Musician Billy Corgan announces plan to launch new wrestling company
Miami, FL – The professional wrestling brand Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling is about to be revived and revamped under a new ownership group led by musician Billy Corgan, principle and founding member of the band The Smashing Pumpkins.
Corgan’s ownership group, which includes superstar rapper and producer Rick Ross, and one the hottest singers on the planet today, the Puerto Rican hip-hop megastar Bad Bunny, sought to purchase the rights to the dormant wrestling brand to bring it out of hibernation, albeit with a fresh look and focus on featuring up-and-coming talent who will be “wrestling’s legends of tomorrow.”
Corgan announced that Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling (AGPW), which closed its doors seven years ago, will be revived as Grand Prix Wrestling (GPW). Founded over 50 years ago in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada by Emile Duprée (and later owned and operated by his son, the former WWE superstar René Duprée), AGPW was a staple of Atlantic Canadian wrestling for decades before growing to become a national Canadian brand during the old Mash-Up Wrestling days. According to Corgan, there is a legacy and prestige in the Grand Prix name, and while the promotion will initially focus on building brand awareness in large and mid-sized wrestling markets up-and-down the Atlantic seaboard, it hopes to one day promote events across North America. For this reason, Corgan said, it is important to retire the parts of the past the will confine it to a future as a small regional promotion.
Corgan, who assumes the roles of President and CEO of GPW, introduced industry veteran William Regal, who will act as Vice-President of Talent Relations and General Manager of GPW Events. Regal said he was excited to take on this new role. Scouting and training talent is a long-time passion of his, and he cannot wait to put those talents to use as he works with Corgan to construct a roster of young talented wrestlers who are hungry to make a name for themselves. He said the roster would be anchored by a handful of veterans who are still in the middle of their prime.
Corgan when on to announce that the first GPW event, entitled GPW RESURRECTION, will take place on Saturday, March 11 at the Miami-Dade Arena, home of the NBA Miami Heat. Tickets for the event go on sale this Tuesday. Viewers at home will also be available to see it on Fite Network and, pending approval of its UWA membership, in the UWA Event Center.
Regal announced that GPW RESURRECTION will feature a double main event with Bryan Danielson (who is a former WWF World Heavyweight Champion, BCCW Heavyweight Champion, and AEW World Champion) set to face Adam Cole (who is a former GWA World Champion, a 2-time FWA United States Champion, BCCW Flyweight Champion, and WWE Intercontinental Champion), and A.J. Styles (who is a former UWA Men’s Universal Champion, GWA World Champion, BCCW Middleweight Champion, and 2-time BCCW Television Champion) squaring off against The Miz (who is a former 2-time BCCW Television Champion, GWA United States Champion, WCW United States Champion, and holder of the Lucha Underground Gift of the Gods). The winners of those two respective matches will compete for the GPW Championship at a future event on a future date. Other matches for GPW RESURRECTION will be announced in the coming weeks.

Grand Prix Wrestling announces second premium live event
We already know that Grand Prix Wrestling will hold its first show, GPW RESURRECTION, on Saturday, March 11, live from the Miami-Dade Arena in Miami, Florida. That show will feature a double main event with A.J. Styles versus The Miz and Daniel Bryan versus Adam Cole. When speaking to the media this afternoon, GPW President Billy Corgan said that more matches will be announced before the end of the month for that event.
However, what might be even bigger news is that Corgan confirmed that GPW will hold its next premium live event on Saturday, April 22. GPW FIGHT TO WIN will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Corgan has confirmed that the winners of the GPW RESURRECTION double main events will headline GPW FIGHT TO WIN. The winner of that match will be crowned the inaugural GPW Men's World Champion. Corgan promised that other championship titles will be awarded at GPW FIGHT TO WIN in Brooklyn, confirmed that a Women's World Champion will also be crowned. Additional details are forthcoming in the days and weeks ahead.
Corgan has also confirmed that GPW is shopping the broadcast rights for either a weekly or biweekly show, but would not be surprised if one isn't signed until after networks see how the company's first show fairs.
Tickets for GPW FIGHT TO WIN go on sale to the general public March 1st at 10:00 AM Eastern Standard Time. A limited quantity of tickets are available for GPW RESURRECTION and are on sale now.

From: Mr. Paul Nitro- President of WWE To: Members of the Press and Fans of UWA RE: WWE Status Date:4/2/2023
Over the past several months, you have not seen live WWE programming and have noticed that the Royal Rumble in Boston that was scheduled for February 19th was cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control. Well, I am writing this to inform everyone as to what is going on as of late. After the January 9th edition of Raw, there was a confrontation after the tapings between certain WWE superstars and me over creative and other litigating matters. The confrontation was hostile at best with several talents walking out of building and vowing to not fulfill the contracts that they have signed with the company. The next morning, I received a call from Jack Tunney-President of the UWA addressing the phone call he received that morning from a representative of some of the talent that had left the building that evening. Mr. Tunney informed me that they are seeking a release or trade of their services to another organization. I stated that if this is what they wanted, all they had to do was ask in a professional manner instead of the hostile attitude that they displayed that evening. I informed Mr. Tunney that I would go to work immediately on their request. Then, on January 13th, I get a call from a Fox and USA Network executives, and they have informed me that they are backing out of their television deals with the WWE since they preferred to work for Mr. McMahon instead of myself and that the shows were suffering because of it. After several minutes of discussion, I decided to no longer do business with Fox and USA Network, and I wished them the best. As far as the Raw and Smackdown shows, they are the property of the networks, and I will not be using their show format in the near future.
In the end, I did decide to give the wrestlers and staff a temporary vacation and shut down the WWE for these past few months, while I figure out a restructuring of the company. Well, I can happily say that the restructuring is nearly complete, and I am beginning to call back all the wrestlers and staff to a series of meetings this coming week to inform them about the new direction that this company is going from here on in. Thank you for your patience and I will unveil the full details of this new direction in the coming weeks.

It has been reported that there was an uproar Sunday night at the MEZZO Luxury Bar & Lounge in Minato City, Tokyo. Camera phone footage from patrons has shown a brawl broke out at around 1am local time, that appears to involve Pro-Wrestling STORM wrestlers Minoru Suzuki, Yoshihiro Takayama, and Takao Omori, as well American MMA fighters Don Frye, Mark Coleman, and Kevin Randleman. The Americans were recently removed from STORM'S event on April 1st for a ringside scuffle involving these six, and it appears they picked up where they left off early April 2nd.
No word on the status of the wrestlers or fighters as of April 3rd. There have been no comments offered from either parties' representatives.

Press Release From: Paul Nitro- President of WWE To: Members of press and fans of UWA RE: Update
I want to take this time to thank all the fans of the UWA for their patience with me at this time. As everyone knows, I have been in a reconstruction period with the WWE brand and as of today, I am nearly complete with this restructuring. As of today, I am excited to make the following announcements:
1. I have decided to change the name of this organization back to its original roots and to distance itself from the previous owner and its history. So therefore, I am changing the name back to the WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION!
2. Our territorial area for promoting will solely be based out of the northeast that includes Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts and Maine. Also, I have successfully negotiated with promoter Frank Tunney to bring the WWE back to Canada as we will be doing shows in Toronto, Montreal and Edmonton in the near future.
3. As far as television and pay-per-view events goes, we will have two programs returning to syndication beginning on May 5th and they are ALL STAR WRESTLING, which the tapings will be held at the National Guard Armory in Dover, Delaware and CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING, which will have tapings in Allentown, PA. I am pleased to announce that Mark Lowrance will return as the host of both programs. As far as pay-per-views goes, we will be having 4 pay-per-views a year- ROYAL RUMBLE, WRESTLEMANIA, SUMMERSLAM and SURVIVOR SERIES. More info on the first pay-per-view back, Summerslam, in the near future.
4. We will be starting live house shows with the WWF beginning in Salisbury Maryland on March 12 and have live events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, except during tv tapings and before a pay-per-view.
5. When it becomes to championships, I have vacated all the titles and decided to start fresh by having tournaments to crown new champions. The WWF World Title tournament will take place on television with the first round beginning on May 5th. The WWE Tag Title Tournament will take place in Baltimore, Maryland at a live event on Sunday May 14th. The WWF Intercontinental Title Tournament will take place in a live event in Boston, Mass. on May 21st. Finally, the WWF Womens Title Tournament will take place in a live event in Philadelphia, PA on May 29th. The tournament pairings will be announced on television beginning on May 5th.
Thank you for your patience and looking forward to seeing everyone on May 5th.

Ultimate Pro Wrestling has officially opened it's doors 9275 Corbin Ave, Northridge, CA.
The promotion is a joint venture, majority funded by Anthem Sports & Entertainment and with minority stake held by actor and wrestling personality Freddie Prinze Jr. It has been announced that the Head of Talent Relations and General Manager will be veteran wrestling personality Bruce Pritchard. The first show has been announced for May 20th at the Globe Theater in Los Angeles, CA. The show will be entitled "UPW: Gold Rush", and will feature the opening rounds of the UPW Heavyweight and Cruiserweight title tournaments. The tournaments will conclude on June 10th at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, CA, at a show entitled "UPW: Championship Spectacle", which will feature the semi-final and final rounds of the UPW Heavyweight and Cruiserweight title tournaments, as well as defenses of the UWA Universal Heavyweight and Tag Team championships. Freddie Prinze Jr. had this to say about the opening of Ultimate Pro Wrestling: "Ultimate Pro Wrestling is more than just the culmination of a lifelong dream of mine. I have had the honor and privilege of working in this great sport, and have been a part of some great organizations over the years, but what we are setting out to do here in UPW is truly special. It isn't just about me or meant to be some kind of vanity project; we have very real intentions of making waves and changing this in the world of professional wrestling. I've recently had some stop and start projects fall through, but what Bruce and I have been able to attain with Anthem Sports & Entertainment is an alignment of vision for a long term future.
"We are proud to be a part of the Universal Wrestling Association, and look to become a cornerstone member of that proud and historic alliance. We look to achieve that by bringing a modern fighting spirit to forefront with a stellar presentation. We feel that the alliance, while rich in history, has been stuck in the past for too long. We will attempt to give the UWA a shot in the arm and bring it out of the 80s and 90s, and, if we're being honest, the 70s, and usher in the next generation of stars that will be the face of professional wrestling for years to come.
"We have a deal with FITE TV to broadcast these events, so if you can't make it in person, you sure won't want to miss it in the comfort of your own homes. If you want the ULTIMATE experience in state of the art professional wrestling, you won't want to miss "UPW: Gold Rush" on May 20th!"
