Total Wrestling Evolution
Episode 1
The show opens with the opening vignette for TWE, followed by us heading down to ringside. We are greeted by the voice of TWE, Ryan Williams, who is accompanied by former wrestler and analyst, Mike Labonte. Williams explains that tonight will feature four matches from the opening round of the TWE Heavyweight title tournament. Labonte says the stakes couldn't be higher, as this is really a jumping off point for everyone involved in this promotion and first impressions mean a lot. Tonight could have ramifications on the trajectory of these men's careers going forward indefinitely, so each man has a lot to gain, but even more to lose based on their performances. One man who wants to talk about those ramifications is backstage right now, and his name is Nate Fatal.
Nate Fatal is backstage, wearing a red and black robe over his dark, mixed complexioned skin, his hair short cropped with a short beard, and a look of determination and maybe irritation on his face. He is joined by the caramel skinned Christina Mauro, who holds the microphone and conducts the interview.
Mauro:
Christina Mauro here, and I'm standing with a man who will be competing in the main event tonight, a Mr. Nate Fatal. Nate-
Fatal:
It's Mr. Fatal to you, Christina.
She looks a little taken a back as he raises his nose, looking away from her.
Mauro:
Alright- Mr. Fatal, tonight you face Shinjiro Nakajima to try to get a spot in the semi-finals of the TWE Heavyweight title tournament. What are your thoughts going into this contest tonight? How have you prepared for this bout?
Fatal shakes his head, chuckling a bit.
Fatal:
Christina, unlike your approach to your job, I actually do my homework and prepare like a champion. You stand there with the audacity to question my preparation? You and everybody need to understand, when I enter that ring, I am worthy of every eyeball and every accolade being placed squarely upon ME. When I get in that ring with this Shinjrio whatever the Hell his name is, he'd better be ready for the fight of his life, and he's better be ready to lose... and after my hand is raised, Christina, he'd better be ready to shake my hand and thank for the very HONOR of getting to step into the ring with me. In fact, after tonight, I'm going to be hearing a lot "Thank you's" here in the back for putting this company on the damn map. Make no mistake about it, tonight's show might have the stupid moniker of "Total Wrestling Evolution" on the marquee, but this is most definitely the "Nate Fatal Show" as far as anybody should be concerned.
Mauro kind of tilts her head with a look of pause on her face, taking all of that in.
Mauro:
You seem very confident, and I wish you the best of luck tonight, Na- I mean, Mr. Fatal.
Fatal stares at her intensely now.
Fatal:
I don't appreciate the sassy tone, Christina, and I don't need your best wishes. I am confident, and you're going to find out why, after I tear that ring down tonight and make this place famous.
Fatal turns, his robe flapping, as he exits the scene and we head to the ring.
"The Antagonist" Kyle Wilson vs. Uriah Creed
Kyle Wilson has a lot of attitude and is very scrappy, while Uriah Creed is a lot more poised, with a confidence about him. Both men are coming in at roughly the same height and weight, but Wilson is certainly a bit softer around the midsection, wearing something closer to street clothes with his cut off sleeved shirt and dark shorts, while Creed shows off a very impressive physique. Wilson proved that all of that cardio and strength training doesn't necessarily equate to victories though, as while Creed put on a very good showing, displaying uncanny athleticism and power, Wilson's fighting, brawling, impact based style is very effective. Wilson isn't afraid to take short cuts or get dirty, and it was that killer instinct that seemed to be the deciding factor. "The Antagonist" really got inside of the head of Creed and through him off with his rough style, before delivering a Superkick that sent him off the ropes, followed by a Pop-Up Death Valley Driver to knock Creed senseless and keep him down for the three.
After the match, Wilson continues to put the boots to Creed as the referee tries to pull him off of his prone victim. Wilson grabs the microphone and says, "You see that!? That's how I get paid! I'm taking that belt!" Wilson throws down the mic and storms to the back to a mixed reaction from the crowd.
Backstage, we see Ryan Davidson warming up and stretching, with his nicely combed over hair and long beard, wearing navy blue trunks and boots with white ripping designs on them. His opponent for the night, Evan Andrews, approaches with his spiked dark hair, wearing black long tights with red and silver writing that says "DEATH PROOF" with targets on them.
Davidson:
Evan...
Andrews:
Ryan...
Davidson:
I just want you to know, tonight, it's all business. I've got nothing against you, but I do have something to prove out there.
Evan looks down and nods, hands on his hips.
Andrews:
That's all well and fine, Ryan, but tonight, I'm going to do whatever it takes to take you out. We've all been given a big opportunity here, and you're not stealing mine.
Davidson:
Well, you'd better just hope whatever you've got is enough, because I know what I'm bringing is MORE than enough to take you out, "Death Proof". You see, I don't have to kill you, tonight... I've just got to make you tap.
Andrews smiles, shaking his head.
Andrews:
Yeah, well, good luck with that.
Andrews slaps Davidson on the shoulder and walks off as they prepare to head to the ring!
Ryan "The Lion" Davidson vs. "Death Proof" Evan Andrews
These two started the mind games before the match, but continued to play their proverbial game of chess in the ring early on, as they went to the mat to see who was the superior grappler. Andrews has a bit of size of Davidson and was able to use that to get the early advantage, but Davidson's knowledge of joint locks and counters allowed him to turn the tides and create a very painful experience for Andrews. Davidson would begin lighting Andrews up with kicks to the back and the left arm, followed by a series of downward elbows that sent the Hartford native to the outside rethinking his strategy. Davidson would allow Andrews back inside and stalked him before the two tangled up again, but this time they traded blows and the match began to heat up. Davidson would find himself whipped into the buckles so hard he flipped over the them, but he was able to block a springboard twisting dropkick from Andrews and springboard in with a dropkick of his own to the back of his head, sending Andrews flying back to the outside! "The Lion" would yell out and clap his hands, pointing to the outside before rushing off the ropes and looking like he might dive out, but Andrews hurried and caught him with a KNEE TO THE FACE as he tried to dive out, hanging him up on the middle rope! From there, Andrews scaled the middle turnbuckle and then flew off, delivering a nice Legdrop to the back of Davidson's head, sending him crashing to the outside! Andrews would get the fans going with some gestures before lifting Davidson up on his shoulder and looking like he might ram him into the buckles, trying to make good on his promise to do whatever he could to take him out, but Davidson slid off his back and sent Andrews face first into the turnpost! Andrews would spin out and land against the railing. Davidson would then pump himself up, taunting the crowd before rushing and Dropkicking Andrews against the railing, smashing him hard! Davidson took a little bump on that one, but his adrenaline is going now! Davidson sends Andrews back inside and heads up to the top turnbuckle. Davidson poses for a moment and then leaps off, looking for a Swandive Headbutt, but Andrews moves out of the way! Andrews rolls and pulls himself up on the ropes before rushing and catching "The Lion" as he's up to a knee with a Shining Enzuigiri! Andrews makes the cover, thinking he has it, but Davidson kicks out at two! Andrews calls for the end, lifting Davidson up and trying for his Creeping Death (Vertical Suplex Lift into a Stunner), but Davidson reverses it with a knee and then delivers a Reverse STO, rolling through a locking on a Pervuian Neck-tie! Andrews is caught in the center of the ring and Davidson is choking the life out of him! The referee checks and Andrews' eyes are rolling into the back of his head, he has to call it! The referee calls the match, and Davidson has won it!
After the match, Andrews is angered, as he wasn't aware that he was choked out and doesn't seem to know what happened. Davidson tries to shake his hand, but Andrews shoves him away, confused, and heads to the back. Davidson wins it, but Andrews definitely didn't tap out, so I guess he saved some face with that.
Backstage, we see Shinjiro Nakajima in his purple and black leather jacket, with black leather pants with purple trim. His long black hair covers has of his face, as he smiles into the camera.
Nakajima:
Nate Fatal. I heard you talk. You love to talk. I love pain. I love to make your pain a reality. I love to beat you until you cannot move, cannot think. Cannot speak. I will teach you about pain and violence, and I will teach you that I am KING.
Nakajima laughs as we cut away, and head back to the ring.
Jami Blain vs. "The Pitbull" Dory Fletcher
Jami Blain has a fun entrance and great energy, with his pale complexion and strawberry blond features. He likes to have a good time, and loves to put on a show. Dory Fletcher is a man who doesn't seem like he's interested in having fun, and seems more interested in snapping his opponent's limbs by any means necessary. Fletcher lays a pretty good beating on Blain early, shootkicking and chopping him in the corner, laying kneelifts in his ribs and head, before delivering a Bridging German Suplex for a two count. Fletcher locks on a Dragon Sleeper and tries to end things, but Blain knees his way out and starts to fight back with big rights hands and some flying clotheslines and calf kicks off the ropes. Fletcher catches Blain with another knee and then tries to whip him into the corner, following closely behind, but Blain scales the ropes and flips over Fletcher backwards, landing on his feet and catching Fletcher with a HARD leaping palm strike that sends him flying back into the buckles! From there, Blain sets him up on the buckles and grabs his arms, flipping him over with the Iconoclasm, but Fletcher kicks out at two, much to Blain and the fans' disappointment! Blain calls for the end and tries to lift up Fletcher into a Brainbuster, but Fletcher reverses with a knee to the face and then takes Blain down with a Fujiwara Armbar! Blain fights and fights to get the ropes, before "The Pitbull" pulls back his other arm and locks him into the Rings of Saturn! Blain is feeling the torture now that Fletcher loves to inflict, but manages to get his boot to the ropes before being forced to tap out. Fletcher argues with the referee, shoving him back a bit before putting the puts to Blain and then sending more kicks into his chest as he makes it to his knees. Fletcher tries for a Spinning Back Kick to the kneeling Blain, but Blain ducks it and rolls him up with a School Boy, which he shoves through and catches him with a Baby DDT! Blain runs off the ropes and hits a Springboard Corkscrew Senton from the middle rope, stopping and posing for the fans before leaping and hitting a Standing Corkscrew Moonsault, hooking the leg but getting a two count! Blain leaps up and begins clapping as Fletcher pulls him up on the ropes, which sees Blain rush him and hit a Leaping Double Knee into his chest, which he bounces back from and lands on his feet, turning and running. Fletcher groggily stumbles forward and Blain runs right past him. Fletcher turns but Blain has caught him and flips, delivering Operation Ivy (Somersault Reverse DDT), planting Fletcher and hooking the leg for the three count as the fans cheer him on!
Blain gets out and celebrates with the crowd, winning them over here as he heads to the semi-finals!
"The King of Violence" Shinjiro Nakajima vs. Nate Fatal
Shinjiro Nakajima has an intimidating and off putting presence about him that can work on his opponent's psyche, as they just really don't know where he is coming from or what he is capable of. Nate Fatal, to his credit, didn't seem to be sucked into this, and maintained his air of superiority, looking very unimpressed by Nakajima and actually seeming more interested removing some dirt or something else from his boots than watching his opponent upon his entrance. As the match got going, Fatal was forced to take the Japanese star seriously, as Nakajima started hitting him with strikes from different angles and going for takedowns that Fatal definitely didn't want to go his way. Fatal showed some great technical ability, hanging with Nakajima hold for hold on the mat and showing his knowledge of ring positioning to break up the offense of "The King of Violence", causing rope breaks at different times to create some distance between he and the "The Psycho Striker". Fatal would eventually manage to low duck an attempt at a running knee from Nakajima as he was against the ropes, sending Nakajima to the outside! Fatal would poses in the middle of the ring, flexing and doing a double point reminiscent of Scott Hall, before rushing and flying through the ropes like a missle with a Dive! Fatal would show some great agility and speed, however, landing on his feet immediately after impact and then rushing to the apron, where he would then leap and come off the middle rope and hit an Asai Moonsault, sending Nakajima back first into the railing and then to the floor, as Fatal once again landed on his feet in the crowd, holding his arms out stretched and taunting as the fans gave him a great ovation! Nakajima crawls on the floor, trying to regain his composure, but Fatal slings himself over the railing in a measured fashion and puts a boot to Nakajima's lower back, sending him down to the floor. Fatal plants a knee across his back and begins pulling at his face with his fingers, yelling, "Who's the KING NOW, Nakajima!?" Fatal then blasts him across the face with a crossface punch, before taunting some more, strutting a bit and bobbing his head before rolling back in the ring and motioning for Nakajima to face him on his terms. Nakajima would become wild at this point, grabbing a chair and sling it with abandon into the ring, looking crazed as Fatal yells, "Hey now! What the Hell! We don't play those games! Nuh uh!" Nakajima grabs the ringbell and then slides in, as the referee tries to stop him. Fatal begins unloading forearms to Nakajima's back as the scuffle goes on, but Nakajima begins lighting up Fatal with a flurry of chops, followed by a whip and then a very impressive Single High Knee that sent Fatal flipping backwards and face first onto the mat! Nakajima is feeling it, though Labonte points out he's making a huge mistake not pinning Fatal here, as he instead taunts and poses for the fans, leaning up against the ropes and yelling out, obviously alluding to something coming. Fatal picks himself up to a knee and sees Nakajima coming, who rushes him and seems to be looking for a Shining Wizard, but Fatal ducks it... Nakajima turns... FATAL ATTRACTION (RKO)! Both men are down! The fans are on their feet, as the momentum has changed again... and Fatal KIPS UP! He's hurting, but he's up and in the corner. Nakajima pulls himself up on the ropes, slowly, making faces of pain, and he turns around... SUPERKICK! Nakajima is down in the center of the ring, and Fatal's not done. He heads to the buckles and scales them. He gets to the top and poses, which Labonte once again critiques him on. Fatal flies from the top, looking for the Heartbreaker Elbowdrop, but Nakajima gets a boot up and Fatal flies back against the ropes, but he holds himself up! Nakajima spins and gets to his feet, squaring Fatal up before trying for a Roundhouse Kick to the head, but Fatal ducks it and catches Nakajima with another Superkick as he spins around, taking him down to a knee. Fatal runs past Nakajima and leaps, coming off the middle rope and hitting another variation of the Fatal Attraction! Nakajima is down, and Fatal turns, draping his arm over him. ONE... TWO... THREE! IT'S ALL OVER! Nate Fatal advances in the Heavyweight title tournament.
Nakajima cannot believe this, threatening the referee, as Fatal has left, grabbing a camera and stating, "I told ya! I told ya I'm the damn best, and I'm worth every penny! You're looking at the face of TWE, baby!" He then shoves the camera back and poses again on the ramp as the show comes to an end.
