It’s time for Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN. It’s time to play that old familiar drum beat!
Ed Whalen: Good evening, wrestling fans! Welcome to Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN. I’m Ed Whalen, and this is Jeremy Borash. Tonight, we have quite a show in store for you. The main event, especially, looks like it is guaranteed to be a ring-a-ding-dong-dandy!
Jeremy Borash: Yes, Ed, tonight’s main event will be a huge 6-man tag team match featuring Frenchy Martin’s Montréal Mafia and Yoshihiro Tajiri facing Rowdy Roddy Piper, the Junkyard Dog and Bo Dallas!
Ed Whalen: There are some other exciting matchups on tonight’s card, but none that can top that one.
Jeremy Borash: Yes, I’m very excited for that main event. We all know the long-standing rivalry between the North American Tag Team Champions and the team of Junkyard Dog & Bo Dallas, but a more recent rivalry has emerged between the champs and their new ally, Tajiri, and Rowdy Roddy Piper.
Ed Whalen: That rivalry began 3 weeks ago when the Montréal Mafia were guests on the Piper’s Pit and the Hot Rod was pressing them on the subject of Tajiri’s interference in the North American Tag Team Title match at PRIMETIME LIVE one week earlier. They got fed up with his line of questioning and before you knew it, Piper was blinded by green mist and the Piper’s Pit set was being torn apart by Tajiri!
Jeremy Borash: Then last week, Frenchy Martin was gloating about Piper’s supposed hospitalization and began to rip into the American fans here in Portland, which drew out the Junkyard Dog, Bo Dallas, and Rowdy Roddy Piper, proving that he was in fact 100% and ready for a fight.
Ed Whalen: And so that fight will happen, here, tonight! But before we get to it, we’ll have some other important contests to see, including a match pitting Team Canada’s Petey William & Eric Young against Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch and it is for the #1 contendership to the North American Tag Team Championship.
Jeremy Borash: Plus, will we see someone step up to the Iron Claw Challenge? “Killer” Karl Krupp has promised to pay $25,000 to anyone who can withstand 10-seconds in the hold without tapping out or begging for mercy.
Ed Whalen: I guess we’ll have to just wait to find out. It all happens tonight on Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN. Now, let’s go to ringside for our opening match of the evening!
Before we can get on with tonight’s show, “No Class” Bobby Bass is out to hold up tonight’s proceedings. He won’t give the fans the satisfaction of watching tonight’s show unless they get a chance to watch him cripple one of the other AGPW wrestlers, right now! He’s got a very big temper and it’s boiling over from having been left out of AGPW’s booking plans for the last several weeks. So, he tells Chief Morley to send him one of the cowards hiding out in the back for him to feast upon. He really couldn’t care less who it is. Of course, maybe, he ought to have thought twice about claiming not to care who it is, because answering Bass’ challenge is none other than…
Ezekiel Jackson vs. “No Class” Bobby Bass
If Bass is afraid of this Guyanese man beast, he doesn’t show it. He attacks Jackson before the bell. Surprisingly, he pummels Jackson until he’s down on one knee. Then, he brings him to his feet and goes for a whip, but Jackson reverses it and then takes him over with a huge back body drop. Jackson backs him into the corner, where he gives him a stiff clothesline and then clubs him repeatedly with his huge arms, knocking Bass down into the mat. Jackson then brings him out of the corner and gives him the Book of Ezekiel and pins him for a very quick and dominant victory in our opening contest. After the match, Jackson grabs a microphone and says that he’s going to DOMINATE Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling and that he’s going to cause a lot of pain and suffering on his way to top. He says that what Bobby Bass just experienced is nothing compared to what others will have to endure if they try to stand face-to-face with him in the ring.
Official Decision: Ezekiel Jackson wins by pinfall
We go backstage to find a camera trained on Candice Michelle, who is leading “Marvelous” Marc Mero in some warm up stretches. He’s not scheduled for a match, tonight, but I guess they want to be prepared in the event that he finds himself in one. They’re talking about how Mero pinned the International Heavyweight Champion, Dean Malenko, last week and they seem to agree that pinning the “Man of 1000 Holds,” means that he must be declared the undisputed #1 contender to the International Heavyweight Championship. Candice Michelle tells Mero that they’re going to demand that Chief Morley makes it official later in the evening. Mero thinks that’s a wonderful idea.

VS. w/
Johnny Devine vs. Antonio Cesaro w/ Maryse Ouellet
The match begins with an offer to shake hands, from Antonio Cesaro. Devine is sceptical of his intent, so he’s hesitant to do it. Maryse raises his voice at him, yells some obscenities in French, and tells him to shake Cesaro’s hand. Devine goes to shake hands, then pulls away and runs his hand through his long golden locks (taking a page out of Ric Flair’s playbook). Then he poses for the crowd, but likely regrets this decision because Cesaro attacks from behind and gets an early advantage in the match by taking advantage of Devine’s desire to show off to the crowd. Cesaro focuses largely on the head and neck of his opponent. However, before long, Devine gets back into the contest by countering a back body drop set up into a sunset flip. After Cesaro kicks out, they get up and Devine nails him with an enzigurri kick, which scores another near fall. Devine begins to dictate the pace of the match until he goes to the top rope and attempts a moonsault that Cesaro avoids. When they both get up, Devine charges at Cesaro and goes for a hurricanrana, but he counters it with an implant powerbomb and holds it for the pinfall. The ref counts to two, then notices Cesaro’s feet on the middle rope, so he stops the count. They argue about it as Devine gets up. Cesaro attacks with a few uppercuts and then gives him a delayed gutwrench suplex. He covers for a 2-count. Cesaro picks up Devine and whips him into the ropes. He goes for a clothesline, but Devine ducks it. Devine comes back off of the other ropes and goes for what looks like a flying forearm, but is lifted into the air and nailed with the Very Euroean Uppercut! Devine looks like he’s out cold. Cesaro picks him up and executes the Neutralizer. He covers for the 3-count and the win.
Official Decision: Antonio Cesaro wins by pinfall
We go backstage and find Chavo Guerrero going through his warm-up routine, when Al Snow and Head enter the scene. Snow tells Chavo that he’s got some good news for him. They have a tag team match, tonight, against the Jersey Shore. He tells Chavo that he managed to get a few strings pulled for them down at the Chief of Staff’s office and now they’re booked for a tag team match, tonight, against the Jersey Shore. Chavo tells Snow that he already knows about the match. Snow seems a bit confused and then draws the conclusion that Morley, being the nice guy that he is, called Chavo to let him know about the match as soon as Snow left their meeting. Snow tells Chavo that he has to go get in his ring gear and that he’ll be back soon to discuss strategy.
*Commercial Break 2*
Chief Morley comes down to the ring to make a very special announcement. He says that he’s proud to announce that the second edition of PRIMETIME LIVE will take place on Saturday, September 21, live from St. John, New Brunswick! Furthermore he notes that the winner of tonight’s tag team #1 contender’s bout will receive their title shot at PRIMETIME LIVE. Then, he turns to the topic of determining who the #1 contender for the International Heavyweight Championship will be. He’s heard the talk that it should be “Marvelous” Marc Mero, in light of the fact that he successfully pinned Dean Malenko for a 3-count in last week’s main event. However, he notes that this was only done after Malenko was hit by a steel chair, twice, and took a knockout blow from a fist adorned with brass knuckles. In light of those facts, he doesn’t think that Mero has an ironclad case for being the #1 contender.
And it is those words that bring “Marvelous” Marc Mero and Candice Michelle out to confront the Chief of Staff. They both tell Chief Morley that no matter what method you use to determine who the #1 contender is, Mero’s name is the one that comes out on top and that’s why you can’t question his claim to be the undisputed #1 contender to the International Heavyweight Championship. Morley says that he’s found sufficient reason not to just proclaim Mero the #1 contender. In addition to the things he’s noted before, he reminds us that Leo Burke still hasn’t received a fair shake and that it was Mero himself who put an end to Burke’s title chances. Mero looks smug and proud of himself for it. Morley says that in order for justice to be served, Burke deserves another chance to be the #1 contender. Mero and Candice Michelle protest. Then, Morley announces that to resolve the issue, “Marvelous” Marc Mero will face Leo Burke for a shot at the International Heavyweight Championship at PRIMETIME LIVE! Mero and Candice Michelle aren’t happy about it, but the Chief of Staff’s decision is final!
*Commercial Break 3*
SoCal Val finds Leo Burke and asks him for his reaction to Chief Morley’s announcement from just moments ago. Burke’s reaction is mostly positive and he’s happy that he’s going to get a chance to become the #1 contender and an opportunity to pay Mero back for costing him his shot at the gold two weeks ago. Burke also looks forward to denying Mero the chance to face the International Heavyweight Champion at PRIMETIME LIVE.

#1 Contender’s Match
Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch vs. Team Canada (Williams & Young)
Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch vs. Team Canada (Williams & Young)
The number one contenders match begins with attempts by both teams to gain an advantage. Petey Williams and Eric Young both have trouble trying to knock Trevor Murdoch off of his feet. Murdoch laughs at them and urges them to keep trying, but they have no luck until Williams tags out to Young and he hits a springboard clothesline to knock down Murdoch. He gets right back up and Williams chop blocks him to knock him right back down. Cade tries to get in the ring to stop Team Canada in its tracks, but the referee steps in and that gives them an opportunity to give Murdoch a double-team suplex and stereo dropkicks. Young and Williams go to work on Murdoch for a little while, but a failed splash attempt by Williams gives Murdoch the chance to tag out. Cade comes in and takes the fight to both guys. However, he tries to suplex Young, and he slips out the back and lands on his feet. Cade turns around and receives a standing dropkick. When Cade gets back up, he’s immediately put back down with a springboard tornado DDT from Williams. He covers, but Murdoch breaks it up. All four men go at it in the ring. Murdoch clubs Williams with a hard clothesline and then kicks him out of the ring. Then, he goes to save his partner from Young, who is climbing the turnbuckle. Murdoch runs over the ropes and bounces off of them, which causes Young to fall onto the top turnbuckle. Murdoch climbs the turnbuckle to go for a superplex, but Young hooks the top rope to block and fights back. He gets Murdoch to fall down to the mat with a headbutt to the chest! Then he pulls off a moonsault, but he can’t register the pinfall because Cade pulls him off of Murdoch. Cade picks him up and gives him the Redneck Bomb. He can’t follow it up because Williams pulls off a tilt-a-whirl Russian legsweep and then gives him the Canadian Destroyer! The referee reaches the count of three just moments before Murdoch’s lunging double axehandle smash makes contact with Williams. Team Canada wins the match and is declared the #1 contenders to the North American Tag Team Titles.
Official Decision: Team Canada wins by pinfall
*Commercial Break 4*
We come back from commercial to find SoCal Val with Frenchy Martin and his Mafia. She asks him about tonight’s main event. Martin rips the microphone out of her hands and tells her to get lost, as Mad Dog threatens to strike her. Val disappears and it turns into a classic ‘80s heel stable interview where Martin runs down the face team, while Mad Dog, Bravo and Tajiri make a lot of noise while they slap each other, in the background. Martin promises that that the Mafia will win, Piper will wish he never pissed him off, and the Junkyard Dog & Bo Dallas will suffer another loss to the Mafia, this one more embarrassing than the last because it’ll be in front of their compatriots on their home country’s soil! Our 6-man tag team main event is still to come!
Ed Whalen is in the ring where he announces that it is now time for “Killer” Karl Krupp’s Iron Claw Challenge. Krupp goose steps his way down to the ring. The big, imposing monster from Mannheim, Germany enters the ring, where he stares down Whalen from behind his monocle. Whalen appears to be a bit intimidated, but he greets Krupp, anyhow. Krupp says that he’s not here to exchange pleasantries with Whalen, but to inflict an untold amount of pain on whichever foolish imbecile in the audience or in the back wants to earn $25 000 by trying to spend more than 10 seconds in his Iron Claw. With that, he invites anyone in the building to enter the ring.
A plain clothed audience member pushes his way up to the guardrail and volunteers for the challenge. He comes into the ring. Whalen asks his name and he gives us his name and says he’s from here in Portland, Maine. He tells Whalen that he doesn’t believe that the Iron Claw will hurt. This wipes the evil grin off of Krupp’s face and he immediately attacks him, hitting the young adult in the neck with his riding crop, thus knocking him off his feet, and then locking on the Iron Claw. Within two seconds, the local challenger frantically slaps the mat with both of his hands, but Krupp shows no mercy. He keeps the hold locked onto him for as long as it takes him to count to ten. When he finally lets go of the hold, he gets up and kicks his failed challenger a couple of times before flashing a wicked grin at the camera, then he tells Whalen to give him the microphone. Krupp challenges anyone who dares to mock him or his Iron Claw to step forward for the Iron Claw Challenge. Then, he salutes the crowd and goose steps out of the ring.

SoCal Val is with Rowdy Roddy Piper, Junkyard Dog and Bo Dallas and asks them for their thoughts going into tonight’s 6-man tag team match. Junkyard Dog doesn’t think that the Mafia are ready to juke or jive and he says that none of them can survive the Thump. Bo Dallas says that the Mafia won’t defeat his team and he vows to make the American fans here in the arena proud by defeating Frenchy Martin’s Montréal Mafia. Finally, Rowdy Roddy Piper says that he can’t wait to get his hands on the Mafia, Martin, and most of all, Tajiri. He’s going to show them why it is a mistake to cross a Scotsman. He’s boiling over with rage and it’s going to spill all over Frenchy Martin’s Montréal Mafia, tonight! This 6-man tag team main event is coming up after the next break, but first…
VS.
Al Snow & Chavo Guerrero vs. The Jersey Shore
The Jersey Shore are out first and Chavo and Al Snow get separate entrances. Chavo comes to the ring and then it is time for Al Snow to arrive. However, his music plays all the way through without him coming to the ring. Chavo is left to wonder what has happened to Snow. He seems upset, as if he’s assumed that Snow stood him up for this tag match. The Jersey Shore pounce and double team Chavo to begin the match. This gives them the early advantage. Robbie E takes control and does some damage, all the while showboating. His attempts to play to the crowd, or possibly annoy him, receive a negative reaction. He tags out and lets Robbie T come in and give Chavo some high impact power moves. However, attempts to pin Chavo are unsuccessful. Robbie E tags back in and Chavo works a comeback against him. After giving him the Three Amigos suplexes, Chavo heads out to climb the turnbuckle. As he’s climbing up, he stops his ascent when he sees…
… Maryse, Magnus and Antonio Cesaro walk out with Al Snow, who is completely tied up in rope and his face looks bruised, battered and cut just at the eyebrow. The distraction is enough to cause Chavo to get attacked by Robbie T and a press slam from the top turnbuckle to the mat. Robbie T follows that up with a stiff lariat and then he gives Chavo the Freakbuster. Instead of pinning him, Robbie T tags out and lets Robbie E come in and execute the Shore Thing. He pins Chavo for the win.
Official Decision: Jersey Shore wins by pinfall
After the match ends, Cesaro and Magnus toss Al Snow into the ring. Maryse takes a microphone and tells Chavo that her scheduled meeting with Al Snow was so productive and fun that everyone who was there – her, Magnus, Cesaro and Snow – lost track of time. They didn’t mean to cause Snow to be late for his match and she offers him an insecure apology. Maryse, Magnus and Cesaro leave ringside, with Snow all tied up and Chavo knocked out from his handicapped match.

6-Man Tag Team Match
Montréal Mafia & Tajiri w/ Frenchy Martin vs. Rowdy Roddy Piper, Junkyard Dog & Bo Dallas
Montréal Mafia & Tajiri w/ Frenchy Martin vs. Rowdy Roddy Piper, Junkyard Dog & Bo Dallas
The match starts with Piper, JYD and Dallas quickly leaping into the ring and attacking Martin’s team. The referee can’t get a handle on it, as all six men duke it out inside of the ring. However, one-by-one, Vachon, Bravo and Tajiri end up getting flung out to the floor, leaving Piper, JYD and Dallas in the ring to bask in the adulation of the crowd. The Mafia are hesitant to enter the match and Martin tells the referee that his guys won’t get back into it into he’s gotten the other team into its corner. He finally gets Dallas and JYD onto the ring apron, and it is at that point that Bravo jumps Piper from behind and starts working him over with big clubbing forearms, punches, chops, and bodyslams. He gives Piper a shoulderbreaker and then synchs in a shoulder wrench on him, and then a standing shoulder lock and tags out. Vachon brings his dirty and illegal offensive maneuvers into play before tagging in Tajiri, who continues the focus on Piper’s shoulder with various holds and kicks directed at it. Piper continues to get worked over as we go into our final commercial break of the evening.
*Commercial Break 7*
We come back from commercial to find Piper is still being beaten up on. Now, the Mafia members are growing frustrated as they execute moves and try to score a pinfall victory. However, Piper has no quit in him. Mad Dog tags in Tajiri, and he immediately climbs the turnbuckle. Mad Dog sets up for a piledriver, but Piper resists being lifted and he pulls off the back body drop reversal. He turns around and sees Tajiri, who goes for a flying clothesline, but Piper ducks out of the way and runs to the ropes. Tajiri lands on his feet after the missed attempt, and Piper takes him down with a single hand leaping bulldog. Piper rolls over to his corner and tags out. Dallas comes in and he’s on fire. He attacks Tajiri and takes him down with a few clotheslines in succession. Bravo comes in and tries to attack, but Dallas sees him coming and gives him a side belly-to-belly suplex. Mad Dog comes back in and takes him down with a hair pull whiplash. JYD charges into the ring and knocks him over with a hard clothesline. JYD grabs Mad Dog and throws him through the ropes, and then follows him out to the floor to continue the fight. Dallas is trying to get up and Tajiri nails him with a shining wizard! He pins, but Piper breaks it with a double axehandle to the back. Bravo takes the fight to Piper and clotheslines him over the ropes, then follows him to the outside to continue the fight. Meanwhile, Tajiri looks to be ready to finish the match. He tries to lift Dallas up, but he flips over the backside and executes a falling STO backbreaker. He pins, but Tajiri just gets a shoulder up to break the referee’s count. Dallas picks him up and sends him into the corner. He puts Tajiri up on the top rope, but can’t climb up to do anything to him because Mad Dog stops him. However, Dallas disposes of him with a few right hands and then a lariat to knock him down. He goes back to the corner and starts climbing, but then gets a face full of green mist from Tajiri! Dallas drops down to the mat and without seeing where he’s going, walks right into a knee strike below the belt and a piledriver from the Mad Dog. Then, Tajiri leaps off of the turnbuckle and lands a senton bomb. He covers Dallas as Piper tries to make the save, only to be blocked by Mad Dog. JYD is nowhere near to stop the count, as he and Bravo are been busy brawling all over the area floor. The referee counts to three on Dallas. JYD continues to pummel on Bravo into he hears the announcement that his team lost the match. Martin’s men are making their way through the crowd to find Bravo and they run into JYD. There is a brief standoff between the various parties, but then they each pass by and continue in opposite directions without coming to blows.
Official Decision: Montréal Mafia & Tajiri win by pinfall
Ed Whalen: There you have it, fans. It’s an unfortunate outcome for Rowdy Roddy Piper, Junkyard Dog and Bo Dallas.
Jeremy Borash: This has been an evening marked by its highs and its lows. Most of the highs were in the earlier part of the evening, but after Team Canada became the #1 contenders to the North American Tag Team Titles, it was pretty much all downhill from there.
Ed Whalen: That’s right. It began we’ve seen a number of unsatisfying events from that point on, beginning with “Killer” Karl Krupp’s vicious and unwarranted attack on a young man with absolutely no professional wrestling training whatsoever.
Jeremy Borash: And then we saw Al Snow, who had been beaten and tied up by Magnus and Antonio Cesaro, leaving Chavo to get beaten by the Jersey Shore in a match that shouldn’t have been a handicap match, and then, of course, the main event victory by the Montréal Mafia and Tajiri.
Ed Whalen: However, fans, it has been announced that the next PRIMETIME LIVE will happen on Saturday, September 21. We already know that the Montréal Mafia will defend their titles against Petey Williams and Eric Young of Team Canada. However, we can also confirm that Magnus and Antonion Cesaro will face Al Snow and Chavo Guerrero.
Jeremy Borash: And that’s just the beginning. There will be more great matches added to the event in the weeks to come. Fans, thanking you for joining us for this edition of Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN. We’ll see you next week, when Leo Burke faces “Marvelous” Marc Mero to name the #1 contender to Dean Malenko’s International Heavyweight Title!
