It’s time for Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN. It’s time to play that old familiar drum beat!
Ed Whalen: Good evening, wrestling fans! Welcome to Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN. I’m Ed Whalen and with me, as always, is my broadcast colleague, Jeremy Borash. Tonight, fans, I think we’re in for a doozy! Jeremy, tell the fans at home what our big main event will be.
Jeremy Borash: Leo Burke will battle “Marvelous” Marc Mero with the winner being named the #1 contender to the International Heavyweight Championship!
Ed Whalen: That’s sure to be a ring-a-ding-dong-dandy! And speaking of the International Heavyweight Champion, “The Iceman” Dean Malenko will be in action, as he defends his title against the heaviest man in Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling – The Angry Amish Warrior, Roadkill.
Jeremy Borash: I don’t think many people would expect Roadkill to be a credible threat to the International Heavyweight Championship, however he has close to a 130 pound weight advantage over “The Man 1,000 Holds”. Who will come out on top? We’ll find out later on in the program. And in another big matchup, Chris Candido will face the always unpredictable Cuban Assassin.
Ed Whalen: But first, let’s go to the ring for our openingt contest, where Frenchy Martin’s hired gun from Tokyo, Japan, Yoshihiro Tajiri will face “Primetime” Elix Skipper.
Jeremy Borash: The Mafia are riding high after their victory over Rowdy Roddy Piper, Junkyard Dog and Bo Dallas, last week. Can they stay in the winning column here? And more importantly, will we get through the entire match without any of those men looking to extract a measure of revenge for their underhanded tactics, which cost Piper, JYD and Dallas the match?
Ed Whalen: Somehow, I think not, Jeremy! Let’s find out!
w/ VS.
Yoshihiro Tajiri w/ Frenchy Martin vs. “Primetime” Elix Skipper
The opening contest is a great matchup pitting these two very exciting, athletic individuals against one another. Tajiri underestimates Primetime, who really brings the fight to him in the opening moments. Frenchy Martin is upset with how fast he came out of the blocks and climbs onto the ring apron to give the referee an earful. Skipper knows that he doesn’t have a valid complaint against him, so he strikes Martin, which knocks him off of the ring apron. When he turns around, Tajiri has loaded up and lets the mist fly, but Skipper ducks and rolls and the referee takes it all in the face. As soon as Skipper gets to his feet, Tajiri drops him to the mat with a savate kick that hits Skipper directly under the chin. Although he’s blinded and unsure of where he’s at, the referee immediately calls for the bell, awarding the win to Elix Skipper via disqualification. However, Skipper can’t celebrate because Tajiri still wants to fight. He’s got Skipper down and pummels away on him before slapping on a blatant two handed chokehold.
Official Decision: “Primetime” Elix Skipper wins by disqualification
Cue up Rowdy Roddy Piper’s run-in for the save. He charges into the ring. Martin is there and swings his Québec flagstick at Piper, but he leans out of the way, then rips it out of Martin’s hands and drops him with one swing of the flagstick. He breaks it over his knee, then turns around and takes a nasty kick to the side of the head. Tajiri picks up Piper and gives him a brainbuster. And as if that wasn’t enough, he takes him over to ropes where he locks on the Tarantula until a group of AGPW referees come down and break it up. This war is far from over!

VS.
Sho Funaki vs. Chris Hero
This is a rather exciting match, with both men mixing a good combination of aerial maneuvers, mat work, and foot strikes. Funaki is a tough match for Hero and gives him some stiff Kung Fu Naki kicks throughout the entire affair, but Hero’s feet and elbow strikes prove to be just a little more effective at wearing out his opponent. The end of this entertaining bout sees Funaki set up for a crane kick, after a failed pin attempt. Hero gets up and Funaki goes for it, but Hero catches his foot and then drops Funaki with a vicious clothesline. He follows that up with a jumping senton bomb and pins, but only gets a 2-count. After that, he picks up Funaki and gives him the Hangman’s Clutch Facebuster and covers him for the win.
Official Decision: Chris Hero wins by pinfall
SoCal Val is with “Marvelous” Marc Mero and SoCal Val. She asks them for their thoughts on tonight’s #1 contender’s match. Candice Michelle immediately begins by protesting the absurdity of booking such a match, when Mero ‘clearly’ deserves to be anointed the #1 contender for having pinned the International Heavyweight Champion’s shoulders to the mat for a full 3 seconds, two weeks ago. She takes a page out of Test’s book and cries about how Chief Morley is a crooked authoritarian with an axe to grind and who enjoys abusing his power. Mero sounds off on Leo Burke and claims that he could defeat the veteran with one arm tied behind his back. He claims that all he needs is one punch and it’ll be lights out for Burke. He says that he’s going to punch his ticket into a title match with a total knockout victory tonight!
*Commercial Break 2*
VS.
Tyson Kidd vs. Shannon Moore
There’s some more exciting, high-flying action in this match. Both men put on a good show, displaying their ability to execute offense by taking to the air. The match is fast, with very few rest spots. No one gains a period of extended offense, as counters and missed attacks are quite common throughout the entire affair. The matches spill outside for a few moments, thus allowing Moore to nail Kidd with a huge springboard senton bomb into the entrance aisle for the spot of the night! However, he fails to capitalize on that big move and Kidd gets right back into the match after it returns to the ring. The match comes to an end when Kidd gets Moore trapped in the Dungeon Lock and forces him to submit. It’s a good showing from Kidd, who rebounds from the loss he suffered in his debut match.
Official Decision: Tyson Kidd wins by submission
SoCal Val is with Test, who we haven’t seen in two weeks. She asks him about his absence last week. He tells her that it is none of her business. Then, he says that he might never be able to take another week off again because, in what has become all too routine, the Chief of Staff has made another decision to screw him over and keep him away from the International Heavyweight Championship. He continues by noting that he was conveniently left out of the #1 Contender’s Match, noting that “Marvelous” Marc Mero wasn’t the only guy who beat the International Heavyweight Champion a couple of weeks ago. He himself was also victorious against Dean Malenko and Leo Burke. He continues by claiming that it is wrong to have a loser like Leo Burke get his spot in the #1 Contender’s Match and then promises to right that wrong. When asked what he means by that, he ignores the question and walks away.

VS.
International Heavyweight Championship Match
“The Iceman” Dean Malenko vs. Roadkill
“The Iceman” Dean Malenko vs. Roadkill
Dean Malenko is tasked with defending his title against the biggest possible challenger in all of AGPW. Roadkill holds anywhere from a 100-130 pound advantage over the International Heavyweight Champion. However, that doesn’t stop the “Man of 1000 Holds” from finding an effective offensive strategy to keep Roadkill from destroying him. He keeps the big man grounded by focusing on his legs. However, when deciding to give Roadkill a move with a bit more impact, so as to really keep him down, he fails. Malenko decides to go for a tornado DDT from out of the corner, but Roadkill just tosses him to the mat and drops down on him with a running body splash. Having taking over control of the match, Roadkill goes to work, using his size to his advantage and really putting the hurt on the champion. He tries to win the match with some pinfall attempts, but Malenko kicks out of all of them. An attempt at a running avalanche splash into the corner by the challenger gives Malenko the perfect opportunity to get out of the way and get back into the match. He gets out of the corner and then takes Roadkill to the mat with tilt-a-whirl headscissors. Malenko immediately follows that up by going for his legs, but Roadkill kicks him away. Roadkill gets up and runs into a drop toehold. Malenko locks on the Texas cloverleaf. This draws Roadkill’s tag partner, “Dastardly” Danny Doring, into the ring. Malenko sees him and lets go of Roadkill. Doring charges and ends up receiving a side belly-to-belly suplex! Malenko kicks him away, out to the floor. Roadkill gets up and Malenko dropkicks his knee, which brings him down to one knee. Then, Malenko dropkicks him in the back of the head. He locks on the Texas Cloverleaf one more time and gets the Angry Amish Warrior to tap out.
Official Decision: “The Iceman” Dean Malenko wins by submission
We go backstage to find Rowdy Roddy Piper beating down the Chief of Staff’s door. He’s as angry as can be and he demands to have a one-on-one match against Tajiri. Moreover, he wants to throw the rule book out the window. Chief Morley agrees to his request and so at PRIMETIME LIVE it’ll be Rowdy Roddy Piper versus Yoshihiro Tajiri with the stipulation of No Disqualifications added to the match!
*Commercial Break 4*
SoCal Val is with Leo Burke to get his thoughts on tonight’s #1 contender’s match. He begins by promising a victory tonight and says that the ultimate revenge against Mero for ruining his prior chance at winning the International Heavyweight Championship will be to defeat him in a match that grants him another shot at the International Heavyweight Championship. He goes on to say that he is so focused on getting his chance to prove that he can defeat Dean Malenko in a fair bout, with no outside interference, and that nothing and no one can stop him. Not the Marvelous One and certainly not Candice Michelle.
VS. w/
The Cuban Assassin vs. Chris Candido w/ Sunny
The Cuban Assassin jumps the gun by attacking Candido while he’s holding the ropes open for Sunny to exit the ring. He pummels him, rakes the eyes and back. He gets Candido caught in a corner and puts the boots to him. He sends him across the ring and charges in for a clothesline, but Candido moves and the Cuban Assassin hits the turnbuckle hard. Candido nails him with a dropkick that sends him falling through the ropes and onto the floor. Candido goes to the outside and the two men brawl around ringside with the Assassin getting the better of their exchange before sending him back into the ring and going for the first fall attempt of the match. The Cuban Assassin keeps up on the offense and wears Candido down with a series of power moves. However, again, Candido’s speed proves to be a game changer when The Cuban Assassin tries for a back bodydrop, only to have it countered into a sunset flip for a 2-count. Candido fights his way back into the match and steadily builds momentum. He hits the Assassin with nearly everything he’s got and then goes to the turnbuckle and nails him with the New Jersey Jam. He covers, but can’t get the 3-count as The Cuban Assassin Jr. pulls the referee out of the ring and decks him.
He comes into the ring and gets into it with Candido. He delivers some hard blows to Candido, but he eventually fights back and starts knocking him around the ring. Meanwhile, Cuban Assassin Sr. has had the chance to exit the ring and has grabbed Sunny and is carrying her away from ringside. Candido disposes of Cuban Assassin Jr. from the ring and then looks around for Sunny and sees her being carted off against her will. He’s too far away to do anything, but quickly exits the ring anyway.
Just as Cuban Assassin nears the exit, he’s met with a spinning Hangman’s Elbow from Chris Hero! The Cuban Assassin immediately falls down, as he’s been knocked out cold. Hero helps Sunny up as Candido arrives. He shoves Hero away and checks on Sunny. Once he realizes that she’s alright, he turns to Hero, apologizes for shoving him, thanks him for the save, and then they shake hands.
Official Decision: Chris Candido wins by disqualification

Ed Whalen: Welcome back fans, our big main event is coming up in just a few short moments. But first, I want to take a moment to let you know that Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN will be pre-empted next week – Saturday, August 31 – for a special airing of the 2013 Golden Retriever Club of Canada Specialty and the Maritimes Golden Retriever Club Regional Specialty Competitions, featuring all of the top golden retrievers on the dog show circuit today! That event will broadcast live throughout the afternoon and have a special replay beginning at midnight. If you’re in the Halifax area on August 31, why not see the event live at Exhibition Park. Visit sites.google.com/site/mgrcretrieverclub/golden-retriever-club-of-canada-national-specialty for more details. Now, let’s get back to the wrestling action. It’s time for our main event. AGPW is set to name a #1 contender to the International Heavyweight Championship – wait a minute! What’s this?
“Killer” Karl Krupp goose steps his way down to the ring unannounced. He’s not scheduled to appear here, tonight. However, he enters the ring and demands a microphone. He tells the crowd to shut up and let him talk, which only makes them more vocal. He, in turn, responds by ripping into them for a few moments. Then, Krupp says that he’s come here to give one lucky person in Charlottetown the chance of a lifetime – the chance to try to make him look like a fool and to earn a cool $25,000 while doing it. All he would have to do is spend 10 seconds in the Iron Claw. Yes, Krupp is here to issue his Iron Claw Challenge. He surveys the audience, but no one steps forward, probably because they all saw how crooked last week’s challenge was. Upset that Charlottetown is populated by nothing by a bunch of cowards, Krupp challenges anyone from the back to come out and try their luck. When no one comes out, Krupp’s anger boils over. He hops out of the ring and grabs the first person he sees in the front row and yanks him over the guardrail. He clotheslines him to the floor, then stands him up and locks on the Iron Claw. The man screams out for Krupp to stop it as a number of officials and security personnel descend on the scene to break it up. Krupp lets go of the man and flings a referee into the ring post before bodyslamming another onto the floor. The other referees scatter to a safe distance. Krupp salutes and then goose steps away from ringside, having done enough damage for the night.

International Heavyweight Championship #1 Contender’s Match
Leo Burke vs. “Marvelous” Marc Mero w/ Candice Michelle
Leo Burke vs. “Marvelous” Marc Mero w/ Candice Michelle
The International Heavyweight Champion, “The Iceman” Dean Malenko, joins Ed Whalen and Jeremy Borash in the broadcast booth for this one. They ask Malenko if he favours either opponent to win. He has no favourites in terms of competition. He says he’ll beat either one of them. However, he favours Leo Burke to get another chance after his last shot was marred by Marc Mero and Test. Speaking of Test, Malenko has heard his comments from earlier in the evening and vows to make sure that Test doesn’t interfere in the match. He says that he’ll leave the broadcast booth to confront him in the event that he tries to involve himself in the match.
As far as the in ring action goes, Leo Burke is on fire to start. He’s all over Mero, who can’t seem to get a move in edgewise. Burke is firmly in the driver’s seat until Candice Michelle trips him up as he runs to the ropes. He gets up and confronts her. She claims to be innocent. While they’re bickering, Mero finds the opportunity to get to his feet. He comes up from behind Burke and takes him down with a German suplex and then he sees down on Burke and gives him several fists right to the kisser. Now, Mero is in charge and he slows the pace down while choosing his moves deliberately to weaken Burke’s head and upper body. Mero is a bit too overzealous to try to finish the match when he lifts Burke onto his shoulders for the TKO. Burke gets out of the hold and hits Mero with a European uppercut that causes him to stumble back into the ropes. Burke charges at him, but gets bodydropped over the top. Candice Michelle comes around and starts kicking Burke in the ribs while Mero keeps the referee’s attention. Mero goes outside and picks up Burke. He gives him a few chops and then decides to send him into the guardrail, but Burke counters the Irish whip attempt and Mero crashes into it. Burke charges in and catches him with a jumping knee lift to the abdomen. Burke punches at him some more when Candice Michelle comes over grabs him his hand to prevent him from landing any more shots on Mero. Burke shifts his attention over to her. The referee comes down and upon hearing Burke’s complain, decides to ban Candice Michelle from ringside. She has a tantrum. Meanwhile, Mero rakes Burke’s eyes and gives him a low blow before pushing to the ground. Mero notices that the referee is ordered Candice Michelle away, so he goes over to protest. While that’s happening, we go to our final commercial break.
*Commercial Break 7*
We return to our main event to find Burke has Mero in a rear chinlock and Candice Michelle has been removed from ringside, so it is now an event fight. Mero gets to his feet and breaks the chinlock with some elbows to the stomach and then a bionic elbow to the forehead. Mero takes Burke down with a suplex. He picks him up and gives him another one and then pins him. He gets a 2-count. Mero on the offensive for a little bit until he decides to go to the top rope and attempt a Merosault. However, Burke moves out of the way to avoid it. When they both get up Mero charges at Burke and lands a knee into the mid-section and then drops an elbow across the back of the neck. He goes for a whip, but Burke reverses it. He goes for a dropkick, but Mero clutches the ropes to avoid it. When Burke gets back up, Mero tries to hit him with a running clothesline, but Burke ducks it, then lifts him up into a spin-out powerbomb and hooks the leg, but Mero gets a shoulder up. Burke picks him up and attempts a normal powerbomb, but Mero punches him a few times and then counters it with a hurricanrana he hooks both legs, but Burke kicks out before three. Mero runs to the ropes and takes Burke down with a crucifix pin, but again Burke kicks out of it. Mero grabs him and tries for a suplex, but Burke blocks it and pulls off one of his own. They’re both a bit slow to get up. They exchange blows until Burke starts hitting some in succession, but then his momentum is halted with a thumb to the eye from Mero, who follows it up with a swinging neckbreaker. He pins, but Burke gets a shoulder up. Mero eyes up the turnbuckle and climbs it again. Burke gets to his feet and tries to run over. Mero does a moonsault and lands on his feet. He charges at Burke, who is standing in the corner. Burke gets a foot up in his face and goes for a bulldog, but Mero ducks it. Burke turns to face him and gets tackled with a spear. Mero with the pin attempt, but Burke gets his shoulder up!
Mero picks him up and goes for a whip. Burke tries to counter, but then Mero just swings him all the way around and sends him into the opposite corner, where Burke ends up sandwiching the referee between himself and the turnbuckle. Mero pulls him out of the corner and gives him a German suplex. Noticing that the referee is down, Mero decides to go outside and grab a chair. He brings it into the ring. He approaches Burke as he’s getting up. Mero lifts the chair to hit him, but Burke grabs both of his legs and drops him onto the mat, then rolls through with a clutch pin. 1…2…3….4….5… it should be all over, but there’s no referee! Burke goes to check on the referee. While he’s doing that, Mero grabs the chair and gets up. Burke turns around to see Mero running towards him. Burke dropkicks the chair back into Mero’s face! When he gets up he sees the chair being tosses at him. Burke catches it and eats a running big boot that smashes the chair into his face! It’s Test!
Test picks up Burke and gives him the Test Grade, then he flees the ring as he sees Dean Malenko running down to the ring. Test hops the guardrail to make his getaway through the crowd, with Malenko in pursuit. Mero clears the ring of the chair and yells at the referee to wake up. He pins Burke and the referee crawls over into position. 1…2…3! “Marvelous” Marc Mero wins the match and will go onto PRIMETIME LIVE as the #1 contender to the International Heavyweight Championship!
Official Decision: “Marvelous” Marc Mero wins by pinfall
Ed Whalen: What we just saw was a travesty! Leo Burke has had yet another match stolen from him due to outside interference!
Jeremy Borash: He can’t catch a break, lately. And with that loss, it means that “Marvelous” Marc Mero will challenge Dean Malenko for his International Heavyweight Title at PRIMETIME LIVE.
Ed Whalen: One other match for PRIMETIME LIVE was signed, tonight, Jeremy. Rowdy Roddy Piper will face Yoshihiro Tajiri in a No Disqualification match.
Jeremy Borash: That’s sure to be an incredible contest. Normally, I’d say that those rules favour Rowdy Roddy Piper. However, given the circumstances of Tajiri’s affiliation with Frenchy Martin and the Montréal Mafia, I’m thinking that asking for a No Disqualification match was a bad decision on the part of the Hot Rod.
Ed Whalen: I guess we’ll find out on September 21 at PRIMETIME LIVE. We’re out of time, fans. Don’t forget that next week, we’ll be pre-empted in favour of the 2013 Golden Retriever Club of Canada Specialty national championship competition. Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling will return to the airwaves in two weeks. Until then, in the meantime and in between time, we wish you a bon adieu.
