From the "LEVEL UP! PRO-WRESTLING ARENA"
also known as the National Guard Armory in Poughkeepsie, New York...
But we're churchin' it up, because this is the beginning of something! Something big, even!
That's what everybody else is selling you. We're changing things around here, we're taking it back to basics, THIS IS WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT!
Or whatever.
"Spit Fountain" by Algernon Cadwallader plays as the shot opens, and we see Drew Cordeiro standing in the ring.
"FANS OF WRESTLING! You've arrived at a wrestling show. For people who don't like wrestling, there are no refunds, so don't ask. FOR FANS OF CHAMPIONSHIPS! We have two of them, and tonight, we're going to do some qualifier matches. We've got a show coming up called "World Warriors" and we're hoping it is a big deal. We're going to crown some champions there, and tonight will decide who will be in those matches, but I feel like I already said that in a round about way, so LET'S GET TO FIGHTING, SHALL WE!?"
And that's what they did.
NO LIMIT TITLE QUALIFIER - SIX MAN SCRAMBLE
AR Fox vs. Darby Allin vs. David Starr vs. Killer Kross vs. Shane Strickland vs. Zachary Wentz
Chaotic as all Hell here, which made it a joy for some, but a nightmare for purists. Killer Kross was the big man in all of this, and he got himself over by annihilating guys with huge spinebutes, powerslams, clotheslines, etc. He didn't win, though. Darby Allin would wipe him out from the apron with his Coffin Drop, leaving Zachary Wentz on the mat exposed for a Swerve Stomp from Shane Strickland, who gets the win! Strickland takes the microphone afterwards.
"This shit is what I live for, and I just proved I can overcome the odds. Everybody come out to World Warriors, and I'll make it worth your money. It looks like they want the No Limit title to be secondary around here or something, but if it gets around my waist, it's getting on the map, so watch out!"
Universal Super Crown Qualifier
Chris Dickinson vs. Mike Bailey
Brutal match here between "The Dirty Daddy" and "Speedball", as Dickinson wanted to bully around the diminutive Bailey, but Bailey backs down to no man. The strikes were flying here, but the power and tenacity of Dickinson would win out in the end, even if the fight never really stopped from Bailey. Bailey went two minutes without landing a shot in the end, but kept begging for Dickinson to bring it on, bring more, which lead to Dickinson slapping and kicking him viciously before the referee would get between them and break it up, having seen enough. Dickinson grabs the mic, frothing at the mouth.
"IS THIS YOUR HERO!? FUCK YOUR HEROES! FUCK YOU! BOW TO ME NOW!"
Dickinson throws down the mic and crotch chops to the crowd, who boo him incessantly.
Universal Super Crown Qualifier
Cedric Alexander vs. Trevor Lee
Lee tried to work a wild style on Alexander, taking a lot of punishment to Cedric early on before taking things out of the ring. With a 20 count in affect, this was a risky tactic and it ended up back firing as Alexander caught Lee flying at him and dropped him back first onto the railing on the outside before lifting him and dropping him spine first onto the apron. Alexander would roll into the ring and get the count out victory as Lee pounds his fist on the outside, "The Carolina Caveman" looking enraged by this turn of events.
BACKSTAGE, DREW CORDEIRO TRIES TO CONFRONT CHRIS DICKINSON, BUT "THE DIRTY DADDY" SHOVES HIM AWAY! Cordeiro says this is wrestling, there's supposed to respect, it's an art! He could have KILLED MIKE BAILEY out there with his reckless behavior!
Dickinson replies, "IF HE DIES, HE FUCKIN' DIES!" He shoves past Cordeiro again, not giving a damn about anything.
Dickinson replies, "IF HE DIES, HE FUCKIN' DIES!" He shoves past Cordeiro again, not giving a damn about anything.
NO LIMIT TITLE QUALIFIER - SIX MAN SCRAMBLE
Dave Crist vs. Dezmond Xavier vs. Joe Gacy vs. Joey Janela vs. Rickey Shane Page vs. Tony Deppen
Another dose of chaos here, and this one got even crazier, as with guys like "Bad Boy" Joey Janela and Joe Gacy involved, the weapons were more plentiful and the stunts a little crazier. Janela would do a moonsault off of a ladder and crash through a table on the outside at one point, winning him a few of the more bloodthirsty fans. That wasn't a smart strategy for winning the match. Rickey Shane Page is 6'05" and 280 lbs., but he mesmerized the fans with his impact and agility, and would win the match with a Corkscrew Senton Bomb onto Dave Crist, who was pinning Tony Deppen, pinning Deppen to get the victory and advance to face Shane Strickland at "World Warriors".
RSP grabs the microphone, panting after that war he just went through.
"Shane Strickland, you say you're putting this belt on the map? Well I'm going to make you a bloody stain on the mat, and I'm taking that title home."
Page hands off the microphone and poses for the fans, feeling very confident about his chances at bringing home the gold.
Universal Super Crown Qualifier
Ethan Page vs. Matt Sydal
Matt Sydal is clearly the bigger name, but Page is the bigger man and he let Sydal have it in this match for much of the early going. Page's ego would get in the way out of what was clearly a power advantage, and Sydal would manage to land a bicycle high knee, followed by a Running Shooting Star Press to hold Page down long enough to advance to the main event of "World Warriors".
Universal Super Crown Qualifier
Dalton Castle vs. Drew Gulak
Dalton Castle is quite the character, which Drew Gulak hates. Gulak belittles him to start, and overtakes him with a few good take downs early, but Castle uses the crowd to pull himself up in this match. Castle shows his charisma and skills in reversing Gulak's attacks and landing his own. Gulak try to take down Castle and finish things with a Dragon Sleeper, but Castle would manage to roll through it and actually lock on the Julie Newmar submission, causing Gulak to reluctantly tap out!
Castle flaunts in the ring, showboating as the fans praise him, only to get attacked by Gulak and locked into the scissored Dragon Sleeper! The referees have to break this vicious attack up! How unsportsmanlike!
Universal Super Crown Qualifier
Eddie Kingston vs, Keith Lee
Eddie Kingston usually tries to bully his opponents, but Keith Lee is a big, big man, and he knows he's good. This doesn't stop Kingston from attempting to knock him out, and he would land some great shots. Lee would eat multiple spinning backfists, but he refused to stay down. Lee would end up landing a knock out blow of his own, hoisting Kingston onto his shoulders and dropping him into a Rolling Elbow, smashing Kingston and putting him down for the three!
Lee grabs the microphone.
"BASK IN MY GLORY, FOR I WILL BE CHAMPION! "BLACKZILLA" WILL TEAR THIS WHOLE PLACE DOWN!"
Universal Super Crown Qualifier
Jay Lethal vs. Jay White
Workrate match of the night here, as management trusted these two top notch pros to tear the house down and they did just that! Lethal was the clear fan favorite, working the crowd as he performed dives and hit his signature moves, while "Switchblade" tried to stop the pace and put a hurting on Lethal, eliciting boos from the audience until the sprint of a finish that came at the end. White would manage to reverse a Lethal Injection attempt, delivering a Blade Runner to the shock of the crowd, but Lethal would manage to kick out! White would attempt another Blade Runner, but Lethal would escape and hit the Lethal Combination! Lethal would come off the top with his Hail to the King Elbowdrop, but White would kick out! White would manage to try to hit another Blade Runner, but Lethal would deliver a Dragon Suplex, followed by the Lethal Injection, getting a HUGE pop from the crowd, and the match was all over! Jay Lethal wins, but not without a huge fight and a great main event to end LEVEL UP!'S first show!
Lethal takes the microphone now.
"I've been sittin' on the DAMN SIDE LINE for far too long, watching everybody else grab all of the glory, when I'm right where I belong, RIGHT HERE IN THE MAIN EVENT! Stealin' the show, makin' the big money with the big lights shinin' on me, goin' out after this and kissin' all the girls, because I'm that good! The very best is standing right here! JAY LETHAL! I'm walkin' out with the champion's purse at "World Warriors" and I don't care if you're 6'05" or can fly like a damn eagle, I'm taking you down, and I'm getting my hand raised, because Jay Lethal is the face of Level Up! Pro-Wrestling! and I will not be denied!"
