Chris Candido vs. “The Iceman” Dean Malenko
On this week’s show, we’re served up a solid, technically sound wrestling match to open up the show. This one features Chris Candido, who is an all-around gifted performer, and “The Iceman” Dean Malenko, who is also known as the Man of 1,000 Holds. Malenko is coming off of a loss to Samoa Joe in his last match, which was a submission match at AGPW’s biggest event of the year, JOURNEY TO GREATNESS. Malenko makes a good case for why he has been coined the Man of 1,000 Holds as he uses many holds to stifle and stymie Candido’s attempts to control the ground game. The match eventually transitions into a suplex clinic. For every suplex that one man pulls off, the other comes back with two. The end of the match almost goes Candido’s way, as Malenko climbs the turnbuckle and gets tripped up when Candido shakes the top rope. He climbs up and sets up for the Blonde Bombshell, but Malenko pushes him away and down to the mat, then he executes a diving hurricanrana. Candido gets up from that and takes a spinning heel kick right to the mouth. After that, Malenko applies the Texas Cloverleaf, which forces Candido to tap out.
Official Decision: “The Iceman” Dean Malenko wins by submission

Taka Michinoku vs. Rusev w/ Maryse Ouellet
This is basically your big man debut squash and poor Taka Michinoku ends up the victim of the Bulgarian Brute’s intense high-impact offense. This match doesn’t last very long. It opens with Taka trying to evade the big man by using his speed to try to knock him down. However, Rusev won’t fall down, not even for one of Taka’s spinning heel kick’s to the chin. Taka tries for a running cross body block, but Rusev catches him and gives him a fallaway slam. That would be the beginning of the end. Some punishing chops, a short-arm clothesline and a vicious jumping side kick are all enough to put Taka down and out of it. However, Rusev doesn’t stop there. He executes a powerful swinging side slam, then stomps down on Taka’s lower back and applies The Accolade submission hold, which forces Taka to submit immediately. When Rusev doesn’t release the hold right away, Taka’s tag team partner, Sho Funaki attacks Rusev. The attack succeeds in getting Rusev to release the hold, but only serves to hurt Funaki, as he falls victim to a jumping side kick and swinging side slam. He appears to be ready to apply The Accolade, but Maryse tells him not to waste his energy.
Official Decision: Rusev wins by submission
Commissioner Billy Two Rivers is in a closed door meeting with The Network’s representative, Cyrus, when the meeting is interrupted as “Classy” Freddie Blassie, “Superstar” Billy Graham and Goldust barge into the room. They all start lobbying Two Rivers to grant either Graham or Goldust a title shot at the International Heavyweight Champion. Two Rivers refuses to grant it on the grounds that neither man is the number one contender, neither of them warrants a shot based upon merit, and both of them want to get the title to destroy AGPW rather than to honour the company for which he would be champion. Unforunately, for Two Rivers, Cyrus is in the room and decides to voice The Network’s opinion that a title match on the next Dynamite Saturday Night would be good for ratings. He also cites the necessity for Cage to defend the title before the end of the month. After some more squabbling, The Network forces AGPW’s hand to do what is best for business – it’s business of garnering television ratings and generating higher advertising revenues. The decision is made to sign a title bout. However, both Graham and Goldust want it. Christian Cage’s challenger is determined by a simple coin toss and Goldust wins it. On the next Dynamite Saturday Night, Goldust will challenge Christian Cage for the International Heavyweight Championship Title.

The Mountie vs. Owen Hart
This is a post JOURNEY TO GREATNESS grudge match between former tag team partners. Owen Hart, under mask and cape, partnered with The Mountie as the Blue Blazer. However, The Mountie did not know that the Blue Blazer was Owen Hart. He felt betrayed by his former crime fighting partner, who also competed against him as an adversary without the mask and cape on, so The Mountie stunned Hart with a cattle prod. The fans are on the Canadian law enforcement officer’s side in this one, as The Mountie seems to have made the very unlikely face turn. Although he’s now a face, at least in this contest, The Mountie continues to take liberties with the rulebook, having not shed the belief that as an enforcer of the law, he is above it. However, the fans cheer him for it. Meanwhile, Hart counters with numerous rulebook violations of his own. It’s basically a contest to see who can cheat the most and get away with it before either earning the victory or being disqualified due to those tactics. Both men score nearfalls, as The Mountie executes a two-handed sit-out chokeslam and, later, Hart executes an enziguri kick that both look like finishers. In the end, when Hart threatens to use The Mountie’s own cattle prod against him and the referee confiscates it, Hart takes advantage of the distraction he has caused to remove a turnbuckle pad while the referee is handing the cattle prod to the timekeeper. Then, he pretends that his face has been smashed into the exposed turnbuckle and accuses The Mountie of cheating. The referee decides to disqualify The Mountie on the spot.
While he protests, Hart leaves the ring, grabs The Mountie’s cattle prod, returns to the ring and stuns him with it! Then, he puts him in the sharpshooter! The referee tries to break it, but is unable to do so. Hart keeps the sharpshooter locked in until a second Mountie runs down to the ring and attacks him! This Mountie looks big and strong and puts a beating into Hart, finishing off his assault with a running sitout powerbomb followed by a senton bomb! After that, he helps the original Mountie to leave the ring.
Official Decision: Owen Hart wins by disqualification

Portia Perez vs. Fabulous Moolah
This one was a more competitive match than some might have expected. Moolah worked over Perez with a series of headlocks. Although it usually took her a long time to break those headlocks, when she did, Perez would go on quick offensive outbursts to throw Moolah completely off of her game. She would hit Moolah with running cross body blocks, clotheslines, dropkicks, spinning heel kicks, and various arm drags (from the traditional to the Japanese to the springboard). After Perez threw Moolah completely off of her game, Moolah decided to exit the ring to regroup. Perez decided to keep the pressure on her and went for a springboard diving cross body press, but Moolah moved and Perez hit the guardrail. After that high risk move backfired, Moolah took over on offense. She did some damage to Perez on the outside before sending her back into the ring. Moolah climbed the turnbuckle and hit a missile dropkick. After a 2-count, she executes a backbreaker and some knee drops to the lower back. Moolah then gave Perez a Moolah whip into the turnbuckles, then dragged her out of the corner for a pin. Perez got a shoulder up just in time. After that, Moolah dropped an elbow on her a few times, then climbed the turnbuckle. When Perez got up, Moolah leapt from the corner onto Perez’s shoulders and executed the victory roll for to win the match.
Official Decision: Fabulous Moolah wins by pinfall
Following the match, Moolah grabs a microphone and cuts a promo aimed directly at Women’s Champion Trish Stratus, recounting the results of their triple threat match at JOURNEY TO GREATNESS, in which it took two women to put Moolah down. However, she notes that neither of them could pin her or force her to submit. For that reason, she claims that Stratus has yet to prove to the world that she can beat her and until she gives her a straight up one-on-one contest for the strap, Moolah will not stop hounding her to put up or shut up.
Stratus enters the arena with Awesome Kong by her side. The Women’s Champion says that she’s done all she needs to prove that she is better than Moolah and that she is the best Women’s Champion of all time. No one thought she could beat Moolah or Gail Kim without help, but she did it all on her own. Stratus has nothing left to prove to her or anybody. She’s tired of hearing Moolah deny the truth and doesn’t want to hear any more of it, so she tells Awesome Kong to deal with it. Kong heads down to the ring. Moolah, the fearless veteran readies herself for a fight. As soon as Kong enters the ring, Moolah attacks, but Kong blocks her attack and strikes back with punishing right hands and then grounds her with a vicious headbutt. As Moolah tries to get up, Kong knocks her back down with a running boot to the side of the head. She grabs Moolah and gives her an Awesome Bomb! As if that wasn’t enough, she climbs to the top turnbuckle and flies off of it, landing on top of Moolah with an Awesome Splash! Moolah looks lifeless as Kong stands over her like a conqueror of nations.

Chris Jericho vs. Shannon Moore
Chris Jericho follows up his pair of victories over “Marvelous” Marc Mero with a match this week against the Prince of Punk, Shannon Moore. This is the exciting, fast-paced action packed cruiserweight contest you would expect from two talented combatants such as these. One might be surprised to note that the match is very evenly contested between these two. There are many counters throughout the match to ensure that neither wrestler holds the advantage for very long. Highlights of the match include a running springboard plancha by Jericho onto Moore and Moore performing a moonsault from the turnbuckle to the floor onto a standing Jericho. Both guys chop the hell out of each other throughout the contest, in additioning to trade multiple kick and suplex variations. The 10-minute contest concludes with Moore going to the top rope, but Jericho getting up and bouncing into the ropes. Jericho climbs the turnbuckle and executes a frankensteiner! He then executes a lionsault that nearly earns him the victory. However, after Moore kicks out of his pinfall attempt, Jericho decides to put him in the Walls of Jericho, which forces Moore to tap out.
Official Decision: Chris Jericho wins by submission
*Commercial Break 5*
We return from our commercial break to find SoCal Val backstage with Sensational Sherri Martel! She hasn’t been seen in AGPW for over four months. We last saw her on February 1 on this very program. At that time, Sherri made an open challenge to anyone to try to end her undefeated streak. She was completely caught off guard by the woman who answered her challenger – Awesome Kong. Sherri suffered her first and only loss that night. However, she has not been seen since then, until now. Val asks her why she was away for such a long time and Sherri tells us that she suffered an injury in her last match, but that she is now back and better than ever. She has a warning for the rest of the women in AGPW –
Sherri is cut off by Chris Jericho, who comes walking into the scene, acting as if he doesn’t realize that Val and Sherri are in the middle of an interview. He pulls the microphone up to his mouth and asks Val if she saw his match and hard fought victory over Shannon Moore just before the commercial break? Then he proclaims that his victory should stand as proof to all of AGPW that Jericho is the best in the world at what he does and the undisputed King of the World! While this is happening, Sherri’s blood slowly boils and she finally lets out one of her trademark screams. Jericho acts surprised, turns to see her and in classic Y2J form, says, “Whoa, whoa whoa, whoa! Settle down, junior!” Sherri screams again and starts throwing punches and kicks that drive Jericho away and off scream. Sherri screams out that no one interrupts her and gets away with it. She promises to make Jericho pay for this!

Cesaro vs. Robbie T w/ Robbie E
Robbie T appears in singles action to take on the Swiss Superman and King of Swing, Cesaro. Unfortunately for Robbie T, he learns first hand why they call Cesaro the King of Swing. Robbie T puts up a good showing in the first few minutes of the match, but Cesaro builds tons of momentum off the strength of a European uppercut used as a counter to Robbie T’s running clothesline attempt in the corner. From that point on, Cesaro dominates and shows us why he may very stronger than Robbie T despite giving up 60-70 pounds to the chiseled club enthusiast. Cesaro gives Robbie T the Cesaro Swing and then earns bigger pops from the crowd when he gives Robbie E a Very European uppercut as he tries to interject. Then, Cesaro serves up another Cesaro Swing, this time to Robbie E. Athough he’s now very dizzy, Cesaro still has the presence of mind to give Robbie T a Very European uppercut and then finish him off with the Neutralizer to secure the pinfall victory. Following the match, Cesaro grabs a microphone from the time keeper’s position and issues a challenge to Rusev for a match at the next Dynamite Saturday Night! Cesaro has a score to settle with Rusev after he cost him his match against Magnus at JOURNEY TO GREATNESS. Tune in next time to find out if Rusev and Maryse will accept the challenge!
Official Decision: Cesaro wins by pinfall

VS.
Samoa Joe vs. Johnny Devine
Samoa Joe continues his winning streak with a quick and impressive victory over Johnny Devine, who never really could get it going in this one. He managed to land a few punches and executed a surprising springboard reverse DDT to get a 2-count on a pinfall attempt. However, the rest of the match saw Samoa Joe beating up on his opponent with ease. Joe won the match by pinfall after executing the muscle buster.
The big story here is that just as the bell rang, “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase and Virgil walked into the arena and watched the match from the entrance set. They never did approach the ring and left immediately following Joe’s 3-count victory. It didn’t appear as though either Joe or Devine noticed they were being watched by another wrestler and his personal assistant.
Official Decision: Samoa Joe wins by pinfall
We switch scenes from the ring to the backstage interview area where Jeremy Borash is standing by with the lovely Miss Elizabeth. Borash asks Miss Elizabeth why we haven’t seen nor heard from the “Macho Man” Randy Savage since JOURNEY TO GREATNESS. Miss Elizabeth tells us that she’s not sure why we haven’t seen him or even where he is right now. He was supposed to come to the arena today but did not show up. She tells Borash that Savage’s personality began to change in the weeks before his match against “Stone Cold” Steven Austin. Ever since the first time he receives the Stone Cold Stunner, his personality slowly became darker. He always seemed to be fuming mad and started to become paranoid. She tried to talk some sense into him and bring him back to reality – to who he really is – but it didn’t work. And, since the night of JOURNEY TO GREATNESS, after the match ended and Savage returned to the backstage area, limping, battered, beaten and defeated, he wanted nothing to do with her. He hurt her emotionally when he brushed her aside and said he didn’t want to see her. Then, he chose to leave alone. He walked out of the Moncton Coliseum on his own and, despite her best efforts to the contrary, she hasn’t seen or spoken to him since.

North American Tag Team Title Match
Leo Burke & Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. Bad Influence w/ “Classy” Freddie Blassie
Leo Burke & Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. Bad Influence w/ “Classy” Freddie Blassie
This match begins with Leo Burke and Christopher Daniels squaring off. Daniels tries to use his speed to his advantage, but Burke thwarts his attempts to employ the running game to his advantage. Burke takes Daniels down with arm drags, hip tosses, a dropkick and even an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Burke tries to work over Daniels’ neck and shoulders, but he soon makes a tag and Kazarian doesn’t fare much better. He gets the same treatment. Piper enters the match and continues to frustrate Bad Influence. Piper remains in steady control of the match until he tries to take Kazarian out of the corner with a running bulldog only to get pushed away and then drops Piper with a running leg lariat. Kazarian tags out and Daniels follows that up by taking Piper down with a running dropkick and then a double underhook backbreaker. He follows that up with a pin, but Piper kicks out. Now, Bad Influence is in firm control of the match. They make several kick tags and take advantage of their brief 5-second windows to do some excellent double team work. However, every attempt to pin Piper fails to achieve a 3-count. Piper is too stubborn to stay down for the count. Piper even appears to turn the tide after he’s hoisted onto the top turnbuckle by Daniels. He goes up and tries for a frankensteiner, but Piper holds onto the top rope. Then he goes for a diving punch, but Daniels connects with a mid-air dropkick that figures to win the match. However, Burke breaks up the pinfall attempt. After some more quick tags and frequent double team efforts by Bad Influence, Piper finally catches a break when he gets whipped into the corner. Kazarian runs in and Piper moves out of the way. Kazarian’s shoulder hits the turnbuckle post! Piper slowly guides himself to his corner by pulling on the ropes to help him get there. Daniels gets anxious and tries to cut off the tag, but is too late. Burke comes in like a house on fire and takes it to both of his opponents. He gives both Daniels and Kazarian spinning heel kicks, gutwrench suplexes and dropkicks. Burke sends Daniels out of the ring with a running clothesline, then counters a hurricanrana attempt from Kazarian with a sit-out powerbomb, but only scores a 2-count on the pin. Burke remains in control of Kazarian and looks like he’s building his offense up for a big finish, when “Classy” Freddie Blassie begins to stir up trouble.
With the referee distracted, Goldust hits the scene. He climbs onto the ring apron to distract Burke while the referee is busy with Blassie. Goldust blinds him by blowing a hand full of tiny gold dust into his eyes! As soon as Goldust gets down, he’s attacked by Christian Cage! They brawl at ringside. Meanwhile, back in the ring, Burke stumbles backwards into a roll-up pin from Kazarian. The referee sees it and counts, but Piper makes the save just in time! Daniels enters the ring and fight is on with Piper, who takes care of both of his opponents before retreating to his corner and looking for the hot tag. A blinded Burke manages to crawl to the corner by following Piper’s voice and stomps and he makes the hot tag. Piper enters the ring and needs to battle another two-on-one situation and he ends up coming out on top, tossing Daniels from the ring and executing a running bulldog on Kazarian to pick up the 3-count and the victory! Leo Burke and Rowdy Roddy Piper retain the titles for now, but “Classy” Freddie Blassie vows that this isn’t the last they’ve seen of Bad Influence as we go off the air.
Official Decision: Leo Burke & Rowdy Roddy Piper win by pinfall
