The show begins in a dark room with prison cell bars. It is room that houses Matanza Cueto. He appears lifeless, laying out on the cement floor. The sound of key turning signals that the cell door is being opened. A pair of expensive shoes are seen in the shot. Then, a hand comes down and graces the side of Matanza’s masked face. Then, Dario Cueto’s voice is heard. He speaks to his brother telling him that he has broken his promise to protect him from harm. He says that he feels a great shame and is reminded of when they were children and he used suffer horrendous beatings to protect Matanza from their mother, but then one day he failed to keep that evil bitch from hurting him. He remembers the promise he made never to let that happen again. He vowed never to let Matanza down, but he has, and he lays all the blame on Kurt Angle. Because of him, here now lies his baby brother with a snapped ankle, unable to stand and unable to fight. He tells Matanza that Kurt Angle has crossed a line and that he will not rest until Angle suffers for what he has done to him. Finally, he tells Matanza that he must remember that no one who harms him deserves to live and that once he has healed, he knows what he must do.

Prince Puma defeated Paul London by pinfall to move onto the quarterfinals. This exciting opener say both men take high risks and fly around the ring with wild abandon. The Believers were whipped into a frenzy at the sight of both luchadores landing their aerial attacks. However, when it came to finishing the match, neither one had success with their signature moves. Prince Puma attempted his 630-degree senton but landed on London’s knees. Later, London attempted Going Down the Rabbit Hole (shooting star press) but hit the canvas as Puma moved out of the way. After that, Puma won the match with a sitout scoop slam piledriver.

Ultimate Warrior defeated Fénix by pinfall to move onto the third round of the tournament. The Believers were mostly cheering for Fénix, hoping to witness an upset, but it was not to be. The Ultimate Warrior was far too dominant. After weathering some quick offense and a tope con hilo, he countered tilt-a-whirl headscissors into a slam and then went on a rampage of clotheslines, axehandle smashes, and jumping shoulderblocks. A gorilla press drop and an Ultimate Splash later, and the win went to the odds on favourite.

A meeting of the members of the Latino World Order is called to order in the back corner of some seedy looking Mexican bar probably somewhere in Tijuana. Alberto El Patron blasts Rey Mysterio Jr. and his friends for sticking their noses where they don’t belong (again!). He lays the entire blame of his lost Lucha Underground Championship match on them. However, Eddie Guerrero speaks up, saying to Alberto that, “you should re-examine your conclusion, homes,”[/i] while pointing out that the paler than white chick he’s been messing around with stabbed him in the back. Alberto doesn’t appreciate being accused of having a failure of judgment, but it is well understood that he sold everyone here on the idea that the Latino luchadores have had a raw deal and should stick together and yet he’d been jumping into bed with a non-Latina. The feeling of a loss of confidence in the leader hangs in the air, but no one else jumps on Alberto, for he quickly riles up the troops with a pledge to get revenge on Mysterio and his friends, and on that traitorous tramp, Paige!

Juventud Guerrera defeated The Miz by pinfall to move onto the round of eight. Guerrera has twice advantaced thanks to receiving outside help. In the first round, The Miz helped him get past Awesome Kong, hoping to a avoid a match with her (something he’s been doing all season). This time, Juvi got an assist from Awesome Kong, who entered the ring in plain sight of the referee to give The Miz a chokeslam and an Awesome Bomb. Because Dario Cueto has decreed that all matches must be won by pinfall or submission, the match wasn’t ended and awarded to The Miz via disqualification. Instead, Juvi pinned The Miz to get the win.

Cesaro defeated “Macho King” Randy Savage by pinfall to advance to the quarterfinals. It was another fantastic match between these two luchadores, recalling the two great contests they’ve already had (see S2Ep5 and S2Ep15). Like in those matches, they grappled and showed off their technical skills for the Believers. And like in those matches, they brawled all around the Temple, some of the highlights being when Savage gave Cesaro a vertical suplex on the hardwood bleachers and when Cesaro threw Savage into a pile of the wooden chairs at ringside and then delivered a running European uppercut into them. And like in those matches, Savage turned to his royal sceptre to try to earn the victory. Whereas it worked in each of their previous contests, this time when he took his homerun swing, Cesaro ducked and rolled out of the way with a somersault and then he dropkicked Savage, causing the sceptre to fly out of his hands. When Cesaro picked up Savage, the Macho King gave him the ol’ snake eyes and ran to the ropes, but Cesaro lifted him high into the air and knocked him out cold with a Very European Uppercut. Then, just to make sure he had him beat, Cesaro picked up Savage, took him to the corner, and executed the Neutralizer from off the second rope, and that was enough to keep the Macho King down until the referee could count to three.
