AEW Dynamite
4/10/2019
Live from the Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL
The scene opens with an absolutely electric crowd standing on its feet. The camera pans around the sold out Allstate Arena as the fans show their excitement for the first ever episode of AEW’s Dynamite, as a huge pyro display shoots off on the stage and above the ring.
“WWWWELCOME to All Elite Wrestling’s first ever edition of Dynamite!!”
AEW CEO Tony Khan appears on the stage as the crowd cheers. The pyro stops and the music fades out. Chants of "AEW! AEW! AEW! AEW!" fill the arena! Tony Khan smiles widely and nods his head. He applauds the fans who are just as excited as he is for the first ever episode of AEW Dynamite.
“First and foremost, thank you all so very much for coming out for AEW’s first televised show, Dynamite! We’ve been touring across the country for several months now and I can honestly say that our roster is one of the best - one of the most elite rosters - in the entire world!”
AEW chants begin to fill the arena once again as Tony looks around the arena with a prideful smile.
“Which leads us to this point. Our first televised episode of Dynamite. But you guys didn’t come here to hear me talk. Our elite athletes have spent the last several months positioning themselves, earning wins, losses, and opportunities during our tour which leads us to our first match of the night. Buckle up and get ready for the journey of a lifetime - this is All Elite Wrestling! Now let’s crown the first ever AEW National Champion, shall we?”
The fans cheer in anticipation of the opening contest to crown the first ever AEW National Champion. Tony heads to the back and we head to the ring for the opening bout.
Match 1
Brian Cage v Carlito v MJF v Umaga
AEW National Championship
Brian Cage v Carlito v MJF v Umaga
AEW National Championship
Maxwell Jacob Friedman, aka MJF, is out first to a chorus of boos. The entitled trust fund kid makes his way to the ring ignoring the jeers from the crowd with a painted on smug facial expression. Umaga is out next to a mixed reaction. He darts to the ring in primal fashion, ready to maul his opponents. After that, Carlito, apple-in-hand, steps out onto the stage to a big ovation from the crowd. The Master of Cool struts down the ramp, motioning his hands around his waist to indicate that he’s going to become the first National Champion. Out last is “The Machine” Brian Cage who poses on the stage, as a big pyro display explodes. Cage makes his way to the ring to a chorus of cheers as he slaps the hands of the crowd along the way.
This match doesn’t take long to turn into an all out brawl. Cage shows off his impressive strength by hitting a number of power moves on Umaga including a powerslam and a gorilla press slam! On the other side of the ring, Carlito works over MJF in the corner with numerous chops and elbows. Suddenly, Umaga Irish whip’s Cage into Carlito, crushing both Carlito and MJF in the corner! Umaga, Carlito, and MJF fall to the mat. Brian Cage goes for a moonsault on MJF, but MJF moves! MJF covers, 1...2...Umaga breaks up the pin. Carlito rushes over and dropkicks Umaga in the back, knocking him to the outside. While Carlito and Umaga fight on the outside, MJF rolls up Cage, but Cage reverses the pin! 1...2….3! Brian Cage wins the AEW National Championship at 15:44.
The camera cuts backstage where the World’s Greatest Tag Team, Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin are standing. They look cool, calm, and collected. Haas begins to speak:
“The day has finally come! You guys didn’t really think you could have All Elite Wrestling without the most elite team in history, did you? I mean, come on. We are the World’s Greatest Tag Team!”
“That’s right Charlie, we ARE the most elite tag team to ever step foot in the ring. See, we’re more than just a catch phrase. We’re more than a logo on a t-shirt. We are true, gifted athletes that outmaneuver, outsmart, and outwrestle anyone we face. A little birdie told me earlier that within the next few weeks, the first ever All Elite Wrestling tag team champions will be decided. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the World’s Greatest Tag Team will be the ones to capture those titles.”
“You’ve all been put on notice. Shelton and I will dominate - and win - those tag team championships, because we are the GREATEST...tag team in the world.”
Charlie and Shelton high five each other before the camera fades to commercial.

Match 2
The Fabulous Freebirds (Hayes and Gordy) v Young Bucks
The Fabulous Freebirds (Hayes and Gordy) v Young Bucks
The Fabulous Freebirds are out first to boo’s from the audience. They are unaffected as they make their way to the ring only as the Freebirds can. Out next is the Young Bucks to a HUGE ovation from the crowd! The Bucks walk down the ramp as a magnificent pyro display lights up the Allstate Arena. The Bucks rush the ring and we’re off to a quick start. Nick Jackson clotheslines Gordy out of the ring but falls over the top himself. Matt Jackson and Michael Hayes are in the ring as the bell finally sounds. Hayes tries to mount some offense but is quickly caught by a SUPERKICK from Jackson! Hayes instantly falls to the mat. Matt rushes to get Hayes back up, lifts him up...and out of nowhere, Nick Jackson comes flying off the top rope...MELTZER DRIVER CONNECTS! Matt covers 1...2...3! The Bucks make quick work of the Fabulous Freebirds at 3:02.
We go backstage once more to a dark-lit area. There is an eerie red spotlight shining upon a man wearing a red suit. He turns around and we are met with the sinister yet familiar face of none other than the devilish “Father” James Mitchell.
“Once upon a time, there was a little boy who was unwanted and unloved. As a result, the boy became ruthless. Despite his angry tendencies, the little boy always tried his best to assimilate into normal childlike behavior and, yet, was always unable to do so. You see, this boy was...different. This boy could never relate to other children. Was it because of his family of origin? Was it because he didn’t know what it meant to have someone who cared about him? Or was it because he enjoyed allowing himself to be consumed by his fleshly desires and his innate need for chaos and disorder? Hmph. Well ladies and gentlemen, in any event, that was years ago, and not much has changed except that he’s finally found a friend...a friend who can relate to him, a friend he can share things with, a friend that is no ordinary man - if human at all. Only time will tell when - or even if - they decide to mount a glorious rebellion and extract the very lifeblood out of this company! Rest assured, if they do...not even the devil himself could stop them.”
Mitchell begins laughing maniacally as the red spotlight begins to flicker. After several seconds of spine-chilling cackling, the scene fades to black.

She gets in the ring and his her signature pose much to the disdain of the crowd. Out next is Gail Kim who energetically plays up to the crowd. Both women are in the ring and the bell sounds. We get a classic lock up followed by some impressive chain wrestling until Tessa uses her power advantage to gain the advantage on Gail. After several forearms, Gail Kim blocks and begins to mount some offense of her own. Gail gets Tessa to the mat, hits the top rope, and executes a beautiful dropkick! After a failed pinfall attempt, Gail brings Tessa to her feet and sends her into the corner. Gail runs into the corner attempting the clothesline, but Tessa gets her boot up. After several high impact moves, Gail sees an opening and attempts Eat Defeat, but Tessa reverses it into a huge Hammerlock DDT known affectionately as the “Buzzsaw.” Tessa hooks the leg and 1...2...3. Tessa gets a huge win at 9:27.
After the match, “The Glamazon” Beth Phoenix is shown walking out to the stage. As the ref is raising Tessa’s hand in victory, Beth looks on, seemingly unimpressed. Tessa points at Beth and does some trash talking for a few moments as Kevin Kelly and Don Callis review the bad blood that has brewed between Beth and Tessa during the previous AEW tour. We go to commercial break.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
We come back to a screen full of static until the words “OHIO...VERSUS...EVERYTHING” pop up on the screen. The vignette cuts from the static to show a series of distorted clips of car accidents, houses burning, and other destructive images. The screen returns to static, followed by “COMING SOON” in jagged edged lettering.
Match 4
Alberto Del Rio v Matt Riddle
Alberto Del Rio v Matt Riddle
The camera cuts back to the stage. The arena dims as yellow lights begin flashing, as Alberto Del Rio appears on the stage. With a cocky smile and his signature towel draped over his neck, Alberto makes his way to the ring and the fans aren’t pleased about it. Next out is Matt Riddle who takes the time to slap hands with the fans along the way to the ring. Del Rio trash talks Riddle in the ring and then the bell sounds. Riddle moves in to lock up, but Del Rio backs up, sizing Riddle up. The two finally lock up and Riddle gets the quick arm drag on Del Rio, followed up with a quick running knee to the side of the head. The quick pinfall attempt fails, but leads to a vicious exchange kicks and forearms from each competitor. Riddle gets the upperhand for the majority of the match, delivering a furious offensive attack to Del Rio. While Riddle attempts a roundhouse kick, Del Rio ducks and Riddle inadvertently strikes the ref! Riddle looks on shocked, only to turn around and be met with a kick to the groin. Riddle drops to the mat as Del Rio takes advantage of the situation and goes for the pin, the ref counts slowly...1….2….3. That’s it! At 8:52, Del Rio is declared the winner. The fans are furious about the situation, but Del Rio rolls out of the ring proud of himself as Riddle looks on frustrated, and in pain.
Kevin Kelly and Don Callis recap the events that have taken place on AEW’s first ever episode of Dynamite. The crowd is still buzzing from the last match that took place. Suddenly, we are interrupted by the familiar tune of “Kingdom” by Downstait and the fans become absolutely unglued!
“The American Nightmare” Cody stands on the stage soaking in the cheers from the crowd. He makes his way into the ring and grabs a microphone. Chants of “Cody” fill the arena. He smiles.
“I wanted to come out here earlier and address you guys, but I had some business to take care of first. You see, the AEW World Championship is vacant - but not for long. During AEW’s tour that’s taken place over the last few months, the cards were drawn and I think I’ve got a pretty good hand. You see---”
Suddenly, out of nowhere, the arena darkens as a slow, murky heavy metal riff begins to play throughout the arena. The fans look up to the stage, only to be shocked that….
“The Herald of Doomsday” has arrived. IT’S KILLER KROSS!
The 6’4”, 260 pound Kross makes a beeline for the ring. Cody and Killer Kross begin pummeling each other but the strength of Kross is too much for Cody to handle as Kross delivers a vicious chokeslam. Kross rolls out of the ring and grabs a chair. He rolls back in, wraps the chair around Cody’s throat, and STOMPS on the chair crushing the larynx of Cody. The boos are raining down in the arena as Kross looks down at a fallen Cody, who has blood beginning to spill out of the corner of his mouth. Proud of himself, Kross reaches into his pocket…

And drops the “X” symbol across the lifeless body of Cody. Kross grabs the mic but the fans make it difficult for him to speak due to chorus of boos.
“Cody, Cody Cody. Let’s not jump to conclusions. If there’s anything that you need to learn, it is this: not everything is as it appears. Life is full of disappointment, heartbreak...and mayhem. Let's face it, if this company is truly for the most elite, then you have no business out here. You couldn't cut it where you were before but what goes around comes around. Oh, and Cody, in MY reality, after drawing the cards, well...it seems to me that you don’t have such a good hand after all.”
Kross laughs hysterically as he drops the mic. Kevin Kelly and Don Callis discuss the ramifications of The Tollman’s actions while medical personnel fill the ring, and also make note that Cody was supposed to be competing in the first ever main event on AEW Dynamite until Killer Kross sabotaged the show. The arena looks on in shock and awe with a sense of panic for Cody, never expecting Killer Kross to make his presence felt in this way. Cody is grasping his throat on the verge of unconsciousness as medical personnel begin to place him on a stretcher. The AEW logo flashes on the bottom left hand of the screen, as the scene slowly fades to black while Kross stands on the stage with his arms raised, and a look of satisfaction across his face.
