It’s time for Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN. It’s time to play that old familiar drum beat!
Ed Whalen: Good evening, Atlantic Canada! Welcome to Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN. I’m Ed Whalen and joining me on commentary, as always, is Jeremy Borash. Tonight, we will find out who will be the final two men to compete for the International Heavyweight Championship!
Jeremy Borash: Right now there are four men left in the running for a chance at the gold. “The Iceman” Dean Malenko will face off against “Primetime” Elix Skipper in one of two semi-final matches to be contested tonight.
Ed Whalen: And in the other semi-final match, we will see Chris Candido compete against “Marvelous” Marc Mero for a spot in the finals. The winners of these two matches will go on to PRIMETIME LIVE to face each other for a chance to become the first International Heavyweight Champion in this new era of Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling!
Jeremy Borash: But that’s not all, we may see Atlantic Canadian wrestling legend Leo Burke in his very last match on Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN!
Ed Whalen: Burke will go head-to-head against Sylvain Grenier in what will be a prelude to the Loser Leaves Town match between La Résistance and Leo Burke & Lance Storm, at PRIMETIME LIVE.
Jeremy Borash: We’re going to have to soak that one in because there is no telling what will happen two weeks from now.
Ed Whalen: That’s right, Jeremy. Plus, there are plenty of other things happening tonight in our last show before PRIMETIME LIVE. All of the tag teams competing in the Fatal Fourway for the North American Tag Team Titles are here. Al Snow is still searching for a tag team partner for his match against the Cuban Assassins in two weeks, the on-going hatred between Team Canada and the Jersey Shore won’t seem to go away, and how will Test respond to his having been placed in a handicapped match by the Chief of Staff, Sean Morley, last week?
Jeremy Borash: There’s all of that and more in store for you tonight, but before we send the broadcast down to ringside, let’s check in with SoCal Val, who is backstage with the Chief of Staff, Sean Morley.
SoCal Val is with Chief Morley. She says that the Chief has asked her for a moment of her time to make a quick announcement to the fans at home, before asking him what he wants to tell the home viewers. Morley tells Val and everyone watching on television and throughout the arena that in an effort to ensure that tonight’s International Heavyweight Title tournament semi-final matches are free of any outside interference and produce clean and definitive results, both matches will be contested with the Chief of Staff present at ringside. Plus, he notes that all other wrestlers are barred from ringside and that anyone who dares to interfere in these matches will be subject to a fine and a 30-day suspension without pay.

International Heavyweight Championship Semi-Final
“The Iceman” Dean Malenko vs. Elix Skipper
“The Iceman” Dean Malenko vs. Elix Skipper
They lock up and get highly technical in the early going with some nice chain wrestling. Skipper clearly wants to pick up the pace and bring his high-octane offense into play, but Malenko won’t let it happen. Skipper does a good job of keeping pace with Malenko. They go back and forth with brief advantages before reversing their opponent’s holds and locking him into their own. This continues right on into the first commercial break.
*Commercial Break 1*
When we come back from the commercial, we find that the mat game is still playing an important role in the match, which is to Malenko’s advantage. However, things start to change when Skipper gets to his feet while being held in a hammerlock-type hold. He reverses it to a back wristlock that he follows up with a belly-to-back suplex, with Malenko’s wrist behind his back, and then gives him a leg drop. He waits for Malenko to get up and takes him down with four arm drags and then dropkicks him through the ropes. Skipper goes airborn with a suicide somersault senton dive. Skipper brings Malenko to his feet and takes a thumb to the eye. Then they trade a few chops. Malenko goes for a whip, but Skipper reverses it and Malenko hits the guardrail. Skipper charges at him and gets a back bodydrop over the guardrail and onto the bare concrete floor. Malenko rolls into the ring and out to break the count. He picks up Skipper and tosses him back over the guardrail. He sets him up for a suplex, but Skipper blocks with a leg hook and he gives him some shots to the ribs. Then, Skipper lifts Malenko and gives him a falling forward suplex on the floor. Skipper picks up Malenko and tosses him back into the ring. Skipper climbs the turnbuckle. He sees Malenko starting to move. Skipper walks the ropes and goes new school – rope walk frankensteiner – on him. Skipper goes for the first pinfall on the evening, but Malenko kicks out. Skipper brings him to his feet and tries for a whip, but Malenko counters and sets up for the bodydrop. Skipper goes for a sunset flip, but Malenko rolls out, holds the legs and covers with an inverted bridge. He gets a 2-count before Skipper powers out of it and brings Malenko down into a backslide for a 2-count. Skipper ducks a clothesline attempt and then hits Malenko with a wheel kick. He goes for the pin, but only gets a two-count. Skipper climbs the turnbuckle and sees Malenko getting up. He hits him with a moonsault while he is standing. He grabs the leg as he’s going down, but Malenko just kicks out in time. Skipper brings Malenko to his feet and locks him into the Primetime Submission (a modified octopus hold). Malenko won’t quit and Skipper eventually has to release the hold. Skipper whips Malenko into the corner. He charges in and Malenko gets his foot up into Skipper’s face. Skipper recovers to come at Malenko again, who sidesteps him and gives him a drop toehold, sending Skipper’s face into the middle turnbuckle with authority. They both get to their feet at the same time. Malenko attempts to strike him, but he blocks. Skipper goes for his own and Malenko blocks it and lays into him with some chops. Malenko takes him over with a bridging northern lights suplex for a 2-count. They get up and Malenko executes a fisherman’s suplex for two. Malenko brings Skipper to his feet and gives him some uppercuts to back him into the corner. A hard Irish whip sends Skipper into the opposite corner. Malenko runs in and tries for a leg lariat, but Skipper catches him and takes him down with a sit-out powerbomb, but Malenko gets his shoulder up. Skipper decides to go outside and climb the turnbuckle. Malenko slowly gets to his feet. Skipper gets airborne and Malenko sees him coming. He grabs onto his arm and takes Skipper into the mat while locking on the crossface crippler! Skipper frantically tries to get to the rope, but he can’t make it over. After nearly 20 seconds, he manages to get his feet on a rope to break the hold. Both men get up and Malenko chops away at him. Malenko performs a few no-release whips to the ropes plus knee lifts to Skipper before giving him a brainbuster and pinning him. Skipper just gets his shoulder up in the nick of time. Malenko grabs him by the legs and drags him to the middle of the ring. It looks like he’s going for the Texas cloverleaf, but Skipper gets both of his feet onto Malenko’s chest and boots him away. Skipper gets up and Malenko charges at him. Skipper takes him down with a spinning heel kick. They both get up and Skipper gets Malenko onto his back to go for Sudden Death, but Malenko breaks free and brings him down into a roll-up for two. Malenko lets Skipper get to his feet and dropkicks him into the turnbuckle. Malenko grabs him and goes for the Irish whip, but Skipper reverses it and sends Malenko into the opposite turnbuckle. He charges in and leaps up for an avalanche splash, but Malenko moves out of the way. After Skipper hits the turnbuckle, Malenko gives him a release German suplex, and then puts him in the Texas cloverleaf. Skipper tries to crawl to the ropes and nearly gets his fingers on the bottom rope before Malenko powers his way back to the center of the ring, finally forcing Skipper to tap out. Dean Malenko is going to compete for the International Heavyweight Championship at PRIMETIME LIVE!
Official Decision: “The Iceman” Dean Malenko wins by submission
*Commercial Break 2*
When we return from the commercial break, we watch footage from moments ago during the break. After Dean Malenko has left the ring and Elix Skipper is getting to his feet, after his match, Test comes into the ring and takes him right back off of his feet with a running big boot. Test picks him up and gives him the Test Grade! He gets a microphone and says that he remembers a few weeks ago when Skipper said that he’d be willing to face Test anytime, anywhere. Now that’s no longer busy chasing the title, Test says that he can honour that challenge. At PRIMETIME LIVE, Test intends to destroy Elix Skipper and prove to the world that he is anything but “Primetime.” Before leaving, Test has one last thing to say: After he’s destroyed Elix Skipper at PRIMETIME LIVE, the next man up on his list of failures is the Chief of Staff.
w/ VS.
Magnus w/ Maryse vs. A-1
This is a pretty short match that sees Magnus dominate from opening bell to closing bell. A-1 only gets a handful of moves in on Magnus, before getting decimated with an array of moves including a running big boot, a crisp dropkick, a slingshot elbow drop, a falling powerbomb, and Magnus’ finisher, the Tormentum. After the match, Maryse takes the microphone and says that Magnus was hardly challenged and didn’t get to truly display how dominant he is, so they’re making an open challenge to the entire roster for a match right now. Magnus is ready to pull double duty and win twice in one night!
Official Decision: Magnus wins by pinfall
Who should answer the challenge? None other than Al Snow! Actually, that’s not really why he is here. Upon entering the ring, Magnus starts towards him, but Snow throws Head towards him, forcing him to stop and catch the mannequin head in his hands. Magnus looks at Snow, who is gesturing for a time out. Snow tells Magnus and Maryse that he isn’t here to wrestle Magnus. He’s here because he knows that Magnus isn’t busy on July 20, and so he would like to know if Magnus would be interested in being his tag team partner to help him defeat the evil Cuban Assassins at PRIMETIME LIVE. Magnus looks at Maryse, who then looks at Snow and says that Magnus would be delighted to be his tag team partner, but under one condition: Al Snow must defeat Magnus in a match right now. Snow has a look of confusion on his face. He looks at Magnus, who tosses him Head and then dropkicks him to the mat. Snow gets up and Magnus fires away at him with several punches before whipping him into the ropes. Magnus catches him with a running knee lift, then picks him up and gives him the Tormentum. He sits down on top of Snow and continues to throw fists at his head, while Maryse is telling the referee to call for the bell and start the match, but he won’t. Instead, he tries to break it up, so Maryse gives him a low blow from behind and then a DDT!
Chavo Guerrero Jr. rushes into the ring! He tackles Magnus. They roll around and trade punches for a bit. Magnus gets up and sends Chavo into the ropes. He comes back and takes Magnus off of his feet with spinning tilt-a-whirl headscissors. Magnus gets up and Chavo clotheslines him over the ropes and onto the floor. Maryse bails out of the ring to check on him. Chavo grabs the microphone and says that what they did to Al Snow was completely uncalled for. He warns Magnus that the next time he pulls a stunt like that on anyone, “you’ll have to answer to me!” Then, he helps Snow up and tells him that he can end his search for a tag team partner because he’ll gladly help him defeat the Cuban Assassins at PRIMETIME LIVE.
But, there’s just one problem. Chief Morley is here and walks out onto the entrance set. He tells Al Snow that he’s terribly sorry, but he’ll have to find himself another tag team partner because he’s just signed Chavo to a match against Magnus at PRIMETIME LIVE!
Poor Al Snow! The search for a tag team partner must now continue!
*Commercial Break 3*
SoCal Val is backstage with Sylvain Grenier and René Duprée and begins by asking them what they think about being placed in a Losers Leave Town Match at PRIMETIME LIVE. Grenier says that he is happy about it. He says that he would gladly leave Atlantic Canada any day because the entire region is full of the most boring small towns and cities he’s ever visited. However, the one thing that is keeping him here is his friendship with René Duprée. He says that a good friend helps his friends in a time of need and that, right now, his friend needs him to help rid Atlantic Canada of Leo Burke and Lance Storm. Then, he adds that the world will witness a preview of what is to come when Grenier defeats Burke in singles action, tonight. Duprée pats Grenier on the back and adds that he’s more than happy about the stipulation for their tag team match because it means that he’ll be able to accomplish two of his biggest goals at once: righting the wrong of failing to deny Lance Storm a contract and banishing Leo Burke from AGPW forever!
w/ VS. w/
“Marvelous” Marc Mero w/ Candice Michelle vs. Chris Candido w/ Sunny
The match opens with a lot of stalling between grapples by the “Marvelous One”. Candido keeps getting the better of the exchanges, and so Mero becomes less and less interesting to lock up after each attempt. Meanwhile, Candice Michelle and Sunny are creating a bit of distraction for the men in the ring, as they continuously cheer on their men, but also shout back and forth at each other from opposite sides of the ring. Candice Michelle climbs onto the ring apron at one point, only to point out to the referee that Sunny has hoped onto the ring apron on the other side of the ring and threatens to jump into it. Candido tries to calm Sunny down, but Mero seems to be happy with his personal trainer’s energy and is actively encouraging it. After a few minutes of near-starts and stalled starts, things finally get underway when Mero wins an exchange with a knee to the abdomen and then an abdominal stretch. Candido shows off his power by breaking the hold and taking Mero down with a hip toss. He follows it up with a couple of running clotheslines, then a whip into the corner. He follows in. Mero moves, and Candido stops short of the turnbuckle. Mero jumps up for a huricanrana attempt, only to be dropped into the mat with a powerbomb. Candido covers and Mero kicks out. Candido stays on him with some kicks, then a whip into the corner and a hard running clothesline. Candido puts Mero onto the top turnbuckle, but he can’t climb up it as Mero kicks him away. Mero gets back down to the mat and starts throwing some jabs and hooks at him. Candido tries to block, but he can’t keep every shot from landing on him. Mero takes him down with a hard right to the side of the head. He runs to the ropes and returns with a running somersault senton. Then he covers, but Candido kicks out. Mero applies a rear chinlock as we go to commercial.
*Commercial Break 4*
We return from the break with Mero firmly in the driver’s seat. He’s slowly and methodically working away at Candido. Mero wants to keep him grounded and is trying to weaken his legs to both sap him of his power and make it harder for him to avoid Mero’s aerial offense. In the meantime, he tries for a few pinfalls, but Candido keeps kicking out. Mero eventually decides to apply a Boston crab, but Candido works his way over to the ropes. Mero breaks the hold and does a bit of showboating and shadow boxing for the fans, who shower him with boos. He turns to see Candido getting up. Mero runs over and clothesline’s Candido over the top rope. He grabs onto the top rope and lands on the apron. Mero has already turned his back to Candido and gone back to shadow boxing. Candido waits for him to stop, then performs a springboard dropkick and covers for one. Candido runs to the ropes. Mero sees him and tries to set up for a Samoan drop, but Candido takes him down into a crucifix pin for two. They both get up and Candido drops him with a hard lariat. He covers, but again only gets two. Candido picks up Mero and gives him a hanging vertical suplex. Candido goes out and starts climbing the turnbuckle, but he can’t get up, because Candice Michelle grabs one of his feet. Sunny comes around and chases her away, but she held him up long enough for Mero to come over and drive Candido’s face into the top turnbuckle a couple of times and then shove him down to the floor. Mero waits for him to get to his feet, then slingshots over the top rope with a plancha. Mero gets up first and whips Candido into the guardrail. He comes over and delivers a few hard European upper cuts. He goes to drop Candido’s face into the ringsteps, but Candido blocks, gives Mero an elbow to the chest and then slams his face off of the steps. He rolls Mero into the ring, then slingshots himself over the top rope and executes a leg drop. He holds his seated position for the pin. Candice Michelle grabs Mero’s foot and puts it on the bottom rope to break the count. Sunny starts shouting about cheating and Candice acts completely innocent. While the referee is distracted by this argument, Candido tries to pick up Mero, only to get the low blow and pulled into a small package. Candido kicks out at two. Mero picks him up and bodyslams him. He goes to the top rope and tries for a Merosault, but Candido gets his knees up. Candido gets up first. He sees Mero getting up and he runs over to take him back down with a bulldog. He goes outside and begins to climb the turnbuckle. He reaches the top and gets poised to perform the New Jersey Jam, but Candice Michelle has entered the ring and is standing in his flight path. The referee goes to warn her to get out of the ring, but she pushes him away. Sunny comes in from behind and gives her a low blow, then kicks her out of the ring. Candido goes for the New Jersey Jam, but Mero gets out of the way. As Candido is getting up, Mero lifts him onto his shoulders he starts to go for the TKO, but Candido escapes to his feet. Mero turns around, receives a kick and a rolling DDT. Candido pins, but Mero gets his shoulder up just in time! Candido picks up Mero and whips him into the corner. Mero slams hard into the turnbuckle and pops right out of the corner and goes for a desperation Kiss That Don’t Miss haymaker, but Candido ducks it, then lifts him onto his shoulders and gives him his own TKO! Candido pins him for the win!
Official Decision: Chris Candido wins by pinfall
After the match has ended, and Chris Candido and Sunny are celebrating their win, we see “The Iceman” Dean Malenko come out to ringside and grab the International Heavyweight Championship belt off of the timekeeper’s table. He enters the ring with it and waits for Candido to notice him. Then, he speaks into a microphone and says, “Do you see this belt, Candido? Get a good hard look at it. In fact, I invite you to take a moment to touch it, because after I win this belt two weeks from now at PRIMETIME LIVE, you’ll never get another chance to touch it again.” Candido and Sunny return the smack talk as Malenko throws the microphone down and lays the title out on the mat as a dividing line between the two of them. Then, the two remaining contenders for the title stare at each other as they stand with nothing but the title belt between them.
*Commercial Break 5*
Moments ago, during the commercial break, “Marvelous” Marc Mero is being helped along to his dressing room by his personal trainer. They’re passing by SoCal Val, who asks for a word from them, but Candice Michelle turns down her request. Then, from seemingly out of nowhere, Mero takes a shot from a kendo stick to the back.
It’s Johnny Devine! He puts the boots to him as Petey Williams and Eric Young show up on the scene to help him. Candice Michelle is screaming for help and before too long the Jersey Shore appears. The Robbies pair off with Williams and Young. Devine clears off a catering table and rolls Mero onto it while saying, “So you like watching Canadians get put through tables, huh? Let’s see how you like it!” He gets up and puts Mero through the table with his Devine Intervention double-underhook piledriver! Afterwards, Jeremy Borash and Ed Whalen announce that Chief Morley passed along word to them that a 6-man tag team tables match between “Marvelous” Marc Mero & the Jersey Shore and Team Canada has been added to PRIMETIME LIVE.
We send it over to SoCal Val, who is backstage with Leo Burke and Lance Storm. She asks Burke the question that is on everyone’s minds – how does it feel knowing that tonight might be his last match on Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN? Burke says that it feels no different than every other time he has gone out there. Every time he steps foot in the ring might be the last time. There is no certainty when you commit to making wrestling your living, he says. However, what he does know is that he has been and always will be regarded as a better wrestler than Sylvain Grenier and so, if it should be his last time, at least he’ll make the fans happy by defeating that “cocky son of a bitch.” Lance Storm speaks up. He wants to be serious for a minute. He says that this will not be the last time that we see him and Leo Burke on Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN because, at PRIMETIME LIVE, he promises that they will force René Duprée and Sylvain Grenier out of Atlantic Canada.
Ed Whalen and Jeremy Borash are standing in the ring. There is a small table with an AGPW logo table skirt adorned to it in the middle of the ring. Whalen announces to the crowd to please welcome AGPW’s Chief of Staff, Sean Morley. Chief Morley comes down to the ring with a pair of briefcases in his hands. He sets them down on the table. Whalen asks the Chief what is inside of the briefcases. The Chief motions to Borash to open them. He opens the briefcases to reveal a pair of identical looking title belts. Chief Morley says that these are the grand prizes of tag team wrestling, North American Tag Team Championship title belts. He says that four teams will compete for these titles in two weeks, at PRIMETIME LIVE, but that tonight, one member of each team will compete in a quadruple threat match for a chance to win their tag team the 10-Minute Elimination Immunity. He says that the first person to score a pinfall in the quadruple threat match will guarantee that his team cannot be eliminated from the Fatal Fourway match until after the 10-minute mark. After that, he calls on one member from each team to come out here to compete for this prize.

Junkyard Dog vs. TAKA Michinoku vs. Trevor Murdoch vs. Mad Dog Vachon w/ Frenchy Martin
Junkyard Dog vs. TAKA Michinoku vs. Trevor Murdoch vs. Mad Dog Vachon w/ Frenchy Martin
The match begins at a very hectic pace with everyone throwing fists all over the place. This puts TAKA at a significant disadvantage as he’s much smaller than the rest of the men in this match. He ends up getting cornered and beaten down by Mad Dog Vachon. Meanwhile, Murdoch is starting to reel from some jabs and headbutts from the Junkyard Dog. JYD gets his man into the corner and starts to pound away at him. Then, JYD and Mad Dog attempt to whip their opponents, but they both reverse and the two dogs collide in the center of the ring. They’ve been bitter rivals recently and the tension shows as they start jawing away at each other. However, before they begin to fight, they’re both attacked from behind. Murdoch goes to work on JYD, while TAKA works on Vachon. After a little while, TAKA throws Vachon through the ropes and onto the floor. Then, he starts to work as a team with Murdoch to wear down JYD. One particularly good spot sees Murdoch and TAKA take JYD down with authority using a springboard clothesline, elevated spinebuster combo! After that move, Murdoch goes for the pin, only to have TAKA kick him between the shoulder blades. Now, TAKA and Murdoch square off with TAKA getting the better of the exchange, and he dropkicks Murdoch to the floor, then he runs to the far ropes and returns with an over the top rope somersault suicide dive to take out Murdoch. When he gets to his feet, Vachon levels him with a hard running clothesline. Vachon kicks at him, but Murdoch gets up and they trade chops. TAKA gets to his feet and everyone is exchanging blows until they see JYD on the ring apron and he takes them all out with a running cross-body block from the ring apron. This match continues after the break!
*Commercial Break 6*
We come back from the break to find that Murdoch has Vachon locked in an abdominal stretch. The hold is broken when TAKA clubs Murdoch from behind and then sweeps his legs, grabs both of them and pins with a bridging clutch, but JYD kicks his abdomen to break up the fall attempt. JYD picks up TAKA and gives him a vertical suplex. He covers, but Vachon pulls him off and drops an elbow into the back of JYD’s neck, then rolls him over and covers, only to have Murdoch break it with an axehandle smash to the back of the head. Murdoch backs Vachon into the ropes with some knife-edge chops and then goes to clothesline him out of the ring, only to get bodydropped to the floor instead. Then, TAKA takes him over the top rope with a spinning heel kick. TAKA grabs the top rope while performing the move and simply floats over to the ring apron, then climbs the turnbuckle, but he gets caught by JYD and thrown from the top down to the canvas! JYD runs over and nails a leg drop on him. He pins, but only gets two as Frenchy Martin pulls him off! JYD is furious. He goes outside and starts chasing Martin around the ring. Martin turns a corner, leading JYD right into a spear from Dino Bravo! This draws Bo Dallas, with his ribs tapped, running out from the back. Shortly thereafter, Funaki and Cade come out. A few extra officials run down to try to contain the insanity at ringside. Back in the ring, Vachon has TAKA ready for a piledriver, but he gets a superkick from Cade that knocks him out. TAKA pins, but the referee is busy trying to remove Cade from the ring. He finally turns around to exit, but Funaki was waiting for him and takes him down with a crane kick! Then, Funaki is clotheslined from the ring by Murdoch. He sees TAKA coming at him and he puts his foot up and drops him with a big boot. Murdoch pins, but Vachon pulls him off and starts choking him. The referee pushes Vachon off of Murdoch after he wouldn’t break the hold at the end of the 5-count. Vachon is pissed. While he’s arguing with the referee, Cade takes advantage and drops TAKA for the second time with another superkick! He exits the ring and Funaki attacks him. Meanwhile, Dallas is on the floor clutching his ribs after Bravo dropped him across the guardrail a couple of times. Bravo and JYD are brawling outside of the ring. Murdoch grabs Vachon from behind, while he’s arguing with the referee, and tosses him over the top rope. He sees TAKA trying to get up. He takes advantage by grabbing him and executing the Ace of Spades! The referee counts to three! Trevor Murdoch wins the 10-Minute Elimination Immunity for his team!
Official Decision: Trevor Murdoch wins by pinfall
We go backstage to find Al Snow and Head walking down a corridor. Snow is telling Head that he’s in a dire situation because he still hasn’t found a tag team partner for his match against the Cuban Assassins at PRIMETIME LIVE. He arrives at his dressing room door to find a note pinned to it. He pulls the note off of the door and reads it: “To defeat a couple of mad men, you have to enter the madness.” He repeats the line to himself and then ponders the meaning of it as he opens the door to his dressing room.
Then, rushing out of the dressing room are the Cuban Assassins! They give Snow a severe beat down, punching and kicking him several times, as well as throwing him against the wall a few times. The mad men have struck and left Snow bruised and battered. Will Snow figure out how to “enter the madness” and defeat his foes at PRIMETIME LIVE? We’ll find out in two weeks!

VS.
Leo Burke vs. Sylvain Grenier
This match is like a powder keg waiting to explode, as both René Duprée and Lance Storm are at ringside in support of their Losers Leave Town tag team partners. The match starts hot with Grenier getting the early advantage after jumping Burke before the bell. Grenier concentrates on trying to take the legs out from under Burke in the early going. However, Burke eventually gets back into it and grabs control of the match after reversing a whip attempt and planting Grenier into the mat with a spinning spinebuster. Burke starts to work at weakening Grenier’s neck and upper torso. After a bodyslam, Burke goes for a diving elbow drop from the second rope, but Grenier gets out of the way. They both get up and Grenier takes Burke down with a leg drag. Then, he starts trying to wrench Burke’s left knee. Burke manages to get elevated enough to pull Grenier down into a reverse chokehold, while his knee is being wrenched! Both men refuse to quit and they release the holds after only a few seconds. They both get up. Grenier tries to punch Burke, but he blocks it and hits Grenier in the face with a few elbows. He backs him into the ropes and goes for a whip, but Grenier reverses it. Grenier goes for a diving dropkick at Burke’s left leg, but he manages to leap over him. He doesn’t land well as his left knee is weak. This allows Grenier enough time to get up. Grenier charges at Burke, who catches him and sends him flying with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex! Burke gets up before Grenier and he lays into the Frenchman with some brutal knife-edge chops. Burke has him backed into the corner. He lifts Grenier and places him on the turnbuckle. Burke climbs up, but Grenier fights him off and sends him crashing to the mat. Grenier showboats for a moment and then leaps off of the turnbuckle, going for what looks like a senton bomb, only to miss it. After he gets up, Burke sweeps his legs and catapults him into the turnbuckle, and then locks on his sleeperhold. This prompts Duprée to jump onto the ring apron and grab the referee’s attention, which in turn prompts Storm to run around the ring and pull him down to the floor, thus starting up a fist fight on the outside. While the referee has his back turned, Grenier breaks the sleeperhold with a rear mule kick. He grabs Burke by the left leg and applies a single-leg Boston crab, all the while twisting at his knee to increase the pain. Burke struggles, but manages to crawl to the ropes after nearly 30 seconds. However, Duprée has grabbed the referee’s attention, allowing Grenier to keep the hold locked in. The referee has had enough of Duprée and has decided to toss him from ringside, but he refuses to leave. This isn’t doing Burke any favours as he’s clutching the bottom rope, but not getting a rope break. Finally, Storm is up after having earlier been thrown hard into the ringsteps. He hits Duprée in the back with a chair and tells the referee to look at the match. The ref sees Burke has the ropes, but Grenier won’t release the hold for another 4 seconds. Burke has been in the hold for about a minute! Out on the floor, Storm sits down on Duprée and pummels him with lefts and rights. Meanwhile, Grenier pulls Burke away from the ropes and drives his knee into the mat, repeatedly. He turns Burke around, who manages to get his right foot up into Grenier’s face and then both feet against his chest to kick away. Burke gets up, but he’s a bit wobbly on his left leg. Grenier gets up just as fast. He charges over and Burke gives him a drop toehold that causes Grenier to get choked out on the middle rope. Burke is slow to get up, giving Grenier time to recover without suffering any follow up moves. He tries to clothesline Burke, but he ducks it and then gives Grenier a brainbuster! He locks on the sleeperhold. Grenier manages to get up to his feet, but doesn’t have enough strength to power his way to the ropes and eventually falls back to a seated position, where his hand is raised and dropped three times, thus awarding the victory to Leo Burke!
Official Decision: Leo Burke wins by putting his opponent to sleep
Ed Whalen: Leo Burke comes through big with a win in what may have been his last appearance on Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN!
Jeremy Borash: If it was his last match on Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling, he made sure it was a good one and he’s sending the fans home happy with a victory. Only time will tell if we see him back on this show again.
Ed Whalen: He’ll have at least one more match in an Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling ring. Join us in two weeks when we come at you live and in primetime. Saturday, July 20, at 8 pm AST, it’ll be Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling’s PRIMETIME LIVE!
Jeremy Borash: Could it be Leo Burke’s final match in Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling, or will the owner’s very own son, René Duprée, be forced to leave Atlantic Canada when Leo Burke & Lance Storm face La Résistance in a Losers Leave Town Tag Team Match!
Ed Whalen: Plus the North American Tag Team title will be awarded in a Fatal Fourway match when Junkyard Dog & Bo Dallas, the Montréal Mafia, Kaientai and Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch battle to become the champions.
Jeremy Borash: And don’t forget that Cade & Murdoch can’t be eliminated during the first 10-minutes of the match, giving them an advantage over their opponents.
Ed Whalen: Plus, there’s a 6-man tag team tables match, Al Snow and partner – if he even finds one – versus the Cuban Assassins, Magnus vs. Chavo Guerrero, and Test vs. Elix Skipper.
Jeremy Borash: And let’s not forget that the biggest prize in Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling, the International Heavyweight Championship, will be awarded to either “The Iceman” Dean Malenko or Chris Candido.
Ed Whalen: It’s all coming at you two weeks from tonight at PRIMETIME LIVE! In the meantime and in-between time, I’m Ed Whelan with my broadcast partner Jeremy Borash, wishing you a bon adieu!
