Season 1, Episode 1From the Temple in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, California Commentary Team: Matt Striker and Vampiro Ring Announcer: Melissa Santos *** Standing in the ring is the lovely Melissa Santos, who announces the arrival of the owner and promoter of Lucha Underground, who is revealed to be former AGPW commissioner Dario Cueto. He welcomes everyone to his Temple, where the best luchadores and luchadoras in the world will compete every week. He says that, as luck would have it, the company he used to manage came up for sale, so he bought it out from under the previous owner and brought only its best fighters here to Boyle Heights, California, to compete in his Temple. To begin, he announces that the AGPW Women’s Championship, currently held by Sexy Star, will be renamed the Luchadoras Championship, and it will be defended in tonight’s main event against the former champion, Charlotte Flair. Then, he says that the AGPW International Heavyweight Championship will be replaced by the Lucha Underground Championship. To decide who will be the first title holder, 16 of the best luchadores in the world will compete in a tournament with the winner to face the current International Heavyweight Champion, Cesaro, for the right to become the first Lucha Underground Champion. This tournament will begin next week. *** In the first ever match in Mash-Up Wrestling’s Lucha Underground, Cesaro, Aerostar & PJ Black defeated The Heenan Family by pinfall. Vader appeared to have the win all sown up for his team after he executed a Vader Bomb on Aerostar. However, Cesaro caught Vader by surprise by breaking up the pinfall. Then, he pinned Vader after a series of quick European uppercuts followed by the Neutralizer. Cesaro scored the winning pinfall thanks in part to the “Darewolf” PJ Black, who took out Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson with a corkscrew plancha at the same time the Cesaro executed his finishing maneuver. *** We take a shot inside of an office where there is a desk, liquor cabinet and windows with the venetian blinds drawn down. This is the office of Dario Cueto, who leans back in his desk chair after pouring himself a glass of tequila. Rey Mysterio Jr. comes in and asks why he did not receive an invitation to compete in the tournament. Before Cueto can answer, Bad News Brown comes in and says that this tournament shouldn’t even happen because he has the Gift of the Gods and he wants to turn it in and get his match to become the first Lucha Underground Champion. Cueto says that Brown can’t turn in the Gift of the Gods because he first needs to defend it in the ring tonight and that Mysterio isn’t in the tournament because he has an opportunity to take the Gift of the Gods, which he can use to by-pass a 4-round tournament and get an immediate shot at winning the Lucha Underground Championship, so they should go out to the ring and fight over the title right now! *** VS. Rey Mysterio Jr. defeated Bad News Brown to become the new holder of the Gift of the Gods. Mysterio got out to an early advantage thanks to his speed, but Brown took over the match when it spilled out to the floor. Brown was pounding and grounding Mysterio until he went for the Ghetto Blaster, but Mysterio ducked it. Then, Mysterio mounted a comeback and won the match by pinfall after hitting the Six-One-Nine and West Coast Pop. *** VS. Sexy Star defeated Charlotte Flair to retain the Luchadoras Championship. Flair nearly won the match when she pinned Sexy Star after giving her Natural Selection on the outside of the ring. However, it took too much time to get Sexy Star back into the ring and so she was able to get a shoulder up on the pinfall. After blocking an attempt to put her in the figure eight, Sexy Star ducked a big boot and then took Flair down into a cross armbreaker, which forced Flair to tap out.

This is an awesome first episode of LU.
I was excited about the change of promotions. I kind of had a feeling that this move was coming, but I LOVE it. I enjoyed your Canadian stuff, btu I think that this right here is even better cause Lucha Underground is already taking over the wrestling world as it is, but now it's even cooler now it's here in Mash-Up Wrestling.
Also a nice little change with Bad News dropping to Mysterio. He is basically the face of Lucha. So I think it's deserved, but I do think that Bad News is not going to let this go without doing something.
Also nice Main Event giving the women the Main Event. You know my feelings on female wrestling, but I enjoyed this Main Event. I think this would have been a solid match. You have probably the best female roster in the game. Just so many stars. I mean when you have both Star and Charlotte duking it out over the main belt. It's hard to top.
So excited to see where we go from here.

Thanks, Boggs. I'm glad you liked it. I'm really happy to have changed promotions. After three years of AGPW, I didn't think there was much more for me to achieve with that project. I wanted to try something new, and I also needed it, because I'm back in university for the year and I won't have time to write the big shows that I would write for that promotion. I new style with shorter shows and a smaller roster suits me really well right now. The timing was perfect to change things up. And yeah, Lucha Underground is the hottest thing in the wrestling world today, or at least I think so. It is my favourite thing to happen to wrestling in a very long time. I'm very happy that I got the chance to bring it to Mash-Up Wrestling before anyone else decided to do it.
SPOILER ALERT: You're right about Bad News Brown. Stay tuned.

Wow man. Just wow. It is with a tear in my eye, I declare this one of my favorite shows you've ever written. I've got chills bro, for real. I'll agree with everybody's sentiment - it's GREAT to see LU in the Mash-Up Wrestling universe. There is so much untapped Fantasy potential, even for such a short-lived promotion. I haven't seen so many fans genuinely excited about a product since the waning days of ECW or beginning of ROH. It's a great time to capitalize on this slade. Sexy Star vs. Charlotte was INCREDIBLE. I love what you're doing with them. That's a great contemporary dream match. I can't wait to see your long range plan here. Kudos man, kudos.

Bravo, glad to see you back in action. SHOCKED to see the Heenan family go down in the opening bout, but Cesaro comes out looking like a beast. Mysterio-Brown is a real contrast of styles, and the GotG changing hands is a real show-stealer. And good luck with that tournament - feel free to one-up me with a triple-elimination bracket!

I echo all of the compliments so far. A great kickoff for the MSD version of Lucha Underground. I may be in the minority, but I liked seeing the Heenan Family do down. It shows Bobby & his gang have going to have to work hard to get to the top here. I was surprised as well to see Mysterio Jr. going over Brown -- but it makes sense. And last, but not least, Star with a successful title defense over Flair was the icing on the cake. Not a fan of her' s at all nor her pappy. So I am looking forward to the next episode of LU!

Not a fan of her [Charlotte] at all nor her pappy. You and I will forever have diverging opinions on this matter...

Life would be boring if we all agreed on everything wouldn't it.
