I have to admit that I haven't been keeping up with a lot of the action in MUW over the past two months. It's been hard considering how pressed for time I have been and that sudden boom in shows. For that reason, I haven't seen any of the build up to Aftershock. I decided that instead of going back to view the weekly shows since Endgame, I would pick up where I left off with my GWA viewing with this show.
For starters, I must say that the pre-show was pretty good. Between the Velveteen Dream defeating Lars Sullivan and a multi-man hardcore match that was a throwback to the WWF Attitude era, you brought the goods. AJ Lee, Velveteen Dream, and Tommy Dreamer picking up wins are all smart booking decisions.
Aftershock starts with s fun multi-man match. Adding Finn Balor into the match was a nice surprise for those in attendance. His win is a good way to get people to look forward to next month's Elimination Chamber.
I'm surprised to see Candice Larae getting a big spot on the ppv. Good for her. Unfortunately for her, there really wasn't any doubt who would be winning this one. THE MAN is just too hot at the moment!
That was a good title defense by Sami Zayn. A match between he and Jay Lethal would be really good.
There's a new United States Champion, but it took an entire era to pry it from the hands of Aleistar Black. Good match.
The Tag Title match doesn't really interest me. Maybe that would be different if I had seen the build up for it. However, without it, I'm not all that interested as Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler don't do it for me. I'm happy that they didn't win.
Next up, Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair is a great rematch for the MUW Women's Championship. Asuka retained the title in the best match of the night so far, and she cements her spot at the top of the women's wrestling mountain.
CM Punk vs. Shinsuke Nakamura was better than I expected. Punk winning is the right decision. Giving him a spot in the Elimination Chamber alongside Finn Balor is already building a lot of anticipation for that match.
And the main event steals the show! Styles vs. Moxley in a fantastic match! Styles getting the win ought to mean that he's defending his title in the Elimination Chamber against Finn Balor and CM Punk. Having those three as half the participants is already making me feel excited for the Elimination Chamber.
As always, GWA knows how to deliver the goods on their biggest cards. This was no exception. It was a fun show all around!
