NWA Championship Wrestling Aug 3 Saturday TV Taping
The announcing team of Gordon Solie & Bob Caudle are standing in front of the huge NWA Logo before they welcome the fans the new episode of NWA Championship Wrestling. Gordon says without further delay, he brings out the NWA Commissioner Jim Barnett to address the television audience.
Barnett tells the fans that this is professional wrestling - not sports entertainment. The NWA strives to put on the finest in ring competition whether it be single matches, tag team matches, women's matches and others. One of the biggest complaints we have heard from fans is the lack of rules enforcement. As of now, we expect the rules to be followed & they will be enforced by our referees. This is where we have added some new rules. First, no wrestler may make contact with an official once the match has started. Whether the contact is deliberate or unintentional, it will result in a $500 fine to be paid within 24 hours of the infraction. Failure to pay the fine will result in automatic suspension & their purse held up until it is paid. Second, all managers, valets or appointed NWA seconds (in special instances), must be licensed. In the event a wrestler has a manager or valet, the opponent may select a second of their own with approval of referee working the match. Barnett adds that they expect these rules to be followed by the wrestlers. Barnett again thanks the fans for tuning in & hope they enjoy the matches.
Solie thanks Commissioner Barnett then tells the fans they have two special guests on today's show. The MUW World's Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and the Women's World's Champion Asuka. They will be making an appearance during the hour.
Working as ring announcer today is wrestler/tv personality Matt Riveria.
Match 1. Single Match. Danny Hodge went to a 10-minute time limit draw with Bob Backlund. Scientific match that didn't disappoint the fans, even though there was not a winner. Lots of mat wrestling & counter wrestling between two great wrestlers. (During the match, MUW World's Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins joins them to added commentary on the match.)
Commercial break includes an interview with manager 'Playboy' Gary Hart with Kaz Hayashi, Hart talks about the greatness of Hayashi & how he is going to be the new NWA World's Junior Heavyweight Champion
Match 2. 4 Man Tag Team Match. The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) over the Tennesse Volunteerz (Reno Riggins & Steven Dunn). (8:41). A double dropkick on Steven set him up for the Fulton pin. The Fantastics utilized their speed & quick tagging to advoid the physical advantage held by the Volz.
Before going to commercial break, Gordon & Bob are joined at the desk by 'Cowboy' Bill Watts to talk about the NWA & going after the vacant NWA World's Heavyweight Championship.
Commercial break includes interview with 'Bruiser' Brody
Match 3. Ladies Single Match. MsChif pinned Liv Morgan following the desecrator. (7:02). Quite a contrast with the gothic green-black clad MsChif to the blonde Harley Quinn dressed Morgan. McChif kept the match at a slower pace with mat wrestling to keep Liv from turning the pace up with her high-flying maneuvers.
After the match, Gordon & Bob are joined by MUW Women's Champion Asuka who is assisted by a translator. Asuka explains she looks forward to coming to defend her title in the NWA. Fans can expect nothing better than excellence when she steps into the ring.
Commercial break includes interview with Stan 'Lariat' Hansen
Match 4. 4 Man Tag Team Match. The Masked Infernos w/mgr. Col. JC Dykes beat the Party Boys (Davey & Johnny Rich). (6:32). Inferno 1# used the loaded boot on Davey to get the pin. The Infernos took the match immediately to the Party Boys, working on Davey for most of the match before making the pin.
Commercial break includes interview with the Beautiful People (Angelina Love, Madison Rayne & Velvet Sky)
Match 5. Single Match. 'The Franchise' Shane Douglas beat 'Nature Boy' Buddy Landell with the belly-to-back suplex. (8:31). Landell wore a robe like Ric Flair that set Douglas off immediately. Buddy dominated early on, taking short cuts when necessary. Shane came back the final 3 minutes to take control for the win.
Commercial break includes interview with Wahoo McDaniel
Before signing off, Solie & Caudle are joined by the legendary Minnesota Wrecking Crew - the Anderson Brothers (Gene, Lars & Ole). After running down the tag team competition in the NWA, they brag winning the NWA World Tag Team Belts is going to be a piece of cake.
Gordon & Bob run down the action on today's show then tell the fans to tune in next week for more NWA Championship Wrestling.
