Heath Slater and Son of Havoc defeated Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson by pinfall to earn a chance to challenge the Heenan Family, with a partner of their choice, at Ultima Lucha. This is a match that Anderson and Blanchard seemed to have firmly in hand. For most of the match, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before they would win and end Slater and Son of Havoc’s hopes of getting a Trios Championship match. Slater was twice put in the position of playing the role of Ricky Morton. Twice, he made a hot tag, and twice Son of Havoc rallied only to have the rally squashed by underhanded maneuvers by Anderson and Blanchard or their manager Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. The third time was the charm. This time, Son of Havoc made the hot tag to Heath Slater, who landed dropkicks and leg lariats on his opponents, followed by a back body drop on Blanchard and a jumping neckbreaker on Anderson. When he covered Anderson to go for the win, Heenan climbed onto the ring apron to distract the referee. Slater went over and grabbed Heenan by his bomber jacket. He threatened to punch him, but let go and moved, causing a charging Blanchard to knock Heenan off the ring apron. Slater tagged Son of Havoc, who nailed Blanchard with a missile dropkick that sent him out of the ring. Meanwhile, Slater grabbed Anderson and gave him the Smash Hit DDT, which Son of Havoc followed up with a shooting star press to get the win.

We cut to a shot of Dario Cueto’s office. Inside, Cueto meets with Ivelisse, Victoria, Charlotte Flair, and Beth Phoenix. Cueto tells them that there are two reasons he’s asked to meet with them. First, they are all incredibly talented luchadoras that have nothing to do at Ultima Lucha and so he wants to solve that problem by putting them in a fatal fourway match. Second, even though they are all incredibly talented, none of them has done anything to impress him in a long time, and because he wants only the best luchadoras in the world competing in the Temple, this fatal fourway will be just that – fatal to the careers of the three luchadoras that lose this match. Whichever luchadora wins will be invited to compete in the Temple after Ultima Lucha. The other three will have to clean out their lockers because their careers in Lucha Underground will be terminated.

Mil Muertes defeated Rey Mysterio Jr. by pinfall. This was an entertaining 10-minute lucha libre contest that saw Mysterio take some hard-hitting maneuver, but not give up, and then mount a strong comeback. Just like in the first match of the night, managerial interference played a decisive role in the outcome of the match. However, unlike in that first match of the night, it did not backfire. As Mysterio’s big comeback was kicking into high gear, he gave Mil Muertes a dropkick between the shoulder blades that knocked him into the ropes and put him in position for the Six-One-Nine. After hitting it, Mysterio stood on the ring apron, poised to springboard, but when the referee looked at Mil Muertes getting to his foot, Catrina grabbed Mysterio by the foot to prevent him from leaping onto the top turnbuckle. Mysterio looked down at her after she let go and that momentary loss of focus led to him getting the Reaper’s Trident (a spear) off the ring apron! After that brutal move, Mil Muertes smashed Mysterio’s head off the turnbuckle post before bringing him back into the ring and giving him the Flatliner.
After winning the match, Catrina entered the ring, slithered over Mysterio’s fallen body and went in to give him the lick of death across his face, but Mysterio blocked her at the last moment and reversed positions with her. Mil Muertes saw this and grew angry. He tried to attack Mysterio, but he dodged the attack, countering it with a drop toehold that caused Mil Muertes to fall onto Catrina. Then, Mysterio went to the ropes and nailed Mil Muertes with a West Coast Pop before leaving the ring.

Heath Slater is out in the back alley behind the Temple talking on the phone to his wife. He’s all excited about his team’s big win and tells her to wake up the kids and them the good news. Then, we can hear the sound of a motorcycle starting. Slater turns to his right to look at where the sound is coming from. He tells his wife that he needs to go and he’ll call her back in a few minutes. He walks over and sees Son of Havoc on the motorcycle, getting ready to put his helmet on. He asks him why he’s leaving when they should be celebrating their big win. Son of Havoc says that he’s got more important things to do right now, which is why he needs to get out on the Open Road right now. Slater asks him what for and he says that he needs to go find them a trios partner that can help them win the Trios Championships. Slater asks him where he’s going to find their partner. After Son of Havoc gets the helmet on, he looks at Slater and says that, at the end of the Open Road is Parts Unknown. There, he’ll find the ultimate partner for their team. Then, he puts the helmet visor down and takes off.

VS. VS. VS.
Cesaro and Dean Ambrose defeated the teams of Prince Puma and Ultimo Dragon, Bad News Brown and Vader, and Baron Corbin and Chris Jericho by pinfall in the final match Lucha Underground match before Ultima Lucha. With eight luchadors in this match, the pace of the action was brisk. There were quite a few high spots thanks to the likes of Ambrose, Jericho, Prince Puma, and Ultimo Dragon. The biggest spot of the evening was Ultimo Dragon performing a monsault off of the railing of one of the high-rise bleachers into a crowd of luchadors below. Everyone got an opportunity to showcase their moves going into Ultima Lucha, whether it was Cesaro giving Brown a Very European Uppercut, Vader giving Ultimo Dragon a fold-up powerbomb, Corbin giving Prince Puma the Deep Six, Ambrose turning Jericho inside out with a Lunatic Lariat, Brown giving Ambrose a superplex, Ultimo Dragon giving Corbin a running sit-out Dragon-bomb, Jericho giving Cesaro a Lionsault, or Prince Puma giving Vader a Pele kick followed by a springboard rebound tornado DDT. The end game saw a rapid-fire series of finishers executed, culminating with the Lucha Underground Champion, Cesaro, stealing the win away from Corbin by giving him the Neutralizer and pinning him just moments after he finished planting Ultimo Dragon into the mat with the End of Days.

We cut back to Dario Cueto’s office, where we find him alone, sitting at his desk, counting stacks of money. He takes all the cash and places it in a safe. Then, he poors himself some tequila. He takes a sip of his drink, and we turns around, Catrina is sitting in his chair. Cueto is startled, but collects himself and asks her what she wants. Catrina says that it isn’t what she wants, it is what Mil Muertes wants – and what he wants is to send Rey Mysterio Jr. to an early grave. Cueto immediately says, “No,” reasoning that he can’t let that happen because Mysterio is the biggest draw in lucha libre and he can’t allow lose his cash cow. Catrina tells him to think of the money he can make by promoting appearances by the man who ended Rey Mysterio’s career. Cueto takes a moment to think about it and decides that he’d stand to make even more cash, so he tells her that Mil Muertes can have his match.

Speaking of banishment from the Temple – this just in – Dario Cueto has signed a Terminate or Be Terminated Fatal Fourway Match between Charlotte Flair, Ivelisse, Beth Phoenix, and Victoria. The three luchadoras that lose the match will also be banished from the Temple!
Plus, tonight, Heath Slater and Son of Havoc, and a partner of their choice, have earned an opportunity to face The Heenan Family for the Trios Championships!
And finally, in the main event of Ultima Lucha, the Mash-Up World Heavyweight Champion, Brock Lesnar will defend his championship against Samoa Joe!
A trumpet blares signaling the arrival of Dario Cueto. He exits his office with a microphone in hand and enters the ring to the chanting of the crowd. He has entered the ring to remind us that Ultima Lucha is next week. He knows that everyone is excited for this event, and while he knows that Matt Striker and Vampiro were just running down the card, he wants to inform us that he has two more big matches to add to the show. And with the addition of these two matches, Ultima Lucha is going to be so big that it can’t all happen in one night. No! Ultima Lucha will take place over two nights!
Now the first new addition to the show is a re-match from tonight’s event. At the request of Mil Muertes, at Ultima Lucha, he will seek to bury Rey Mysterio Jr. in a Grave Consequences Match!
And that’s not all because, we are also going to see a match that Dario Cueto has wanted to see for such a long time that he won’t be content to see it just once – he will need to see it at least twice. Lucha’s only Olympic Gold Medal Winner, Kurt Angle will compete against the King of Strong Style, Shinsuke Nakamura, in a best 2 out of 3 Falls Match!
Now before we end our evening, Cueto says that he would like to introduce us to the man who will be in the Ultima Lucha main event – the Mash-Up World Heavyweight Champion: Brock Lesnar! Lesnar comes to the ring accompanied by his Advocate, Paul Heyman, who cuts a scathing promo on Lesnar’s challenger, Samao Joe, for his actions from 4 weeks ago in which Joe came to the ring, put Lesnar in the Coquina Clutch, knocking him out, and then grabbed the World Championship in his hands and looked at it closely (see Episode 29). Heyman then invites Samoa Joe to come down to the ring right now so that he can get another close look at the title because it is the last time he’ll ever get a chance to see it up close unless of course he’s laying on his back in the centre of the ring and he’s been too physically incapacitated to do anything other than open his eyelids and stare up at the Conqueror as he stands above the Conquered with his prized trophy around his waist.
Much to Heyman and Lesnar’s surprise, Samoa Joe appears at the top of the stairs and starts walking down to the ring. He enters the ring, showing no sense of fear. Dueling “Suplex City!” and “Joe is gonna kill you!” chants break out. Joe tells Heyman he’s come here to take him up on his offer. Heyman calls him either the stupidest or bravest human being alive to have entered the ring with an angry Beast Incarnate. Joe nonchalantly asks if he’s supposed to feel threatened, which gets a rise out of the Believers. Heyman cautions Joe that he is treading on thin ice. Joe tells Heyman that he hasn’t got all day and asks him if he’s going to let him look at the title or not. Lesnar takes the strap off of his waist and hands it over. Joe takes a long good look at it and gives it back. All he says is that the title will look good around his waist after Ultima Lucha.
Joe turns around to leave and as he gets near the ropes, Lesnar runs over to hit him in the back of the head with the belt, but Joe turns around and blocks it. Joe stares him down and Lesnar takes two steps back and starts to laugh as if to insinuate that he was just playing games and wasn’t really going to smash him in the head with his title. Joe points at the belt and at Lesnar and then gives a throat cutting gesture before stepping through the ropes and leaving.
It's Brock Lesnar versus Samoa Joe for the Mash-Up Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion at Ultima Lucha! Don’t miss it!
