Prince Puma defeated Shinsuke Nakamura by pinfall. This was a very long match that saw both wrestlers hit big move after big move, only to have their opponent kick out. The fans were brought to their feet and made to chant “This is awesome!” as the contrasting style of Puma’s high-flying, high-risk offense and Nakamura’s punishing strong style offense were stretched to their limits. Puma thought he had the match won when he landed his usual finisher, the 630 somersault senton, but Nakamura kicked out. Conversely, Nakamura nailed Puma with a Bomaye from off the top rope, but Puma kicked out of that. The match finally ended when Nakamura lined up Puma for another Bomaye, but Puma moved out of the way, then lifted Nakamura onto his shoulders and executed a 2-point Benadryller (fireman’s carry dropped into an overhead kick) followed by Vertigo (an inverted facelock sitout scoop slam piledriver). Prince Puma advances to the finals of the Lucha Underground Championship tournament, which will be held next week!

Cesaro enters the Lucha Underground locker room and has a confrontation with Bad News Brown. He tells Brown that he’s a terrible team player and doesn’t appreciate what he did to him and Rey Mysterio Jr. during their trios match against the Heenan Family (see Episode 4). Brown says that he’s only in it for himself and tells Cesaro that he had better watch his back because there’s Bad News coming for him.

Charlotte Flair got back on the winning track by defeating Lluvia in her Lucha Underground debut. Lluvia impressed with her lucha libre skills, taking Charlotte down with a variety of flying headscissor takedowns and nearly picked up the win on a diving cross body off of the turnbuckle. However, Flair battled back. After she gave Lluvia the Natural Selection, she made her submit to the Figure Eight.

Cesaro defeated Mr. Cisco by pinfall. For the most part, this was not a difficult match for the International Heavyweight Champion. However, in the middle of it, Bad News Brown ran in and gave him the Ghetto Blaster after he finished spinning Mr. Cisco around in the Cesaro Swing. Rey Mysterio Jr. ran out to attack Brown and they ended up brawling all over the Temple. Mr. Cisco briefly took control of the match, but then Cesaro regained control by hitting him with a European uppercut as he dove off of the top turnbuckle. Castro Cortez, the other half of The Crew, tried to interfere on his partner’s behalf, but Cesaro took his kendo stick from him and nailed him with it. Shortly thereafter, Cesaro executed the Neutralizer on Mr. Cisco and pinned him for the win.

We go to a shot of the Temple gymnasium, where Samoa Joe is pounding away at a punching bad. Sensational Sherri and Batista interrupt him. They aren’t happy that he didn’t come to support Batista during his Lucha Underground Championship tournament match against Shinsuke Nakamura (see Episode 5). They ask Joe why he wasn’t there for Batista in his match, noting that Batista was there for Joe in his match, to which he curtly responds that Batista’s help didn’t do him much good. They don’t appreciate Joe’s attitude, but Joe doesn’t appreciate that they’re accusing him of not being a team player and he goes on to insinuate that hiring Sherri as his manager might’ve been a mistake because all he seems to do since joining forces with Sherri and Batista is lose. Things get heated between Batista and Joe after that comment, but Sherri calms the situation down and has Batista leave with her, but not before telling Joe that he had better show up for their tag team match next week.

Kurt Angle defeated Chris Jericho by submission. Kurt Angle defeated Chris Jericho by submission. This match harkens back to the early 2000s when Angle and Jericho fought each other in several excellent wrestling matches. The in-ring chemistry was still there as they put on a clinic. The match featured chain wrestling sequences, a knife-edge chop battle, brawling around ringside, underhanded tactics from both men (Jericho started cheating, so Angle responded in kind), and a multitude of suplexes. Angle struck first with his finisher, putting Jericho in the Ankle Lock, but Jericho was able to kick Angle away and then execute the Codebreaker. Angle kicked out of the pinfall attempt, so Jericho then put him in the Walls of Jericho, which Angle eventually ended by getting to the ropes. A few moments later, Angle hit the Angle Slam, but Jericho kicked out. By this time, the fans were on their feet, once again chanting “This is awesome!” After trading a few more moves, Jericho pulled of a one-handed bulldog. Then, he went for the lionsault, but Angle blocked it with his knees and instantly transitioned that into an ankle lock. Jericho attempted to boot him away and drag himself to the ropes, but failed on both accounts. Finally, Angle pulled him back into the center of the ring and dropped to the mat with a leg scissors. Jericho had nowhere to go and was forced to tap out. Angle advances to next week’s Lucha Underground Championship finals where he will face Prince Puma.
