Full Gear Preview (Nov. 20, 2022) Live, from the United Center in Chicago, IL: AEW World Championship: Cody Rhodes © vs. Brian Cage
Cody Rhodes’ lifelong quest to win a World Championship for a major promotion finally completed at Grand Slam night 2, where he defeated Jeff Jarrett for the AEW World Championship in a ladder match. In the lead-up to that match, Rhodes and the Young Bucks entered into a feud with Brian Cage’s new faction — now known as Natural Selection — after Cage returned to action at September’s All Out PPV. Cage won a Battle Royale there to earn a title shot at Full Gear. Cage laid Rhodes out at the most recent Dynamite. Stadium Stampede: Chosen Bros, Dude Love, RVD and Sabu vs. The Apex
Matt Riddle and Jeff Cobb have been embroiled in a feud with Jeff Jarrett’s Apex practically since the first episode of Dynamite, when Riddle’s overtures of friendship were rebuffed by Jarrett. Since that time (back in April), Jarrett has defeated Cobb and Riddle in championship matches with some help from his Apex cronies and his guitars. The Bros have also traded wins with Beer Money, who has cost Cobb and Riddle over the months. Jarrett blames the Bros and Mick Foley for losing his championship, and now both sides want to put an end in AEW’s first Stadium Stampede match. Riddle was able to recruit his idol, Rob Van Dam and another ECW original in Sabu to his team. The two teams will fight throughout the arena in a Falls Count Anywhere match. The first fall gets the win.
UWA Women’s Championship: Sasha Banks © vs. Beth Phoenix “The Boss” has been the UWA Women’s Champion for 11 months, first as a member of WCW and now on the AEW roster. She has fought tough competition nationwide and defended the title in AEW for the first time at Grand Slam, against Jade Cargill. Beth Phoenix debuted during that match and stole the belt, all but demanding a shot at the title. Phoenix defeated Ronda Rousey this week on Dynamite to earn the official shot at the title at Full Gear. She promises to be a formidable challenge for The Boss. AEW All-Atlantic Championship: Jake Hager © vs. Gable Steveson Gable Steveson started his professional wrestling career hot, with a win in his debut match over Jake Hager. His undefeated streak continued until he won the All-Atlantic Championship over the summer. For Hager, a loss to the surprise debut of Samoa Joe, lit a fire in Hager that led to consecutive wins over Joe, Jon Moxley and finally Steveson for the championship. Hager granted Steveson the rematch at Full Gear, but said it’s the rookie’s final shot at the belt as long as Hager is champion. AEW Women’s Championship: No DQ: Jade Cargill © vs. Paige VanZant Jade Cargill remains undefeated in AEW as the first ever Women’s Champion. She defeated Paige VanZant in a physical match for the belt back at Fyter Fest in April. VanZant has been on a quest to earn another chance at the title, and a win over the red-hot Taynara Melo at Grand Slam has given her the opportunity. Cargill faced Sasha Banks for the UWA Championship at Grand Slam, but the match was thrown out after Beth Phoenix attacked both competitors and stole the belt. Can VanZant capitalize on Cargill’s distracted priorities? Or will Cargill continue her dominant run? AEW Tag Team Championship: Steiner Bros. © vs. The Outsiders The Steiners and the Outsiders are a feud that dates back over 25 years. The Steiners are one of the most successful tag teams in history, while the Outsiders kickstarted a wrestling revolution when they jumped to WCW 25 years ago. Now the Steiners are undefeated in tag team competition in AEW, while Scott Hall and Kevin Nash want to end the Steiners’ reign and put their own stamp on the division. Hall tried to sow seeds of discontent with the brothers, but Rick and Scott maintain that their bond is strong and unbreakable. Raven’s Rules Match: Raven vs. Malakai Black After his loss to Jeff Jarrett earlier this year, Raven set his sights on rekindling his passion for wrestling by pursuing Hook to fill the role of in-ring mentor for his former ECW counterpart’s son. Raven beat Taz in a Falls Count Anywhere match at All Out and began officially mentoring Hook. He crossed Malakai Black when Raven also sought to add House of Black member Billy Kidman to his group. Black defeated Raven in a standard match at Grand Slam, after spraying Hook with his mist and distracting Raven. Now Black has offered for Hook to join his group, and Hook has been MIA for the past two weeks. Raven challenged Black to a Raven’s Rules match. Barbed Wire Match: Samoa Joe vs. Jon Moxley Samoa Joe cost Jon Moxley a win against Jake Hager in Mox’s AEW debut, when Joe tried to attack Hager mid-match. Mox intervened and was busted open in the process. They fought at Grand Slam, where Mox caught Joe with a surprise uppercut and a Paradigm Shift for a quick victory. An angry Joe attacked Mox after the match and bloodied him again. The following week on Dynamite, they fought in the parking lot and Joe tossed Mox through a car windshield. The next week, Mox attacked Joe’s car with a baseball bat and Tony Khan ordered them to stay away from each other until Full Gear. Mox challenged Joe to a Barbed Wire match at the event. Natural Selection (Shelton Benjamin & Cedric Alexander) vs. Young Bucks A late addition to the show, the Bucks and Natural Selection have been on a collision course for weeks. Natural Selection beat the Bucks and Cody Rhodes during Grand Slam with the help of a guitar shot from Jeff Jarrett. Now the teams are meeting in a standard tag match for the first time.

WWE Breaking News (December 23rd, 2022): After an intense war of words on social media, the special guest host of WrestleMania III, Logan Paul, has accepted the challenge of a match by "Ravishing" Rick Rude. Their week-long feud over social media began when Rude wrote some disparaging words about Paul. Upset that the social media superstar was receiving so much attention for his upcoming involvement in WrestleMania III while he was left off the event, he berated Paul several times. Paul didn't take the personal attacks sitting down, and when he said that he could beat Rude in a match, Rude challenged him to a match, saying he would make Paul regret saying he could beat a real WWE superstar.

Earlier today Shooting Star Pro-Wrestling officials Shinji Yoshino (ARASHI Vision representative), Katsumi Sasazaki (SSPW President), and Keiichi Yamada ("Jushin Liger"/SSPW Founder) met with National Wrestling Alliance Commissioner Jim Barnett and his staff at their Charlotte, North Carolina, main headquarters. With the closure of All Japan Pro-Wrestling at the end of last year and with the announcement of Shooting Star Pro-Wrestling beginning operations in Japan, Shooting Star Pro-Wrestling is now negotiating terms to become the NWA's partner in the Far East. By all accounts this meeting went well, and we should be expecting further announcements as SSPW gears up for its debut show in February.

Earlier this morning SSPW President Katsumi Sasazaki and SSPW Founder Keiichi Yamada had a meeting with the co-founder of the famed and now defunct All Japan Women's Wrestling promotion, Kenji Matsunaga. Both parties were able to successfully come to an agreement on the rights to the World Women's Wrestling Association championships. The Matsunaga brothers had acquired the rights back in 1968, but the WWWA Single Championship has lineage dating back to Mildred Burke in 1937. Per the source, Matsunaga has agreed to come on in a background advisory role to assure the integrity of the championship and the lineage, while SSPW has now acquired one of the most prestigious sets of women's championships in the world to use in their promotion. The sight of the legendary red belt will surely be warmly received by fans of the promotion, which looks to host their first event in mid-February.
