It’s time for Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN. It’s time to play that old familiar drum beat!
Ed Whalen: Good evening to our fans from all over the Atlantic region. Welcome to Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN! I’m Ed Whalen and alongside me is my partner Jeremy Borash. We’re in Portland, Maine. This is our first stateside venture and everyone is really excited to be here!
Jeremy Borash: Yes, Ed, these are exciting times to be in Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling. The company is expanding its presence into previously unvisited regions, such as here in the beautiful and picturesque state of Maine. Moreover, many new faces and big names are starting to pop up on the Grand Prix circuit.
Ed Whalen: That’s right. In the last few weeks alone, we’ve seen Antonio Cesaro, Yoshihiro Tajiri, the Killer Bees, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Tyson Kidd, “Killer” Karl Krupp, and Randy “Macho Man” Savage, to name a few. This week promises to showcase more big names appearing in an Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling ring for the first time.
Jeremy Borash: That’s right, Ed. This week, we’ll see the long awaited debuts of Chris Hero and Ezekiel Jackson. Both of those men are very exciting and dangerous competitors, but for very different reasons. They couldn’t be more different in the ring.
Ed Whalen: But they get the same results, which is namely that they both know how to win.
Jeremy Borash: Chris Hero is an accomplished striker with amazing feet and even more impressive elbows. He can strike from out of nowhere, so you have to watch out for him when you’re facing him in the ring. Ezekiel Jackson, on the other hand, doesn’t have the speed that Chris Hero has and he won’t surprise you with strikes from out of nowhere, not like Chris Hero can, but he possesses a freakishly superhuman amount of raw power, which enables him to simply dominate his competition.
Ed Whalen: I’m excited to see both of them in Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling. In other exciting contests, we’ll see Elix Skipper versus Magnus and the North American Tag Team Champions, the Montréal Mafia, making their very first title defence, as they step into the ring against Kaientai.
Jeremy Borash: We have all of that and more coming your way, for the first time from the USA, tonight, only on Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN!

North American Tag Team Title Match
Montréal Mafia w/ Frenchy Martin vs. Kaientai
Montréal Mafia w/ Frenchy Martin vs. Kaientai
We start tonight’s show with a bang as the tag titles are defended right off the bat! Both of these teams competed in the fatal fourway match to decide who would become the tag team champions, just three weeks ago. The match starts out quickly with Kaientai’s speed being too much for the Montréal natives to handle. TAKA and Funaki make quick tags and show off their athleticism and willingness to take risks by using the ropes and getting airborne as much as possible. Their double team moves are calculated and targeted to achieve maximum effect against Vachon. Bravo breaks up a few pins to keep the champions in the running. TAKA tags out to Funaki and they make a miscalculation on a double team attempt, as TAKA brings Vachon to his feet and hooks his arms from behind. However, Bravo comes in and clubs him in the back of the neck, causing him to release Vachon, which means that Funaki’s missile dropkick nails his partner! After he gets up, Bravo gives him a few hard blows to the head and then throws him over the top rope, before returning to the apron in anticipation of a tag. Vachon tags out and Bravo comes in and uses his power to hurt TAKA until Funaki, who is the legal man, returns to stop it. However, he isn’t in control of things for very long, as Canada’s Strongest Man uses his power to get the better of Funaki and pick up the win for the tag champions in their first title defence, after an airplane spin, followed by a fireman’s carry slam.
Official Decision: The Montréal Mafia wins by pinfall
After the match, Frenchy Martin grabs a microphone to give us a medical update on Rowdy Roddy Piper. According to him, the Scotsman is still in ICU, hooked up to life support at a hospital in Moncton and that we shouldn’t expect to see him any time soon. He proclaims that Piper got exactly what he deserved for insinuating that the Montréal Mafia didn’t win their titles, fairly. Listening to the negative crowd reaction, he decides to start laying the insults in on the American fans, which draws out the Mafia’s archrivals, Junkyard Dog and Bo Dallas! They storm the ring in defense (American spelling applied) of the USA. However, the multi-national battle grows in size when the Japanese Buzzsaw, Yoshihiro Tajiri comes to the aid of his Mafioso brethren, serving up a chair shot to the JYD and spitting green mist in the face of Bo Dallas. A 3-on-2 beat down ensues until we hear the sound of BAGPIPES! Everyone stops what they’re doing to watch Rowdy Roddy Piper marching to the ring with a purpose, as he removes his leather jacket, t-shirt and kilt and jumps in the ring for a fight. It’s basically 3-on-1, but Piper doesn’t give a crap, and he’s inviting them to come at him. He takes them all on, and does a good job of standing his ground for the first few moments, but the Mafia’s advantage in numbers eventually turns the tide, until the JYD and Bo Dallas recover and get back into the fight. Piper, JYD and Dallas get the better of Frenchy Martin’s men and he calls for his forces to retreat. The Scots and the Americans stand tall over the Japanese and Québecois at the end of this one, but you can bet that this war is far from over!

VS.
Chris Hero vs. Tracy Smothers
This match is Chris Hero’s long awaited debut. It basically only happens to showcase his offensive, which consists largely of various foot and elbow strikes. However, he also incorporates some high-risk maneuvers into his arsenal. Smothers finds a brief moment where he’s able to take control and dictate the pace of the match, but it is very fleeting and Hero regains the edge relatively quickly. After he’s hit Smothers with everything he wanted, he finishes him off with his Hangman’s Elbow and picks up the pinfall victory.
Official Decision: Chris Hero wins by pinfall
We go backstage, where SoCal Val is with the AGPW International Heavyweight Champion, “The Iceman” Dean Malenko. She wants to get his thoughts about what transpired in his match against Leo Burke, last week. Malenko states that he thinks that Leo Burke was robbed of his title shot and would gladly give him another so as to prove to everyone that he can beat Atlantic Canada’s favourite wrestler. He says that there is very little to say about Test. He thinks of him more as a nuisance than anything else. The bulk of his scorn is saved for “Marvelous” Marc Mero for his cowardly attack on him. He doesn’t take too kindly to anyone who blindsides him. “The Iceman” says that he’s heard Mero’s message loud and clear and he wants to get his hands on him tonight.
*Commercial Break 2*
We come back from the commercial break to find SoCal Val ready for another interview. She’s with Chris Candido and Sunny, who haven’t been seen since PRIMETIME LIVE on July 20, where he lost an opportunity to become the first AGPW International Heavyweight Champion. Val asks them about the loss at PRIMETIME LIVE, to which Sunny says that there’s nothing to say. It is old news and they don’t want to dig up the past. Candido says that he’s here to focus on the present and the future. The present will see him wrestle Shannon Moore tonight and he promises a victory. The future will see him return to the top of the pyramid to get another shot at the big prize and he promises that he won’t miss twice.
Just then, Chris Hero happens to be passing through the set. He stops and congratulates Candido for finding enough courage to finally come out from hiding after losing the big one at PRIMETIME LIVE. He tells him that most of the guys in the back were starting to think that they’d never see him and Sunny in AGPW again. Candido wants to know what he’s talking about, and Sunny feels insulted and doesn’t appreciate his backhanded compliment. Hero says that he didn’t mean to hurt their feelings and wishes them good luck for Candido’s match later in the night.
VS.
The Killer Bees vs. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch
Before the Killer Bees come to the ring, Cade & Murdoch take a moment to get on the microphone and express their displeasure with regard to being snubbed for a shot at the tag team titles, tonight. The way they figure it is if they lasted longer than Kaientai in the fatal fourway match, then they should be given priority for a shot at the titles. You can’t argue with their logic. In any case, they draw the very popular Killer Bees as their opponents, tonight. Blair & Brunzell are hot off of their debut victory two weeks ago and hope to gain some momentum with another win here. The match is pretty competitive and fast-paced. Both teams look good, but Cade & Murdoch do a wonderful job of disguising and hiding their dirty, underhanded and illegal maneuvers from the referee. That seems to be the difference maker as many illegal moves, including some illegal substitutions without a tag, make it so that the Killer Bees can never sustain their momentum and ride it all the way to the finish line. In the end, it’s Cade & Murdoch who emerge victorious after Murdoch executes the Ace of Spades on B. Brian Blair.
Official Decision: Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch win by pinfall
*Commercial Break 3*
“Marvelous” Marc Mero and his personal trainer, Candice Michelle, come down to the ring. Candice Michelle gets on the microphone and speaks for Mero. She says that she’s heard the rumours that have been circulating all week – that Leo Burke is angry and that he now has a personal vendetta against Mero. She’s heard that he blames Mero for his disqualification loss to Dean Malenko. She thinks his anger is misdirected. Mero didn’t cost Burke the win last week. Burke cost himself the win by worrying more about what Test was doing than trying to put the champion away. According to her, Burke has nobody to blame but himself. She hands the microphone over to Mero, who says that he heard Dean Malenko was also upset with him. In fact, he’s heard that Dean Malenko wants a fight tonight. Mero is ready and says that he will gladly accept a challenge to wrestle Malenko for his title.
However, the Chief of Staff, Sean Morley, comes out to tell Mero that he won’t have a title match tonight because Malenko hasn’t formally requested a match against Mero. Since that hasn’t happened, he’s here to announce that he has different plans for Mero, tonight. Mero speaks up and says that he’s unwilling to accept anything less than a match against Dean Malenko for his title. Chief Morley reiterates that it won’t happen, to which Mero responds that he’s making a grave mistake. Morley asks if that’s a threat and Mero says that it isn’t. It’s a fact.
And that’s when Morley gets blindsided by Test. He’s busy beating on the Chief of Staff, but Leo Burke and Dean Malenko are quick to storm the ring. They come to the Chief’s rescue. Mero tries to help out Test, but Burke and Malenko scare him off. Test tucks his tail and flees from the ring. Burke and Malenko help Morley back to his feet. He grabs the microphone and immediately announces that tonight’s main event will be Dean Malenko & Leo Burke versus Marc Mero & Test!

w/ VS.
Magnus w/ Maryse Ouellet vs. Elix Skipper
This is a pretty competitive match. Both men get turns with the advantage. Skipper eventually settles in and gains the momentum. He’s hitting a series of moves and appears to be in cruise control. However, things turn against “Primetime” when Maryse decides to get involved in the proceedings, on behalf of her client. She places the ring bell on the apron and then distracts the referee, allowing Magnus to give Skipper a low blow. Magnus grabs the bell and swings it at Skipper, but he ducks the attempt and then knocks Magnus out with a back heel kick. He clears the bell from the ring and covers, but the referee is still pre-occupied with Maryse.
Skipper gets up and goes to confront her, but gets attacked from the side by Antonio Cesaro, who lays into him with some stiff shots. He grabs Skipper to set up for the Neutralizer, but he has to abandon the attempt when he sees Chavo and Al Snow storm the ring. The referee finally turns to see that things have devolved into a brawl. He immediately calls for the end of the match and signals for back up to break it up.
Official Decision: No Contest
*Commercial Break 5*
SoCal Val is with Mannheim, Germany’s “Killer” Karl Krupp, who tells her that he’s largely unimpressed with the quality of the competition in AGPW. He claims to be able to crush anyone with whom he steps into the ring. Furthermore, he says that he can incapacitate anyone with his claw hold – from the likes of TG Stone (like he did last week), all of the way up to the International Heavyweight Champion, “The Iceman” Dean Malenko. The eccentric, cape-wearing and monocle-adorned brawler puts forward the Iron Claw Challenge: if you can survive 10-seconds in the Iron Claw, he will personally pay you $25,000.
VS. w/
Shannon Moore vs. Chris Candido w/ Sunny
This is a match that starts out quickly, as both of these men happen to be rather fleet of foot. They run the ropes and Moore also uses them as a springboard to execute some of his offense. However, the match reaches a stage in which they slow down and transition into some technical wrestling. Moore surprises with his ability to chain wrestle, but on the whole, he is purely outmatched by the far more technically gifted Candido, who really works on Moore’s lower back. The match picks up again when Candido prematurely tries to end it by taking Moore into the corner to give him the Blond Bombshell powerbomb from the top rope, only to have Moore reverse it with a frankensteiner. They both get up at about the same time and Candido tries to knock him down with a clothesline, but Moore ducks it and brings him down into a backslide for two. They get up and Moore ducks a wild lariat attempt and takes him down into a crucifix for two. When they get up again, it’s Moore who drills Candido in the head with an enzigurri kick. He pins, but Candido just gets his shoulder up. Moore scoops him up and gives him a bodyslam. He climbs the ropes and goes for a somersault senton bomb, but Candido gets out of the way. When they both get up, they trade a few punches and chops, before Moore racks the eyes and runs to the ropes. He goes for a springboard back flip cross body block, but Candido catches him and flips him around into a titl-a-whirl backbreaker that gets him a 2-count. Candido picks him up and gives him a pair of snap suplexes. He goes to the corner and flies off, connecting with the New Jersey Jam leg drop. He pins and picks up the victory.
Official Decision: Chris Candido wins by pinfall
*Commercial Break 6*
Ezekiel Jackson vs. TG Stone
Ezekiel Jackson is absolutely dominant in his AGPW debut. He lives up to the moniker of being a vicious predator inside of the ring as he throws Stone all over the ring like a rag doll. Jackson makes easy work of his opponent and, after multiple high-impact moves that cause Stone to suffer a lot of damage (including his signature Book of Ezekiel), he finishes Stone off by forcing him to submit to the torture rack. Stone has been absolutely destroyed and may not be able to compete in another match for a long, long time to come.
Official Decision: Ezekiel Jackson wins by submission
We find Al Snow and Chavo Guerrero talking about how they stopped Antonio Cesaro and Magnus from putting Elix Skipper on the shelf. They talk about how they still have a score to settle with those guys. Chavo says that maybe it would be a good idea for them to get some practice working together as a tag team for when they eventually get the chance to get their hands on Cesaro and Magnus inside of the ring. Snow seeks Head’s opinion and, apparently, she agrees with Chavo, so Snow tells Chavo that he knows a guy who can get them a tag team match as early as next week. Chavo asks him who this guy is and Snow says that it’s Chief Morley. He’s got special access to the Chief of Staff’s office. Anytime he asks for a match, he gets it. Chavo tells him that he gets matches because it is Morley’s job to give him matches. Snow begs to differ because he knows that there are guys, like Test, who never get anything they want, so he believes that he has special privileged access to the Chief of Staff’s office and he promises Chavo that he’ll use his hook up to get them their tag match, next week. Snow and Head take off to go visit the Chief of Staff, while Chavo is left rolling his eyes.

VS. w/
Dean Malenko & Leo Burke vs. Test & “Marvelous” Marc Mero w/ Candice Michelle
Our main event starts off hot with the champion and the man who challenged him just last week, Dean Malenko & Leo Burke, respectively, rushing to the ring and attacking Test & Marc Mero. Test meets Malenko head on, but Mero tries to get away from Burke who sends him over the ropes and onto the floor. Burke chases Mero around the ring. Meanwhile, Malenko and Test are really slugging away at each other, but the much smaller Malenko is starting to struggle in the pound-for-pound battle of fisticuffs, so he attempts to whip Test, only to have it reversed and end up hitting the turnbuckle hard, chest first. Mero slides into the ring, with Burke close behind, drawing Burke right into a running big boot from Test. Mero jumps around with his arms high above his head in celebration, as if he’s just won the match, until the referee gets him into his corner. The referee also directs the International Heavyweight Champion onto the ring apron and the match officially begins, with Test taking the fight to Burke. Test and Mero look like they’ve been teaming for years, as they make several quick and smart tags to keep the fresh man in and to keep wearing down Burke. Malenko can do nothing but hope that Burke pulls off something from out of nowhere and gets to his corner to make the tag. Mero and Test really do a number on Burke, who plays the role of Ricky Morton for far longer than most face-in-peril extended beat downs tend to last. It all culminates in Burke receiving a full-nelson slam from Test, who then tags out to Mero. He climbs the turnbuckle and goes for the Marvelocity, only to land on Burke’s knees! Despite landing on Burke’s knees, Mero is still the first man up. He goes to pick up Burke, but he pulls him down into a small package. Mero kicks out at two. Burke tries to crawl over to his corner, but Mero grabs him by the foot and drags him back. Burke manages to kick him in the face to break free and starts crawling away again. Mero runs over to stop him, but Burke makes a tag with a desperation leap to the corner. Malenko comes in and fires away with the fists and chops on Mero. He sends Mero into the corner, then runs in and lands a jumping cross body splash. Malenko puts Mero in a headlock and climbs up to a seated position on the top turnbuckle and then executes a tornado DDT. He covers, but Mero just gets a shoulder up. Malenko picks up Mero and gives him a gutwrench backbreaker, then covers for two. Malenko sends Mero into the ropes and takes him down with a leg lariat. Mero hits the mat so hard that he bounces back up to his feet. He’s in a daze, which allows Malenko to grab him from behind and execute a bridging German suplex. Mero has enough wherewithal to get his shoulder up before the 3-count. Malenko picks up Mero and puts him in position to execute a powerbomb, but Test comes in and hammers him in the back. He gives him some heavy blows until the referee manages to interject. While the referee tries to get him back into his corner, Mero gives Malenko a low blow. Mero gets to his feet and picks up Malenko into a fireman’s carry. Before he can give him the TKO, Malenko wiggles free. Malenko tries to dropkick Mero down, but he blocks, then grabs Malenko by the legs and catapults him into the turnbuckle. Mero grabs him from behind and gives him a side belly-to-back suplex. He pins, but Burke jumps in and breaks it up with a boot to the back of Mero’s head. This draws Test into the ring. The referee becomes pre-occupied with restoring order by trying to get Test and Burke out of the ring. While he’s distracted, Mero picks up Malenko and uses him as a punching bag. Candice Michelle hands Mero some brass knuckles, which he puts on and then gives Malenko his finale punch, the Kiss That Don’t Miss haymaker! Mero throws the knuckles back to Candice Michelle and pins the International Heavyweight Champion. However, the referee doesn’t see it and by the time he gets called over and gets in position to make the count, Malenko recovers just enough to get a shoulder up at two!
Mero is livid. He gets into an argument with the referee. Test screams at him to forget about it because Malenko is slowly crawling away to his corner. However, Mero won’t hear any of it. He wants to be declared the winner. As a consequence, the champion tags out to Burke who comes in and runs over Mero with a shoulder block takedown. Test comes back into the ring and charges at Burke, only to get tosses across the ring with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Burke sizes up Test and charges at him, but gets back bodydropped to the floor. Then, Test gets tripped from behind and pulled out of the ring by Malenko, who kicks him and drops him with a clothesline. Then, he goes down after receiving a slingshot body press from Mero! They all get up and brawl at ringside. The referee tries to get any two of them back into the ring. While he’s dealing with Mero and Burke, Malenko and Test end up near the timekeeper’s position. Malenko whips Test into the guardrail. He charges at him, but Test grabs the timekeeper to use as a shield and Malenko clocks him with his running dropkick! Malenko checks on the timekeeper, opening him up to a chairshot across the back, and a second one while he’s down! Test throws Malenko back into the ring. He climbs the turnbuckle and gives him a flying elbow drop. He covers. The referee comes in and nearly reaches three, but Burke just makes the save. Burke and Test go at it. Burke backs Test into the ropes and goes for a clothesline, which takes them both over the top and out to the floor. Meanwhile, Mero re-enters the picture and sees the lifeless “Iceman” on the mat. He picks him up, gives him the TKO and then covers him for the 3-count!
Official Decision: Test & “Marvelous” Marc Mero win by pinfall
Ed Whalen: Unbelievable, Jeremy! The International Heavyweight Champion has been pinned and defeated in tag team main event!
Jeremy Borash: You have to believe that “Marvelous” Marc Mero and Candice Michelle won’t let us forget that Mero has pinned the champion. This will only lead to more pressure and added weight to their demands for Mero to receive a shot at Dean Malenko’s title.
Ed Whalen: Yes, but let’s not forget that the champion was only pinned after receiving two steel chair shots to the back and the Kiss That Don’t Miss while Mero was wearing brass knuckles!
Jeremy Borash: You won’t hear an argument from me, Ed. I don’t think anyone is arguing that Mero & Test’s victory isn’t tainted.
Ed Whalen: Well, wrestling fans, it has certainly been an eventful evening here in Portland, Maine. We’ll be back next week for another edition of Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN, also south of the border in Portland, where we can expect “Killer” Karl Krupp to stage his Iron Claw Challenge.
Ed Whalen: Also, Ed, I’ve just received word from the Chief of Staff’s Office that next week’s main event is going to be a big 6-man tag team match with Rowdy Roddy Piper, Junkyard Dog & Bo Dallas facing the North American Tag Team Champions, the Montréal Mafia, and Yoshihiro Tajiri! Ladies and gentlemen, you’re not going to want to miss that one!
Ed Whalen: Indeed you won’t, wrestling fans! It’s sure to be a ring-a-ding-dong-dandy! However, in the meantime and in between time, this is Ed Whalen, with Jeremy Borash, wishing you a bon adieu!
