We start this week’s show inside the Lucha Underground locker room where we find Sammy Guevara opening his locker and getting his ring gear out. Santana and Ortiz come by and congratulate him on getting his big break. Guevara thanks them and says that he can’t believe how lucky he is that in only his second match in Lucha Underground, he’s wrestling in the main event. Before he can say who it is, he sees Chris Jericho come around the corner of bank of lockers. He’s absolutely starstruck and tells Jericho that he is his lucha libre idol. Jericho tells him to “cool it, kid.” Then, he asks Guevara how he ended up in the main event against him.
Guevara tells Jericho that he isn’t his opponent tonight. Santana and Ortiz ask who it is, but Jericho says it doesn’t matter. He says that as Guevara’s idol, the best thing he can do is forfeit his spot in the main event to him so that he can watch and learn from the living legend! Guevara agrees to do it. Jericho thanks him and turns to leave. Guevara asks him if he wants to know who he’ll face tonight. Jericho says it doesn’t matter who it is because he is the best in the world at what he does, and then he leaves. Guevara is unbelievably happy that he met his idol and says to Santana and Ortiz that he wishes he can one day be as confident and as good as Jericho.

LUCHA UNDERGROUND TRIOS CHAMPIONSHIPS MATCH
SUPER FRIENDS vs. THE GODFATHER & HIS STREET PROFITS
Fénix, Aero Star & Drago vs. The Godfather, Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins
Two exciting teams that were both fan favourites squared off in this friendly contest for the Trios Championships. The Believers were enthusiastic supporters of both squads. It was only second time that The Godfather, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins competed together as a team in the Temple and that lack of experience working together may very well have been what gave the defending champions the advantage. Fénix, Aero Star and Drago had considerable experience working together and it showed as they collaborated on many double and triple team maneuvers. The challengers gave them a good run for their money. They nearly won the match after Dawkins and Ford gave Fénix a blockbuster electric chair combo and a pop-up spinebuster and split-legged frog splash combo to Aero Star, and The Godfather gave Drago a Ho Train followed by the Pimp Drop. However, the champions were always able to break up the pin to keep their title reign alive. In the end, The Godfather received a missile dropkick from Drago, followed by a meteora from Fénix, which was then followed by an imploding 450-splash from Aero Star. The combination of these three high flying maneuvers kept him down for the 3-count.
WINNERS : The Super Friends

Mascarita Sagrada vs. Matanza Cueto
Mascarita Sagrada vs. Matanza Cueto
Mascarita Sagrada’s first match of the season did not go as planned. When he got to the ring, Antonio Cueto exited his office and announced that the card had to be changed because the mini-estrella’s opponent, Son of Havoc, has not been seen since his last match. Therefore, he would now be facing his son, Matanza Cueto.
The match didn’t last long. Mascarita Sagrada tried to attack Matanza with a hit-and-run style of offense, but he was eventually felled by a running big boot. After that, Matanza picked him up and gave him the Wrath of the Gods! 1-2-3! It was over.
After Matanza’s win, Antonio Cueto announced that it was time to make another “sacrifice to the gods!” Matanza put the Gauntlet of the Gods on his right hand, then, he lifted it high into the air and drove it down into Mascarita Sagrada’s chest. At the moment of impact, the lights in the Temple went out. Moments later, they came back on and Matanza was standing alone in the ring. Mascarita Sagrada was nowhere to be found.
WINNER : Matanza Cueto

Rhea Ripley vs. Rosemary
Rhea Ripley vs. Rosemary
This was a contest between two luchadoras that rely on their power to do damage to their opponents. In this case, neither had a clear power advantage. They hit each other with a variety of slams and suplexes. Rosemary gave Ripley a pair of exploder suplexes before executing a spear on her. However, that wasn’t enough to put Ripley away. Rosemary attempted a coast-to-coast front missile dropkick, but Ripley got out of the corner to avoid it. She then gave Rosemary a few norther lights suplexes followed by a delayed vertical suplex and then a full nelson slam. However, that wasn’t enough to put Rosemary away. Rosemary also tried to submit Ripley with a sharpshooter, but Ripley powered her way into a push-up and crawled to the ropes to force a break. The turning point came moments later when Rosemary went to the top rope and attempted a a diving crossbody. Ripley saw it coming and gave her a devastating dropkick as she was in mid-dive. After that, Ripley delivered a hard big boot that nearly took Rosemary’s head off. Then, she executed Rip-Tide and covered Rosemary for the win.
WINNER : Rhea Ripley

Melissa Santos announced the entrance of Sammy Guevara as the first luchador in tonight’s main event. Sammy Guevara came down to the ring in jeans and a t-shirt. He wasn’t prepared to compete. He got in the ring and told Santos that there had been a change of plans. He said he wouldn’t be competing tonight because he gave up his spot in the main event to his childhood idol – Chris Jericho!
Jericho entered the Temple, and as he did, Guevara grabbed an extra folding chair, a bottle of water and a large bag of popcorn from under the ring. He took a spot at the end of the front row at ringside where he intended to watch the match. While Jericho took off his jacket, Guevara led some of the Believers in a Jericho chant. Once it died down, Melissa Santos announced the name of Jericho’s opponent and the smug look of confidence on his face immediately sank as the Believers erupted into a frenzy!

Samoa Joe vs. Chris Jericho
Samoa Joe vs. Chris Jericho
Joe coming to the ring was the last thing Jericho wanted. Both luchadores were as fresh as can be, neither of them having competed yet this season. Consequently, they started out by chain wrestling. Joe tended to always be ready for what Jericho had, countering Jericho’s holds quicker than Jericho could counter his, and holding them longer than Jericho could. This continued unabated until Jericho raked Joe’s eyes and stunned him with a step-up enzuigiri kick. He sent Joe into the corner and charged in but was thrown down with a St. Joe urinage slam!
Jericho left the ring after kicking out of the pinfall. He was trying to buy himself a moment of respite, but Joe followed him outside. They brawled on the floor. Jericho got the worst of it when he was given a Samoan drop onto the floor in front of where Guevara was seated. After leaning Jericho against the ring apron and facewashing him with his forearm, Joe lit into him with some chops and tossed him into the ring. Guevara got into his face about the facewashing. Joe laughed it off and asked him who he was before turning to climb onto the ring apron, where he was knocked back off with a corner-springboard dropkick by Jericho, who then executed a tope suicida through the ropes to knock Joe down.
Jericho spent the next while beating down Joe by ramming his head into the turnbuckle post and whipping into the ringside seats. He continued with a slow and methodical pace once he returned Joe to the ring, and giving him several of his signature moves, culminating in a one-handed running bulldog takedown followed by a lionsault that got him a 2-count. Jericho focused his attack on Joe’s lower-back and legs so that he could try to apply the Walls of Jericho but Joe simply would not be turned over. Jericho went to the top turnbuckle but his missile dropkick attempt missed. Joe immediately delivered a chop to the back of his neck, then a punt kick to the chest and a jumping knee drop to the forehead.
Joe took charge and ran through his arsenal of power moves, including a snap scoop powerslam, snap suplex, sidewalk slam, and a snap dragon suplex. However, none of his pinfall attempts secured the win. After cornering Jericho, he again lit into him with chops, a pair of head butts, and then a CCS enzuigiri kick. When Jericho fell to the mat, Guevara pulled him to the outside of the ring. This happened just before Joe could get his hands on him again. Guevara was checking on his idol. Joe, who was fuming, ran across the ring and back to deliver a topé suicida. Guevara saw it coming at the last moment and moved Jericho out of the way, taking the full brunt of the impact. When Joe got up, Jericho was waiting and nailed him with a chair to the back and then placed it in front of his knees to give Joe a codebreaker with the chair.
Jericho returned Joe to the ring and pinned him. 1…2… shoulder up! Jericho expressed his frustrations with the referee. Then, he got a table and brought it into the ring. After punching away at Joe, he put him on the table and then went to the top rope. He went for a diving double axehandle, but Joe moved out of the way and put him in the Coquina Clutch! Jericho didn’t submit but he faded out. As the referee was checking to see if he was conscious, Guevara broke it up with a chair shot to Joe’s back. Guevara went out to the apron and climbed the turnbuckle. Joe recovered just in time to bounce into the ropes, crotching Guevara on the top turnbuckle. Joe picked up his unconscious opponent and placed him on the table, then he grabbed Guevara and drop him into Jericho and through the table with a Muscle Buster. He stacked up Jericho and his young worshiper and pinned them both to win in decisive fashion.
After the match, Joe took the house mic and told the Believers that he has a message to deliver to AJ Styles. Joe has his sights set on the Mash-Up Wrestling Men’s World Championship, and the next time Styles steps foot inside the Temple, he’s taking it from him.
WINNER : Samoa Joe

Antonio Cueto escorts his son, Matanza, back to the dungeon cell where he is kept locked up except for when he competes in a lucha match. Antonio compliments him and tells him that he knows that the lord is very pleased with the sacrifices they’ve made thus far. Then, he tells him to have a good night before saying that he’ll be back to see him tomorrow.
After Antonio walks out, Matanza sees a small beam of light in the corner of the cell. He walks over and picks up the object as the light goes out. It is a smart phone. He examines it and presses on a button that brings the light back. The screen shows a button and the words slide to the left to unlock. He contemplates the object for a moment before attempting it. He succeeds and then…
We’re really glad that your our friend and this is a friendship that will never, ever end.
The door opens, and into the Firefly Funhouse walks Bray Wyatt. He speaks directly to Matanza, telling him that Firefly Funhouse is a special safe space where Bray can come to feel free and protected instead of caged and alone. He tells Matanza that he and his friends – Mercy the Buzzard, Ramblin’ Rabbit and Huskus the Pig Boy – have talked it over and they agree that Matanza needs a special safe space of his own because the one he has now is dark and depressing and it has no friends. Wyatt tells him that he knows how Matanza can learn the secret to finding Matanza’s special safe space. He says that he’ll light the way for him, all he has to do is “let me in.”
