It’s time for Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN. It’s time to play that old familiar drum beat!
Ed Whalen: Good evening, Atlantic Canada! Welcome to Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN. I’m Ed Whalen and this is my broadcast partner, Jeremy Borash.
Jeremy Borash: Thank you, Ed. Fans, I think we’re in for an exciting evening. This is the first edition of Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN coming hot off the heels of PRIMETIME LIVE, last week, where AGPW crowned its first International Heavyweight Champion and North American Tag Team Champions.
Ed Whalen: Yes, going home with the tag team titles was Frenchy Martin’s Montréal Mafia, who received the help of the Japanese Buzzsaw, Yoshihiro Tajiri! And, taking the biggest prize in AGPW was “The Iceman” Dean Malenko, who won the International Heavyweight Championship.
Jeremy Borash: All of the champions of here tonight and, in fact, we’ll be seeing the Montréal Mafia on AGPW’s debut of The Piper’s Pit, starring Rowdy Roddy Piper.
Ed Whalen: Plus, Johnny Devine will be in singles action against “Marvelous” Marc Mero. If you can remember, it was Mero who put Devine on the shelf for over a month back on June 1. Devine and Mero faced off in a 6-man tag team tables match at PRIMETIME LIVE, but nothing was resolved as Mero tucked his tail and left the match, leaving his tag partners to be slaughtered.
Jeremy Borash: And also in singles action tonight, we’ll see Al Snow vs. Magnus. If you can recall back 3-weeks ago, Al Snow asked Magnus to be his tag team partner at PRIMETIME LIVE, but Magnus attacked Snow instead. Now, Snow will try to teach Magnus that was a mistake.
Ed Whalen: Plus, several killers will be making their Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling debuts.
Jeremy Borash: That’s right! We’ll see an old familiar face to the Maritimes in “Killer” Karl Krupp, who comes all of the way from Mannheim, Germany. In addition, we’ll see the debut of Jumpin’ Jim Brunzell and B. Brian Blair, the tag team duo known as the Killer Bees.
Ed Whalen: We’ll have all of that and more on Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN, tonight. But first, I’m going to be heading into the ring to greet the new International Heavyweight Champion, “The Iceman” Dean Malenko.
“The Iceman” Dean Malenko comes to the ring for his first introduction as the AGPW International Heavyweight Champion. Ed Whalen greets the “Man of 1,000 Holds” and congratulates him on becoming the first International Heavyweight Champion in this new era of AGPW. Malenko thanks Whalen and cuts a promo outlining how he will be a fighting champion who is willing to defend his title at anytime, anywhere. He says that he will take on all challengers and won’t back down from anyone.
This brings Test out to the ring. He grabs a microphone and says that it is common knowledge that he is the best wrestler in AGPW and that he should be the champion. He goes on to say that Malenko’s title victory is a total sham because Sean Morley abused his authority by deliberately excluding him from the title tournament. Malenko speaks up and says that he earned this title fair and square. Then, he continues, by telling Test that he ought to show some respect and not run his mouth off or else he risks having Malenko’s foot shoved in it. That pops the crowd and infuriates Test, who then puts Malenko on the spot by challenging him to defend his title right here, right now.
Before Malenko can respond, Chief Morley comes out and refuses to allow the match to happen on the grounds that Test hasn’t earned a title shot. Test asks him why not and Morley points out the obvious – that his record in single’s competition is 1-0, which isn’t good enough to propel him to the top of #1 contender’s ladder. Test responds by asking Morley, “how about I wrestle you for my title shot?” Morley declines, saying that he is employed by Emile Duprée in an administrative role and not as a wrestler. Having heard enough, Test says that turning down his challenge won’t prevent him from getting his ass kicked and then gives the Chief of Staff a running big boot! He starts putting the boots to the Chief until Malenko takes Test down with a rear waistlock takedown and quickly transitions it into a Texas cloverleaf. Morley rolls out of the ring and is tended to AGPW ringside officials. Meanwhile, Test is tapping out and screaming for him to break it, but the Champion won’t let go until officials force him to break it.

SoCal Val finds the Chief of Staff being tended to by EMTs. It would appear as though he received a busted lip from the attack by Test. Val asks if she can get a word with him and wants to know his thoughts about what happened before the commercial break. Morley, still fuming over what happened to him earlier, speaks – perhaps against his better judgment – and states that under no circumstance will Test ever get a chance to win the International Heavyweight Champion, then he tells Val to get lost because he’s about to get the inside of his lip stitched.

Robbie E w/ Robbie T vs. Lance Storm
This match gets out to a quick start with Robbie E trying to bring a fast pace to the action, right away. However, he’s not so successful in his attempt to get the early advantage as Storm is on top of his game and ready for everything that Robbie E throws his way. So, Robbie E bails from the ring after taking the brunt of the offense in the match and he holds a ringside conference with Robbie T, who tries to give him a pep talk to restore his confidence. Robbie E re-enters the ring and gets into a grapple, but he’s still unsuccessful in his attempt to gain control of the match, until a reversed Irish whip and referee distraction let’s Robbie T trip up Lance Storm. Then, Robbie E is all over him, but only briefly. Lance Storm succeeds in his comeback bid. He eventually gets Robbie E in the sharpshooter and gets him to tap, but a referee distraction by Robbie T saves Robbie E from a submission loss. Storm takes Robbie T off of the ring apron with a superkick and follows up with one for Robbie E to score the pinfall victory.
Official Decision: Lance Storm wins by pinfall

The Killer Bees vs. “Dastardly” Danny Doring & Roadkill
Danny Doring is smug and confident with the big Angry Amish Warrior in his corner. Roadkill and Doring turn Blair into Ricky Morton for a good long while, but he makes the hot tag to Brunzell, who serves up punches, chops, flying forearms, dropkicks and back bodydrops to both of his opponents. Brunzell is on fire in the ring and as soon as Blair recovers from having been dominated earlier in the match, he joins in on the fun, leading to a double dropkick that sends Roadkill into the ropes, through them, and out to the floor, and another double dropkick for Doring that leads to the pinfall victory in the Killer Bees’ AGPW debut.
Official Decision: The Killer Bees wins by pinfall
We see Test in the backstage area. He’s dressed in his street clothes and he has a gym back flung over his shoulder. He appears to be in a hurry. SoCal Val tries to catch him with him and get a word from him. He stops briefly to look at her. He seems extremely angry. Now nervous from the look she’s receiving from him, Val reluctantly asks him for his reaction to what happened to him earlier in the evening. Test tells her that he’s fed up with the constant bullshit that he’s had to take from the AGPW management. He says that everyone knows that there isn’t a single man in AGPW who can defeat him in the ring and that he should be the International Heavyweight Champion. She asks him how he intends to become the champion when it seems like Chief Morley sets up obstacles for him at every turn. Test simply replies that Chief Morley is a dead man and adds that Dean Malenko had better watch his back. Then, he walks out of the arena loading dock area into a waiting towncar and leaves.

Magnus w/ Maryse Ouellet vs. Al Snow
The opening minutes of this match go back and forth as Magnus and Al Snow are fairly evenly matched. Neither man is truly able to get a sustained advantage as there are whip counters and move reversals happening at an incredible pace. Things turn in Magnus’ favour when Maryse grabs Snow’s attention by grabbing Head and beating it off of the ring steps. Snow flips his lid. He exits the ring and starts chasing Maryse around the ring until he runs into a stiff running clothesline. Magnus follows that up with a snap suplex on the floor. He picks up Snow and gives him a couple of chops. Then, he slams Snow’s face into the ring post before sending him into the ring and going for the first pinfall of the contest. Snow kicks out. Magnus takes control with a series of power moves and holds to wear down Snow. Magnus loses his advantage when he charges at Snow, who he sent into the corner, and tries to give him a running big boot. Snow moves and Magnus’ leg goes up over the top rope and he ends up hitting the top turnbuckle very uncomfortably. Snow sees Magnus favouring his right knee after falling to the mat, so he starts to dissect the joint. He keeps Magnus grounded for a while, but Maryse is proving to be a bit too much of a distraction for him to stay focused. The referee has to get involved and threatens to eject Maryse if she doesn’t leave Head alone. With their backs turned to Magnus, he gets to his knees and gives Snow a low blow from behind, then brings him down into a school-boy roll-up, and with a handful of tights, gets the 3-count and the victory.
Official Decision: Magnus wins by pinfall
After the match, Al Snow is pleading his case to the referee that his tights were pulled, which gives Magnus the opportunity to hit him from behind with a dropkick. Magnus continues the attack and Maryse slides a chair into the ring for him to use.
But here comes Chavo Guerrero! He enters the ring and tackles Magnus before he can swing the chair at him. Chavo lays into him with his fists until he gets hit in the back with a steel chair…
… by Antonio Cesaro! He sees Al Snow getting up and gives him a chair shot! He brings Chavo to his feet and serves him a few European uppercuts and then gives him the Neutralizer. Then, he does the same thing to Al Snow. Magnus has now recovered and he raises Cesaro’s hand up in the air in victory, while Maryse grabs a microphone to introduce Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling to her international management firm’s newest client – Antonio Cesaro! Then, she serves AGPW notice that crossing paths with either of her men will result in the same kind of vicious beating that we’ve seen Chavo and Snow receive.

It’s time to enter the Piper’s Pit with Rowdy Roddy Piper, who is joined, tonight, by his guests, Frenchy Martin and the North American Tag Team Champions, Dino Bravo & Mad Dog Vachon, also known as the Montréal Mafia. Piper congratulates them on becoming tag team champions and lets everyone get some talking time in by asking them some easy questions. As you can expect, they rip into the AGPW competition, claim it is inferior to them and talk about how they will dominate the ranks of AGPW and hold onto the North American Tag Team Championships for many years to come. Piper has seemingly heard enough of it and starts getting some digs in at the Mafia’s expense. He begins to irritate them until finally he asks Martin how he will respond to the critics who claim that his team shouldn’t and maybe even wouldn’t be champions without the outside interference of the “Japanese Buzzsaw” Yoshihiro Tajiri. Martin and his men grow incensed at the accusations and, in typical heel fashion, deny any wrong doing and pretend like Tajiri didn’t get involved in the match on their behalf. Piper calls bullshit and presses the issue, asking Martin if Tajiri is in league with the Mafia. Martin tells him that the interview is over, but Piper grabs him by the arm and won’t let him leave. He keeps asking him until finally Martin tells him to ask Tajiri himself. Piper gets tapped on the shoulder. When he turns around, he gets sprayed in the face by green mist!
Tajiri goes on to the tear the Piper’s Pit set apart by throwing Piper into the set chairs and walls, all the while Frenchy Martin is cheerleading him along and the tag team champions enjoy a laugh at Piper’s expense and hold their titles up to gloat to the crowd and the audience at home. Rowdy Roddy Piper and his entire Piper’s Pit have been decimated at the hands of Tajiri, who joins Martin and the Montréal Mafia and they celebrate as we cut to commercial.

“Killer” Karl Krupp vs. T.G. Stone
This video shows what happens in the match up to about the 6:30 mark when, instead of a post-match run-in, Krupp finally releases the claw hold, salutes and goose steps his way out of the ring. Krupp gets a decisive victory with his hard-hitting, brawling ring style.
Official Decision: “Killer” Karl Krupp wins by pinfall
SoCal Val catches up with the International Heavyweight Champion, “The Iceman” Dean Malenko, and asks him for his thoughts about what transpired at the beginning of the show. The Champion says that he could care less about the issues that exist between Chief Morley and Test. He goes on to say that he wasn’t defending Morley because it was the right thing to do. More to the point, he defended Morley to send a message to Test that taking him down and making him tap out was so easy that he should maybe think twice about wanting to challenge him to a match for his International Heavyweight Title. However, he closes by saying that, if Test was too stupid to learn the lesson, then he’ll be ready to put his title on the line next week.

Elix Skipper vs. A-1
After suffering a heartbreaking loss to Test at PRIMETIME LIVE, Elix Skipper looks to get back on the winning track with a match against A-1. Skipper does well in the early going, but A-1 brings the fight to him and gets a good amount of offense in, himself. However, he really is no match for “Primetime,” who electrifies and dazzles us with his exciting display of high-risk, acrobatic and aerial maneuvers. Skipper uses his educated feet, unbridled athleticism and penchant for stealing the show to put forward a great showing that culminates in him executing the Play of the Day on A-1 to secure the pinfall victory. Skipper gets an impressive win to move back into the win column.
Official Decision: Elix Skipper wins by pinfall

VS. w/
Johnny Devine vs. “Marvelous” Marc Mero w/ Candice Michelle
This match starts with Devine rushing to the ring. Mero sees him coming and starts pounding away at him as soon as he slides into the ring. However, it doesn’t take Devine too long to upend Mero and lay into him with lefts and rights. Devine takes the early offensive advantage as Mero tries to escape the barrage of offense directed at him. He gets his chance to break free when Devine makes the mistake of charging at Mero while he’s in the corner. Mero moves out of the way and Devine’s shoulder hits the turnbuckle post with authority. Mero takes advantage and focuses on that body part for a long while. Mero gets on a good long role, but as he is prone to do, he begins to slow down his attack and take more and more time to pose for the crowd, who doesn’t appreciate his fancy foot work or lightning quick hands. This is a mistake that eventually catches up to him when Devine gives Mero a jawbreaker as he’s being brought to his feet. Mero gets up and exchanges a few blows with Devine before the tide turns completely in Devine’s favour after he connects with an enzigurri kick. He goes for the pinfall, but Mero kicks out. Devine connects with a few of his signature moves – a springboard crossbody block, a split-legged moonsault and the Devine DDT, but nothing can put Mero away. He decides to try for the Devine Driver, but Mero escapes out the back, takes him into the ropes and rolls him up. Mero grabs a handful of tights, but Devine still kicks out at two. Devine gets up and ducks a lariat attempt. He goes for a savate kick, but Mero blocks it, and then connects with the Kiss That Don’t Miss. Mero covers, but only gets a 2-count. Mero picks up Devine and gives him a series of lefts and rights to the head and body before scooping him up onto his shoulders to set up for the TKO, but Devine manages to counter with a crucifix pin to get a 2-count. Devine follows that up by running to the ropes and going for a springboard cross-body, but Mero catches him and gives him a backbreaker. Mero then picks him up and gives him a suplex before climbing to the top rope and going for the Marvelocity (shooting star press), only to have Devine roll out of the way. Devine gets up and waits for Mero to get to his feet. Then he leaps up and attempts a hurricanrana, but Mero holds him up and drops him with a release powerbomb motion that sends his back crashing into the top turnbuckle. He follows that up by giving Devine the TKO and pinning him for the 3-count and the victory!
Official Decision: “Marvelous” Marc Mero wins by pinfall
After the match, Candice Michelle enters the ring to celebrate Mero’s victory with him. She hands him a microphone and Mero asks for his music to be cut. He quickly tells Team Canada that he’s proven once and for all that they are no match for him and tells them that they’d better focus their attention somewhere else because keeping it on him would be a mistake that would only result in an embarrassingly large number of loses for them. Then, he says that this victory tonight proves to the world that he’s going straight to the top. Candice Michelle takes the microphone and says that, on account of her personal training, the “Marvelous One” is the #1 wrestler in the company and promises us all that we’ll soon see his waist adorned with several kilograms of gold.
Ed Whalen: Well, fans, it’s been an interesting night, to say the least.
Jeremy Borash: Yes, it has, Ed. We’ve just seen “Marvelous” Marc Mero stake his claim to being the best wrestler in the company with an impressive victory over his rival, Johnny Devine. And it seems like he might be positioning himself to challenge “The Iceman” Dean Malenko for his title.
Ed Whalen: That remains to be seen. However, what we do know is that Test has already challenged Malenko for his title. You’ve got to think that he might stand in the way of anyone else who may try to get the first shot at Malenko’s title.
Jeremy Borash: Plus, we’ve seen impressive debuts by the Killer Bees and “Killer” Karl Krupp, as well as the surprise appearance of Antonio Cesaro, who brutally assaulted Al Snow and Chavo Guerrero! With Magnus and Antonio Cesaro already under contract, Maryse Ouellet is putting together an impressive group of clients.
Ed Whalen: That she is! Plus, tonight has also born witness to what appears to be an alliance between Frenchy Martin’s Montréal Mafia and Yoshihiro Tajiri! That’s a dangerous combination if there’s ever been one.
Jeremy Borash: Sure enough. Tajiri absolutely destroyed Rowdy Roddy Piper and the Piper’s Pit set, while Frenchy Martin and the North American Tag Team Champions looked on and laughed.
Ed Whalen: Fans, it’s been an eventful night and next week will be no different. I’ve just learned that the last graduate of the Hart Family Dungeon, Tyson Kidd, will make his AGPW debut next week, in the ring against Yoshihiro Tajiri! It’s a big double debut match up. Plus, we’ll also see Team Canada’s Petey Williams & Eric Young battle the Cuban Assassins! That’s next week on Atlantic Grand Wrestling on ASN. In the meantime and in between time, thank you for watching and have a great week!
