When one truck gets stuck in the mud, there’s always three more ready to pull it out.
Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling dedicates this show to Stampede Wrestling country – Calgary, Canmore, Banff, and Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada – where many members of AGPW call home: Ed Whalen, Lance Storm, Natalya Neidhart, Biff Wellington, the Cuban Assassins, Leo Burke (who now resides there), and a region that I called home from September, 2006 to March, 2010.
The rains and the floods cannot defeat you.

And now on with our show…
Ed Whalen: Good evening, Atlantic Canada! Welcome to Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN. I’m Ed Whalen.
Jeremy Borash: And I’m Jeremy Borash. And we have an excellent night of wrestling in store for you. Tonight, we will see all four quarterfinal matches in the International Heavyweight Championship title tournament, plus a tag team steel cage match!
Ed Whalen: It’s sure to be a ring-a-ding-dong-dandy when Team Canada’s Petey Williams and Eric Young take on Robbie E and Robbie T, otherwise known as the Jersey Shore.
Jeremy Borash: That match has been a long time in the making. Fans, we’ll also be seeing the Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling tag team debut of René Duprée and Sylvain Grenier, known together throughout the wrestling world as La Résistance. They will face the Southern Boys.
Ed Whalen: Plus, Chief Morley is here to make sure that the show runs smoothly. He also told me that he has an announcement to make concerning next week’s show. I wonder what that could be.
Jeremy Borash: I don’t know, but I’m looking forward to finding out. However, first up, we will see the first of four International Heavyweight Championship title quarterfinal matches. We have a huge matchup to open the show, as the Junkyard Dog is set to go one-on-one against “Marvelous” Marc Mero.
VS. w/
Junkyard Dog vs. “Marvelous” Marc Merow/ Candice Michelle
This match begins with some on the part of “Marvelous” Marc Mero. He doesn’t seem to be too interested in locking horns with the Junkyard Dog. Candice Michelle is at ringside, providing both encouragement to Mero and attempting to grab JYD’s attention, but the Dog doesn’t bite. His focus is solidly on his opponent, and he stalks him around the ring. After a few minutes of false starts and little else to tell you about, JYD appears to give up. He says that he doesn’t need this crap and decides to walk out on the match, leaving Mero in the ring to celebrate and boast about how amazing he is. Even Candice Michelle enters the ring and raises his hand. JYD stops half way down the entrance aisle and sprints back to the ring and slides in before the referee can finish counting him out. He catches Mero off guard with a big clothesline, some punches, and a bodyslam before pinning him for a 2-count. Mero tries to escape from the ring, but JYD catches him and keeps the offense coming, much to the delight of the fans. JYD gains a lot of momentum and hits Mero with nearly everything he’s got. Finally, he’s prepared to go for his finisher. It’s Thump time! JYD whips Mero into the ropes, but he clutches onto the top rope to stop him from running into JYD’s powerslam. JYD runs at him for a clothesline, but Mero ducks it and lifts him over the top rope. Mero runs to the far ropes and returns to jump over the top rope and take JYD down with a somersault plancha! Now, Mero is control. He takes JYD back into the ring and goes to work on the big man. After methodically working away at him for a few minutes, Mero decides to go into his end game. He climbs to the top rope and lands a Merosault on JYD. He hooks the leg, but JYD kicks out at two. Mero picks up JYD and sends him into the corner. He charges in, but gets a boot to the face. Mero recovers quickly and tries to kick JYD, but he catches Mero’s leg and then levels him with a stiff clothesline. JYD goes for the cover, but Mero kicks out. JYD picks him up and gives him a big suplex, followed by an elbow drop to the solar plexus. He covers, but Mero gets his shoulder up. JYD brings him to his feet and whips him into the corner. He charges in, but Mero gets out of the corner. JYD manages to put the brakes on and stops just short of hitting the turnbuckle. Mero tries to exit the ring, but JYD grabs him as he’s half way through the ropes and brings him back into the ring only to receive a knee to the abdomen and then get put into a small package. JYD kicks out just in time. Mero gets up and goes for an Irish whip, but JYD reverses it and puts his head down for a back bodydrop. Mero takes him down with a sunset flip, but JYD rolls through and clutches Mero’s legs for a 2-count. They both get up and JYD tries to strike, but Mero takes him down with a drop toehold and then tries to pin him with an Oklahoma roll, but JYD kicks out. Then, he legsweeps JYD as he’s trying to get up and pins him, hooking both his legs with a European clutch. Mero stretches his arms out towards the ring apron and Candice Michelle grabs him by the hands and pulls for added leverage, which proves to be too much for JYD to kick out of. The referee counts to three with his back to Candice Michelle, thus giving Mero the win and securing him a place in the International Heavyweight Championship semifinals.
Official Decision: “Marvelous” Marc Mero wins by pinfall

SoCal Val is backstage with Team Canada’s Petey Williams and Eric Young to get their thoughts on their steel cage match tonight. They tell Val how they’re ready to put an end to their feud with Jersey Shore by beating Robbie E and Robbie T inside of the steel cage.
“Marvelous” Marc Mero and his personal trainer, Candice Michelle, interrupt by walking through the interview set as they celebrate Mero’s win. Williams tells Mero to get out of there, while Young’s attention zeroes in on Candice Michelle. He wants to know why she hasn’t been returning any of his calls over the last 3 weeks. She tells him to get a life and Mero tells Williams to check his jealousy at the door and to get out of his spotlight. Williams steps forward and shoves Mero, who responds by throwing his fists. Young starts hitting Mero from behind to get him off of his partner as various backstage officials and security personnel swarm into the area to break things up.
VS.
La Résistance vs. The Southern Boys
The Southern Boys get out to a hot start in this one, much to the surprise of René Duprée and Sylvain Grenier. They get punched, kicked, arm dragged, body dropped and dropkicked all over the ring. Finally, Tracy Smothers and Steve Armstrong hit stereo clotheslines that send both Duprée and Grenier over the ropes and to the floor, and they receive some good pops from the crowd. They express some disinterest in continuing with the match, but eventually, Grenier enters the ring and locks up with Armstrong and starts to gain control of the match. The advantage changes hands a few times, but Duprée and Grenier do enough underhanded and illegal maneuvers to take control of the match and win it after giving Smothers their Bonsoir double spinebuster finisher.
Official Decision: La Résistance wins by pinfall
After the match, Duprée and Grenier grab a microphone. Duprée says that it is a shame that Lance Storm lost his match last week and that he can’t win the International Heavyweight Title, now. Then, he hands the microphone over to Grenier, who says that their enemies always seem to have bad luck and that there’s no reason to think that tonight won’t be any different than last week.

w/ VS. w/
Chris Candido w/ Sunny vs. Dino Bravo w/ Frenchy Martin
Dino Bravo overpowers Chris Candido in the early going, but “Canada’s Strongest Man” can’t seem to keep his attention solely on his opponent. He has his eye on the antics of Sunny, who is going around ringside engaging the fans and being flirtatious with some of the men in the front rows. Her behaviour keeps grabbing his attention. Frenchy Martin is tries to get the referee to stop her antics and get Bravo’s attention to keep him focused on the match. However, he has no luck on either front. Bravo’s lack of focus gets him into trouble, as it allows Candido to mount a comeback and gain the advantage. Candido is in the driver’s seat until Martin decides to throw his game off by approaching Sunny and arguing with her. They are in a shouting match at ringside and Martin pulls Sunny’s hair, causing her to scream. Candido and the referee look over, allowing Bravo to give Candido a low blow. Upon getting to his feet, he takes Candido over with a suplex and then gives him a part of knee drops to the forehead. Bravo pins, but Candido kicks out. Meanwhile, Sunny retaliates by slapping Martin in the face, then pulling his flag stick from out of his hands and hitting him with it. Bravo sees this and he leaves the ring. He slowly approaches Sunny, intimidating her and backing her into a corner. As he gets within a few feet of her, Candido tackles him from the side and they crash into the guardrail. Candido press slams Bravo across the top of the guardrail, then slams his face into the ring steps before rolling him back into the ring. He shows off his own power by lifting Bravo into the air and holding him there for several seconds before finishing off his suplex. Candido gets up and sees Sunny quickly crawling across the canvas of the ring and Martin climbing onto the ring apron. Candido goes over and grabs him the lapels of his coat to warn him to leave Sunny alone. Bravo gets up and comes over to give him a double axehandle smash to his back, but Candido moves and Bravo strikes Martin, causing him to fall off the ring apron and onto the floor. Candido kicks Bravo and gives him a gutwrench powerbomb. He goes to the turnbuckle and flies off, hitting Bravo with the New Jersey Jam! He covers for the 3-count and the win.
Official Decision: Chris Candido wins by pinfall
*Commercial Break 3*
We return from the break to find SoCal Val with Al Snow and Head. She is prepared to conduct an interview, but Snow and Head are bickering about something. Finally, she interjects and they stop. Snow immediately says that he and Head are definitely on the same page and that rumours of their impending breakup are “without substance and categorically false.” Val pauses for a moment before choosing to leave it alone and instead asks him about his on-going issues with the Cuban Assassin. Snow begins to speaks, when gets hit in the back by a steel chair.
Val jumps to get out of the way and calls for help as the two Cuban Assassins hit Snow with the chair a few more times while he’s already down. When they stop, they ask for SoCal to come over. She hands them the microphone and decides to back away for her own safety. The Cuban Assassin, in his broken English, says that there is no point in hiding the fact that there are two of them and that it is time to officially acknowledge that his son, Cuban Assassin Jr., is here to help him wreak havoc on the wrestling world. He also says that anyone who chooses to cross their path will suffer untold pain and suffering just like Al Snow has.
Chief of Staff, Sean Morley, comes to the ring to make a special announcement on behalf of Emile Duprée. He has two things to tell the fans. First, he is pleased to announce that a special 3-hour edition Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2013. It will go to air live in primetime and the event will be known as Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling: Primetime Live. He says that it will be a special and historic event because that is when the International Heavyweight Championship and the North American Tag Team Championship titles will finally be awarded.
Second, he wants everyone to know that he is officially announcing that 8 tag teams have been selected to compete in qualifying matches for a Fatal Fourway match that will determine which team will be crowned the North American Tag Team Champions. That Fatal Fourway match will be held on the Primetime Live telecast, on July 20, 2013. He goes on to say that all four qualifying matches will take place next week on Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling on ASN.
Before he can continue, Test’s music hits and he comes down to the ring to confront Chief Morley. He takes a microphone and complains to Morley about the unfair treatment he’s received from Atlantic Grand Prix’s Chief of Staff. Morley doesn’t believe that he’s been treated unfairly and asks Test to give him his list of grievances. Test says that Morley unfairly denied him the opportunity to wrestle last week. He says that he was told that he was not scheduled to compete and that there would be no time to fit him into the program, but yet when Bobby Bass came to the ring later on that night to complain about not having a match, he was granted his wish. He wants Morley to explain to him how that’s not fair.
Morley feeds him an insincere line about the programme running quicker than expected and that there was some time to fill, so he allowed him to have his match. Test doesn’t believe him and calls him a liar. Morley takes offense to the claim. Test then says that, just like Bobby Bass refused to leave the ring last week, he refuses to leave the ring until Morley sends his Kung Fu henchmen out to remove him from the ring. Morley says that he can’t authorize that to happen because there is no time for it on tonight’s show. Test tells him that if he isn’t going to find the time to add him to tonight’s show, he’s going to at least make him find the time to get his ass kicked! And with that, Test steps forward and smokes the Chief of Staff in the face with his big boot. He picks Morley up and gives him a pump-handle slam, then sits down on top of him and starts throwing fists at his head.
Finally, he’s stopped when “Primetime” Elix Skipper enters the ring and delivers a diving spinning heel kick to the side of Test’s head. Skipper goes to follow up on that move, but Test rolls out of the ring to safety. He points at Skipper and promises revenge as he walks away and we go to commercial.

VS.
“The Iceman” Dean Malenko vs. Leo Burke
This is a good match fought mostly in the catch style. Both men are submission specialists and they spend a good portion of the match just trying to wear one another down to prepare them for their finishing holds. Both men are very technically sound and they make every single move count. Each decision that they make is for a reason. Malenko is targeting Burke’s back and knees, while Burke focuses most of his attack on Malenko’s head and upper body. Malenko finds that the veteran, Burke, can’t be put to rest very easily, so he starts to speed up the pace of the match and Burke does a great job of keeping up with him. The match transitions into a segment in which both men try everything they can to score a pinfall victory, but neither man can be put away. After Burke’s final pinfall attempt, he brings Malenko to his feet and tries to send him into the corner, but Malenko reverses it and pulls Burke into a knee strike to his abdomen. Then, Malenko tries to go for a side Russian legsweep, but Burke elbows him to the side of the head, then spins around to his backside and gives him rolling German suplexes. Burke sits Malenko up and slaps on his sleeperhold. Malenko frantically tries to break it and just manages to succeed by momentarily getting to his feet and then falling down to give Burke a jawbreaker. Then, Malenko locks on the Texas cloverleaf, but Burke makes it to the ropes after about 15 seconds. Burke gets up and he and Malenko start beating their chests red with chops. Malenko knocks Burke down with a succession of chops. He grabs Burke to pick him up, but Burke tackles him into the turnbuckles and gives him a few shoulders to the mid-section. Burke lifts Malenko and places him on the top turnbuckle. He climbs up and tries to go for a superplex, but Malenko has his hand on the top rope. Both men are in a struggle to jab each other in the ribs. Malenko and Burke eventually both get to a standing position on the top rope. Burke tries to lift Malenko, but he continues to fight it and Burke loses him. Burke falls into the ring while Malenko falls face first to the floor! The referee leaves the ring to check on Malenko, giving La Résistance a perfect opportunity to enter the ring and put the boots to Burke.
They bring him to his feet, whip him into the ropes, and give him Bonsoir! Lance Storm slides into the ring, but he’s too late to make the save and he’s outnumbered. He tries to fight Duprée and Grenier, but they are too much for him to handle. They take him outside of the ring and beat on him, eventually finishing their assault with a double team vertical suplex in the entrance aisle. Malenko is hurt, but he’s made it to his feet and insists on continuing the match. He has no idea that Burke was attacked. He sees Burke trying to get up by pulling on the ropes. Malenko goes over and kicks him back down to the mat. He picks him up and plants him into the canvas with a gutwrench powerbomb and covers him for the win. “The Iceman” Dean Malenko is moving onto the semifinals!
Official Decision: “The Iceman” Dean Malenko wins by pinfall
We find Chief Morley in his office kicking cabinets and throwing things around. Then, we hear a knock on the door. Morley stops and says, “Enter!” It’s Al Snow and Head. Morley asks Snow what he can do for him, but then Snow asks him why his office looks like a bomb went off in it. Morley says that he’s angry about having been attacked by Test and that he needs to punish him for it, but he’s unsure whether he wants to let him off the hook with a suspension. Snow suggests that he forces Test to have a handicapped match against two people that he surely couldn’t beat. Morley thinks that’s a great idea, so he’s going to make Test have his debut match be a handicapped match, next week. Morley thanks Snow for his excellent idea and tells him that he can have anything he wants in return. Snow says that he wants a match against the Cuban Assassins. Morley says that it is granted and that the match will happen on PRIMETIME LIVE, but asks him who his tag team partner will be. Snow replies that he doesn’t have a partner, to which Morley tells him that he needs a partner. Snow says that he hadn’t thought about it. He’s not sure who his tag team partner will be. He and Head start discussing his options as they leave Morley’s office.

SoCal Val is with Maryse Ouellet. Val wants to know if Maryse will reveal any more details about her plans as a manager in Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling. She asks Maryse if she’s been busy scouting the local talent. Maryse responds that she isn’t interested in local talent. She says that the local wrestlers aren’t the same calibre of athlete as you will find on the world stage. She claims to be bigger than the Atlantic Canadian region and that she herself is a global brand. She notes that her new management firm is international in scope and so her focus is to take on clients who are from other parts of the world and bring them here as their stop on their paths to international superstardom.
VS. w/
Elix Skipper vs. Mad Dog Vachonw/ Frenchy Martin
Elix Skipper uses his speed to keep Mad Dog Vachon off balance and off his game in the early going. Skipper hits him with a bunch of kicks and high-flying, high-octane offense, proving to even the biggest of sceptics why he is called “Primetime.” He’s all over Mad Dog until Frenchy Martin finds an opportunity to grab the middle rope and shake it while Skipper attempts to springboard off of it. This causes Skipper to fall on the back of his head and gives Mad Dog a chance to dictate a slower pace, complete with punches, kicks, eye gauges, back rakes and various chokeholds. If there was ever a wrestler who took full advantage of the referee’s 5-count for illegal holds, it was the Mad Dog. Despite all of the illegal holds and maneuvers, he can’t get Skipper to stay down for a 3-count. He decides to have Frenchy Martin run a distraction for him while he removes a turnbuckle pad. He goes for an Irish whip into the exposed turnbuckle, but Skipper reverses it and Mad Dog takes it to his chest and then hits it a second time with his face after Skipper dropkicks him in the back. Skipper pulls Vachon away from the corner and pins him, but he only gets a 2-count. Skipper brings Mad Dog to his feet and gives him Sudden Death! He covers, but Frenchy Martin has the referee’s attention.
This gives Test an opportunity to rush to the ring and attack Skipper. He tries to fight him off, but it becomes too much when Mad Dog gets up and joins in the beatdown, while Martin refuses to let the referee turn his attention away from him, as he’s standing on the ring apron. Vachon and Test set Skipper up for the knockout blow Vachon tries to whip Skipper, but he reverses it and Vachon eats Test’s running big boot. Then Skipper grabs Test and throws him over the top rope and onto the floor. Skipper grabs the referee’s attention and points out that Test is there. The referee calls for assistance and officials come out to escort Test away from ringside. Meanwhile, Skipper gives Mad Dog the Play of the Day and pins him for the win! Elix Skipper is moving onto the semifinals.
Official Decision: Elix Skipper wins by pinfall
*Commercial Break 6*
Lance Storm and Leo Burke are seen entering the Chief of Staff’s office. They’re both upset about being attacked by La Résistance and having those attacks cost them their chances at gaining the International Heavyweight Title. They want Morley to grant them a tag team match next week. Morley apologizes to them because he can’t do it. He says that La Résistance was already selected as one of the eight team competiting in the fatal fourway qualifying matches next week. Storm wonders what they’ll do now and Burke tells him that they’ll just have to come up with another plan to get even with them. As they open the door to leave, Morley tells them that he’ll gladly book them a match against La Résistance at a later date, whenever they want, as long as they’re willing to help him with a problem of his own.
VS.
Tag Team Steel Cage Match
Team Canada vs. Jersey Shore
Team Canada vs. Jersey Shore
So it has all come down to this: Team Canada vs. the Jersey Shore, inside of a steel cage. It starts out with a full on battle of fisticuffs. Petey gets the better of his exchange with RE, but the massive RT gets the better of Young and after pressing him high over his head and throwing him into the side of the cage, he rescue RE from the pummeling that he’s receiving from Maple Leaf Muscle, Petey Williams. The match turns into a double beat down of Petey until Young recovers and takes RE out of the equation with a big release German suplex. However, he can’t get anything going, as RT nearly takes him out of his boots with a hard lariat. RT kicks at both men while they’re down, until RE gets up. RE picks Young and directs RT to focus on Petey and both guys take their time doing damage to the home side, while periodically egging on the crowd. Both Robbies have Team Canada in opposite corners and they whip Petey and Young into the center of the ring wear they run into each other. They both stumble back in a daz from the collision, so the Robbies explode of the corners to take them both out, only to have Team Canada collapse to the mat and the Jersey Shore clothesline each other with authority. Everyone’s down on the mat as we cut to our final commercial.
*Commercial Break 7*
We return from the commercial break to find that the Canadians have found their way back into the match and are working as a well-oiled team, with plenty of double team maneuvers to keep their opponents grounded. Having worked over the Jersey Shore for a while, they decide to finally head for the exits. Each man begins to climb. RE gets up and sees them both approaching the top. He shakes RT back to life. RE runs to the corner and climbs the turnbuckle. He grabs Petey by the leg and pulls him down while he hammers away at his lower back with his other fist. Meanwhile, RT gets Young seated onto his shoulders, and in the spot of the night, falls backward off the turnbuckle for an electric chair from the top rope! Chants of “This is awesome!” can be heard throughout the arena. Petey gets the better of RE, shoving him to the mat. RT starts to make his way over towards the corner and Petey jumps at him and takes him down with a flying huricanrana! Petey drags his lifeless partner’s body over to the ropes, near the cage door and tells him to crawl out, while he fends off his opponents. Young slowly starts to move. Meanwhile, Petey takes RE down with a dropkick and then lays into RT with some chops before taking him down with a leg drag. The referee’s open the cage door and Young starts to pull himself through it when…
… “Marvelous” Marc Mero shoves the referee away and slams the door shut, bashing Young in the head! Candice Michelle is with him. She sees to it that the door remains shut. Petey gets distracted by the loud bang and looks to see Candice Michelle at the cage door. He comes over and shouts at her while he tries to force the door open. Meanwhile, Mero is digging some tables out from under the ring. Then, he comes over to help Candice hold the door shut on Petey, until he gets attacked from behind by both members of the Jersey Shore. The beat down is on. RE pulls Young away from the corner where the door is and starts beating away at his lifeless body. Mero brings a pair of tables into the ring, one at a time, then he gives Candice a lock and a chain and goes into the ring. She locks all five men into the cage and has a good laugh about it while an army of officials show up, only to find that they have no way in (because everyone knows that zebras can’t climb). The three-on-two beat down is brutal. Both men are ravaged by the steel structure around the ring. RE gives them both the Shore Thing. Then, to finish off the affair, RT puts Petey through a table with the Freakbuster and Mero climbs the top rope, with Young laid out on a table, and takes him through it with his Marvelocity (shooting star press)! Mero and the Jersey Shore stand triumphant before scaling the sides of the cage and coming down to the floor, all the while Ed Whalen and Jeremy Borash decry the vicious assault that we’ve all just witnessed. Once again, Team Canada has been laid to ruins at the hands of “Marvelous” Marc Mero and the Jersey Shore.
Official Decision: Jersey Shore wins after both members exit the cage
