CCW Superstar Saturday on SCA, episode 5
The camera pans the Andy Kaufman Studios in Dothan, Alabama, and then comes upon the commentary team of Gorilla Monsoon and the Honky Tonk Man.
GM: Welcome to Superstar Saturday here on Sports Channel America. Continental Championship Wrestling had its first super show of the new era. Champions were crowned and a lot of big matches were decided. Today we’re going to have some championship belt presentations and major announcements concerning our next Super Show on Sept. 5, including its name.
HTM: And we know the main event of that show. It’s going to be our own “Nature Boy” Ric Flair – woo! – going against that scrawny coward AJ Styles for the MUW Men’s Title
GM: I don’t know how you can call AJ Styles a coward. He’s a fighting champion.
HTM: He’s fighting on a battlefield far from home on Sept. 5 at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, Mississippi. That alone will give Ric Flair the advantage.
GM: And speaking of the Nature Boy let’s see him in action right now against Paul Burchill, who got a big win at Phoenix Rising over Adrian Street in a street fight.
vs.
“Nature Boy” Ric Flair vs. Paul Burchill
The match starts with several lockups with each man getting basic holds like headlocks and armbars coming out of them. Burchill starts getting aggressive and Flair begs off the corner after a backbreaker. Paul pushes in and gets nailed in the nuts. Flair had his body turned so the referee couldn’t see it. Flair argues it was a forearm shot to the inner thigh. Ric takes over and works the leg. A kneebreaker sets up the figure four and Burchill taps out.
Winner: Ric FlairFlair goes to the commentary position. He points to Burchill in the ring.
RF: You got the moves, kid. The Nature Boy will give you that and I’ll have my eyes on you. But, right now, all my attention is on AJ Styles and the MUW Men’s Title (Flair stares into the camera and points). I’ve worn it once before and I’ll wear it again. I’m also honored to announce the title of that Super Show on Sept. 5. It’s going to be – Woo! – A Flair for the Gold! That’s a title that has treated me very well in the past. And I’m going to be ready, because when I head to that ring, I’ll be riding the high of Jolt Cola (Flair produces a bottle from underneath the desk). If the wild women and whiskey isn’t keeping the Nature Boy up all night long, it’s Jolt Cola, the official sponsor of Flair for the Gold. It’s all the sugar and twice the caffeine of other colas. And AJ Styles, you’ll receive a jolt when I take that title off of you at Flair for the Gold on Sept. 5 at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, Mississippi. Woo!
Commercial
Ron Fuller is in the ring with three titles on a small pedestal.
RF: It is my honor to make the first two of four title presentations today. This being the Gulf Coast Open Weight and Tag Team championships. I welcome first the winner of the 15-man battle royal to claim the Gulf Coast Open Weight belt, Sheamus.
Sheamus enters the ring in a business suit. He takes the title belt, shakes Fuller’s hand and looks into the camera.
Sheamus: When I first entered Continental Championship Wrestling, I said I would be a serious force to be reckoned with. Maybe I didn’t win the Southeastern Heavyweight Title tournament, but instead of beating four men over a period of weeks, I beat 14 men in one night. And a title belt is only as good as the man wearing it. Now, I’m told he’s not in the building tonight, but I’m making an open challenge to the man who beat me in that title tournament. Sting, I’m going to put my belt up against you at Flair for the Gold if you’re man enough to get in that ring with me again. You got lucky last time, fella, I guarantee you lightning won’t strike twice.
Sheamus exits the ring.
RF: And now it’s my privilege to present the Gulf Coast Tag Team Titles to the Midnight Rockers of Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty.
The Rockers enter in their usual wrestling gear, but wearing Midnight Rockers T-shirts over top.
MJ: First of all, I want to thank Mr. Ron Fuller here and Continental Championship Wrestling for giving us an opportunity and we took advantage of it. Secondly, I want to give a shout out to American Alpha. Those two took a whipping in that ladder match and I’m told they will be out indefinitely. We hate to see that.
SM: But the other two teams in that match with us, Strike Force and Badd Company, we know are banged up, but still hungry like we are. We’d love to face either one again, anytime.
At that, Col. Rob Fuller enters with Badd Company, Pat Tanaka and Paul Diamond. They stay on the floor. Rob has a microphone.
Rob: I’m happy to hear you say that, because we’ll take your first title defense at Flair for the Gold, thank you very much.
Ron: Rob, you’re my brother and all, but you have no right coming out here and interrupting this ceremony.
Rob looks sheepish and tries to stammer out a response, but before he can, Strike Force of Tito Santana and Rick Martel appears. RM: Hey, we deserve that first title defense as much as Badd Company. We were still right there at the end with them. We feel bad about what happened to American Alpha too, but we’re still here and they’re not.
TS: When there are two teams who want the same thing, I always say there is one way to settle it and that’s in the ring.
Ron: I like that thinking, Tito. Next week here on Superstar Saturday, it will be Badd Company vs. Strike Force with the winners facing the Midnight Rockers for the Gulf Coast Tag Team Titles at Flair for the Gold on Sept. 5. Do you have any objections to that, Rob?
Rob just sort of shakes his head no. Pat and Paul talk quietly behind their managers back, obviously about how he seems scared of his brother.

vs.
“Stone Cold” Steve Austin vs. “Sweet” Stan Lane
The two trade arm drags to start. Lane whips Austin into the ropes. He ducks a clothesline and comes back with a Thesz Press and punches. Lane blocks a whip and hits a short arm clothesline followed by a thrust kick. Lane takes over. Austin blocks a suplex and turns it into a Stun Gun. He covers for two. Kick, wham, stun….Eaton runs in for the disqualification and they double team Austin. Randy Savage runs out for the save and drives the heels off. Savage and Austin exchange a cursory nod.
Winner: Steve Austin by disqualificationCommercial
Andy Kaufman is at the commentary position wearing oversized dark glasses and a neck brace. Behind him are Big Bubba Rogers and Vinnie Vegas and just to the side is Yokozuna.
GM: How is the neck from where Sting ‘viciously attacked’ you?
AK: Don’t think I can’t detect your sarcastic tone, Mr. Monsoon. Sting will get what is coming to him at a time he least expects and I hope that he suffers at the hands of Sheamus at Flair for the Gold.
GM: And I understand you have some major announcements for the super show on Sept. 5.
AK: I do. Many might have noted that I was not present at Phoenix Rising and outside of Vinnie Vegas being in the Gulf Coast Title battle royal, my men were not included either. There was a reason for that. In a compromise with my business partner, Ron Fuller, I agreed to let Phoenix Rising happen without my presence and influence. Was I insulted by this? Yes. But I negotiated a greater end goal. At Flair for the Gold my Yokozuna will be facing Dave Bautista for the Southeastern Heavyweight Title and the Bodyguards will be going against the Steiner Brothers for the Southeastern Tag Team Titles.
GM: Jumping the line there aren’t you, Andy?
HTM: That’s Mr. Kaufman to you Monsoon. Kaufman’s Krew deserve all the title shots, if for no other reason than Andy is behind him.
GM: Oh, you can call him Andy, but I can’t.
AK: Mr. Tonk Man and I are on very good terms, Mr. Monsoon. And let me say this, it disgusts me that our top champions here in Continental Championship Wrestling are backed by two women. The Steiners by Missy Hyatt and Bautista by Woman. No woman is on the superior intellectual plain that I am. No woman understands what it takes to guide grapplers to success in the squared circled like I do. And I will prove that as Kaufman’s Krew will claim the titles at Flair for the Gold and be champions that any MAN can be proud of representing them.
Vs.
Kaufman’s Krew (Yokozuna, Big Bubba Rogers and Vinnie Vegas) with Andy Kaufman vs. Big John Studd and the Natural Disasters (Earthquake and Typhoon)
Studd starts out with Vegas. Kaufman goes over to the other corner and hands the Natural Disasters what looks like a thick envelope of money. Earthquake counts it, shows it to Typhoon and they take a walk. Studd is left alone and is worked over by all three of Kaufman’s Krew. A Banzai Drop finishes it. After the match, Rogers and Vegas continue to beat on Studd. He takes two more Banzai Drops and has to be stretchered out. Studd is having a hard time breathing. Monsoon theorizes he could have a collapse lung. HTM says Kaufman is sending a message to the Steiners and Dave Bautista.
Winners: Kaufman's Krew

vs.
“Macho Man” Randy Savage vs. “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton
Eaton toss Savage out of a lock up, but he quickly makes his feet again. Eaton whips Savage into the ropes. He leapfrogs over a backdrop attempt and nails a dropkick as Eaton stands up. Eaton pops up, and Savage drops his throat over the top rope as he drops to the floor. He has a standoff with Lane on the outside. This allows Eaton to chopblock Savage from behind. He rolls him back in the ring and takes over. A slingshot neckbreaker sets up the Alabama Jam. Savage recovers and meets Eaton up top for a superplex. Lane breaks up the pin, but Austin runs in and chases Lane off. Savage hits the elbow drop and wins.
WINNER: Randy Savage by pinfallAustin grabs a microphone and speaks from the floor to Savage in the ring.
SA: I don’t like being beholden to anybody. You saved me earlier, I saved you just now. One would think that makes us even, but it doesn’t. At Phoenix Rising you had more than one opportunity to take me out, but you kept going after Ric Flair instead. I know you hate that sumbitch Flair, but damn it Randy, you’re as loyal as they come. We team one time and you’re like a dog that won’t leave my side. I respect loyalty. So it seems like I owe you at least one more. Let’s say Stone Cold Madness takes one more outing against the Midnight Express. If you’re down with that, give me a hell yeah.
Savage jumps over the ropes to the floor and takes the microphone. RS: How about I just say oh yeah!!!

vs.
Ultimate Warrior in a 2-1 handicap match against Blood Runs Cold (Wrath and Mortis) with Eddie Gilbert
Wrath starts and Warrior mows him down with a series of clotheslines. Tag to Mortis who takes a series of clotheslines. They just decide to double team the Warrior. They hook him up for a double suplex, but he reverses. They go for a double clothesline, but he ducks under and comes off the opposite rope with a flying tackle to knock both men down. He runs the ropes, splashes both men and gets a double pin. Eddie Gilbert gets on the apron, but Warrior stares him down and Gilbert backs off. Warrior goes to the floor, takes a 2-liter of Jolt Cola out from under the ring, chugs it and then runs around the studio high fiving everyone.
Winner: Ultimate Warrior by pinfallCommercial
Ron Fuller is in the ring again with the small pedestal and three new title belts.
RF: For the next of our belt presentations, I’d like to give the Southeastern Tag Titles to the Steiner Brothers and their manager Missy Hyatt.
They enter the ring and Missy takes the microphone. MH: I want to say one thing to Andy Kaufman. You think men are so superior to women, but it’s my guys who have the title belts, your guys want to come for them at Flair for the Gold on Sept. 5, be our guest.
SS: We don’t keep Missy around because she’s just pretty, but it sure helps. She’s smart and she’s guiding our career to new heights. These belts demonstrate that. We’ll face anyone at anytime. That includes the Bodyguards.
They leave the ring.
RF: And now I welcome the new Southeastern Heavyweight Champion, Dave Bautista with Woman.
Woman: I only agree with Missy Hyatt on one thing and one thing only, that is that Andy Kaufman can get bent. The old saying is that behind any good man is a BETTER woman. And I’m THE Woman and I’m behind the Southeastern Heavyweight Champion, the top champion here in CCW. That won’t change after a Flair for the Gold.
Commercial
vs.
Kane with Eddie Gilbert vs. Austin Idol with Missy Hyatt
Kane shoves Idol out of a lock up a couple times. He tries a full body tackle, but Kane just picks Austin up the scruff of the neck and throws him into the near corner. He crushes him with an Avalanche and then chokes him out with a big boot. Missy Hyatt cries for mercy. Gilbert just laughs at her and asks how she likes her big strong man now. Kane brings Idol out of the corner with a running power slam. He covers, but Idol gets a shoulder up. He sets for a choke slam, but Idol elbows out. Kane puts him down with a big boot. Leg drop gets a two count. He lines up the choke slam again, but Idol fights out again. This time Kane just chokes him out and won’t let go, so he gets disqualified. The bell rings like crazy and Kane won’t let go until the Warrior runs back out. He slides in the ring and the two have a stare down as we fade.
Winner: Austin Idol by disqualification
