MUW: WCW Press release- 4/10/2019
From: Mr. Paul Nitro- Owner and President of WCW
I would like to begin by stating that these last couple of weeks have been exciting for myself and the new crew of WCW. Several weeks ago, I came to the decision that I have accomplished all I could do with the WWE and was approached by the previous owner of WCW to purchase WWE in exchange for WCW. I agreed to this deal, because it would give me the opportunity to start a new brand in another part of the country. I wish the new owner the best of luck in the world with the new WWE. Also, I would like to add that Jack Tunney will stay aboard with the WWE at this time and we wish him the best of luck in the near future. With that being said, I have been in the planning stages of the new WCW and ven though these plans are not finalized at this time, I can make these announcements:
1. I have negotiated several with several major television stations, as well as Superstation WTBS to bring our two shows for the new WCW. I feel that the Nitro and Thunder brand will not fit our new era and so from here on in, the two shows will be WCW Worldwide Wrestling(syndicated show for the television stations for 1 hr. of wrestling action) and World Wide Championship Wrestling(which will be a 90 minute show for WTBS). Worldwide will be seen every Saturday afternoon on your local stations that will be carry on your local stations and we will have our first episode on May 3rd. As far as World Wide Championship Wrestling, the first episode will be seen also on May 3rd at 6:05 on WTBS. These shows will air every Saturday.
2. As far as live events goes, I am currently negotiationg with several states to host the WCW events and we will reveal the dates for the live shows on May 3rd on Worldwide for the first full week of live events.
3. Finally, as far as the championships goes, I am declaring them vacant as of today and we will have tournaments to crown new champions for this new era. More details will follow later this month.
Once again, thank you for your time and we will see you May 3rd for the new era of World Championship Wrestling!
