It’s time for Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN. It’s time to play that old familiar drum beat!
Ed Whalen: Good evening, Atlantic Canada! And welcome to Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN! I’m Ed Whalen and I’m joined by my broadcast colleague, Jeremy Borash. We have a great show lined up for you, tonight. What’s on tap, Jeremy?
Jeremy Borash: Tonight, we’ll see the in-ring debuts of Antonio Cesaro, Tyson Kidd and the Japanese Buzzsaw, Yoshihiro Tajiri. Plus, we have a pair of tag team matches coming your way, as Kaientai will face the Jersey Shore and Team Canada’s Petey Williams and Eric Young will take on the Cuban Assassins.
Ed Whalen: Those tag team matches sound like they will be fun to watch. What else might we see, tonight?
Jerermy Borash: Well, the International Heavyweight Champion and the North American Tag Team Champions are all here. Plus, Test has been spotted in the building and he has an on-going issue with the Chief of Staff, Sean Morley. Last week, Test told SoCal Val that Morley was a dead man, and told the International Heavyweight Champion, Dean Malenko, to watch his back.
Ed Whalen: Yes, it sounds like Test will be looking for a little bit of retribution, tonight.
Jeremy Borash: I wouldn’t be surprised if he is. However, the wildcard in all of this is “Marvelous” Marc Mero. Last week, at the conclusion of his match, both he and his personal trainer, Candice Michelle, both made it very clear that he has designs on taking Malenko’s title from him.
Ed Whalen: It certainly has to raise your interest in the International Heavyweight title picture should the two of them decide to get involved. Anything could happen, tonight. Fans, let’s go to ringside and get started with tonight’s show!
Test comes to the ring and starts the night off with a rant about how the entire world is conspiring against him. According to him, the only logical conclusion is that everyone is jealous of the fact that he’s grossly superior to them and that several actors have come together to try to bring him back down into the middle of the pack – where those very same actors reside. Amongst them are the Chief of Staff, Sean Morley, and the International Heavyweight Champion, Dean Malenko. Although he’s got his problems with Morley, that problem will now take a backseat to a more pressing issue, which is that of The Iceman’s completely unwarranted attack against him. Test hasn’t forgotten that Malenko said that he’d defend his title against anyone, but that the Man of 1000 Holds didn’t answer his challenge. So, again, he’s putting the challenge out there.
This draws “Marvelous” Marc Mero and his personal trainer, Candice Michelle, to the ring. Mero grabs a microphone and says that he’s not here to disrespect Test, but he wants him know that he himself is the most deserving candidate for a shot at the International Heavyweight Championship. Test disagrees with him and tells him not to try to get in his way of the title or else he risks getting hurt. Mero tells Test that he’ll knock him out if that’s what it will take for him to earn a shot at Malenko’s gold. Both men get in each other’s faces and appear to be getting close to coming to blows, but that doesn’t come to pass as the next man out is…
… the International Heavyweight Champion, himself, “The Iceman” Dean Malenko. He stops in the entrance aisle and tells them that he’s come here to reiterate that he won’t turn down any challenge. Then, he says that if they both want a piece of him, he says “Yes!” Absolutely, he’ll face both of them, and he doesn’t care if it’s today or tomorrow, if he faces them at the same time or one at time, if both matches are on different nights or on the same night, or if he faces them today, tomorrow, or both of them right now, because the result will always be the same – a win for “The Iceman.” Both Test and Mero are happy to hear that Malenko won’t step down from their challenges – but disagree that he can beat either of them – and they’re both ready to go tonight, but…
… Chief Morley is here and he’s here to bring this entire episode to an end by telling everyone involved that there will be no title matches tonight. Instead, he thinks that there should be a match to determine the #1 contender to Dean Malenko’s International Heavyweight Championship. As he’s getting ready to announce who the participants will be, he’s interrupted by the arrival of…
… Leo Burke! He says that neither Test nor Mero is more deserving of a shot at the International Heavyweight Championship than he is. He says to Morley that he doesn’t need to hold a #1 contender’s match to determine who the #1 contender is. He says that the fan’s choice and the true, unbiased choice is Leo Burke. The crowd proves his point by giving him a giant pop. Both Test and Mero deny his claim and tell Morley that Burke is full of crap. Morley wants to know why he thinks he should get the first shot at Malenko. Burke replies by telling him that, no disrespect to Malenko, but his win over him in the title tournament was tainted by an assist from René Duprée and Sylvain Grenier and that were it not for them, it stands to reason that Malenko may not have won that match and gone on to win the title. Morley says that he has a good point and that there should be no doubt as to who the better man really is – Dean Malenko or Leo Burke – so he announces that tonight’s main event will be Dean Malenko vs. Leo Burke, with the title on the line. Morley’s decision proves hugely popular in front of Burke’s hometown fans, but very unpopular with both Test and Mero. They protest Morley’s decision, but the Chief of Staff’s decision is final.

VS.
Tyson Kidd vs. Tajiri
This is a great match to kick start the evening’s action. Both men have a lot of energy and use a lot of speed and exciting high-risk maneuvers to keep a brisk pace to the flow of the match. The match even spills out to the floor for a time being, which is to Tajiri’s advantage, as he’s more adept at brawling than the technically gifted last graduate of the Hart Family Dungeon, Tyson Kidd. Tajiri takes Kidd out with a springboard moonsault while he’s standing. He gets up and takes the fight to him with stiff chops to the chest and kicks to the calves. Tajiri goes for a whip, but it is reversed and he slams into the guardrail. Kidd goes to grab him, but Tajiri buries a knee into his abdomen before giving him a side Russian legsweep into the side of the ring steps. Tajiri returns Kidd to the ring and perform a springboard senton bomb. He hooks Kidd’s leg, but he kicks out. Tajiri picks him up and backs him into the ropes. He gives him some more chops, then whips him across the ring and follows him in with a handspring back elbow and then locks him into the Tarantula and breaks the hold before the referee can count to five. Tajiri grabs Kidd and looks to lift him up, but Kidd blocks his attempt, gives him a few shots to the ribs and takes Tajiri over with a vertical suplex. While Kidd is getting up, Tajiri tries to connect with a buzzsaw kick. However, Kidd sees it and just manages to duck out of the way. Then, he gets up and connects with an enzigurri kick. He pins, but Tajiri kicks out. Kidd starts to build momentum with a series of kicks and pulls off a few more high impact moves in succession, such as a springboard frankensteiner, springboard elbow drop and a spinning fisherman neckbreaker, but he can’t keep Tajiri down for more than two seconds. As it seems like Kidd finally has the match in hand, he applies the Dungeon Lock. However, before he can get Tajiri to tap out, Frenchy Martin and the Montréal Mafia run some interference on his behalf. Martin provides the distraction for the North American Tag Team Champions to enter the ring and do enough damage to Kidd to turn the match back over to Tajiri, who gives Kidd a brainbuster and pins him for the win.
Official Decision: Tajiri wins by pinfall
After the match, Tajiri is joined in the ring by Frenchy Martin and the Montréal Mafia, who gets on the microphone and says that, as he understands it, Rowdy Roddy Piper couldn’t be here tonight because he’s still in a hospital trying to recover from an unfortunate accident that he had on the Piper’s Pit, last week. On behalf of the Montréal Mafia, Martin wants to wish Piper, “a slow and painful recovery.”

Biff Wellington vs. Antonio Cesaro w/ Maryse Ouellet
This is basically just a showcase for Cesaro. He puts on a display of classic catch wrestling and high-intensity power moves, with a decidedly European flavour. He doesn’t play around. He takes the fight to Wellington and performs each move to maximum effect, until he finally finishes him off with the Neutralizer. He wins the match in around 3-minutes. After the match, Cesaro is joined by Maryse and Magnus in the ring. Maryse gets on the microphone and says that the world outside of Atlantic Canada is so much bigger than the fans could ever dream of and these two men are solid proof of that. She says that anyone who steps up to the plate to face either of her men risks the serious chance of having done to them what they did to Al Snow and Chavo Guerrero, last week.
Official Decision: Antonio Cesaro wins by pinfall
Our camera crew catch Test, “Marvelous” Marc Mero, and Candice Michelle discussing how it was wrong for the both of them to have their shots at the International Heavyweight Championship bumped in favour of Leo Burke. Test knows that it was done to protect Malenko from losing the title to him because Morley will do anything to try to keep him down. Mero says that Morley must also be protecting the champion from him, otherwise why would he deny him his shot at the gold? Test tells him he’s wrong and they begin to argue over who the better man is and who can beat Malenko more easily, which leads Candice Michelle to shout at them and tell them to shut up. Now, she wants Test to get straight to the point and to stop wasting her time with conspiracy theories. Test says that his plan is to ruin the main event and get payback on Morley, Malenko and Burke for trying to keep the two of them away from the title. Mero likes that idea, but Candice Michelle says that they aren’t interested. Mero doesn’t understand why and Test tells him not to let a woman make his decisions for him, but she pulls Mero away and says that they aren’t getting involved. The personal trainer has the final say.

VS.
Petey Williams & Eric Young vs. The Cuban Assassins
The match gets started with the Cuban Assassins attacking Williams and Young while they are still sorting out who will begin the match. CASr leaves the ring while getting the referee to force Williams out of the ring. Meanwhile, CAJr dominates Young. There are many fast tags from the Cuban Assassins, who keep pummeling away at Young. They work him over for a good long while and keep him isolated from his corner. He looks to be in a bad way, but has the will to stay in the match, as he continuously kicks out. Williams is desperate to get involved in the match, but he can’t. Young gets an opportunity to get out of trouble when he ducks a clothesline attempt, then bounces back off the ropes and takes CASr off of his feet with a flying forearm smash. Young starts crawling to his corner as CASr tags out. CAJr grabs Young by the foot and begins to drag him away from his corner. Young hops up to one foot, while he’s being pulled away and breaks free from CAJr with a reverse enzigurri-like kick. He drags himself over to the corner again, and again CAJr gets his hands on him, but not before he tags out. Petey comes in and takes the fight to CAJr, which draws CASr into the ring to try to stop the momentum switch from happening. However, Petey is taking it to them both. He knocks CAJr through the ropes and to the ring apron with a dropkick. Then, he runs across the ring and clotheslines CASr over the ropes and to the floor. He crosses the ring again, but gets a shoulderblock from between the ropes. Then, CAJr lifts him into a hanging vertical suplex and releases him, sending him crashing down to the floor! The referee forces CAJr back into the ring and tries to hold him back so he begins a 10-count. This match will continue after the commercial break.
*Commercial Break 4*
We return from the commercial to find that the Cuban Assassins have regained control of the match, and that Petey Williams is now playing the role of the face-in-peril. The Cuban Assassins look like they want to end this match. CASr tags in his son and, together, they lift Petey onto the top turnbuckle and climb up to go for a double-team superplex, however Petey fights back with elbows to the side of CASr’s head and punches to CAJr’s face. He shoves both men to the mat, then stands upright on the top turnbuckle and tries to take them both out with a flying cross body block, but they catch him. Then, they turn around, only to have Young fling himself at them with a flying cross body block from off the top rope, taking them down. With both members of Team Canada on top of both Assassins, the referee counts, but they both manage to kick out at the very last moment. Both men lay into the Assassins with some chops and go for the Irish whip, only to both have it reversed and collide in the middle of the ring. The collision doesn’t take either Canadian off of his feet, but gets them in a daze as they both walk into stereo double-chokehold sit-out powerbombs. The referee goes to count the pinfall, but the Canadian each manage to just get a shoulder up. CASr throws Petey through the ropes, to the floor and follows him out to do more damage to him out there. Meanwhile, CAJr picks up Young and sets up for a piledriver, but Young manages to counter with a body drop. He runs to the ropes and then runs right into a spinning sideslam. He pins Young, but Williams breaks it up. Williams brings CAJr to his feet and lays into him with some chops. He goes for a whip, but it is reversed. Williams ducks a clothesline attempt, then comes back from off of the ropes and takes CAJr down with a tornado DDT. When, he gets up, he sees CASr climbing onto the ring apron. He goes over and kicks him down, then runs to the far ropes and back to send CASr crashing into the guardrail with a suicide dive through the ropes. Just after that happens, we see Young give CAJr the Youngblood Neckbreaker and cover him for the win!
Official Decision: Team Canada wins by pinfall

The Jersey Shore vs. Kaientai
The first 2-minutes of this match go back and forth until The Jersey Shore gain the advantage when Robbie T nearly takes Funaki’s head off with a stiff clothesline. He starts to display his power, throwing Funaki around the ring like a rag doll. Robbie T makes a couple of pinfall attempts that are unsuccessful and then tags out to let Robbie E see what he can do. He continues to wear his opponent down, but is no more successful at securing a pinfall victory. Robbie E applies a seated rear chinlock that Funaki slowly works his way out of. He sends Robbie E running into the ropes and hits him with a dropkick. Both Funaki and Robbie E tag out at the same time. Robbie T is charging towards TAKA, who takes him down with a spinning heel kick. Robbie T is getting up and TAKA runs to the ropes, and then takes him down with another. As he gets up, Robbie T takes some forearms to the head and some chops to the chest, but then just lifts TAKA up with his brute strength and sends him crashing to the mat with a throwing flapjack. Robbie T picks up TAKA and tries for a powerbomb, but TAKA falls out the back side and runs to the ropes. Funaki makes the blind tag. TAKA takes Robbie T down to one knee with a dropkick to his left knee. Then Funaki takes him down to the mat with a missile dropkick. Robbie E comes in, but TAKA takes care of him. Meanwhile, Funaki lines him up for a crane kick, but Robbie T blocks it, then goes for a lariat, but Funaki ducks it, then takes him down with a leaping tornado DDT. TAKA follows it up with a frog splash off the top rope. As Funaki is the legal man, he covers Robbie T for the 3-count and the victory.
Official Decision: Kaientai wins by pinfall
SoCal Val catches up with Leo Burke to get his thoughts on getting the chance to challenge Dean Malenko for the International Heavyweight Championship in front of his hometown. Burke tells her that he’s very excited and nervous at the same time. He says that it is a dream come true to be getting the chance to win the International Heavyweight Championship in front of his hometown fans. However, that excitement and energy is also what is giving him a few butterflies because he doesn’t want to let his friends, family and fans in attendance down. Still, he feels like his chances are good. He takes nothing away from Dean Malenko, but he feels like that the last time he faced Malenko, he had things well in hand and was only one or two moves away from winning and moving on in the title tournament, until he was gutlessly attacked by René Duprée and Sylvain Grenier. However, having run them out of town, two weeks ago, he knows that he doesn’t have to worry about outside interference.
“Marvelous” Marc Mero and Candice Michelle appear on the scene. They claim to be coming in peace and that they merely want to wish Burke good luck out there. Burke doesn’t believe that they’re being sincere, but they claim that they are. They re-iterate that they wish him good luck, then Candice Michelle adds, “because you’re going to need it.” Burke asks her what that means and Mero replies, “The word on the street is that you’re going to be TESTED, tonight.” Mero and Candice Michelle leave as Burke ponders what they just told him. Our main event title match is coming up next!

International Heavyweight Championship Match
“The Iceman” Dean Malenko vs. Leo Burke
“The Iceman” Dean Malenko vs. Leo Burke
This match starts off slowly as both wrestlers are being very methodical in their approach. There are long sequences of various holds. It’s not much different from the beginning of their first match against each other, a month ago, when they started out in the catch style. Burke targets the head and neck, and tries to tire out the champion, while he focuses on the legs and lower back of the challenger. Each display of technical wrestling by both men fails to lead to a substantial advantage for either wrestler. They constantly end up in stalemates and end up chopping the crap out of each other’s chests until one of them is able to slap on another hold. This continues for a good long while until Malenko breaks up a side headlock by backing into the ropes and sending Burke running to the far side of the ring. Malenko goes to the centre of the ring and tries for a standing dropkick, but Burke hooks the top rope. He waits for Malenko to get up and charges at him, but Malenko gives him a back body drop. Burke gets up near the ropes and sees Malenko coming at him, so he body drops him over the ropes and onto the floor! Burke tries to go outside, but the referee holds him back as he doesn’t want him to leave the ring.
*Commercial Break 7*
We return from the break to find Burke has Malenko stuck in the corner and he is driving some pointed elbow shots into Malenko’s forehead. Burke sends Malenko across the ring. He follows him into the corner, but Malenko gets a foot up into his face. Malenko goes to the second turnbuckle and leaps off, but gets a fist to the abdomen. Burke gives Malenko a Russian legsweep and covers for a 2-count. He locks on a headlock. Malenko slowly works his way up to his feet and breaks it with several elbow shots to the abdomen. Malenko runs to the ropes and Burke tries to give him an overhead belly-to-belly suplex, but he lands on his feet! Malenko runs to the ropes as Burke is getting up and then takes him back down with a spinning headscissors takedown. Malenko runs to the far ropes as Burke gets up. He tries to body drop him to the floor a second time, but this time Malenko lands on the apron. He climbs the turnbuckle while Burke isn’t looking and then hits him with a missile dropkick. Malenko pins, but only gets a 2-count. He picks up Burke and tries to give him a fisherman’s suplex, but Burke has an arm hooked around the top rope. Malenko gives him a couple of fists and headbutts and then succeeds to give him the fisherman’s suplex, which Burke kicks out at the count of two. Malenko drags Burke towards the middle of the ring and tries to grab his feet to put him in the Texas Cloverleaf, but Burke manages to kick Malenko away. Burke gets up and sees Malenko charging at him, and manages to scoop him up into a sidewalk slam. Burke hooks the leg, but Malenko kicks out. Burke gets up andgives Malenko a pair of snap suplexes. After another failed pinfall attempt, he brings Malenko into the corner and gives him a series of punches and chops. Then he lifts him up onto the top turnbuckle. He climbs up to try for a superplex, but Malenko is blocking it, just like what happened in their previous match. Both men put up quite a fight, but it is Burke who eventually wins the battle by executing a double-underhook suplex from off the top turnbuckle. Burke is scrambling over to make the pin attempt, but changes his mind at the last moment. He stands upright as we see Test slide into the ring behind him.
Burke turns around and sees Test charging at him. Burke tosses him across the ring with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. It looks like Burke understood Marc Mero’s warning. Test gets up and Burke clotheslines him over the ropes and onto the floor. Burke turns around and Malenko kicks him in the abdomen, then lifts him up to go for what looks like a brainbuster, but Burke floats over and counters it with a reverse DDT. He pins. 1…2…
… the referee gets pulled out of position by “Marvelous” Marc Mero! He ducks below the ring apron and scurries around the side of the ring. Burke sees Test outside of the ring and assumes it was him. The referee gets into a heated exchange with Test about it. Burke decides to run over and take Test down with a suicide dive through the ropes. Burke sits on top of Test and furiously pounds away at his head with his fist. The referee leaves the ring to deal with this. While he’s outside trying to break things up, Mero enters the ring and hits Malenko in the back with a chair! He picks up Malenko and gives him the TKO onto the chair! Meanwhile, the referee just finished getting Burke off of Test in time for both he and Burke to see Mero’s TKO. The referee calls for the bell and the DQ finish. Burke is pissed. His eyes lock with Mero’s. Burke slides into the ring and Mero slides out the other side and escapes down the entrance aisle, where he’s met by Candice Michelle, where they have a good laugh at Burke’s expense. Burke, who remains in the ring, warns Mero that he’ll get his payback for ruining his title shot. When Burke finally turns around, he walks straight into Test’s running big boot. Now, Test sits down on top of Burke and pounds away at him. The referee tries to stop him, but Test just shoves him away and continues the assault until Malenko breaks it up by giving Test a DDT! Malenko grabs Test by the legs and places him the Texas Cloverleaf. We see Test tapping out. The ring floods with officials to separate all of the remaining parties. We see Malenko collecting his title and raising it in the air as our broadcast comes to an end.
Official Decision: “The Iceman” Dean Malenko wins by disqualification
