Hybrid Pro-Wrestling
"The New Level"
Before the show begins, president Jason Black makes his way out to introduce the fans to HPW and what was going to be happening tonight. He explained that three tournaments have begun around the Women's title, No Limit title, and the Grand championship. He goes down the list, explaining the main event will be a Grand championship qualifier involving CM Punk and Cody Rhodes, leading to the sounds of AFI hitting the speakers and out coming CM Punk in his black and white warm up to a mixed reaction. Punk gets on the microphone and says he knows what Black wants, he knows what he hopes for, but it isn't going to happen. He says he wants his perfect role model, Cody Rhodes, to go over. Mr. Charisma, Mr. Silver Spoon, Mr. Marketable, and he wants him to go over CM Punk, the man he sees nothing of himself in. He says he will disappoint him tonight, as tonight begins something he can't understand and won't understand, and it will consume HPW.
This leads Cody Rhodes to make his way out to cheers. Rhodes says Punk may be a little jealous of him for being his better in every way, and Jason Black would be a fool if he didn't hope for his success tonight. He says tonight is going to be the beginning of something, and that's a long streak of wins for Cody Rhodes and a continued lack of success for CM Punk, as Cody Rhodes begins his rise to the Grand championship!

Trevor Lee (2017) vs. ACH (2017) vs. Jimmy Jacobs (2009)
Trevor Lee would win the first No Limit title qualifier. Jimmy Jacobs would try to get a cheap win by pulling the tights of ACH after a Sunset Flip, only to have Lee rip Jacobs off of ACH and deliver a brutal high speed German Suplex onto a chair, bridging to get the pinfall victory and advance in the tournament!

Candice LeRae (2016) vs. Dark Angel (2012)
Candice LeRae is fiery and tried to use all of her spunk and cheap tactics to take down the fast and agile Dark Angel, but Angel managed to advance in the Women's title tournament here after reversing LeRae's modified Gory Bomb with an armdrag, followed by La Reienera to gain the submission win!

William Regal (2008) vs. Chris Hero (2005)
Hero was facing one of his idols here in Regal, but neither man seemed to be interested in showing respect. This was a match of two versatile mat generals, and villains. Hero knows a lot of dirty tricks, but Regal knows more, and his overwhelming brawling and viciousness would eventually wear down Hero. Hero showed a lot of heart, asking for more as Regal stomped his face and disgraced him, but Regal would finally put him down with a Knee Trembler to the skull to knock out the Dayton, OH, native and advance in the Grand championship tournament.
"Homicidal, Genocidal, Suicidal" Sabu (1998) vs. "The Wrestling Machine" Austin Aries (2006) vs. Delirious (2007)
This was a real mix of styles that showcased what Hybrid Pro-Wrestling is all about, and was probably the most entertaining match of the night. These three got creative, taking the action all over, which really highlighted the skills of a guy like Sabu, the eventual winner. Aries would deliver a 450 Splash to Delirious, looking like he might have the win, only to have Sabu fly in with a Springboard chair assisted Legdrop to smash Aries to the back of the head. Sabu would end up hitting a Triple Jump Moonsault to put Aries away for the three count and advance in the No Limit title tournament.
Sara Del Rey (2011) vs. Mercedes Martinez (2016)
Two very hard hitters in the Women's division did battle here, and it was hard to tell who would come out on top throughout. Many near falls took place, but SDR would eventually break out of the Bull Run Fisherman's Buster with a solid knee, taking down Martinez into a Bridging German Suplex for a two count, which she followed by up with a Bridging Tiger Suplex; that was enough to hold Martinez down for the three, and Del Rey advances in the Women's title tournament.
"The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson (2010) vs. Lance Storm (1999)
These competitors are known as two of the best technicians in the game, so the fans knew they were in for a mat wrestling treat. Storm would show Danielson little respect coming out, out wresting him early and slapping the back of his head, yelling, "Bring it, Dragon!" The sarcasm seemed to incense Danielson, who did, indeed, bring it, and what we got was tough, hard hitting action for about twelve more minutes that saw both men try to knock their opponent loopy with big kicks and slams. Storm would try submit Danielson with a Roll-Through Half Boston Crab, but Danielson would fight to the ropes. Storm would wind up and try for a Superkick, but Danielson would duck it and hit a Dragon Suplex for a two count. Danielson would hurry and lock on Cattle Mutilation, but Storm would get his foot on the ropes to break! Storm catch Danielson with the Superkick and then tried to go for the leg again, but Danielson rolled him up for a near fall! Back up, Danielson would take Storm's arm over and roll him into the LeBell Lock, getting a huge pop from this Philly crowd, but Storm still fought his way out! These two would exchange blows in the middle of the ring before Storm went for another Superkick, which Danielson ducked and then grabbed Storm from behind, taking him down to the mat. From there, "The American Dragon" locked him up in a sort of Octupus hold before unleashing downward elbows, smashing Storm repeatedly until the referee had to do a verbal submission stoppage. "The American Dragon" wins in brutal fashion here, and heads to the finals of the Grand championship tournament.
Edge (2000) vs. Sami Zayn (2015) vs. Hayabusa (2000)
Much like the previous three way, these guys were able to show off the truly "hybrid" style of this promotion, blending lucha libre with hardcore with big impact to make for a very entertaining spotfest of a match that was welcomed after brutal mat war we saw before it. At one point, Hayabusa had Sami Zayn set up on a table on the floor and attempted an Asai Moonsault to put him through it, only to have Edge rush and dive, catching him mid-move with a SPEAR THAT SMASHED HAYABUSA AND ZAYN THROUGH THE TABLE! Edge would get Hayabusa back inside after that, delivering the Impaler DDT to get the three count and advance in the No Limit title tournament!
"The Whole F'N Show" Rob Van Dam (1998) vs. Hideo Itami (2015)
RVD was his usual boastful self in this match, and it created quite a contrast, as Van Dam showed Itami zero respect and stalled a lot in the opening, really playing to this Philly crowd. Itami would eventually make him pay, as RVD can kick, but few can kick quite like Itami. RVD would eventually manage to duck some on coming offense in the way of a High Kick in the corner from Itami, and hit a Monkey Flip to get things going in his direction. RVD would deliver a big spin kick to send Itami to the outside, where he slung him over the guard rail and hit a Diving Spinning Legdrop to his back, followed by a HUGE Diving Front Flip Plancha off the buckles into the crowd, smashing Itami into the chairs and getting a huge "RVD!" chant going throughout the arena. RVD would send Itami back into the ring and try to hit Rolling Thunder, but Itami got his knees up to crush Rob's back, following up with a Running Single High Knee that nearly took out RVD for the three count! Itami would lift up RVD and try to hit the Go 2 Sleep, but RVD blocked it and hit a spinkick of his own. RVD would try to go up and deliver his Five Star Frogsplash, only to have Itami roll out of the way and cause RVD to eat the canvas. Itami would deliver a staggering combo of strikes in the center of the ring, followed by the running Single High Knee again to flip RVD onto his front, nearly knocking him out completely. From there, Itami lifts him, getting a "GO TO SLEEP!" chant from the crowd, and he proceeds to deliver his signature finisher, smashing RVD in the chest his knee to knock him out of the mat for the three count. Hideo Itami advances in the Grand championship tournament!
CM Punk (2004) vs. Cody Rhodes (2017)
Punk is very brash and showed that he obviously has no respect for Rhodes earlier in the show. Rhodes is wearing red, white, and blue, and is acting very faceish here, and tries to show Punk respect, but once that is denied, this match is very heated. This was a complete clash of personalities, but the style of the match was very old school in its pacing and selling. Rhodes would work over Punk early, taking him down with a Springboard Dropkick and a DDT for near falls on different occasions. Punk would use a well timed low blow kick to reverse a rear grapple from Rhodes, and then sent Cody to the outside to begin picking him apart there. Punk would expose the floor and hit a Piledriver that looked really nasty to try to take out Rhodes. Back in the ring, Punk would deliver a Double Underhook Backbreaker to attempt to get the win, but still just a two count. Punk would threaten the referee, but then continue his pummeling barrage of Rhodes. Rhodes would eventually rake at Punk's eyes and choke him against the ropes, showing a lot of fire as he blasted him with back and forth fists before hitting the Disaster Kick, but only getting a two count as Punk managed to barely get his foot on the ropes. Cody called for the end, looking for the Cross Rhodes, but Punk escaped and sent Cody into the turnbuckles. Punk would rush in and deliver a knee before heading up top, and he looked like he was thinking Pepsi Plunge. Cody would fight him off, however, and deliver a HUGE Suplerplex, floating over it into a pin attempt, but Punk still kicked out! Rhodes would try to lock on his American Nightmare, only to get a thumb to the eye from Punk, who then kicked Rhodes in the face to take him down before rolling out of the ring. Punk looked like he had had enough and grabbed a chair, rolling into the ring and SMASHING RHODES WITH IT! The referee calls for the bell, as Punk smashes Rhodes with the chair before lifting him up and delivering a Hammerlock DDT onto the chair, knocking Rhodes out cold!
Rhodes is declared the winner as Punk is shoved back by the referee, but Punk tosses the referee from the ring, crossing his arms and yelling obscenities at this riled up Philly crowd as they boo and throw garbage at him! Punk stands over Rhodes, and you know this isn't over yet.
