AEW Dynamite
August 29, 2019
Live from the Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Alabama
AEW Dynamite opens up to an impressive pyro display on the stage and above the ring. We pan to a shot of the live crowd holding various signs like “Burke Sucks” and “Down With The Kult.” We head ringside to Don Callis and Kevin Kelly who begin to recap Fyter Fest and give us a rundown of some things to expect for tonight’s show.
Our first segment of the evening is a video package of the AEW World Champion, Killer Kross. We see various highlights of Kross in action, as well as footage of him defeating Kenny Omega at Fyter Fest. The narrator states that Kross is the most dominant force in the history of professional wrestling. The narrator warns us that this is just the beginning of the reign of Kross, and that the Kross Kult will effectively take over AEW from the inside out. The chilling video package ends abruptly with white static. We then go to the ring for our first match of the evening.
Match 1
Mike Kanellis w/ Maria v. Drew McIntyre
Despite best efforts from Mike Kanellis, he wasn’t able to get any notable offense in on “The Scottish Psychopath” Drew McIntyre. The intensity of McIntyre was at a level unseen before in AEW as McIntyre systematically dissected the man known as the Miracle. A miracle is exactly what Kanellis would’ve needed to defeat a very game McIntyre, who easily put Kanellis away with a huge double-arm DDT.
Winner: Drew McIntyre by pinfall
After the match, McIntyre grabs a microphone and begins running down Logan Shulo. McIntyre says that Shulo is nothing but a joke and that he doesn’t take anything seriously. He says that Logan walks around with his head in the clouds and it’s about time that someone brings him back to reality. McIntyre challenges Shulo to a match in the future, and says he looks forward to hearing his response.
The AEW World Tag Team Champions, The Good Brothers, are standing backstage. They mention how Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus were tough opponents at Fyter Fest, but just like always, the Good Brothers know how to get the job done. They say that the AEW tag titles belong around their waists and that’s where they will remain for a long time. They do a “too sweet” to conclude the segment.
Match 2
“The Villain” Marty Scurll v. “The Premier Athlete” Tony Nese
An excellent old school match was presented by these two wrestlers. A lot of chain wrestling and submission work was put on display by these two impressive wrestlers. At the midpoint of the match, Nese was able to get Scurll in his own version of the Crossface Chickenwing which caused the fans to boo Nese. Scurll was able to wiggle out of the submission hold and counter with a Crossface Chickenwing of his own, causing Nese to tap out.
Winner: “The Villain” Marty Scurll by submission
After the match, Joey Ryan looks on from the stage, enjoying a lollipop. Scurll looks at Ryan and screams “leave me alone!” Ryan simply smirks before turning around and leaving, seemingly enjoying his torturous behavior towards Scurll.
We go backstage where the NEW AEW National Champion, “The Pope” Elijah Burke, is standing. With a cocky grin, Burke states that he put the Machine out of commission and now it’s on to bigger and better things. Pope mentions how he partied so hard after Fyter Fest that he won’t be competing tonight. Then, two very attractive women walk up to the Pope and grab on to each of his arms. He says that’s his cue, and walks off.

Match 3
“The Machine” Brian Cage v. Nick Aldis
Hoping to rebuild momentum after losing the National Championship, Brian Cage is ready to face off against the debuting “Culmination of Class” Nick Aldis. An aggressive Cage immediately jumps the gate and starts using his power to his advantage, but it’s Aldis with an impressive drop toe hold that shifts the entire momentum of the match. Aldis begins working over Cage with various submission holds, trying to wear him down, much to the disdain of the crowd. The terminator clap is heard throughout the arena from the fans who are rallying behind Cage. Cage started to make a big comeback hitting his signature Gorilla Press Slam for a near fall. As Cage started to try to put Aldis away, but Aldis swiftly breaks out of Cage’s grip and hits the Michinoku Driver for the huge debut victory! Tough loss for Cage...
Winner: Nick Aldis by pinfall
We see none other than TOMMASO CIAMPA in an on-screen segment! Ciampa puts the locker room on notice that he’s coming to AEW. He states that there are very few wrestlers in the world who can match his level of talent. He says that he is among the elite in wrestling, and he can’t wait to show up and prove it.
Match 4
Ronda Rousey v. Jordynne Grace
The intense and aggressive Ronda Rousey loosens up in the corner as the powerful Jordynne Grace stands ready for the battle. At the sound of the bell, both women wasted no time by approaching the other and beginning to try to get the advantage. Ronda Rousey relied, arguably too much, on her MMA style which led Grace to being able to use her power advantage to throw Rousey around the ring. This fired up Rousey who got in a great clean shot straight to the jaw of Grace. After some more back and forth wrestling, it was Jordynne Grace who was able to hit a huge Fall From Grace on Rousey for the victory.
Winner: Jordynne Grace by pinfall

We go backstage to where the AEW Dynamite General Manager, Mark Henry, is standing. Henry looks excited to bring his big announcement to Dynamite. He says that AEW has seen an influx of several different teams form over the last several months, with a good number of them being six man tags. Henry says it only makes sense if he brings these tag teams a brand new opportunity to prove themselves. Therefore, Henry declares that coming soon to AEW….the AEW Six Man Tag Team Championships! The crowd pops as Henry nods in approval. We go to our next segment.
Match 5
“Hangman” Adam Page v. Alberto Del Rio
This match was difficult for Hangman to compete in fresh off of a brutal steel cage match with Jay White. The forehead of Page is taped up, but this didn’t prevent him from bringing his A game against Del Rio. A great action-packed match was delivered by these two competitors. We saw Del Rio hit his signature moves including the corner stomp, running knees, and even a “Three Amigos” sequence of suplexes. This wasn’t enough to topple the young and hungry Hangman, who was able to hit several of his own signature moves followed by the Hangman’s Lariat to knock off Del Rio.
Winner: “Hangman” Adam Page by pinfall

“The Icon” Sting appears on the stage to a HUGE ovation from the live audience! Sting makes his way to the ring with a look of hesitation and almost despair on his face. He grabs a microphone and stands in the ring as his music dies down. “Sting, Sting, Sting!” chants break out in the arena. The Icon shows his humble side as he motions for the crowd to settle down.
“Guys, I really appreciate it, but I’m here for an extremely serious reason that I feel compelled to share with all of you here tonight. People have been wondering why I attacked Kross at the end of the match. Most have assumed that I am making my big comeback into the main event scene. This thing we call pro wrestling is not about the Stinger anymore. My time in the main event has passed.”
The crowd seems confused by Sting’s words. He continues speaking.
“Me and Kross were supposed to have a match a few months ago, and for reasons unknown to you guys, I was unable to show up for that match. I’ve been doing this thing for thirty four years and I have never no-showed a match. You see, as I was heading to the arena for my match with Kross, I was attacked.”
Sting starts biting his lip as he starts to rethink sharing this information with the crowd. Being a professional, he continues on.
“The driver stopped the car. He turned around and placed a rag over my face until I was incapacitated. As I felt myself fading, I heard the words that I can only identify with one other person in this company...those words were ‘goodbye, and goodnight, bang.”
The crowd is stunned - silent.
“So I’m here tonight to let you all know that the reason I didn’t show up to that match several months ago was because of Kenny Omega. I’m not sure of his motivations, but I think it’s not hard for us to figure out. Which leads me to this - if all this happened, why did I withhold the information? Well, you see, this whole thing we call wrestling has always served a purpose in being able to find your hero. To be able to look up to someone, to rally behind a good guy. I used to be that hero. I used to be the one people would buy tickets to see. I used to be the reason that you are filled arenas every night, for decades. DECADES! And I saw Kenny as that guy. Kenny was the guy you would buy the tickets to see, he was your hero, so I kept my mouth SHUT. I understand that the reason you all follow professional wrestling is because you want to believe in something, someone, greater than yourselves. But I have to admit that Kenny is NOT that person!”
A few fans in attendance boo while the majority of fans sit in silence.
“So, there it is. I shouldn't be shocked, but I am. This business has always been full of snakes and two-faced people. I just really wouldn't have expected it from Kenny Omega. So now, I'm going to go back to where I came from. I'm sorry that I had to tell you guys this, but after sitting with this for months, I realized I had no choice. I wish AEW the best of luck, I really do. Thank you all very much.”
And with that, Sting drops the microphone as his music hits the PA system once again. The crowd is stunned at the accusations Sting has made against Kenny Omega. AEW Dynamite goes off the air with a huge bombshell being dropped. This leaves us wondering - will Kenny Omega respond to Sting’s accusations? Until next week...
