VS. North American Tag Team Title Match
Edge & Christian vs. Batista & Samoa Joe Sensational Sherri’s team of “The Animal” Batista and the “Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe represent one hell of a super team and might be the biggest challenge that Edge and Christian – arguably the greatest tag team of all-time – have to face. This match begins to the North American Tag Team Champions in control, working well as a team. They make frequent tags and dictate the pace of the match. However, a missed missile dropkick by Edge leads to Samoa Joe giving him a head-and-arm suplex and then tagging out to Batista. They don’t call him “The Animal” for nothing. And Sensational Sherri didn’t anoint him her new King for nothing. Batista comes in and flattens Edge with clotheslines, multiple shoulder thrusts in the corner, a big boot and a wicked spinebuster. Batista and Joe continue their assault on Edge until he’s whipped into the ropes, ducks a clothesline, and takes Joe off of his feet with a spinning heel kick. Moments later, Edge executes an enzuigiri kick, which makes both men tag out. Batista comes charging at Christian, who ducks his running clothesline and then slaps him hard in the face. Batista grabs him by the neck and throws him into the corner. He tries attack, but Christian puts a foot up in his face and then executes a springboard cross body into a lateral press for a near fall. As Christian continues to build his momentum and gets a few close pinfalls, Joe comes in and levels him with a single foot dropkick and then a running senton bomb. Edge comes in and tries to attack him, but Batista cuts him off. Joe continues to focus on Christian. He turns his back to him in the set up for the CSS Enzuigiri, but as he does, Edge reverses a whip attempt from Batista and he knocks over Christian, ended up in place to receive the kick from Joe. Joe is confused and Sherri screams at him. Edge runs through him with a spear! Then, he goes for the ring apron and gets tagged in by Christian. Edge comes in and waits for Batista to get up. He gives him a spear! 1…2…3! Edge and Christian retain the titles thanks in part to some miscommunication from their opponents.
Official Decision: Edge & Christian win by pinfall. ***
VS. The AGPW Mega Powers Explode!
Kurt Angle vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage There’s a long backstory to this one. Kurt Angle and Randy Savage became known as the AGPW Mega Powers after Kurt Angle proved why he has integrity when he did the right thing by showing up to save Miss Elizabeth from being assaulted by Sensational Sherri Martel, who already had her “Animal King,” Batista, put Randy Savage in the hospital. Miss Elizabeth and the Macho Man have had a rocky relationship over the last three years, but it seemed to have patched up over the winter when Miss Elizabeth appeared for the first time in over a year. However, Savage’s penchant for being paranoid and jealous of anyone spending too much time with Miss Elizabeth eventually led to the AGPW Mega Powers exploding. Miss Elizabeth is sitting at ringside, but has announced that she will be in a neutral corner.
Angle controls the opening minutes of the match, keeping Savage grounded with a series of holds. Savage gives Angle the ol’ snake eyes and then drops him with a pair of clotheslines. Savage takes control of the contest, but on an Irish whip attempt, Angle reverses it and executes an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Now, Angle takes control of the match, running through a series of suplexes that leave Savage in terrible shape. Angle goes for the Angle Slam, but Savage slips free and then runs Angle into the ropes for a roll-up. He grabs a handful of tights, but Angle still kicks out. Then, Savage gives him a running high knee lift between the shoulders that sends Angle through the ropes and onto the floor. Savage goes out and slams Angle’s head off of the ring apron and gives him a press slam across the guardrail. Savage starts to rip up the floor mats, but before he can do anything, Angle gives him a series of right hands and then clotheslines him. Angle tosses Savage into the ring and then goes to climb the turnbuckle. Savage meets him at the top and delivers some headbutts and then executes a superplex. He pins. 1…2.. kick out! Savage gives Angle a bodyslam and climbs the top rope. He goes for the diving elbow drop, but Angle rolls out of the way. When they get back up, Angle gives Savage the Angle Slam! 1…2… kick out! You can’t put the Macho Man away that easily.
Angle waits for Savage to get up and then puts him in a rear naked choke, but Savage quickly gets to the ropes to force a break. Then, he gives Angle ol’ snake eyes and grabs him by the skull to give him a hangman across the top rope. Savage slingshots over the top rope and into a lateral press. 1…2… kick out. He complains about the count. He grabs Angle, who brushes him off and lands some punches. Angle goes for a running clothesline, but Savage sidesteps it and sends Angle falling out to the floor. Angle looks to be in a bad way. Miss Elizabeth gets up to go check on Angle. Savage hops out of the ring and moves her. He points his finger at her and blames her for being an ungrateful, cheating turncoat. The referee steps in and Miss Elizabeth runs away. Savage turns his attention back to Angle and sets up for a suplex on the exposed floor, but Angle blocks. Moments later, he gives Savage an Angle Slam on the exposed floor! They go back into the ring and Angle covers Savage, but he kicks out. Angle goes to the top rope and attempts a moonsault, but as always, he misses. Savage bodyslams him and goes to the top rope. He nails the diving elbow drop. He hooks the leg. 1…2… shoulder up! Savage can’t believe it and he’s so mad that he nearly strikes the referee. He climbs the turnbuckle one more time and goes for another diving elbow drop, but Angle rolls to the inside to avoid it and then puts Savage in the Ankle Lock! He crawls around the ring trying to get to the ropes, but can’t reach them. After about thirty seconds, he turns over and tries to kick Angle away, but he holds onto him as his back hits the mat. Angle simply keeps his grip on him and applies a leg scissors. Savage can’t escape and finally taps out! Angle wins! Angle wins! Angle wins!
Official Decision: Kurt Angle wins by submission. ***
VS. "No Mas" Match for the Women's Championship Title
Charlotte Flair vs. Sexy Star Charlotte Flair won the AGPW Women’s Championship at this very same event, last year. This is the 365th day of her title reign and she’s looking to cap her year of dominance by facing her biggest challenge yet: the incredible Sexy Star in a “No Mas” Match. The winner of this match will be the wrestler who makes her opponent say the words “No Mas.” That’s the only rule in this one. Anything goes. This might favour Flair, who is the dirtiest woman in the game. However, Sexy Star’s is perhaps the most confident woman in the game and she’s beaten Flair for the title one before, only to have the referee make the controversial call to reverse his decision.
The match begins with both wrestlers grappling for an advantage. A bit of chain wrestling ends with Sexy Star putting Flair in a side headlock, Flair breaking it and Sexy Star taking the champion down with a tilt-a-whirl headscissors. Sexy Star keeps up her attack with a hurricanrana, running dropkick and a missile dropkick off of the top rope. Flair is looking to escape the onslaught by rolling out of the ring, but Sexy Star stays on her by hitting her with a suicide dive. Sexy Star throws Flair around, but eventually Flair counters a whip and it sends Sexy Star crashing into the ring steps. Then, Flair picks up Sexy Star and executes a vertical suplex transitioned into a swinging neckbreaker on the floor! Flair grabs her title belt and walks over to Sexy Star. Shoving the title belt in her face, Flair tells her that she’ll never be the champion. Sexy Star kicks the belt out of her hands, but that just gets her choked out with Flair’s big boot. Flair takes control of the match and brings the action back into the ring for a little bit. After executing several moves on Sexy Star, she starts trying to force her to quit by applying a variety of submission holds. She tries to put the figure four on her, but Sexy Star constantly blocks it. She won’t give up. Eventually, Flair lifts Sexy Star up onto the top turnbuckle and climbs up to go for a superplex, but Sexy Star shoves her away and then executes a diving tornado DDT that changes the momentum of the match. Now, Sexy Star pulls off a string of moves that culminate with her putting Flair in a Boston crab, but she doesn’t quit and eventually gets to the ropes and crawls out of the ring to force a rope break.
Sexy Star climbs to the top turnbuckle and nails Flair with a diving crossbody. She continues to take her attack to Flair, but she eventually fights back and so they end up brawling down the entrance aisle towards the entrance set. There, Flair wraps some cables around Sexy Star’s neck and knocks her over by shoving a rolling storage container at her. Flair sets up for a piledriver, but fails to take Sexy Star over and gets a back body drop instead. Sexy Star opens the storage container and pulls a fire extinguisher out. She sprays it at Flair’s face. Next, she pulls out a toolbox and hits Flair in the face with it. Sexy Star brings Flair back to ringside and rolls her into the ring. She climbs onto the turnbuckle, but Flair dropkicks her back to the floor. Then, she climbs the turnbuckle and executes a moonsault to the outside of the ring! Flair finds a kendo stick under the ring and uses it liberally on Sexy Star. She rolls Sexy Star into the ring and then applies a figure four leg lock around the turnbuckle post. Sexy Star has no way to escape this move, but she refuses to quit. Flair eventually releases the hold.
Flair finds a table under the ring and brings it into the ring. She sets it up and puts Sexy Star on it, but she rolls off. Flair brings the attack to her. After a sequence of multiple counters, Flair executes a German suplex and then puts Sexy Star on the table. She climbs the turnbuckle, but Sexy Star trips her up. She climbs up the turnbuckle and they engage in a nasty fist fight. At the end of it, Sexy Star puts Flair through the table with a frankensteiner! Flair refuses to give up. Moments later, Sexy Star leaps onto Flair’s back and applies a rear choke, but their size difference fails to bring Flair off of her feet. Instead, she backs into the turnbuckle a few times to break the hold and throws Sexy Star to the mat. Flair goes for a moonsault, but Sexy Star rolls out of the way. When she gets up, she eats a running big boot and then receives Natural Selection! Flair puts Sexy Star in the figure four and she refuses to give up. She bridges it into the irreversible figure eight leg lock! Sexy Star is writhing in pain. The referee puts the microphone in front of Sexy Star and says,
“Fuck you, Charlotte! Fuck you!” Sexy Star reaches out and grabs a section of table legs from the broken table and hits Flair in the legs with it until she breaks the hold. Sexy Star can barely get up. She drags herself to the ropes and uses then to help her to her feet. Meanwhile, Flair grabs a steel chair and climbs back into the ring. She comes at Sexy Star, who superkicks the chair back at her and then applies a cross armbreaker. Flair has nowhere to go and no escape. Finally, she says the words,
“No Mas!” Flair’s yearlong title reign is over! There is a new Women’s Champion in town and it is Sexy Star!
Official Decision: Sexy Star wins when Charlotte Flair says, "No Mas." ***
VS. Loser Leaves Town Match
Bret "The Hitman" Hart vs. Chris Jericho The two biggest Canadian professional wrestling superstars of all-time are set to face each other for the first time ever. However, the circumstances surrounding their encounter are not based on mutual admiration and respect. This isn’t an agreement between friends borne out of the spirit of friendly competition. These are two former allies who’ve turned into bitter enemies and who believe that there is no wrestling territory big enough, in fact no country big enough, for the two of them. The loser of this match won’t just suffer the indignity of having lost a match and the chance to claim himself to be the best Canadian professional wrestler of all-time, but he will have to pack up his gear and leave the company forever.
The match begins with both men trading various holds. They chain wrestle. Bret Hart generally ends up in a more favourable position, but Chris Jericho does a decent job of finding his way of Hart’s holds and putting him in some of his own. Both wrestlers end up trading headlocks and quickly kicking out of headlock pin attempts. This finally comes to a halt when Jericho breaks a headlock by sending Hart running to the ropes. He goes for a spinning heel kick, but Hart has it scouted. He blocks it, captures Jericho’s legs and tries to put him in a sharpshooter. However, Jericho quickly scrambles to the ropes. When Jericho gets back to his feet, he takes a cheap shot at Hart, slapping him across the face. Hart quickly tries to grab him, but Jericho scrambles out to the ring apron and then gives Hart a hangman across the top rope. Jericho pulls him out to the floor and gives him some chops and then goes for a whip, but he ends up slamming into the guardrail instead. Hart runs over and clothesline’s Jericho into the front row. He climbs in and back out of the ring to break the count and then goes to grab Jericho, who thumbs him in the eye. Jericho climbs onto the guardrail, then jumps off and takes Hart down with a hurricanrana. Then, Jericho grabs Hart and gives him a double-underhook suplex. Jericho climbs back into the ring and tells the referee to count Hart out.
Hart returns to the ring on time. He’s met with some chops. Jericho goes for a whip and Hart reverses it, but then Jericho hits him with a flying forearm. Jericho runs to the ropes and hits Hart with a spinning heel kick. Jericho goes for a cover, but Hart kicks out. Jericho picks him up and sends him into the corner. He charges at him and gets a boot to the face followed by a shoulder tackle and then several punches to the head. Hart picks up Jericho and gives him a pair of vertical suplexes. He covers and Jericho kicks out. Hart takes picks up Jericho, who tries to kick him, and then gives him a dragon leg whip and then starts working over Jericho’s leg with varies holds and some seated sentons to his knee. Next, he gives Jericho a pendulum backbreaker and starts to stomp on his lower back. Hart grabs his arms and puts him in a surfboard, but Jericho won’t submit. Hart picks up Jericho and whips him into the corner. He charges in, but Jericho moves and Hart’s shoulder slams into the turnbuckle post. Jericho pulls Hart out of the corner and gives him an inverted vertical suplex. Then, he puts Hart in a Mexican surfboard. He refuses to submit and Jericho has to let go of the hold. Next, he tries to turn Hart over into the Walls of Jericho, but Hart fights him off and gets to the ropes. Jericho tries to attack him while he’s beside the ropes, but gets a back body drop. Then, Hart nails Jericho with a suicide dive!
Hart picks up Jericho and rolls him back into the ring. He climbs onto the ring apron and hits Jericho with a slingshot crossbody into a lateral press for a 2-count. Back up to their feet and Hart gives him a Russian legsweep. Then, he goes to the middle turnbuckle and nails a pointed elbow drop and pins for a 2-count. After that, Hart picks up Jericho and gives him an inverted atomic drop and then a clothesline. Hart covers and gets another 2-count. He signals that he’s going to end it. Hart picks up Jericho gives him another Russian legsweep and then puts Jericho in the sharpshooter. Jericho refuses to quit and eventually gets to the ropes to force a rope break. As Jericho uses the ropes to get up and Hart waits for the referee to let him get back on the attack, AGPW commissioner Dario Cueto is seen walking down to ringside. Hart looks at him walking around the ring, which gives Jericho the opportunity to give Hart a one-handed jumping bulldog takedown and then the lionsault. 1…2… kick out! Cueto takes a seat at the commentary table. When asked what he is doing there, he responds that it is important for him to be here for this historic contest. As that goes on Jericho keeps up the attack. He gives Hart an Irish whip. Hart comes back and takes Jericho down with a crucifix pin for a 2-count. Next, Hart ducks a clothesline and nails a bridging German suplex. 1…2… kick out! Hart picks up Jericho and gives him a fisherman’s suplex. 1…2… kick out! He just can’t seem to put him away.
Hart decides to try to put Jericho in the sharpshooter again, but he gets pulled into a small package pin for a 2-count. Hart goes for a clothesline, but Jericho ducks it and then nails a step-up enzuigiri kick! He covers. 1…2… kick out! Jericho grabs Hart and turns him over into the Walls of Jericho. Hart doesn’t stay in the hold for very long. He gets to the ropes after about 15-seconds. Jericho doesn’t let go and when the referee grabs his arm, Jericho lets go and lifts his arms in the air as if to say he won. The referee tells him that he hasn’t won anything. They argue over the decision. Meanwhile, Hart gets up, runs at Jericho and nails him with a Hart Attack clothesline. He covers. 1…2… shoulder up! Hart takes Jericho into the corner and lifts him onto the top turnbuckle. He seems to be setting up for a superplex, but Jericho blocks and knocks Hart down to the mat. Then, he nails him with a missile dropkick! Jericho covers. 1…2… kick out! Jericho picks up Hart, who pulls him into a backslide for a 2-count. Jericho sweeps his legs and bridges him for two, then Hart lifts up and out of it. Jericho tries for an enzuigiri, but Hart ducks it. As Jericho tries to get up, Hart attempts a swinging neckbreaker, but Jericho spins through. Hart gets up and Jericho drops him with a Codebreaker! He pins. 1…2… shoulder up! Jericho can’t believe it. Frustrated with the referee, and after having argued with him, Jericho attempts to turn Hart over into the Walls of Jericho, but he resists being turned over. Jericho changes it on the fly and steps through. Yes, he puts him in the sharpshooter!
Jericho has it locked in. Cueto jumps up from the commentary table and yells at the referee to call the match. The referee turns to the timekeeper and calls for him to ring the bell even though it looks like Hart isn’t quitting and is in fact tripping up Jericho and reversing the hold. There is some confusion as to what is going on until the announcement is made that Chris Jericho is the winner of the match via submission. Hart is pissed off and spits at Cueto from the ring. Jericho is escorted out of the arena and a large number of security officials surround Cueto to help him leave. The fans are ready to riot. Trash reigns down on Jericho and Cueto as they leave the arena. Hart is cheered and given a standing ovation, although it has become clear that for whatever reason, he’s been screwed out of the win and must now leave AGPW forever!
Official Decision: Chris Jericho wins by submission. ***
VS. Mash-Up World Heavyweight Championship Match
Ric Flair vs. André The Giant Both of these men already wrestled once tonight, before the intermission. André The Giant has all of the momentum going into this match as he defeated Big Van Vader in a No Countout Match to earn this opportunity. “Nature Boy” Ric Flair risks walking into this event with two championship and walking out of it with none if he loses this match. Earlier in the evening, he lost the AGPW International Heavyweight Championship to Cesaro. Now, Flair has to dig down deep to find a way to defeat the unbeatable Eighth Wonder of the World, André The Giant.
Flair spends a lot of time to trying to put off the inevitable. He stalls better than anyone. He runs to the ropes. He leaves the ring. He avoids The Giant at all costs. However, he can’t avoid him forever. Eventually, Flair gets trapped in the corner, stuck between the turnbuckle and the referee, who is trying to push André away. However, his wingspan is so great that he reaches over the referee and a drops an open-hand slap chop down on Flair that leaves his chest red and his lungs gasping for air. André takes it to Flair with an elbow to the forehead a bodyslam and an elbow drop. He pins Flair for a 2-count. André picks him up and whips into the ropes. He gives Flair the world’s biggest back body drop and pins for the longest 2-count of all-time. While the crowd is all abuzz, André questions the referee and Flair punch-drunkenly rolls out to the floor. Flair grabs his title from the timekeeper and bids adieu to this match. However, André was watching him, and so he went out into the entrance aisle to cut off Flair’s escape. Flair is caught like a deer in headlights. He backs up and begs for mercy. Flair backs into the ring apron. André charges and Flair gets out of the way and then strikes André in the back of the head with the World Championship title. The referee tells Flair that he’s disqualifying him, but knocks him out before that can happen. The dirtiest player in the game hits André with the title two more times to knock him down to the floor and then stomps on him. He continues to stomp on him until another referee comes down to the ring and gets Flair off of him. Flair enters the ring and tells the referee to count him out.
The referee starts his count and reaches the count of eight when André gets to his feet and rolls into the ring. Flair pounces on him with elbow and knee drops to the neck and head, preventing André from getting to a vertical base. Flair stomps away at him and rolls him over for a pin. André kicks out with authority, sending Flair flying into the air, at the count of two. Flair runs to the far rope and prevents André from getting to his feet by hitting him with a running dropkick. Then, he puts André in the figure four. He keeps André locked in the hold for about 20 seconds before he reaches the ropes. As André uses the ropes to try to get up, Flair comes over and hammers away at his back with axehandle smashes, but André finally pushes Flair away. Flair runs at him and gets caught in a chokehold. André lifts him high and plants him down with a chokeslam! 1…2… foot on the bottom rope! Wow! That was close. André grabs Flair and whips him into the corner. He charges in and squashes him into the turnbuckles. André picks up Flair and puts him on the top rope. He starts climbing up, but Flair rakes his eyes. He leaps out of the corner right into a bearhug. André squeezes the life out of Flair, but the Nature Boy doesn’t give up. After his arm falls twice, Flair breaks the hold by gauging André’s eyes and then fish-hooking his nostrels. He isn’t called the dirtiest player in the game for nothing!
Now, Flair chopblocks André a few times until he falls down to the mat and he puts him in the figure four leg lock one more time. André is much further away from the ropes this time, but instead of going for a rope break, he forces Flair to do that by using his power to turn it over on him. When Flair gets to the ropes, he slides out of the ring and disappears under it. André heads to the outside to look for him, but he can’t find the Nature Boy. André complains to the referee that Flair is gone. They start to look under the ring, but by this time, Flair has re-emerged and entered the ring from the other side. He runs over and hits André in the side of the head with a baseball slide. Flair tries to continue his attack, but André shoves him away. Flair ends up falling into the referee who in turn falls into the ring steps. Flair runs away from André, who gets attacked by Big Ryck and the Crew. One-by-one, André fights off Dario Cueto’s hired goons, but then he takes a stiff chair shot to the head. That stuns him, but he blocks a second swing and then knocks out Flair with a haymaker. He picks up Flair and tosses him into the ring, but then gets ambushed by the entire Heenan Family. André receives multiple chairshots and then gets a spike piledriver from Vader, Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard. The assault ends with André receiving a pair of Vader Bombs. Flair makes the pin as another referee enters the ring. 1…2…3! Ric Flair has done the unthinkable: he’s pinned André The Giant! He’s faced the most difficult challenger he could imagine and come out on top. Flair is joined in the ring by Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, Vader, Anderson and Blanchard to celebrate. The fans voice their disapproval and rain trash down on them as the show comes to an end.
