black.
